Some people do it differently, but the original Oklahoma drill from the University of Oklahoma is where there's an o-lineman vs. a d-lineman, a ball carrier and then a linebacker who usually lays the hit.
I just watched the LSU hit drills, and man those LSU boys are much bigger and meaner than UCLAs version. Doesn't mean UCLa wouldn't win a game against them, but there's a big personnel difference.
@efrainthegreat your right bro. oklahoma drill there is 2 lineman a runningback and a backer. if there is no backer and just 2 lineman and a running back its either pitts or trenches .
As a former cornerback, I hated this drill. I would always get paired up against guys 20lbs heavier than me, so I was at a huge disadvantage. Also, it was always against an offensive player, who played off the whistle. Corners reacted to the receiver, and off a backpeddle. When did you ever play with your hand on the ground? We always practiced backpeddling, and then breaking on the ball off that backpeddle. But it did make us tougher, and gave us some measure of confidence that we could at least not collapse when a fullback, tight end or lineman came at us.
Actually it's pretty close. And there isn't a certain way to do the Oklahoma drill. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_drill "The Oklahoma drill has several variations. The most common involves two players lined up three yards opposite one another. A corridor is set up typically using three blocking bags on each side of the players lined up top to bottom to create a wall, and the walls are spaced about one yard apart. This creates an area of about three feet by nine feet. The two players, at the sound of the whistle, then run at one another and the drill is over when one of the players is on the ground, or if a ball carrier is involved when he is tackled. If a player is able to drive the other player out of the corridor, that also ends the drill."
Y’all about 10 yards apart “&” in the Of ur team , then they lay on there backs both plaster hop up and run full speed one carrying the ball and if u get past with the ball u win but if u don’t get past the defender u loose
@efrainthegreat texhnically that is correct but it could be different where ever he played because where i played in highschool and college it was different but we just called it oklahoma because it sounded fitting. but your right he probably never played before
Actually Oklahoma is only with a running back/receiver and a linemen/tight end/full back/receiver against a defensive linemen/linebacker/defensive back
No, there is definetly a linebacker in the Oklahoma drill, otherwise you could call it whatever you wanted. It's the particular setup, ball carrier/o-lineman/d-lineman/linebacker that makes it the oklahoma drill. anything else just shouldn't be called oklahoma drill.
Yeah, only a few stood out. Blue went ape shit for their guy that came off the line face down with his head nearly in the dirt. O-line should have just layed on him, easy block, but the drill is about hit, drive, and leverage while in the upright drive position. Honestly this drill is pointless when it comes to defensive translation to the field. Defense should never be fooling around with a blocker minimally, they should be rushing pass or finding the ball carrier.
There are two powerhouse schools in the SEC: Alabama and LSU the others can be beat by anybody on any given Saturday...anybody seen any of this years games?
The whole point of this drill is to make contact, lock in your hands, and keep driving your feet. Not trying to turn the person so you can purposely make them fall over. Only some of these boys got it right.
BS...No the entire point is to beat the person in front of you...PERIOD. You do what you have to do because not all are the same size. a smaller guy gets lower, tries to beat the opponent off the whistle...A bigger guy tries to square up...& drive the smaller guy off the line. It's BEAT THE OPPONENT...not who looks better.
Not a bias SEC fan but this why we are winning national championships.....were is the linebacker and running back.....this is basically a high school drill....come on UCLA
The Pac-12 is trying to find something that they actually are better at. They MIGHT be academically superior but they are head and Shoulders Below the SEC in Football.
Blue went ape shit for their guy that came off the line face down with his head nearly in the dirt. O-line should have just layed on him, easy block, but the drill is about hit, drive, and leverage while in the upright drive position. Honestly this drill is pointless when it comes to defensive translation to the field. Defense should be sheding the block, rushing pass or finding the ball carrier. The drill is beautiful when the ball carrier is involved, also one of the best learning and reading drills there is. Teams should just break down in groups of 3 and do this for conditioning like they're running sprints twice a week at the end of practice.
Well they didn't get they're asses handed to them it actually came down to the last seconds on a field goal...Also look at the SEC and tell me who actually has a good program for football...bama, LSU, auburn, missouri, and maybe Texas A&M. In the PAC 12 we literally kill each other just to be top ranked in our division Im just waiting for one SEC team to challenge a PAC 12 team they're have been offers but i guess no one from the SEC wanted to take them
Yeah, because we all know that they have totally respectable programs there in the SEC with exactly the same academic and legal standards as the PAC-12. Hear about the Alabama shit? What have you got to say about that?
Actually, I don't remember the last time a PAC-12 school beat ANY SEC school. All I remember is Oregon getting that ass whooped by Auburn and LSU because they're the only school that is good enough to even face an SEC school. Again, academics are held to a nationwide requirement. And just so you know, Vanderbilt is the top mathematics school in the nation, and their football team would walk all over Oregon or Stanford or USC or whoever else. Have a nice day!!
Dude, your vision is clouded. You do know that there are other parts of the country that play football right? Last I checked, the SEC won what, 50% of their bowl games? That's pretty pathetic for how highly rated they are. There was like 5 SEC teams in the top 10 who did NOT deserve to even be in the top 20. Especially Florida.
Some people do it differently, but the original Oklahoma drill from the University of Oklahoma is where there's an o-lineman vs. a d-lineman, a ball carrier and then a linebacker who usually lays the hit.

youtube algorithm showing me this video and comment after Ucla beat them 😂
@@ak.foesev yeah right
Oklahoma's get you so hype. There's no better way to end your Thursday practice going into Friday's walkthrough than the Oklahoma drill.

@efrainthegreat your right bro. oklahoma drill there is 2 lineman a runningback and a backer. if there is no backer and just 2 lineman and a running back its either pitts or trenches .
Yo i LOVE this shit, these boys getting hype
Jamal M Fr some are confused as to why they are hyped up so much

yeah, the actual drill is more for backers and linemen or easier for them atleast
Man listen..I played safety..I loved this shit..Didn't matter who you put in front of me..There gonna get hit.
Man you just suck and soft
where is the Qb during these drills?
1 on 1? This isn't Oklahoma… Driving drill sure. Always fun to compete though.
yeah but embarassing when your on the ground
Best video I’ve ever seen
This ain't Oklahoma drill
Let me ask you what's an oklahoma drill? Exactly.
Actually it's pretty close. And there isn't a certain way to do the Oklahoma drill. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_drill "The Oklahoma drill has several variations. its when you have an ovinsive blocker vs a defensive playe and a running back
your right it's a Board Drill
Y’all about 10 yards apart “&” in the Of ur team , then they lay on there backs both plaster hop up and run full speed one carrying the ball and if u get past with the ball u win but if u don’t get past the defender u loose
Hello, have you heard of this program called the Max Muscle Method? (look it up on google). My friend says it gets people bulging with muscle.
Were the last two backs freshman or something? They were sooo small compared to the other guys
who are the people in the white jerseys and who are the people in the blue jersey. it looks like they arent in good terms with each other
3:45 doesnt even know there own teamate
That looks like so much fun
6:35
ahahaha
"Ahhhh Hell Knaww"
the last two were the walk on kicker, and i think backup punter.
Can anybody tell me why it's called "Oklahoma drill" ?
i remember when i first did these it made my stomach hurt lmao
@efrainthegreat texhnically that is correct but it could be different where ever he played because where i played in highschool and college it was different but we just called it oklahoma because it sounded fitting. but your right he probably never played before
sooooooo about that score......?
Actually Oklahoma is only with a running back/receiver and a linemen/tight end/full back/receiver against a defensive linemen/linebacker/defensive back
these boys are livvin
4:22 that guy wrestled before CLEAN AF LATERAL
Alright, call it what you want, 1 on 1's, tiger drill, UCLA, or whatever. When i played, we called it Pitts.
This is the king off the hill drill
No it's 1 on 1 or king of the hill
@efrainthegreat he actually said this wasnt oklahoma.
This is the year, we really weren't able to talk, because of injuries... and those were two walk on!... at first!
King of the hill
This is definitely not the Oklahoma drill. Where i'm from, these are called Pride Drills.
just looks like hella fun
No, there is definetly a linebacker in the Oklahoma drill, otherwise you could call it whatever you wanted. It's the particular setup, ball carrier/o-lineman/d-lineman/linebacker that makes it the oklahoma drill. anything else just shouldn't be called oklahoma drill.
Really they over exaggerating but good work👊👊☝️🙏

Why don’t they lineup 20 at a time, it would be more efficient.
Looks a lot more like the LSU Big Cat Drill than it does Oklahoma
"come on fat boy" lmao
#10 surprises me cuz he faced #77 and the size and power advatage for #77 made me think 10 would of broke his back if he went straight at him
There are two powerhouse schools in the SEC: Alabama and LSU the others can be beat by anybody on any given Saturday...anybody seen any of this years games?
they needa put oklahoma drills on the games
Looks fun
Thats arkansas Think about LSU, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.
43 came to play
Check the graduation rates though...
Thumbs up if your favorite day of practice is when you get to put on pads.
73 is a big boy
You can say they were equal to each other
5:50 was a good one
No feet in the bunch!
D1 college... every football team iv'e been on since i was 7 does this
Makes me wanna get some pads!
the SEC and is basically the development league for the NFL. haha
man why do they hype this shit out the ass its no big deal holy fuck. what truly matters is how you do on the field.
That’s some practice, everybody is just standing around
This right here serves as exhibit A for how UCLA went 6-8 that season. No pop whatsoever by anyone on that team.
4 People have never been in this drill before.
The whole point of this drill is to make contact, lock in your hands, and keep driving your feet. Not trying to turn the person so you can purposely make them fall over.

Look I'm not a D1 athlete and never will be lmao but when you look at other programs these look like some small guys, maybe just me though?
good CTE drill
@JYKorea1 offence and defence...
looks like board drills
coming from a guy who probably wont get to d1

Big T! #77
this isnt the oklahoma drill
yeah no rb, basically just one one one.
Circle drill
You crushed Nebraska?? That is a false statement and the score reflected that. See you in Lincoln next year hopefully you wont "crush us".
No wonder UCLA loses so much. If you can run an Oklahoma drill without a punch being thrown there's no heart or desire.
Anyone else hear that at 2:21?
number 33stop moving his feet
I fucking hate this drill, I did this on Sunday's practice. It molds little boys into Men.
DAMN! I wnna go hit something!!!!

Yeah, because we all know that they have totally respectable programs there in the SEC with exactly the same academic and legal standards as the PAC-12. Hear about the Alabama shit? What have you got to say about that?
i watched the sec teams do this drill, theres not that much of a difference
Actually, I don't remember the last time a PAC-12 school beat ANY SEC school. umm did you forget Oregon beat Tennessee twice and MSU twice in Home & homes??? So stuff that shit about Vanderbilt dickhead. YOU don't know Jack.

Poor 22
I guess football players do not believe in wear jockstraps anymore!!!
