      ​@FishKev they actually traded back from pick 6 to pick 12 and took gibbs there i believe, and picked up pick 33 in the trade and took laporta. Everybody gave Holmes a hard time for taking gibbs and then jack campbell. Turned out good though as they alsp got branch later in the 2nd round after they traded up with GB for the right to do so.

    Gibbs is a stud. He and Montgomery have been a 2-headed monster on running back (nicknamed Sonic & Knuckles). This was Montgomery’s 1st game this season out with injury, but Gibbs picked up the slack admirably.

      Yeah most don’t know how deep our running backs go since it’s been mainly the sonic and knuckles show. Reynolds used to get more touches a couple seasons back. I always liked his downhill running and he’s a strong runner.

    What I love about this is that the lions saw a play from last year where the Bears safety crashed in on a fumble (against the packers) so they designed this play knowing he’d bite

      A lot of people also hated the Laporta and Jack Campbell drafts. Which was baffling to me. If you watched Laporta play for Iowa, on the worst offense I've ever seen, he was still unstoppable. Shocked he didn't get more attention. And Jack was a man playing against boys in College, Just a beast. I always feel like the guys who draw up these draft boards don't actually watch CFB sometimes.

      Go Lions, as a Rams fan. Growing up I rooted for the Rams, my brother for the Lions...though my favorite player was Barry Sanders. We watched all Lions and Rams games when we could, and rooted for both teams.
      The trade with Stafford/Goff was good for all involved. When they play each other I don't mind if the Rams lose, because both QBs are deserving. We got our ring, you guys get yours!

      I do admit it is hard to tell how much the Bears were fooled. Because it’s very normal for them to just let a TE run through all the coverage anyway. Other teams it requires a fast player like a WR to do that. But not the Bears. That may be a negative in terms of winning games but it does mean when they are fooled by a weak trick play they can just say ‘nope. We just naturally suck.’

    0:46 That extra-effort play reminds us of Reynolds' famous block against Tampa Bay near the start of last season. Hustle and teamwork that shocks the opponent.

      That Reynolds block was my favorite play of the regular season last year. It epitomized the philosophy and spirit that the team played with all year.

      The Tampa player flying through the air after getting crushed by Reynolds was current (injured) Lion Carlton Davis.

      @@brenyd Bears fan here. We just have two problems this year ... offense and defense. Especially the offensive line. I think Mushin Mohamed once said Chicago was where wide receivers go to die. With this offensive line, it's where quarterbacks go to get killed.

    As a Bama fan, it makes me so happy seeing Jamo and Gibbs tearing it up in the league. I know they were transfers and we only had them for a season, but they were good enough to stand out over guys Saban recruited. Just a testament to how talented they both are in their respective roles.

    One of those plays that looks like genius when it works against a bad team, but potentially disastrous if you try to get cute like this against a comparatively talented defense, similar to the "lets try to confuse everyone with multiple OL substitutions, including the refs!" play they tried a year or so ago.

    My fav play in that game was the Bears fumbling an early handoff . When the QB pulled his hand back after the exchange the ball somehow stuck to the NFL's gloves which do NOT have any adhesive properties what-so-ever. The QB accidentally pulled the ball right back out of the HBs hands !

    @Jomboy there was a play in the GB/Chi game the week prior where Love did fumble the snap, recover, then hit his TE for a big gain down the left side. Det likely created this play after seeing how Chi screwed up covering it. Run a side by side comparison of both- it’s great.

    I watched the NFLs 15 minute highlight package from this game and I felt the exact same as you, the more I watched the more I loved Gibbs.
