It is unimaginable that these people are not behind bars. Think of all of the men currently in prison who are serving decade long sentences for dealing small amounts of drugs. The difference between them and the Sackler family? Money...... Welcome to the US Pharma business, who owns the US government....

Back in the early 00's Oxycontin was plentiful on the street and the pills were obviously designed to be crushed and snorted. The Sacklers should be stripped of every penny they have and put in the jail cells next to Chapo Guzman at the ADX Supermax Prison.

I hurt my back in 97. The Drs; started me on Tylanol 3. Then in 2 years did surgery that started me on oxy. At the time I had been sober in AA for nearly 20 years. 19 yr, 10 months. I tried coming off the drug on my own and my whole body felt like an open blister. I ended up drinking thinking it would help my pain while coming off the drug. Addicted to both before year was out. I was an athlete, had a house on the water that was paid for, wife, beautiful daughter, I was living in a veterans shelter within a year. Lost everything. My failed everyone.

Good investigative reporting, I ought to look into his book. Following an American tradition started with Upton Sinclair , on his book, “ The Jungle “. It was about Chicago Meatpacking Industry.
He was writing a fiction about the struggles of a Lithuanian Emigre , who at first worked in the industry, and in describing his working conditions on meat packing plants ( at the time Swift and Armour Companies were the biggest ones around ) , Mr. Sinclair delivered a gut punch through people’s stomachs.
Not only the book sold well through generations , the aftermath of his novel popularity produced the Clean Food Act. Americans were revolted by what they read.

How about doing a story on how all chronic pain patients, with proven debilitating conditions are now at home in agony. To show advances in this alleged war on opioids, they couldn't reach the attics so they cut legitimate medication users. Check it out....addicts are still dying at exactly the same rate. And the rest of us with legitimate pain just wish we were dead.

$4.2 billion is not enough, their entire net worth and wealth should have been stripped from them as all of them benefited some way, even if you didn’t manufacture or promote the drug by not stopping it you are still guilty of not doing oversight.

These are the ones found of malfeasance in our borders.
Now, someone might find enlightenment in reading FDA logs about our main overseas drug suppliers of active ingredients, non active ingredients , and finished pharmaceutical drugs.
    Chiefly from China and India.
The logs have constant citations of violations and suspensions on the account of failure to adhere to good practices , unsubstantiated and incongruous production reporting, inadequate laboratory equipment, poor water quality, test failures.
Then think about shipments of these drugs to Third World Countries and Smuggled Shipments into the US.
