Imperial hardware is measured in fractions, as in 7/32nds not 7x32, Just sayin'
Also you could have pulled the plate up through the body on a wire.

I think so. Especially if you have a swing out bumper tire carrier because the swingout tailgate is irrelevant

Cj7 tailgate have twist latches inside of the tailgate that latches against the body

its honestly hard to explain but it doesn't. there's metal nubs on the corners that press against the tub
