Just to add as there is a lot of chat about price in the comments, the standard R12 base model is £11,990 if you cant afford, or don't want, the extras. Most bikes are bought on finance so the additional few £1000 will only equate to 60 quid or so extra a month, which is why most people buy the top spec bikes.

Few years ago I gave up on Boxers with a dry clutch. Clunky “character” aside, they can be complicated and expensive to fix - but that was a few years ago and I rode them to failure. My question is, are they smoother and more reliable now than a few years ago?
My ‘23 GS has the same “oversurge” when you drop off the throttle a little quickly. Is it fueling or part of the anti slip/save the shaft drive engine programming? I don’t know but it can be a little unnerving at the wrong moment.😬
No offense, but after 10 years of no fuel gauge on any of the R NineT models, and probably hundreds if not thousands of comments asking for it, I just have to write this comment: Could it be that this is omitted on purpose? Over the years, they have added riding modes, keyless ride, cornering ABS, LED lights, cornering headlight, and now: a quickshifter, for crying out loud! A fuel gauge is not what BMW wants on this bike, so this seems…I wonder when people stop asking for it? I have completed 19 k km on mine, and with my “trip 1 meter”, after +/- 250 km, you start waiting for the Reserve warning to get on, and that’s it. After all, if you believe that this is what you need, this bike may not be for you, and that’s fine. All others, this one of the most enjoyable rides you could imagine. (Will say I am happy to ride a EUR 4, though)
@iancraig6070 We can't expect it all... It's the same as the new R1300GS not having illuminated switch gear, and that's 20-22k. Don't get me wrong, I agree it should have one.. but it isn't a deal breaker. It's just basic math to work it out.. I do believe it has a low fuel light, though... so nothing to get caught up on.
@@matthiasleiber I own an r nine t and love it,but in the 21st century on an expensive bike,up to and over£16500 in the UK a fuel gauge should be standard.
You didn't mention the quickshifter with the comfort package or how clunky or not the gearbox is or isn't. Pity Boxers are still wallowy, that, the weight and torque reaction in town could be deal breakers for me, but certainly a looker. Pity there isn't a fork colour choice, getting tired of the camp anodised gold everywhere. Still a toss-up with the Mandello, similar spec.
Good review. Would love to see a back to back comparison between Euro 3/4 versions and this new one. In the twisties / on track. I suspect this new one, with more weight, less torque, lower ride height, more rake and smaller brakes would not handle quite as well. But then, the earlier versions really benefit from a taller rear shock, lower bars, rearsets, forged wheels and suspension - taking them to sub 200kg wet also helps wake them up!
I did read somewhere I cannot now locate an article that suggested the BMW will allow a fuel gauge to be displayed. No idea how accurate the article is, but it would seem odd if the data is available but not displayed.
You mention that the R-9 is small, which it is. Is the R12 any bigger? I love the looks of the R12 but as a tall-/big-ish driver, I'm afraid I'll look like a schmuck driving it!

Does the riding experience feel different when compared to the last-gen BMW R NineT?
It'll be riden around in Shoreditch and soho.
Until it gets nicked
Where is the doll, we need a pillion test 😂
BMW boxers are the best🥰
Great video and review as ever, but if you were spending your own cash would you buy the new one or a 5 year old low mileage R NineT ?
Thats not how it works these days.. its more of a £199 a month vibe for the latest bike - thats how people purchase these days, right or wrong.
But then, the earlier versions really benefit from a taller rear shock, lower bars, rearsets, forged wheels and suspension - taking them to sub 200kg wet also helps wake them up!
as others have said, nice jacket..... wot is it????
Sometimes it’s just about riding!
Damning with faint praise is a great way of ensuring that you’re on the next BMW launch somewhere sunny and exotic…
I actually much prefer not going to launches. But you know everything right 😂
@@BaronVonGrumble yeah, they look a right fucking drag! 🤔
that engine sounds great
Love the bike and your review, but why no fuel gauge, FFS got enough electronics?
I did read somewhere I cannot now locate an article that suggested the BMW will allow a fuel gauge to be displayed. No idea how accurate the article is, but it would seem odd if the data is available but not displayed.
Try being 5'8 and wanting a Multistrada V4S
You mention that the R-9 is small, which it is. Is the R12 any bigger? I love the looks of the R12 but as a tall-/big-ish driver, I'm afraid I'll look like a schmuck driving it!
GUESS WHY NO REVIEW ON THE THRUXTON R?!? Direct competitor with the r9t
