Such fun. Oh Sally that extra texture was wonderful on you 🥰 Leslie Friend said to bind off tight and that makes the neck line more shallow. She finished her daily pullover that way.
Thank you very much for this video. I find that no one talks about this part of knitting. I have discovered that I wear the knits that are more my style. I have had to frog knits that I don’t wear, to repurpose the yarn. I look forward to your future videos on this subject. Have a happy and safe new year. 🥳
Loved all sweaters your Mum was wearing but she did really suit v neck ! I bought myself a one yesterday in lemon! I’m in Uk 🇬🇧 north England and our style of knitting 🧶 is classic 2 needles! Although I’ve started knitting 🧶 socks on Double pointed needles and have never done anything on the round but hopefully will one day! Thank you for your podcast really enjoyed! Xx 😘
Thanks Jackie and Sally for doing a series of podcasts that will help viewers understand necklines, positive ease, drape, and sleeve lengths. I knitted one sweater that was too big to fit anyone. This year I had a slew of failed attempts which resulted my apprehension to knit a sweater. There’s so much variables that can make a finished garment not fit. Sweater knitting is a big undertaking. Socks, hats, and scarves does not require as much time and know how to be careful of. My goal this year is the same as last year is to be able to knit a sweater. I am trying to look for a sweater pattern that I like the neckline, not cropped, yoke or textured but not too difficult for a beginner. I don’t like just plain stockinette or raglan. I think your podcast on this topic will greatly help me understand sweater knitting a little better. I don’t have friends or family that knits. With this pandemic, there’s no in-person learning, so this podcast series will be invaluable for beginners like me. I never swatch before, don’t really know how. Some podcasters swatch and their sweaters still don’t come out right. Others don’t and it fits like a glove. Sally, you are awesome and the sweaters you knitted is beautiful! Thanks Jackie for doing this series and sharing! Wishing you all a very happy, healthy, and even more awesome New 2022! ❤️❤️
Oh Sally I hope there is an Extra Textured Sweater in your future. You looked stunning in it. Maybe this will give you an idea for another podcast. Maybe everyone tries on their favorites and then a few that they never wear. It would help all of us.
Sally, you are brave and so accepting of the critique of the sweaters. I would agree with almost everything that you and J discussed…..except for the neutral colored one at the end. If the neckline were changed, I think it would look fabulous. I would recommend visiting The Knot House, Kathy the owner, often talks about the very challenges that I share as well. If I remember correctly, she casts on for a smaller size….consider the smaller size…since J’s fit nicely across the shoulder and then increasing to the size of bust that you need in the front and not necessarily across your back. I heartily agree with you that that ‘rosy’ colored sweater was AWESOME! You glowed. Now, I’m looking forward to the cobalt blue (?) that you’ve chosen for the v-neck. It’s right up my alley. Full steam ahead, Sally. Camel does look fabulous on you as well. If you choose to do a camel sweater in the future, maybe a row or two at the neckline, rib, and cuff of a color that is also in your wheelhouse and will make you look like a million…..because you are worth it! 💕
Ladies. That was FANTASTIC. I loved the concept of this podcast. I am so interested to make myself a Dailey pullover. I am the same sort of stature as Sally so I will be watching and hopefully learning how to make that V NECK WORK FOR ME. I often find the neck size of garments get much to large with the bigger sizes. Sally looked amazing in your Stephen West sweater, the colour, the style was just scrumptious on her. I would never have though5 to make myself this one but I will now for sure. So so enjoyed this one. 😀😀😀😀😀
Sally you are such a beautiful lady and your beauty has passed to your girls. I love seeing all of you and cannot wait to see the result of this knit. Happy New Year. Cindy
I'm going to join in with you guys - I have a stash of Linen Quill here as I wanted to knit the half and half wrap but now I think I'd rather have this sweater instead. Thank you for offering support and tutorials, I really appreciate it. Love to you both and I wish you all a magical 2022 ⭐️❤️
Loved this opportunity to see/“workshop” the various designs on Sally’s beautiful frame. The Stephen West Extra Texture style and color are ah may zing on Sally! The blue blue is going to be a gorgeous go-to, Sally- the design knit from CHC in camel-ish might be one to try with the blue blue linen Quill- the fit on you was quite good, I thought. Have fun with whatever you decide 🧶✅💕
Such an excellent podcast. Love the blue for Sally. Love the plan on trying different sweaters already in wardrobe and picking size from the best fitting one! I treated myself to two SQ of linen quill before Christmas, a charcoal and a beige. Think I’ll join your kal!
Love this episode. Sally you just lit up in the Steven West and again when you held up that stunning blue linen quill. I'm struck by how color-driven you are (one of the things that makes you such an artist-quilter). I wonder if taking some black and white photos in these sample sweaters would also help you focus on the structural and silhouette elements? Probably not needed now, since you're already on track to have a lovely, tailored for you version of this v neck, but maybe a tool for future pattern selection. (And maybe something I should try myself.)
Great episode, Sally, you really look wonderful in the Steven West, and I think you’ll look beautiful in the Daily pullover in blue with a v neckline. Can’t wait to see the progress
Oh! So much fun to take a wander through the knits with you two! Personally, I loved the Fossil colour on you, Sally. Thanks for the fit chat. That v-neck will be fabulous!
You two are so sweet and this video inspires me so much! In 2022 I want to start my first sleeved sweater (I've only gone as far as tank tops so far!) You can count me in for making along with the daily pullover. (I've already got my yarn and I'll be in blue too!)
Lovely episode as we move into the New Year. Linen Quill "Blue Blue" is the most beautiful shade of blue yarn I have ever seen. It will be stunning on Sally. I am using "Blue Blue" and "Dark Denim" for one of my Half+Half Triangles Wraps. Looking forward to seeing Sally's Daily Pullover come to life. Happy New Year.
You two are so adorable ! Thank you for this video . I love that you share your thoughts about colors, necklines, fit and body shapes. Sally this blue is absolutely gorgeous on you ! I love the pink cable pullover also, it is very flattering on you and this muted pink is perfect for the over textured pullover I think. About necklines, I find anoying that the necklines often grow to big in larger sizes, so I often make modifications in top-down sweaters, changing sizes along the way,. It is rather easy to do if there is not too complicated design or texture. I often begin with a smaller size (even with the smaller size) and then progressively change to a third or fourth size, adding more increases in the yoke section or casting on more stitches under the harmholes for example.
Love, love, love the women in this family! And I love the interaction you all have with one another. It’s lovely to see a mother and daughter having a wonderful moment, having a discussion about their knitting. I want to be Sally’s adopted daughter and Jackie and Jamie’s adopted sister! Oh and I can be Lily’s Auntie!! Lol❤️
Love that blue on both of you and you’ve inspired me to order the yarn and join your KAL. Also would be interested in higher v-neck because, like Sally, that is my comfort zone. Please share mods that designer shares with you to achieve this. Thanks!
I’m so interested in how you will modify the Daily for Sally. Looking forward to watching your process. I was also looking at Blue Blue for one but have decided to finish a few things before I bring anymore yarn into the house:)
I too would like a smaller v neckline but then a larger sized sweater. Looking forward to seeing how you accomplish that for sally. I think sally looked especially nice in the “rosewood”
Love this episode! I knit the Half and Half Triangles Wrap in Peach Stone and Dark Iris. I bought the Gray Denim for the Daily Pullover but have not cast it on yet. Looking forward to joining the Knitalong. I think Leslie Friend talked about binding hers off in a smaller needle size to shorten the length of the v neck which I would consider.
I’ve been sitting on this project and unable to decide what colour. I love the blue blue however I’m green eyed. I was leaning toward kiln red but when you mentioned wheat flour it got me thinking. I wear a lot of denim as it’s the only thing I can get long enough (35 inch inseam -tall girl problems) and wheat flour would be so good, I do have it in my stash! Thank you! I don’t have a sweater that light in colour and it should really show that stitch definition. I’ll save the red for the Mare or Lunae shawl. Looking forward to the knit along, wished you had a knitting school I’d sign up if it was safe to travel 🇨🇦
Why not pick up the stitches right below the neck ribbing of the Missoni Accomplished and re-knit the neck. You could do a round of reducing stitches to pull the neck in and then ribbing. I'd dye the finished piece in a color you love! The pink Stephen West sweater looks gorgeous on you Sally! Leslie of "A Friend to Knit With" here on YT was talking about how she used a tight bind off to keep the neck on her Daily Sweater snug. You might want to watch and see exactly what she said! I think you might want to make a smaller size sweater in the shoulder are then increase to fit your torso. I think it's shame when I see larger sizes that obviously have made a sweater too big for their shoulders! I'm pretty sure there are specific books that help the knitter with a better fitting garment, Amy Herzog and Ann Budd are a couple of designers that offer just that!
Wish someone would help us newbies through that daily pullover. I know I’m ready! But revelry and I don’t work.. I’m drying to knit it. Great podcast ♥️
Sally...could you run a ribbon through the neckline of the sweater that had the too-large neckline? I just remember the one that Jackie made, I think it was grey...and she wove a ribbon through the neckline to cinch it in a bit. It looked SO CUTE! . This was a great video, and it's just so nice to see how things fit on two distinctly different body types. I don't know why it is, but I think necklines are difficult to get to fit right, at least on the sweaters I have made. You girls did a great job with your presentation.
Can’t wait to knit this with you! I have my yarn ordered and on the way. I want to see if I purl at a looser or tighter gauge. Should I knit one swatch purling completely and another just knit then compare?
With the Missoni Accomplished, you could always pick up sts after the rib and cut out the rib and reknit the neckline. I have to do that quite often when doing designs. I love top down knitting but occasionally the neckline isn’t as successful as anticipated. Just done it 2 times on my current design. Not difficult at all.
I do appreciate the discussion about not using the bust measurement to decide which size! I have absurdly small shoulders and a relatively large bust and when I knit the size for my bust the garment is just far too big around the neckline! Sally has a very small shoulder girdle and delicate neckline! Just like me! As I grow as a knitter I have begun customizing fit much more, creating the garment that suits me! I mean why else do we expend so much energy to create something? If we want an I’ll fitting garment there are plenty of stores that will sell us one!
Thank you Sally and Jackie! This is going to be fun and I’m learning a lot already…question…is it important to try on a sweater that has a comparable gauge and drape in order to find the size that works for me?
Thank you Sally and Jackie! I’m going to try on my sweaters today to help me find a good fit for the Daily. Question. Do you think it is important to find a sweater that fits well and has about the same gauge yarn and drape as Linen Quill?
Oh I love this! This sweater has been on my list for a good while now ❤️ the only thing keeping me from taking the plunge and purchasing yarn is my concern of the yarns elasticity. I worry that with moderate wear it will relax and become all wonky. If someone has experience with this yarn/pattern let me know your experience!
Adore this episode…..mother/daughter journey touches my heart. I may switch my plans for the Linen Quill I have since the small size only took 2 skeins, did you have any left? I may want it a tad longer. Excited to be a part of watching this journey.
For the neckline of Sally’s sweater (Missoni Accomplished?) with the very wide neckline, how about ripping out the neckline ribbing and making a higher neckline and ribbing. I don’t like low necklines and often pick up neckline stitches, knit upwards and decrease # of stitches and needle size as I go. A thought!
After your Daily Pullover I'd recommend the Extra Texture, maybe in the wine color you mentioned? You look beautiful in that rose pink too. I can say from experience as a busty person, yokes and raglans are great because the shoulders and neck are much smaller than the full bust and the garment is already shaped that way. I actually think you could cast on the smallest size for the neck and then figure out the increases to get to your desired size.
That’s what I was going to do-cast on my size for her. I liked how it fit, and go from there. I usually do the same thing for myself as I knit down. First have to knit my son’s sweater: a rectangle fortunately 😉 then back to Sally.
Leslie Friend from the podcast ‘A friend to knit with’ has a recent podcast and she talks about the neckline of the Daily Pullover and how to make it more fitted.
Sally you are gorgeous. Gorgeous. That smile is IN your eyes. I may be a tad darker in coloring but not by much. I am neutral and you seem more pink undertone. Same white and silver hair. Like me , I think you can wear any color as long as it has deep saturation. Silver is good. I have found if I wear softer or lighter colors I need the heathering in the color to get by with it. The short or tiny vee necks are cool. I wear a small size but still like the tiny vee neck. The pullover will be stunning in the blue.
I can see Sally needs to use two sizes when knitting sweaters. The necklines on all of them did not lay properlery ( too big -did not lay down flat). When she put on the V neck sweater it became most apparent you will need to combine sizes.
I am so touched by Sally’s softness and fullness and tenderness today.
This was so much fun. Blue is Sally's color. Also, garments with ribbing at the neck looks good. Can't wait for Part 2
I got the biggest kick out of you two. This was a lot of fun and good info. 👏🙏🏼💕🇨🇦
Such fun. Oh Sally that extra texture was wonderful on you 🥰 Leslie Friend said to bind off tight and that makes the neck line more shallow. She finished her daily pullover that way.
Hi Jackie, love the relationship u have with your lovely mum. Going to follow this process with interest. Excellent podcast idea x
Loved the gold rustic sweater you are wearing it’s gorgeous! Xx 😘

Sally ,HI, I love when my peer is on the show. Loved the comment about didn’t wear my sweater because I didn’t go anywhere
Such a fun video. Thank you for sharing this process with us!
Leslie Friend knit the Daily Pullover but made the V neck shallower. I want to, as well, so will reach out for tips. Love that blue!!!
Leslie Friend just made this sweater and modified the depth of the V neck..it sounded quite easy to do..her podcast is A Friend to Knit With.
That blue yarn is absolutely a fabulous color for Sally.

Such an inspiring episode with the two of you! Sally you will love the Daily! It will look amazing on you especially in this color. ❤️

Great tips, Sally and I are the same shape, and I found this podcast helpful.....Kristen R.
Such a good discussion of fit and yarn/pattern pairings!! Loved your topics!!
I absolutely love this idea!I have wanted to start this sweater for sometime but was intimidated. by that neckline. So bring on the tutorials 👏🏼🤞🏼

Super-interesting discussion about fit! Can't wait to hear more!

Que precioso todo
Can you share the other videos for this sweater
There aren’t any yet. Sally has not finished her WIP. We’ll post once she’s ready. ❤️
@@jdominirose thank you
I’m thinking of making the magnolia bloom sweater - is there an episode that talks more about it?
No. 43
@@Cadyjaxknits thank you!!
I love this. it gave me all the tender mom feels. Joji Charles v neck is adjustable V, fwiw.
I just looked that up on Ravelry. Ah so many good choices out there. I’ll maybe try that sometime. Thanks.
The Extra Texture on Sally, that color is her color.
It's easy to alter patterns for fabric, but harder for knitted articles.
Leslie Friend from the podcast ‘A friend to knit with’ has a recent podcast and she talks about the neckline of the Daily Pullover and how to make it more fitted.
Soldotna looks great on Sally

Yes… I do that in all my sweaters too. I’m just not used to knitting for her shape. Thanks for your insight!
