That padlock is a wonderful find! Laughed out loud when you guys competed for the "longest stem"! Boys will be boys.
Linda Odell haha, thanks Linda. Biggest cannon balls next!
Si-finds Thames Mudlark 😂
Thanks Si. A pipe extravaganza. The padlock was a surprise too. 👍👍💖
Simply the best thing to watch while having my coffee. I love that you have knowledge of the items history.
Chasity Brewer Thanks ☕️
Hi si n friends amazing video beautiful thing u find Excellent video love it n all thing u finds th thank u Si was waiting for your video have a great evening 👍
The aglets actually dates back to medieval times. And not just to keep the lace from fraying but to make the lacing itself possible. Imagine trying to get that thin wobbly lace cord through a tiny hand sewn “button” hole without the aglet. Believe me it’s a struggle and takes forever. I have tried. 😂🦄
Hi Simon, thanks once again for a mighty mudlark, it was nice to have a visit from Poppy, shame you didn’t find all of the watch so she could be the watch dog of the day ! Cheers again from Aus.
haha, love it!
Love when Jules brings Popi along!
Me too! But I end up playing with her and not Mudlarking... I think that's why Jules brings her out - so I play and get distracted - leaving him to lark!
14:23. Notice how “Claudius” is misspelled. Much like the wording in those emails from that Nigerian prince who needs my help.
Matt Kustom Kostumes Haha
Haha 😆
Heh, that's true
The one with all the money? Lol
@@impunitythebagpuss Yeah, that one. The Prince whose money is locked up in an account, but MY measly $5000.00 will unlock MILLIONS.
All those bones... ☠️🦴☠️ I know they're probably just animals, but still creepy.
Pretty good haul this time. So many pipes, you're doing better than Nicola 😁. The counterfeit coin and story was great too 👍.
You just have to read Si's replies to the comment he's quite the comedian just BRILLIANT haven't laughter so hard in a long time thanx SOO much Si
It is always fun to go mud larking with you. Great finds, thanks Si.
Debbie Bonner Thanks Debbie! Welcome anytime!
The dish was an advertising piece used by Fredrick Jaccob an Co Ltd London est 1877. He imported pilsener lager hence the 'L' on your relic.
mark whyman Cool thanks
Si Finds does it again.!!
Gr8 Video, Finds, Historic info and Chuckles too. What more can u ask for...!!??
Anyone who gave that a Thumbs Down Needs to Stick their Thumb Somewhere else..!
Thanx Si you Made my Morning start wiv a Smile..!
Kim Downunder 😎
Thanks Kim! There was probably a bit too much wind noise in 3 seconds of video that upset someone, haha. Thanks for the kind words. Si
Pipe Bonanza !!.......... Nic would be proud
WOW 2 nice pipes !!! Northern Mudlarks make beads out of their pipe stems, and Fairy Houses with their pipe bowls
I like watching these videos, always learnig something new. I gave up on tv a long while back, so now I have something new and interesting to watch. Thanks for sharing! Who in thunder down voted these?
Thanks for watching!
That is the first pin box lid I've seen you recover in your searches. Awesome❤
I had to check and make sure I wasn't watching Nic's video so many pipes came out. Peace love & mud. TomCat
Tom Castonguay Haha, cheers Tom. We hit the mother load recently!
Digging up pipes never gets old! The excitement as to what you might find is always fun. I am determined to find an amazing pipe one day, we are getting closer and closer! Looked like a lot of fun in the muck :)
Mudlarking With Kit & Caboodlers Thanks. I wish you all the luck in the world. It will come very soon I reckon!!!
Chances of finding something are remote... laughing out loud!!!! I love Si!!!
Love the history lessons you give with a lot of your (si) finds 😎
Phyllis DeMario My pleasure!
Just love seeing the treasures of the foreshores
Crystal Twork Thanks Crystal!
That a beautiful bottle love it thank u Si n friend s
Thanks matey!
@@Sifinds
My pleasure si
Hiya Si lovely hunt and a cracking pad 🔐, thanks for the trip 👍🇮🇪
Love watching you find history and I'm gonna try magnet fishing with my grandson in our lagoon. We're on a bay in southern NJ USA.
MoonsPath Hope you get some Luck in the Muck!
Update we didn't put the big magnet in yet, but the small ones found my lost bird feeder and my grandson was thrilled to get a large srcew! Also found out laws in our state prohibit us hunting for anything over 100 years old🤨. Looking into permits needed.
Very serendipitous with the padlock Si!
Having fun watching theses videos and learning a lot about the early days on the Thames. I was reading an article in an archaeology magazine a3 weeks ago about the discovery of a body preserved in the mud and they guessed he might have been a Mudlarker. I had no idea what that was and my research led me to you and your RUclips videos. You have a wonder natural film presence and such an easy way of narrating them. Your love for the past is ever presented and you give just enough info with out over crowding our head with dates. Love your sense of humor too. Poor Stew that his stem was too short. Lol! Thank you for sharing.
What a great pad lock and pipes..thanks again for another awsome video..
Robert Gardiner Thanks for watching Rob!
Nicola will be jealous with all the pipes and bowls you found. Much respect and stay awesome,
That padlock was a beauty...nice!
Loving the videos, you are getting better and better at the filming and editing. And your sense of humour is brilliant!! Cheers
You really came up with a bonanza of pipes today. An amazing bunch with rather long stems!
Cheers Gene, wait for the next pipe bonanza!
So does that mean you and Stu are engaged now??? Let me know when the wedding is so I can buy a new hat 💍👒😜👍. Some lovely finds, I never tire of watching your videos.
alessia0064 I’m not getting engaged to that cheap git. Haha
So many pipes! Great finds. Really interesting coins. Old padlocks are so cool! Awesome video. Looking forward to the next adventures.
Mud lovers rules! :)
Such a great video, Nicola would probably been jealous with all the pipes you found
My pleasure watching you always Simon!! Love the lock!🐸
Cheers Kim!
Very cool ! Always fun with a dash of history. Thank you
Nice edit. Great finds. Saw that you guys had a big storm recently, and the Spurs got a win. Happy hunting, be safe!
Well a fun day for you and Stu. Any find is a good one.
Is it weird that I loved the bull’s horn the best?! How the heck would it have gotten into the Thames? So cool.
darlenevm Hi. The Thames used to be alive with industry, all the dockers and sailors and merchant would need feeding. So often they would prepare food on board. This is probably waste from a butcher or such like, selling cuts of meat etc. We find lots of bones, all different cuts, maybe the marrow was taken from this horn.. who knows...
@@Sifinds My first thought was HEY, one of those massive extinct Aurochs' horns.. But, probably not. LOL. Your explanation makes way more sense.
Lots of bones today, and rain and wind. I love the padlock. You were like Nicola today with all those pipes. Mr Hemings would have been very happy to see the foragers of the Shore exhibit in his place
Coni Torres Yes I wonder if he is looking down on us?
Congrats on your discoveries gentlemen. The padlock is my favorite find. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers Jay dude
Some pretty neat finds. That is a big padlock! That bottle you found with the iridescent colors on it is what we would call a "sick" glass. Another great video there.
Wow, Simon! The synchronicity of finding a lock with the name of the business that was in the building you guys had your exhibition in - that is crazy eerie and amazing at the same time! There must be mudlarking angels watching over you guys. Lol! Fun to watch. Cheers!
haha, crazy right!
I think old locks are the best! I have a small collection of luggage and pay box locks from the early 1900's. Miniature locks are such jewels. But the big barge locks are amazing. My uncle was a locksmith and I have a lot of his old stuff. The button looked like it had a floral wreath on it. Nice.
Mary Degenkolb Thanks Mary! Yes lovely and chunky things, with history we can trace!
Who wouldn’t love history on hearing about the connection between the padlock and the business premises? I love all the research you do about your finds. It really brings history alive.
Thank you!
Good morning Si. It’s Sunday morning here in the States. Always look forward to your videos. Great padlock. How cool the man’s buiness was in your exhibition building. Destiny is dancing like I always like to say. Guess it was your turn for that dance. Keep on keeping on. Later..Joyce. ARROW *🎱 🙋♀️🇺🇸 Connecticut, U.S.A.
Joyce Clark London’s a big place, I was amazed when I found out too!
Pipes galore! Was thinking of Nicola @Tidelineart with all of those lovely pipe finds!
The padlock is equally lovely too -a cool find that one.
You could make a cool pendant with that watch surround! Maybe with glass and embroidery inside or something steam punk with other found items.
Excellent idea!
Awesome! I like Poppy her coat looks vaguely like that of a red fox.
Incredible finds. I love watching your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Brenda Price Thanks Brenda!
Oh it’s killing me, I so want to play on the Thames , great finds tfs xx
You're swiftly becoming the highlight of my week Si! Always some interesting finds and great to see them cleaned with a bit of info. I'm definitely a Mud Lover 😍
I love all the clay pipes. That's real history.
The padlock is amazing.
Hi another interesting video, we both enjoyed it, your mate Nicola will be jealous of your pipes, only joking, looking forward to your next adventure, All the best from us.
O nicola will like that one. Nice day si You stay blast and I'll see you on your next one day care
Si, I'm dying to know if you went back for the humongous medieval key from the last video! Also, I vote for Prime Minister for PM pipe. Another great video and I enjoyed watching as always. Happy larking, Dave.
Daddy Digger Hi mate. I went there today, on a mission to find it. Alas I couldn’t find it. But will go back with a rake. It’s bloody big so won’t escape me!
Amazing coincidence about the padlock and the exhibition!!!!
Karen Bright I know right!
I live in the U. S. but would love to do what you do . Awesome , you know your stuff .
Ronald Wood Thanks Ronald!
You could make necklaces out of those clay pipe stems - thread a chain through and use spacer beads to separate them - easy !
Nice, pipes are so much fun, but padlocks are too.
All those bones! Oh how wonderful!
You too!
You guys are so funny!great banter.
Ciao, molto bello il video, bellissima la moneta di Claudius,le pipe quelle lunghe e quelle corte....poi spettacolare il luchetto,ma poi tutto quello che hai trovato.
Haha someone else that knows what an aglet is!! But even more awesome the padlock was, what a connection. Blessed larking.
Lissy Moz Thanks Lissy!
Si, thank you, had to watch again. Love your channel. 🤩🥰🤗
Linda Hart Thanks Linda! Good to know!
I live in the northern part of Idaho, USA and just found my first piece of clay Pipestem! Our town is only about 120 years old and I found it on the lake beach! I am so jealous of all your old finds!
Madeline Black well done Mudlover!
Great finds guys & thanks for the laughs . Xxx 🇮🇲
My pleasure
Congratulations on RUclips recognizing you!! Great video!!
Cheers pal!
Wow, that's a lot of pipe finds! I saw Anna B's post on fb...I cannot believe the amount of pipes she got after the storm! Love the padlock. I must admit, I wasn't noticing it in spot the find either....I was looking at the other blobs...lol It turned out to be over the top. Always happy to see the dogs on the shore, but worry about their feet. They seem to hold their own. Let us know what other things you find out about that Romanus coin. Strange things can be found everywhere. I also received my spruce Mud Lovers hat two days ago. I love it! I will wear it proudly with my T-shirt........next is the leggings, so I can be comfy and cool in the heat of the summer whilst I go about my finding things! Cheers, Si...always fabulous to see you!
Thanks Karen. What’s a spruce? Hat? 😊
@@Sifinds Oops, mu Mud Lovers hat, spruce is the dark green choice of color
Karen Yeoman fantastic, the baseball cap right?
@@Sifinds yes. It arrived super fast, too.
Great fun. I look forward to these more than I should. Would love to get there one day and try my luck. Thanks for posting another video.
Cheers Mudlover!
Love the lock! Great puns too haha! And congrats for winning the longest pipe competition! xx
Northern Mudlarks Thanks guys! T’was a good day! Ain’t they all when your Mudlarking!
I I lived near the Thames, I think I would do nothing but lark around. Greetings from Denmark
Always fun to have a buddy out with you when mudlarking! A good bit of healthy competition -- as long as you stick to comparing the sizes of your clay pipes -- and nothing else!!! :-)
Aengus MacNaughton Haha! I found some even longer ones recently! Looking forward to putting that episode up!
@@Sifinds -- sounds like a "special" episode is due when the weather is better -- "Who's Got The Longest??? The Mudlark Battle Royale!" :-)
Aengus MacNaughton Careful, I don’t wanna get banned for explicit content. Lol
@@Sifinds -- You haven't yet! And there were some interesting comments in today's videos. Something about "firm"! :-)
What's really funny, is if my memory is correct from the videos that you all have posted -- Nicola may have the longest! Now wouldn't that be interesting! :-)
That was a beautiful lock and the pipes was amazing, thanks for sharing
Dave Whittington cheers Dave
Fab stuff. Good day for pipes!
Ohhhhh, what a cool spot😍, amazing. LG Ilona 🇩🇪
Cheers Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
GREAT finds Simon! The distressed bottle is beautiful! Thank you for all you do. Kelly Indiana
Thanks Kelly, a beaut right
I’ve never seen a whole pipe outside of a museum! You found two in one day, wait . . 3! Now 4!!
Cool finds! The pipe with the PM-those are my initials! If I were ever to lark on the Thames, I’d be so loaded with stuff. Pottery shards, beach glass and iron nails & spikes. The iron would make such a great brutalist sculpture!
Sassy’s Mom Thanks! Yes I’d love to be able to weld
Wow. What a phenomenal coincidence! Almost as if the ghosts of the past have been waiting for you to find them.
Fiona Wallace oooohherrr yes. Haha
Simon: You have restored my faith in humanity. I always knew you had the longest one! (er, pipe, that is).....A wonderful video with some great finds, and little Poppy, too!
Steve H Cheers Steve! It’s gets even longer in an upcoming video! Oooerrr
That is huge horncore for a bull and looks quite old! Could be an extinct aurochs. Worth taking home.
Wow, the history is so cool. What a coincidence.
Cheers Kath!
Si-finds Thames Mudlark OMG, my eldest sister is the only one that has ever called me Kath😄
Cool padlock! But I like the pipes the best. Looks like it was a fun day.
Loved it as always! Thanks from S Florida!!!
Great to see you gents have made it thru the "wild" storms Mother Nature is throwing at the U.K. 👍.
Always love to see the old padlocks you and Nicola find. There's just something about them for me that really peaks my interest about their history. Thanks for your information on the one you found on this adventure 😊.
🙏's for your safety while your out adventuring. And much continued luck 🍀.
And your so correct, some of us(especially in the U.S.) would LOVE to own one of those fabulous clay pipes 😁!!
Juliet Thanks. Yes I never take what we find for granted. We are very lucky to have the foreshore as our ‘treasure’ playground
Thank you for another great video 💕
Minnie Rose Thanks for watching!
Congratulations on the article written about you. You and Nicola should have a show on TLC(The Learning Channel) I think it would be popular here in America. I can’t believe it! a whole kitchen sink? Lol
Elle Van Roamer Maybe one day 🤞🏻
Si-finds Thames Mudlark 💯% !
Good finds. Love it
🤣 who has the longest one .... well done guys great finds 👍🇿🇦
Georgie Walker 😂
Ah the Tames the river that keeps on giving & she be giving long after were gone. Imagine 50/ 100yrs excitement mudlarkers will have finding burner phones items from today pitty but todays coins won't be part of joy cause today's coins metals quality is crap.👍☘🇮🇪Godbless/peace🙏✌
nice finds Si, see you next week when you find that pot of gold.
That'll be nice!
Lovely solid padlock you found to go with that pocket watch rim... I have a feeling you have to scrape away for quite a while to reveal all the secrets ! Great work. Evasion coins ! Who knew. Wasnt there a shortage of coins in the Georges time ?
Yes - to the evasion tokens - that's one reason why people used them, that and lots of people were illiterate, so as long as it looked the real deal, they used them unwittingly
Awesome video nice finds ! Thanks for sharing your videos. 👍
Achillia Roberso My pleasure!
I liked that hagstone on the ground @5:01 in this video 👍🏼
You should do a compilation video of your best finds. That would be cool
PokeCat Yes good idea
Well done!! Great video as usual Si! Wonderful coincidence about the lock and the Foragers of the Foreshore building! Loved the percussion inn the background music. You do such good editing! Well it’s my birthday so I’m ordering Luck in the Muck merchandise! Cheers!😍
Nancy Holm Happy birthday Nancy! Yes the link to the musician is in the description of you want to hear more. Lovely to hear you’re getting some Mudlover apparel! Thanks for your support, it really helps me keep going!
Nice validation from Hemmings me thinks.
Wendy S. Allyn Yes!
