Im actually doing a conversion right now on my vr6 from auto to manual plus a heater core change. it is exactly as you described as ive done this conversion on a 2.0L mk3 cabrio same ordeal again electrical is the same change both euro spec cars. Excellent presentation with accurate info. Keep it up my friend.
OH WHAT FUN, a heater core change... :/ The one job where you soon find out why it's call the heater core. Core as in the centre of the universe. I swear VW engineers were sitting around one day and thought "hey, I got this heater core, let's be complete idiots and build the entire car around it so when, NOT if, the time comes to replace it, you'll have to take apart pretty much the whole car just to get at it".
Didn't sound too bad of a job there Jonathan in getting the wiring issue sorted out. I'm sure that your information will help a lot of people out there who are changing over from an automatic to manual transmission.
+stuzman it was nice and straightforward once I had worked out how it all worked and stopped trying to follow the guides I found on the internet. Cheers Terry
Hi, I'm currently doing this in my 93 corrado and had a question. Did you just tap into the ignition switch wiring and ran the wire to the fuse box? Assuming you put the spade connector in the same color slot.
I need help bad! Im in the middle of removing all parts needed for swap, im stuck on removing pedals, pretty much need as much guidance as needed, links to the write ups for the mk3 auto to manual swap would greatly be appreciated
All I can really tell you is that removing the pedals sucks so bad it makes you hate life. You just struggle and struggle until they come out. That's how it went for me. Enjoy
Got them finally! I will start the swap on the auto this coming weekend, I really appreciate your reply, will continue to watch your videos for future reference
I would expect the tachometer to work just fine, since it's running off the crank sensor. The speedo however is definitely an anomaly. Can't say I've ever seen an 01M with a 2-pin speed sensor; they're all 3-pin here in the States, and the FDR between the auto and manual is different enough to have to adjust the speedo.
+rhkips I'm not sure on the speedo accuracy yet but it definitely works and feels vaguely accurate. I thought it was 2 pin but I'll double check. Cheers
VW commercial. Farfegnugen. He took off the farf and added your name. Driving enjoyment. So it's a compliment, from you we get Badger enjoyment and that includes Charlie two2 too tree3.
+MostlymoparIH yes indeed and now my car is finished I can do some farfegnugen. Charlie has already been for a ride in it. He enjoyed his cameo at the end of the vid. Cheers
Badgertronix I've seen many variations of that word over the years... had to be done, and it fits / suits the build! The cameo is always appreciated! =)
Badgertronix I don't think I've ever seen an automatic one of them over here all manual amazing different parts of the world how they drive different cars

Awesome! Thanks for watching and glad to know I didn't make it up like half the info I found on the conversion online. Cheers!

Nice project to get it all sorted out and a big help for those with the skill to do the same. Well done buddy.
+STEVE ROB cheers buddy. I started this project without any skill and I feel like I have gained a little along the way.

Nice comparison. I don't understand most of it but looks like you do a great job and know your stuff. 😊
+NikiSIGX5 thanks. Hopefully the information is useful to someone. I struggled to find all this stuff out. Cheers!
Great video mate glad you sorted it in the end
+Paul Mayou cheers mate!
Awesome info thank you one question do you think this will work the same for a us obdII PASSAT
Should be similar. Can't guarantee it will be identical
Badgertronix thanks for the reply

I can't remember now, it was a few years back.

Got it figured out, your videos helped me a whole lot. Thank you
Would love to talk to you, i'm thinking about doing a trans swap for a MK 3 VR6 currently listed. am also in chch
Good information to have out there and documented. Will definitely be of help to someone down the line!! Nice job!
+T.O.A.G cheers buddy. I was amazed how varied the online guides were and none of them related to my car

Nice documentation via a video. This will help someone I'm sure.
+wyattoneable thank you. I thought it was worth sharing and hopefully will help someone. Cheers!

Lot of good information on the net but sometimes it's hard to sort through all the rubbish
+Carolina Man I'm not saying those guides are wrong but the car was updated over the years and none of them were any use to me. Cheers
Great job mate I am sure that will help someone else out there
+bodgit and leggit garage I read at least 10 different guides and everyone was different. Cheers
Badgenugen huh?
Good vid Brother.
+MostlymoparIH Thomas invented that word. One day I'll figure out what it means

+Thomas EXOVCDS it's a good word! A fine cameo although the Charlie one after it is my favourite
You done well mate.
+ZIGgassedUP cheers Zig
Things I never thought about. I did have a neutral safety switch go bad once. They lead to loss of hair.
+txsviking cars, women, children all on occasion lead to loss of hair 😂
Not losing my hair but my mind maybe.
I think I just buy a manual lol
+bodgit and leggit garage I wish it was that simple. People just don't drive them here
Badgertronix I don't think I've ever seen an automatic one of them over here all manual amazing different parts of the world how they drive different cars
+bodgit and leggit garage I had a friend of a friend who had an auto one in the UK and we all thought he was odd.
