  • Welcome to Cichlidscape.
    In today's video we take a look at the new Lomhle Asta 20 light (linked below) & the pathos plant I just put in this aquarium. I'm hoping this light assists with the growth of the pothos which SHOULD help with nitrate build up, meaning less water changes! I'll be sure to keep you up to date on this!
    On this channel I document my fish keeping journey sharing aquarium setup videos, hints & tips, product reviews, store tours and much more! I keep & breed a vast array of different aquarium fish including African Cichlids, South American Cichlids, Community fish & Fancy Goldfish. I have used that exact same light and it seems to work very well. The remote is new so that is cool. That 'big brained' goldfish seems happy and I am glad he is getting better. I am sure that Pothos will certainly help with the nitrates for sure...the light will encourage more growth which will draw up more nutrients out of the water. Cheers!

      Nice! I have the older version on my planted tank but I’m happy with the upgraded light that’s for sure. Seems good quality & the remote is neat👍🏻 thanks for watching Sean! Hopefully the Pothos grows well for me🤞🏻

    The red cap is looking much better. After careful consideration, I too got myself a red cap last week to go into my 200L tank with a ranchu and oranda. I am thinking of adding a pothos/devil's ivy but just doing some research on the whole concept of nitrogen removal. Thanks for the update 👍

      Thanks & nice! How are you liking the red cap? I’ll be sure to keep you update on the Pothos! Hopefully it grows in nicely & helps with the build up of nitrates🤞🏻 thanks for watching!

      @@cichlidscape the red cap is surprisingly spritely, always moving about, although it's still a little freaked out when I go near the tank when the lights are off, but it's happy to swim upto the glass when the lights are on. I am liking the contrast between the white body and the blood red cap. I saw the little him/her in the store and decided to get him/her, as it was being picked on by the others. It has a bit of a 'Nemo' style of fin, where its a little deformed, but other than that, it's healthy and swims pretty fast 😁 considering. Currently my tank has got a whole lot of anubias, a crinum calamistratum and I'm going to get some crypts tomorrow. Just building the flora in the tank slowly. Testing what these monsters eat and don't eat and also the plants I can have in my tank

      @@nayanmistry4641 sounds like a great tank!! Maybe I’ll have to experiment with a few traditional aquarium plants too👍🏻🤔

    When I trimmed my Pothos roots, the plant stopped growing for a while.

    What’s the best lighting to bring out their color? Led or fluorescent

      I would say led nowadays in terms of color👍🏻 longer life of the light too

    Is this a 40 gallon breeder tank? The light works awesome for you. I have 2 of the exact lights on a 29 gallon and to me they are dull and don’t give the shimmer effect that I was hoping for and I have plenty of surface movement for it to be able to do so.

    • @cichlidscape
      @cichlidscape  Год назад +1

      It is yeah. That’s strange you are getting the same brightness! How long have you had the light? Is it the version with the remote?

    • @findingmyway3207

      @@cichlidscape yes they are less than a month old. Both with remote but I only use one and it controls both lights.

      @@findingmyway3207 right right. Have you noticed it slowly dimming over those months? I’ll have to be on the lookout for that if you have!

      @@cichlidscape no the lights are very bright. I actually use both of them on the lowest setting. One does give off more blue though even though it’s set to all white. I was just hoping for more shimmer. I was gonna purchase the kessil A80 but in my search I found these and they were ALOT less expensive and came with the hanging gear.

      @@cichlidscape and when I said the lights are dull it’s not the brightness I was meaning it comes off very yellowish.
