There used to be a ladder leading into the hall that gets to the bat room. Looks like it's gone. And the steel supports at the entrance weren't there about 5 years ago.

From what I heard, I guess people were not obeying the closure dates for the bats so they caged it off and now it gets locked during the off season.
A ladder would have been nice. I wouldn't want to do that section without a rope or ladder to get back out.

Caving was a blast, we plan on coming back here again next year, maybe with some new friends to show them around.

I went in this cave almost 30 years ago, when I was about 14 and fearless. Spent about 5 hours inside and made it down to where the ice starts. Some of the rooms shown in this video look exactly like I remember them.
And now, as an adult who's much more claustrophobic, and who's watched a few too many horror stories about people getting stuck in caves, the thought of doing it again absolutely terrifies me.

That's cool to hear that you saw this so many years ago!

Wow...no way I'd make it into that. Super cool to see inside the cave.

I was pretty worried for this trip in the days leading up to it, and the entire hike in lol. But after the first few squeezes I got pretty comfortable.

I haven’t been there in years, I doubt I’d still fit in the entrance lol. That metal at the entrance is new.

I heard the new metal gate is to keep people put during Bat season. This was an awesome time, ill definitely be going back again.

Aw hell no! That cover photo is enough to give me the willies.

That cover photo is called the "Birth Canal". It was the tightest section that we traversed through, you gain about 20 feet while traversing left at least 40 feet. Definitely a spot where you don't want to slip and get wedged in the crack below you.

I've made maybe six or eight trips there over the years. Always found new passage. The extant maps all differ and there used to be thick ice at the bottom which would restrict access to passages at times. Sorry to see some a**holes have been using spray paint.

This was such a fun adventure, we're planning another trip up here this season to do some climbing around the area as well as another cave visit.

I have a ladder and have almost gotten to the ice room. I have a really well surveyed map.

do you have a homemade ladder? or one that can be bought online?
I think it would be cool to see your map if your willing to share it, my email is linked in my 'about' section.

just went in eagle cave today got down to the tight squeeze that would’ve led to the geocache room but turned around because me and my friend thought it was a dead end and not worth it

That's awesome that you made it that far, that last squeeze looks intimidating. Were not sure that we would have done it either if Joe didn't lead us in, but it ended up being our favorite part of the cave.
