Captain Sinbad is a RUclipsr I’ve been very much enjoying watching lately. He makes hilarious skits of famous people in the personal development world and also makes videos about personal development principles and how he implements those into his own life. He also often speaks about his aspiration of becoming a successful actor, and his struggle in doing so.
In this video I explore how aspiring creatives and artists can put themselves on stage instead of having to get through gatekeepers of the industry. I believe that these days its very much possible to make money as an artist or creative and turn pro without having to get a lucky break. You can build your own audience and become successful as a filmmaker, writer or other kind of artist. Simultaneously practicing your skillset and building your audience and making some money. You just have to be smart about it. Put yourself and your work out there and try to market yourself correctly. Marketing is one of the most valuable skill to learn for creators and artists.

My man. Thank you so much - this made my day. I've enjoyed your video essays even before I had a channel, especially the essay on Prisoners. Great to see you in front of the camera in this new style, as well.
Thanks man, you make great stuff. Yeah prisoners is a great film, Thomas did a good job analyzing. Also being in front of camera is hard haha. I've found your tongue twister exercise video, think I'll use them to practice haha
@@storytellers1 that was around the time where I was watching exclusively dark films hahaha. Se7en messed me up pretty good. Haha for sure, I continue to get tongue-tied through every video.
The tables have turned
@@CaptainSinbad Hey Nikhil I wanted to share with you this manifesto I found about post materalistic science opensciences.org/about/manifesto-for-a-post-materialist-science it has great insights on spirituality and the power of the mind.
Have a great day !
Both of you are great guys 😁👍
Your last video on how an artist turns pro changed my life
Literally just watched that... So sick
Same. That's my go to video whenever I feel I'm procrastinating. Great video, greater lesson.
Talking on camera is hard! And yes the Dutch accent. But I wanted to try something new for a while and besides analyzing films also try to pull out my own camera and film stuff. I've been watching creators like Nathaniel Drew, Better Ideas and Captain SInbad a lot and wanted to try something similar, finding a balance between that kind of content and video essays. It's not perfect but it's exciting to practice a new skillset. There will still be plenty of film analysis video essays coming on this channel Thank you for watching and go check out Captain Sinbad's channel.
Stay safe out there everyone
I respect you trying something new and different man. Good video.🔥👌
And stay safe yourself.
Love your Dutch accent!
Good stuff :)
Harder than one may think! Glad to see the new incorporation. People connect when seeing a face. After all, the eyes are the lamp of the body, the windows into the well of the soul.
My man getting recognition I'm happy man feels good captain Sindbad let's go
Great video, Lars! I feel like anyone trying to do anything creative is missing out by not making content online in some capacity. Whether through Twitch, Instagram, RUclips. Too many people are playing the old game of trying to get an agent or manager, trying to get the work brought to them instead of creating something themselves. There's obviously no guarantees that just by sharing your stuff online that people will see it or like it, but there's no guarantees the old way either, at least this way it's somewhat in your control. And honestly I firmly believe that anyone making good enough content for long enough will get noticed, no one stays a secret forever.
My favourite youtuber makes a video about my another favourite youtuber which gets a comment from my another favourite youtuber. Mind = blown ! 💥💥
Really glad to see Story tellers appreciate my man Captain Sinbad.
You forgot the American Psycho skit though, which I believe was his best. No worries. Greatness is coming indeed
Great message in many markets nowadays: don't wait for someone to pick you, start producing value and putting it out there and people will notice.
Don't know if you need to hear this, but you are doing great. Your insights are unique, interesting and even captivating. Keep it up man.
Thanks man, it's appreciated. This video is kinda underperforming but I did a lot of effort in it. So it's nice to hear. Gonna continue with video essay's here and keep making video's in this format for a new channel I think
Stephen Pressfield wrote in the War of Art, "The Pro reminds himself it's better to be in the arena, getting stomped by the bull, than to be up in the stands or out in the parking lot" (pg 90).
He wrote this seemingly prophetically in 2002, years before the RUclips explosion.
Thank you for your quality work. It has had profound impact on my life and the videos I publish on my RUclips channel.
P.s. nice to see your face and the new flow.
How did you manage to grab my attention within the first thirteen seconds!!!😄😄😅😅
I agree that "making it passed the gatekeepers " in Hollywood is difficult. Just walking up the proverbial broad road to the front door and knocking wont work for many people. Thanks to social media today, there are many ways to "make it " in film and television. If you give up after being rejected, then so be it.Go do something else.If you willingly quit so easily, then your fate lies in another direction.
But for people who are born creatives, who truly have something to create and share their talents with the rest of the world , they won't give up. Nothing can stop them. They will find a way to succeed. They will connect with classes, online forums, RUclips, Venmo, etc. and get involved and put what they've got into the world. This is especially true right now during our current crisis.
Creative people are doing what they love where ever they are sheltered in place. This is a fantastic time to hone your craft and skills. If you love to dance, then dance every day. Love to act? Watch inspiring films or read and act out screenplays. Want to write? download a writing software and bang out 3-20 pages everyday. If you want to make music, start practicing with your instrument and record it with your phone.
We all have enormous amounts of time to ourselves right now. All we need is to give ourselves permission and commit to practicing. "Put the 10,000 hours in" that it takes to develop the skills to be good at your craft. The time is now.Best of luck
An incredible and very modern message. Thanks so much for sharing this insight, I wish I could like twice!
This is awesome! Fan of both channels!
You forgot Every frame a painting channel. That channel is GOAT.
Ah that's very inspiring, thank you, you make good points. Interesting new video format.
Great video. Love the surrounding. Reminds me of my days there. I agree with the stuff you say. Indeed RUclips isn't perfect but it's a better alternative then the gatekeeper 'system'.
You're a great person! Thanks!
As much I disagree with Rogan, I can't help but sympathize with this very vulnerable moment in his life. We have all been in disadvantaged positions of power dynamics, and it sucks. And as a performer of any kind, it is the most visceral experience, because of how entangled your art is to your personhood.
Alas, the clash of two incredible content creators!
Your channel has helped me a lot
Thank you
7:15 Aww. When brings parts from the Resistance video. I will always remember that video
Wow thank you for this wow 🙏🏽
Super cool idea for a video. Also, totally true today - the Internet gives us, creators, a possibility that was simply unreachable a few years ago.
Great advice! that's what I've been doing lately. Releasing a new episode of my series every week. After doing video work for 5 years I've learnt that it is so important to be creating consistently. How else would we expect to be found? And like you say it builds your skills and I just love documenting my journey for others to learn from as I improve.
Great video.
I like captain
I like your voice.
Which episode of the JRE did you use clips of? I wanna watch that
If you RUclips, Joe Rogan talks about actors you get the clips, I used from to different JRE shows, 1030 and another one i'm not sure
@@storytellers1 Thanks G, great episode as always
My a favorite RUclipsrs🙏🏿
Interesting
Can you do a symbolism video on Netflix"s The Decline
Somehow you look exactlu like i thought you would
What kind of grown man says weiner
This guy also talks about and promotes very outdated stereotypes of "manly men" that undermines a lot of acceptance that has been happening in the past few decades..
Which guy? And acceptance by whom?
@@groob33 CaptainSynbad - by society
A lot of that acceptance is also what’s made men weak.
@@healthyking5161 this kind of comment is so primitive.
@@clintfischer1057 So, you mean acceptance by the feminists and the simps?
not a fan.
