    I did it in 1 hour with your video. For tools, I would add a needle nose pliers for removing clips, a flat head screwdriver for removing one plug on the lower right, a philips screwdriver for removing 2 clamps if you are swapping, and be extra careful dropping screws- I dropped 1 into the abyss. Sometimes the only thing stopping us is fear of the impossible- you removed that fear factor, thank you.

    On my 2010 RX 350 my unit was dead, sent it in and they diagnosed it as not the problem, got me to send in the hard drive (which was visible once you pulled out the radio unit he shows you in this video, that was the problem & they sent me a new one and it's working fine now. That HD was a pain in the ass to get out, I ended up undoing the bolts on the shifter unit pulling it out till I could pull the HD brackets past the studs, then from the passenger side you can unscrew and bend back the plastic and just see the screws, pulled the 2 screws out of that side to get the bracket off then could wiggle it out. Took me a long time to figure out.

    Thanks for great video , I have issues with my radio and cd unit , sound cutting on and off every minute or so , I don’t know it’s amplifier or radio cd , it’s 2010 rx450h

      Most of the time problem is the amplifier but sometimes it could be the wiring/connectors between the radio and amplifier as well.

    Omar, thank you for this brilliant clarifying video. I printed stills of key moments for reference (and a friend sent me a shop removal procedure document; cross-referencing with the video was very useful). Two suggestions: you underplayed what a b*6ch is was to locate those two top chassis bolts. Two more essential tools: a strong magnet on an extension wand handle, and a dental-style mirror on a similar handle, especially for the top mount on the driver side. Anyway, this video plus all the others on your company website instill great confidence in your company. Kudos.

    Nice video! You guys are awesome. I posted this on the amplifier post too, but maybe the answers will help someone here too.
    Hi! I have a few questions.
    1. Is there any reason that the amplifier is separate from the head unit on this car?
    2. Can the head unit be replaced by anything aftermarket? I do not have navigation.
    3. My system seems to have random shutdowns. It seems to be heat related. I'm not sure if it is the head unit or the amplifier. How can I test which piece is failing?

    I removed the radio (different reason) and reinstalled it again but the car does not start? The dashboard lights up but the engine/hybrid system does not start. Any ideas what is wrong and how to get the car going again? Thanks.

    If the headunit is unplugged, will it need an unlock code when it is plugged back in? I know with some Lexus/Toyota models, an unlock code is needed if the headunit is taken out and put back in or even if the battery is changed...

    I’m interested in buying my neighbor’s 2010 RX350, and the CD changer is broken. There is a persistent clicking sound inside.
    I was told by my local Lexus dealer that the whole head unit has to be replaced. 1500 bucks parts and labor.
    Could the CD changer itself be replaced? Or is the dealer correct?
    What would be a cheaper option here. Could I buy a replacement unit on eBay and replace myself?

    One of two upper metal clips from screen plastic frame dropped inside the panel when I taking it apart. Now im not sure if I have to open up the whole dashboard to get it back or can I leave it inside ?

      You might be able to get them out by using a long magnetic tool, if not possible, just leave them in there.

    Have a 2014 Lexus RX. When scanning for radio stations it will not stop just keeps running through the radio dial. Also has a hard time pulling in station and song info. Can only manually tune to stations and have found only one that will pull in HD when there are many in my area. Antenna seems to be fine. Have you seen this issue before? Is it fixable?

    • @HiTechElectronic

      Both AM and FM ?

    • @fixinstuff
      @fixinstuff 5 лет назад

      @@HiTechElectronic Both. AM is just silence, cannot pull in any channels.

    • @HiTechElectronic
      @HiTechElectronic  5 лет назад +1

      @@fixinstuff Most likely the antenna is faulty, to find out, remove the radio, unplug the antenna, use a 6 feet long wire, strip the end, insert it into the antenna jack, contact only the pin in the middle, do not touch the ground section of the antenna jack (outer circular section), if you picked up more radio station, then your antenna is bad. If it is still the same then the radio needs to get repaired.

    Good video, however like many such videos consider your skill level before you tackle a radio/AC/Control removal. Why? If you pull on the various panels with too much force or with the wrong leverage, you might break them. When removing the 4 10mm bolts that hold the radio in place they are challenging to get to and easily dropped never to be found. Also, the connectors require a little skill to safely unfasten. The center console is a little tricky to reinstall. If you take your time, all within the realm of a novice or skilled DIY'er type. If you are a NEWBIE ask yourself "why are you taking your radio out"? Is it really worth your time and risk to save a few hundred dollars? A failed radio is a ONE TIME repair. Sometimes it actually might be worth having a professional shop remove and replace your radio. A replacement (part) from Lexus is about $1,600 - $2,000. If you plan to get the radio repaired, your car may be sitting for a week or two waiting for a repair. (if it is actually repaired, when returned).
    My comments are not intended for seasoned DIY'ers but a caution to a person with little skills who might want to save a few hundred dollars and end up costing them a hell of a lot more, not to mention the crap their wives or mother in laws will give them!
    (Regarding the 4 10mm bolts...use your socket wrench and get them very loose, then take a magnet pick-up tool to turn the bolts out completely. When reinstalling I attached the bolts to the magnet pick-up tool with painters tape for good measure. No lost bolts. Of course if you have a magnetic 10mm socket, you should be golden)
