A return to form!
This is probably the happiest I've been with a review in a while. I feel like I made the points I wanted to, the footage passes for me, I think it's pretty funny.
Unfortunely the ones where I'm the most confident tend to be the ones that don't hit lol but we shall see. My channel has seen massive growth and attention since the last release, and its kind of exciting.
Unfortunely since yesterdays Legacy wave 2 reveal, my plans had to be changed again, and what I wanted to do for an Easter special will have to be put on hold so I can rush out one more video next week.

Unironically have a bizarre love affair with any Prime not G1. G2, Armada and Leo being my personal top 3. Was so happy to receive this dude from my brother.

Just bought this guy today, and I'm digging his vibe. Mine had a problem where I had to pop off his head and re-pop it on the ball joint to access his articulation, but after that was fixed laser prime is a blast. With rumors of hasbro releasing g1 figures in their Bay movie colors, I hope he gets the same treatment.

@@Gei4Mei I think it's because the ball joint goes up inside his head in that little recess instead of slotting in where it's supposed to. Honestly if I could get CW Devastator in Rotf colors I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Honestly tho I'm loving the channel so far, you've got some quality stuff going on here and I hope you continue to grow. Keep being sensational 🤘

The shoulders being a bit thin is actually accurate to the source material, there are three reasons as to why you've never noticed.
1. Nostalgia glasses. You're already used to the way G2 Laser Optimus looks, imagine if you weren't, then you can see the points that I'm about to make.
2. The shoulders on the original toy were off-centred, you needed them to be off-centred to form the sides of to lorry, look at the way it transforms and you'll see why, also, if you edit the original toy to where the shoulders are centred, then you'll see where the proportions come from.
3. The legs and waist on G2 Laser Optimus were not like the legs and waist on Siege Optimus, no, instead, it was more rounded at the waist, thighs and at the calves, but that's a bit difficult to see, because of the wheels at the sides of the legs, so yeah, quite a bit of different proportions going on here, but overall, he's a nice figure!!
Unfortunately I don’t have my own G2 Prime to compare 😣

man im really disappointed that the actual truck shoulders cant exactly move upall the way while the original figure was able to do that since its fixated blitzwing also has this new shoulder design i really hope it doesnt stay

100% agree with you here man, as well as your hinted opinion on blitzwing as well as the foe parts argument. And that truck mode man is fantastic I honestly would just buy this figure to display in vehicle mode. Great analysis as always and keep up the great content man
Thank u fren. I actually display some figures in vehicle mode, I out them on a little stairs facing sideways so you can see all the graphics
@@Gei4Mei I got a few in vehicle mode displayed similarly, but mainly I keep the figures that turn into like jets or ships like Planet X tripticon on displayed, I don’t really have a really good car or truck mode on any of my other ones. But that laser prime man honestly that vehicle mode just does it for me. Maybe it’s because it makes me think of bay verse primes truck but I honestly think I’ll buy it

Honestly after seeing an image of this Prime redecoing this figure as 2007 Optimus and quite honestly it really works and makes sense since both Primes share a very Similar Truck mode despite them having very Distinguish robot designs .I actually would Hasbros to make a figure with The Bayformer Optimus Prime scheme because I honestly think it'd be awsome to have some of the Bay Designs Stylized in G1 same for design the Knight designs os Optimus ,Megatron and the Dinobots.
I know I want them to do it! There was a mini version when the movie came out originally I think
The arm proportion is too long to me too, and i'm kinda bugged with his shoulder pads being unable to move. He also doesn't have the opening hands like Er prime. The paint on his crotch to his feet is not as much as Er Prime, it's kinda bland making him look like a downgrade from previous leader. What i really appreciate about this figure is the gimmick where he has rocket launcher on his shoulder pads and his trailer with high playability. His truck mode kinda sexy too. I guess he is not given a leader price point for no reason.
Its like they traded the paint in for more intricate accessories.
The opening hands have been a thorn in my side tbh. ER prime cant reliably hold weapons
Yeah, this ain't the first time Hasbro did the Bayverse inspired color scheme for Laser Optimus Prime: back in 2010, there was the Reveal the Shield Deluxe class Laser Optimus Prime, whose truck mode also had the flames going on. Although that figure did some seriously strange things with the orange windows, sword, & light piping eyes. (Takara corrected it in their Transformers United release with blue windows, sword, & eyes) The shoulders became the truck nose, with the arms being the lower part of the truck cab. On the flip side, the entire truck cab roof became the robot chest. Yeah, that lil' McBastard was a trip. The hands weren't *quite* 5mm compatible, as actual 5mm weapons could stress and possibly crack or even break'em. But, being a Deluxe, it doesn't have the trailer.
Also... speaking of Earthrise Optimus...the legs of Legacy Laser Optimus are a direct copy-paste.

Funny enough I’m more interested in the G2 figures than the prime G1 and Beast wars. I guess deep down I’m a G2 guy as well. This and jhiaxus look great.

Wonderful video like always I agree the arms look dinky but I just let my almost 20 year old imagination do the work and imagine the shoulder and arms are connected. If I'm honest I want to see a repaint for the live action bay verse films cause the truck mode is really cool. Anyways have a good day can't wait til next time bud. Keep it up!

I owned the original G2 Laser Optimus toy when I was a little kid but my mom sold it off in a yard sale so now I got the new Legacy Laser Optimus for my birthday this year

When I saw the reveal for this guy, my first thought was "looks dope, can't wait for the RiD 2001 Scourge recolor." And now that's releasing in like a week. Good time to be alive.
The 90s were a weird time, ok? I got the Generation Selects Ramjet recently because my brain is still infected by that cocaine fueled era of insane paint-schemes.

Huh... Well, I'm not gonna lie, this do look's interesting.The figure as an whole isn't half bad. Especially the shoulder rockets are a fun gimic.
And as for the "fake chest", even tho I'm not against fake parts, I can understand why people would have a problem with it.
Mostly by the fackt that Hazbro showed everyone that they CAN do a transforming chest with out the fakes.
Case in point, the old Generations Deluxe Lazer Prime. Heck, the only thing I can say the old figure doesn't have (with out mentiening the proper size) is the lack of a opening chest with removeable matrix.

I got the reveal the shield 2011 deluxe one, the takara one cuz the blue is niceeee. It's one of my favorites. Deluxe Optimus Prime from Transformers Prime was also a favorite, again Takara. BBTS was having a clearance sale, got some nice stuff. Back when I collected toys.
Still a nerd tho, I've diversified my collections haha, went through like this Arcee obsession for awhile, Transformers Prime Arcee was so badass!

Looking at G2 Laser Prime, I wonder if the designer behind the original 2007 Bayformer Optimus Prime design took more far more inspiration from this guy than the classic G1 iteration. Even has the flame decos on the cab that got the Genwhiners (Read: People who thought Transformers died out after 1986 or 1987 if they’re being generous) up in arms with the ‘07 design.
I had the same thought! But as I understand it they choose a long nose truck because they felt it could house Optimus’s mass more convincingly
@@Gei4Mei I do see aspects of G2 Laser Prime’s design in ‘07 Optimus Prime. Even the shoulder pieces seems to be a subtle/unintentional nod to Laser Prime’s missile rack shoulders.
Titans Return Blitzwing may be the better Blitzwing... But there's still a lack of ankle articulation, and the Headmaster gimmick is rather unneccessary.
Still surprised that it's our best bet.
I don’t mind the Headmasters. Ankle tilt would be nice. I still want the Japanese version cause it has nice colors

Yeah you're not wrong about the arms. I finally got this guy and he's a total cep-let.
Also some questionable engineering choices have put him on the fragile side and tonight I noticed one of the receptacles for the two tabs that hold his shoulder pads/hood together has actually fractured, seemingly from either assembly or the first time he was transformed. Chad Galvatron Selects is still winning the retro Transformers call-back contest by a country mile even if you do need a literal magnifier rig (not kidding this is what I used) to get all his stickers properly applied.

I know it's.... not happening, but I almost wish they'd release a version of this figure that was painted more like the Fireburst Optimus (which I think was DotM? I can't remember exactly, 2nd or 3rd movie). It's actually the first optimus I ever got, and it's still my favorite deco, and this is SO close in truck mode that it just makes me want it that much more.

Now all we need is a real G2 Megatron. As in tank front chest.

Hey Mei, like your video but there's a minor gripe. At 1:11 the picture that you used isn't the original run of the figure. It's the Encore one. This is signifiied by the black stomach and shoulders whereas the original one has both parts grey. The renders on Legacy do have a black stomach (but grey shoulders), wheras the final product has grey on both parts.
I honestly, didn't know. It's just for illustrative purposes!

Honestly, I still think the original is the best. The OG toy is probably one of the best moulds Hasbro has ever done.

Tbh I'm a little disappointed at the re-use of prime's legs. It's no egregious or anything but I think it's a little cheap to reuse the legs of a 2 year old prime. Especially when that prime reused the legs from a figure that was about two years old when it figure came out too.

I don't mind the reuse, but having the peg that Siege had when ER didn't even use them and having them here again is AAAARRGHHHHH! Pain.

I finally got this guy, and really, the only complaint I have about this guy is that his eyes don't stand out, so it looks like there's only darkness. Would've been better if it had light piping, or just better paint.

While I think the newest toys have better engineering standards and overall presence than Titans returns toys, its annoying to see alot of subtle fun transformation steps present in the Titans return version of laser prime and blitzwing be changed for the worse in Legacy.
Its like they wanna make definitive versions of the characters even if it leads to a less fun toy at times

I hate people complaining about fake parts. Like honestly, if the fake part is hiding in the alternate modes, does it matter? Like fake parts only suck when they are obvious, like hanging off the back of a vehicle mode it robot mode.

It’s like come on, the animation models are unrealistic and especially when it comes to beast modes, or Animated era transformers, good luck trying to reconcile some of those motions into a realistic transformation. Like the character literally melted through its own body or spun into a whirling dervish just to look like that, calm down.
I have thought Legacy Prime is more of a reference to Transformers Earth Wars, and not to G2 since Earth Wars is where laser Prime really took the spotlight. I am only saying this because I have them in the app

The original G2 laser prime looked fine but this just feels weird cause the arms seems so thin compared to the shoulders and the legs they seem a little bit to long or maybe a little bit to thin and the chest feels a little bit short idk why it feels short maybe it's because of the legs 😕
The short torso isn't an issue for me, a lot of mecha look like that. It's definitely the placement and size of the arms

The cab is a tad too tall. Like the top is a different scale from the bottom half.
They like to play fast and loose with vehicle sizes in this line

Scale has always been all over the place in Transformers, and if the cab and trailer were off scale from each other it would be passable, but wonky scaling on just the truck is weird. Like those circus mirror Hotwheels from a few years back. I might be the only one this bothers, and thats fine.

Titans Return is still great, even with some of the character in the line getting revisited. CW was good til the amount of mold reuse got absurd and PotP is just CW Part II with foil stickers.

I get a lot of things from this design but not goofy ! we've got far more goofy Optimus designs, even in g2

@@Gei4Mei he hasn't got more colors than g1 prime, and the shoulders are fine, Magnus had big shoulders before him, that's quite unique to the design and he has missile pods in it. I just really enjoy the laser prime design

The RTS toy is way better IMO. The orange weapons, windows and details are amazing and I like how compact it is at the deluxe size class. The plastic is also super dense. I do kinda like the new guy's truck mode a smidge more because it's bigger and has a trailer but the old one wins with its transformation, colors , plastic and details
Its an incredible figure to be sure. I remember him being hard to find, and I managed to find one in a comic shop in Maui

This Optimus went to the same designer of the shoulder school of Ultra Magnus I guess. I don’t like the blue stomach and black on the legs and blue feet I’d prefer more red and blue and silver and yellow and the legs are to long. I will wait for the Nemesis Prime/Scourge repaint definitely
