@@slader6079 I think it's a better visual, and I appreciate the effort of recreating the battle, but the continuity errors make it even harder to match the two visuals as describing the same event (example 6:20 froslass faints twice back to back, 8:30 jolteon switch in was much smoother transition)
Something I really appreciate about your videos, and you in particular, is you don't trash-talk your opponent. You talk about how good they are, you explain that even the smartest player can make unsuccessful predicts, etc, and this greatly enhances the experience of watching you play these tournaments. Best of luck to you!
@@SharpLCDTVI forget the channel name, but I used to watch a guy whose channel was mainly hilarious weird strategies (often on Anything Goes), and people throwing angry ranting tantrums. The tantrums were funny at first, but after a while I just felt gross watching. He had a... meanness to him. Sometimes he seemed to deliberately provoke people who weren't being toxic. He would aggressively belittle people who weren't doing anything particularly wrong, and might have just been a bit new to the game and competitive scene. And then I learned that a lot of big his tantrum videos were totally staged, and that was the breaking point. I found Freezai's channel around the same time, and kept comparing the two. I decided I vastly preferred his personality. It's incredibly easy to rip a person to shreds, downplay their ability or worth, and provoke them. There's lots of channels like that. It takes strength of personality to treat an opponent with respect whether they played well or poorly, whether you win or lose. I wanna frick'n become Freezai. I still need to work on how well I handle loss and mistakes. :D
@@danielhale1 if it makes you feel better, a lot of those videos of salty people on smogon are extremely fake. Especially if the protagonist is using wacky strats that seem incredibly random. The entire genre is corny tbh.
I think it wasn't even a prediction, he had the room to lose heracross for some chip and getting rid of the item is reasonably strong. It feels like covering the options more than a prediction
the post-match discussion about how you planned an entire team is very interesting to listen to, should def keep that up since the most common struggle most people have seems to be teambuilding, and dedicating just a little % of the video going into super details before the actual match makes it much more engaging and easier to understand!
Its a test on meta knowledge. I have a good team in a vaccume for NU but I know nothing about the NU metagame and it isn't great. This is where I struggle with teambuilding as it's a lot of research
I really enjoyed this video for the reasons you mentioned despite having already watched the live commentary for this game on his second channel. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching the latter too but it's great to get some more insight into NU as a format and how it influences teambuilding.
This is honestly so much more compact and fun than watching a full game. Like those are fun too but the way you made it short and gave us insight to your thinking is really good enjoyable content
The editing on this video is great! The way you explain the turns mid-match with cut-aways is really skillfully done to feel informative without being disruptive to the battle itself.
This was great to watch. I watched the battle footage on your other channel and didn’t understand all of the decision making and plans since I’m not a player myself but this video recontextualized it all easily
Really interesting to see this on Freezai live when I didn't understand the team, and then see it again with all the explanation. Amazing how much theory you can have behind your team.
This was so well done! Brilliant explanation of tournaments & your strategy. Also, I recognize all the effort that went to simulating the moves/match in Scarlet/Violet even though the whole match was really just on Showdown. Well done!
Insane effort you put in this, could have been just the showdown replay but this makes it so much nicer. Also reminds me of the good old DPP/BW days with the post narration lol. Great vid!
I watched the original video of the Showdown battle but there was so much more content including the educational side about your teambuilding and then your thought process, as well as the in-game visuals; that watching this felt like a brand new experience! This was awesome, looking forward to seeing more of your tourney grind!! 💪
I saw the replay on your other channel, but the introduction, teambuilding insights, and editing made it worthwhile to watch that game again. Seeing the same game on both channels really highlights the different identities of your channels. Great job at editing and best of luck!
The production quality is insane on this. It's been amazing seeing your content evolve and I'm excited to see what you do going forward. Excellent video and excellent gameplay!
You do such a great job of explaining what's going on. I'm a doubles player who found your channel after you began playing doubles tournaments. I played singles gens 5 and 6, but haven't played since, and you make it so easy to come into a video, get an understanding of a meta, and an idea of what high level players are thinking about. Really glad to have found your content!
That was awesome, i love seeing tournament content with context. And using the ingame to supplement the showdown is such a great idea! Would love to see more!
I love your videos on competitive Pokemon, you show and explain everything so well that's it's easy to understand even as one not as knowledgeable about competitive level play. Definitely hope to see more of your matches in this tournament!
These are really great. I dare say this is the best format for a competitive pokemon vid I've yet seen. You've always been the best at explaining the theory of the game in my opinion, and now we get the luxury of hindsight postcom with high production value. Please, please please! Make a ton of these going forward.
oooh, this was really interesting! It makes me think of a singles version of Wolfey's content. It's one thing to see all of the analyses but actually explaining your teams and then your strategies during an actual battle helps way more with understanding competitive stuff.
the quality of all your videos always astonishes me, but this one in particular was amazing. however you're getting the stat graphics and whoever your doing the mock-battles with. amazing stuff guys
This seems like such a pain in the butt of a video to make but is super well done and worth it. Kudos to Freezai, the editor and the gameplay simulator!
LOVED the weekly tournament summaries from before, cant wait for these. just thought id write that down here cause a lot of times avid viewers dont let the creator know when theyre enjoying the type of content the creator's putting out lol
This was much better than just watching the match, but you had already shown the match. Maybe a single video combining elements of both would be the way to go?
I remember early in Scarlett and Violet OU pokeaim, blunder, and CTC used Tera Fairy Jolteon in OU to decent effect (it certainly helps when the most common ground-type at that time was Great Tusk). Glad to see it be a great option in NU.
beautifully planned and played, that was awesome. i do wish the para into full para didnt happen though so we could see the veluza bruxish dynamic play out more but still a great game!
Looking at the screenshot on 0:52 it's actually really amazing Freezai hasn't won a team tournament before. Not only did he make it to the final, he won his match and the teams were tied. So his team probably lost a tiebreaker after he did his job in the most crucial moment.
This was fun, myself would play lower tiers on smogon a while back. Best day ever was when I threw a lanturn against a venusaur, and op switched to Electivire to use a elec move against my volt absorb :D.
Using in game to set up visuals of what happens in Showdown is beyond smart, I absolutely love this!
I kinda disagree, it looks confusing using both in game and smogon simulator
@@jacqueshebert6445 using in game makes it abit more interesting tho
Agreed nice touch
