@@Jacksonh_56 meh debatable, to me DQM's monsters actually feel like monsters, whereas Pokémon feel more like exotic/magical creatures.
I'd also say DQM has a larger range in quality in terms of monster design. Not every monster is iconic but that almost enhances the cool factor of the best designed ones so to speak.
Dragon Quest Monsters Joker which I called DQM was one of the best games I ever played. I was probably more obssessed with that one game then I ever have with a Pokemon game and I've played every one to date. I know this game has a 2nd or maybe even a 3rd game but I believe they were only japanese for some reason. This game looks good, but I wish they tried as hard like with their mainline games.
I actually tried this demo out myself when it initially launched at it was a ton of fun!
I haven't played any of the other DQ Monster games (though I do own Joker 2 on DS which I got for a good price not too long ago)
I'm pretty excited for this one! It also makes me want to run through Dragon Quest IV xD
That game looks like it takes Dragon Quest and adopts monster recruiting and fusing mechanics similar to SMT, so this seems like it will be right up my alley.
The original Gameboy Color series was great and this should be too.
DQ IV is the only one i've completed, played it on mobile but really loved its character-centric chapter based structure.
Thanks for bringing this game to our attention. Though not a huge DQ fan I seem to love DQ side games. I will definitely be downloading the demo to see how I like it.
Every time a new DQ side game comes out I keep hoping for 3rd DQ Builders game. Still keeping my fingers crossed.
After playing the demo I have a strong feeling that this will be my favorite JRPG of 2023

I love this series and think it’s better than Pokémon given some of the things it was doing with the first game. I thought the demo was great and made me excited for the games release but I’m having such a hard time with wanting to preorder this one. My problem is that there’s so many indie titles doing a similar formula as well if not better that makes the triple a price hard to swallow. Siralim has done a similar formula with faster battles for a few years now and a lot of interesting features. I don’t know why this just feels like a hard sell for the full price point.
Really wish they'd make something in the realm of DQM2. The random keys made the end game amazing.

Ngl, loved the demo and disnt expect more than one zone to explore, artstyle is cool too but theres 1 thing.. has anyone found Psaro's glasses? Either the world's a little blurry, or maybe thats his eyes
I’m super excited. I love DQ spin offs. DQ a treasured was one of my most played and enjoyed games last year. It was just a perfect enjoyable low stakes fun game, and this one looks in the same vein. Super excited for this one!

Dragon Quest Treasures launched as a Switch exclusive last year, but then got released on PC. Maybe the same thing will happen?

Dragon quest 4 and 5 are games I would suggest if you haven't had the chance to enjoy before. Both have really good stories in the franchise. As for the monsters games I've played dragon quest 2 cobi's adventure which I greatly enjoyed. Being excited when going through all my possible monster fusions and getting Blizzardy, Gismo, and or other strange monsters. I've also enjoyed joker to some degree but it was a worse experience than dq2: cobis adventure for me.
IDK if i'm wrong but im guessing after the initial gameboy game they got rid of that odd WLD stat that used to be on monsters. It was some pesky stat that made monsters disobey if you kept them boxed for too long.
That would be nice and funny if you had to use meat to capture again.
if dq treasures of all dq games ended up on pc for some reason this game should as well
I was disappointed by the poor frame rate in some cases and areas of the demo. Hopefully they patch it.
The frame rate really doesn’t bother me in these style of games. I get the concern, but unless there’s something critical and actioney, I usually don’t mind
Okay. I'm sensitive to frame rate issues. It's important for me to have a smooth gaming experience. I also wanted to like Dragon Quest Treasures, for instance, but couldn't stomach it due to the technical difficulties.
This game will be god tier if =
-We have a good post game
-A good challenge (demo is a little bit easy)
-We have some cool random event IG like the captain crow when it rain
Try beating the Large enemies in the demo, that's quite a fun challenge.

Just don't know why you can't give orders to the monsters in the arena so sad.
i tried the demo and it just really did not click with me... the combat felt so slow and unsatisfying, the game was too easy, and i thought the seasons idea wasn't very creative. it also felt like there was no stakes at all to the stories. i haven't played too many turn based rpgs but i fully completed persona 5 only recently, and maybe the slower pace of this game doesn't work for me. totally get the appeal though.
I was thinking the exact same thing. This game can really appeal to me if building the monsters has some reason for it, like actually needing a tank, healer and DPS. The story is keeping me interested, but I can get behind a more chill style if the spice is somewhere else.
Omg! Why each of you streamers don't explain how your monster's cant issue orders in the combat arena... Nor the wall that you hit at rank F with the last competitor. Just thay alone makes it ass and the graphics are copy and paste. Now besides endless urs of tedious grinding idk how getting past rank F in the arena is possible. Tou cant progress until you get through the ranks, you cant unlock synthesis until you do that. Sooooo, how thy hell your suppsoento move along? What kind of geniuses puts a wall so early in the game?
