    Miriam is so out of touch, have she read the quote from Walt Disney?
    "You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway."

    I feel like many people just don't understand the emotional attachment Harry Potter fans have to the franchise. Many of them grew up with Harry and found a second home in Hogwarts, a safe place when their real home or environment maybe wasn't safe or accepting. Even if they are adults now, their personality may have been shaped partly by Harry Potter and telling them to move on from this crucial part of their lives just shows that they never experienced the wizarding world as we did

    I am going to be 44 in a couple weeks and I have been a huge Harry Potter fan for years, collect merch, read, the books, seen the movies, etc etc. I have had many people tell me that Harry Potter is just for kids and i am immature or childish for liking it, same with Japanese anime which I am also a fan of, I don't care though, I like what I like and I am not harming anyone. I think Harry Potter is for everyone, young and old and will be loved by everyone for many generations to come. :)

      Walt Disney quote explains it here, "You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway."
      Moreover, boomers and some outdated millenials think we grown ups should focus on live action movies and TV news while GIVE UP cartoons when childhood is over. This is an insulting stereotype that cannot be applied to today, I met a few people who are such stereotypes, it turned me off instantly.

    Miriam forgot to notice that even the child actors have grown up to become brand ambassadors, Tom Felton & the twins, James & Oliver Phelps. Should they move on? No, they are there for us in our hearts when the Golden Trio actors have moved on.

      Personally, I think people are taking what she said out of context. It's not that she's saying adults can't enjoy Harry Potter. It's just that they shouldn't make it their whole lives. I thoroughly love Harry Potter but I would never have a themed wedding on it. Either way just because I don't agree doesn't mean she's not allowed to have her own opinion.

    It's so ironic, because the whole story literally centers around growing up. There are also countless adult themes and topics throughout the books that children quiet frankly won't understand.

  • @Girl4Music
    @Girl4Music 6 месяцев назад +5

    Yeah, I don’t think older generations of people (gen x and baby boomers) understand the significance of art/entertainment today. What it can do for younger generations of people (millennials and gen z).
    It doesn’t matter if it’s not Charles Dickins. Art/entertainment is more about representation now so it’s more personal and subjective than ever before. It’s about what people relate to and resonate with.
    Miriam just doesn’t get it because it’s not her generation despite being a part of Harry Potter.

      @@arrowghost very true. Some of the best, most classic Disney movies are family-targeted more than children-targeted. There’s adult jokes and innuendos embedded in on purpose to keep the whole family entertained, not just the children.

      @@Girl4Music , by the way, I even met some outdated millenials, they said they give up cartoons & video games the moment they enter adulthood who is all about live action movies & TV news, this stereotype is so insulting and turns people off. Though its unfortunate that is Miriam's thoughts on us, I still adore her portrayal as Professor Sprout and many of her other roles. She is of a generation born during the 2nd World War, and as a child, I'd imagine, grew up with a much different perspective and set of concerns in regards to life than those of us. I simply chalk this up to a harmless quip.

    If I learned anything from the 4th doctor’s Tom baker, “there’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes”.
    I make a doctor who reference because of the overlap between the two franchises, especially when harry potter’s Argus filch’s David Bradley was the late William hartnell in an adventure in space and time, but also the 1st doctor proper in the series a few times.

    Some stories appeal to everyone, no matter who they’re aimed at. Just look at Narnia as an example. CS Lewis wrote Narnia for a goddaughter, but when it was published, she was “too old” for fairy tales, and he decided to publish anyway for when she was old enough to enjoy them again. Some of us realize that stories like Narnia, Harry Potter and others are timeless stories. Miriam just doesn’t understand that.
