Hey Richard and Al,you really should get Time Gentlemen Please repeated on TV,…all these years later I still think it is the funniest TV Sitcom since Fawlty Towers!! 😊
Hi Richard, hearing you talk about your granddad being a headmaster reminded me of a conversation I had with a colleague at work. We got chatting and she mentioned where she grew up, in Cove, Franborough. I replied that my mum and dad came from there, and my uncle had been deputy headmaster at Cove school. She pulled a face and said she knew him. She only spoke to me after that if she had to. What my uncle done to upset her I never knew. As for Bedford, mum and dad moved there just before I was born so it is my home town. My brother went to "The Modern" as the other public school was known as, and yes Al was right there was a lot of rivalry between the two schools. Us thickoes who didn't pass the 11 plus get a scholarship to Bedford or The Modern like my brother, didn't really notice the boarders at both schools.
I'm watching this, working through the trauma of private boarding school and the University that followed, and then the TV, and the Podcasts. Oh.. the trauma. Thanks so much, you two, for helping me work through my tough childhood. Wankers
I didn't go to boarding school and would have had a similar knee jerk reaction to you in the past about those who did, but now I know a bit more about it, I feel very fortunate to not have gone and to have had the largely trauma free childhood and life. Others discussing their own trauma and challenges does not diminish your own and of course people have it much worse. Everyone should be able to tell their own story. I think it will help some others to open up. Sorry that it annoyed you and that your childhood was tough.
I’m West London born & bred but had a girlfriend from Bedfordshire so I had to go up there a lot when she was visiting her Father in a village there and it was like Village Of The Damned, truly a grim county full of weird Cousin Breeders
i'm a West London resident, and former Bedford resident, and concur with your comment. although i will add that SOME of the weirdos are quite lovely when you get to know them
that would have really worked probably anywhere other than on a video you have actively chosen to watch, featuring him... I mean, aside from it being mislabelled, how did you hope to be satisfied with that click?😆
@eonetim If literally anyone is in conversation with Richard Herring and the video title talks about going to the same school as you, I challenge you to NOT watch it, regardless of your memories of that person.
Al kicks ass!!!
Bigups from California!!!!
Comfortably my favourite guest you have. The ultimate raconteur.
You don't know what raconteur means do you?

At a glace,
I swore that was Harry Hill,
without the glasses.
Harry without glasses or you without them?
Not unlikely as they are Brothers!
The colour grading is very Fincheresque.
Ambivalent about it 😂

I was at Bedford School at the same time as Al Murray, albeit the year below. From memory, he was a bit of a nob.
