The only thing I didn't agree with was her insistence that they wear business suits. I was always against that. And hats, she wanted them to wear bowlers.
I argued that it would be impossible to find a dry cleaner to get them steamed and pressed once a week.

Jane Goodall inadvertently did one bad thing. She humanized chimps so much, that it obscured that this is an extremely dangerous animal. There have been chimps who received gifts from a human, and another chimp gets jealous and attacks that human... pulling, ripping, and biting off body parts. Without being graphic, they know exactly what we will miss the most! At least if a lion attacked a human, they would end it quickly.

@@janetmcarthur5257 When a "human" studies other animals they seem to inject the usual human behavior into the comparisons.
It just can't be helped I suppose.
      Human nature and all that.
But, this study did reveal the false definition in what differentiates man from animals and that is the ability for man to be the only tool user.
Since discovering that chimps do use tools, there will have to be a new criteria. Perhaps man's obsession with social media is the new standing definition now. Yes, chimps are social creatures but to what extreme.
Do they "follow" another chimp in groups and hang on their every word and action? Do they comment upon another's mundane daily life?
Perhaps it's the fact that when it rains, chimps just sit in it in disgust and humans run to get out of it or use umbrellas.
I'm sure that if we were to give out umbrellas to each tribe of chimps that they just might get to liking it.
The problem is, would they keep up with them, store them in a place for the rainy day, learn to repair them when the break or just use them as weapons on those days when your chimp neighbor is just bugging the hell out of you.
It seems in nature that animals don't keep up with their "stuff" like humans do. Well, some humans don't but I suppose we could kick them out of the defining human definition parameters.
I wonder if Bigfoot has a recliner in his cave?

Anyone telling you Big Foot doesn't 100% exist is a Complete jerk Dismissing Millions of Witnesses, 1000s of years of written and oral history, and Fossils through Bones... I have seen prints twice in the middle of no where, and no one around to prank me or with the skills, because they couldn't reach from tree to tree with that distance to just put one huge foot down in the middle, nor was there even a trial, I was heading straight to the middle of no where for some big Quarts Crystals! Other time was just as weird, and not fakable, like a person wasn;t out there, I was inspecting around my camp site, last days of the season back corner, no one there, like 3 camping spots out of 200, and I got an odd feeling, and just slept in my car, and not my giant huge tent! And went out exploring the woods behind my tent, because the feelings were to weird, and sure as shit, deep clear big foot prints in the moss and soft ground, and they went on for 100 feet, and disappeared into no where! There was no Tree to Grab, or anything, and bang! This second I get it, there was other trees back x amount it could climb and use as a Highway, of sorts, and now, just I get it, it didn't disappear, it walked backwards into its own prints, so you couldn't tell which tree it used to exit and be able to notice its path in the trees, probably noticeable with broken branches over the years! But anyway, no one put those prints there! But Bigfoot! If I seen a Big Foot I wouldn't be more shocked than a Bear! Accept Bears often are just being idiots when you see them! And its funny when they know it, but it takes them a second and they Run Away, Bears can sure be killers, but lets be real, some are pretty goofy and almost harmless! But those are the ones you don't see! But Bigfoot is calculated, and I had a Low IQ Buddy, real complete moron, but he'd get one over on us all, because he's dead set on it, as he always plots! Always Plotting, and if you see Bigfoot, and for a Reason, and something that can ripe you apart, and has serious anger issues, at the same time thinks the human is neat, and wants a closer look is dangerous! You don't know Bigfoot and the Woods Speak! But not looking it in the eyes, grunting lightly like I acknowledge you, and barely scuffing you feet into the dirt, might save your life better than pointing a Gun at the thing! But there are many types, and I am talking about Big Foot, not some monkey faced Hominid, or other similar types to the two. out of the hundreds and hundreds of hominids proven to have lived on Earth, many survive, and Big Foots seems to be the Nice One, but I am pretty sure allot of vicious killers in Prison are less criminal! They Kidnap People, always have, there is many types, and even the most friendless ones, will kidnap a women and rape her, or eat a man if hungry enough! They are Cave men, and some are more nasty, and we can all pretend all the other Hominids are Gone because it makes you feel good, and mostly because its good for the ecomony, but that is not the case. I think the indians beat them back, as per the stories, which was here or there, like everywhere, Big Foot eating Kids and taking them, or the Different types being worse and the Native maning up, and setting fires infront of their caves to choke them, as they fired arrows in! Than I think the Plagues got them, and hope species since we are close enough! and than we cut down all the trees, like in NH 3 times, last time up to 90% Clear Cut, and that hurt a population rebound, and we are now seeing that rebound! And more Cases! Way Way Back they use to Rule us, in many areas, like in Russia, and you can see this Gaint rocks stacked into Buildings, 20 Tons Rocks, and other people are going look at the oral history of what they said and later wrote down, they said those were cages for people, the Giants keep people in, and lets be real, the 1st Kings were very very tall! And we over threw them, from Old World to New World, and it could of been viruses, and not really us, and those table can turn! And they are probably are greatest threat, and they live in caves with bats! Even the different versions in China, and this Virus could be from them! They are Dirty!

The world isn't great and God will soon destroy this earth and has it ready for the furnace. Arbitrary opinions and self-belief systems are futile and irrelevant but facts are not. This country isn't great but awaiting destruction.

If you are talking about her opinions on the possibility of 'Bigfoot' existing, she is one of, if not THE earliest & foremost authorities on the behavior of large primates in the wild. Specifically Chimpanzees. Also being associated with the great studier of early hominids - Leakey, early on, she would be well cognizant of previous, much larger primate species like Gigantopithecus. Making her aware that it is not absolutely inconceivable that in v.remote reaches, primates as large as, or bigger than Gorillas may still exist.
Anyone can have an opinion on the likelihood of other non earth based life forms in space. Any scientist or layperson with any understanding of the absolute immensity of even the known universe, would think it statistically highly possible, if not currently provable, that other life forms exist. Or some hair found? This is what I am talking about, if you give it some thought and have read what experts would look for and now the limits of small groups, you wouldn't say bigfoot are possible. This is different than a smaller animal in less populated areas and areas that aren't technologically advantaged. Also the idea that life might exist in the universe and even intelligent life, is statistically likely but it is very unlikely that intelligent life has visited this planet.

The golden rule didn’t come with a list of exceptions. The golden rule exists in every major religion. That’s our common ground. That’s where we build the new world. But we are living under the crisis of the Golden Rule. When someone wants you to come to their land and make war on them so that they will have a chance to kill you, when they come to your land and make war on you indifferent to the risk of their own death, they are doing unto you what they want you to do unto them. Ordinary people may want only to be left in peace to live according to their own ways and they may be willing to offer the same to anyone who respects their wishes, but there are people who see it different. There are people who want war.

Jane Goodall has definitely changed the outlook of mankind as a whole, with respect to the treatment of our fellow animal travelers on this big blue rock. Anyone who has had a pet, or worked with animals, knows the bond that develops, and the 'personalities' that we can see in our animal counterparts. We can see the 'language' of the different species, and Jane has helped others to understand this. Through observation and interaction, we can get to know the specific language of any particular animal, to begin to understand them. We can then understand that we are animals, the same as they are, sharing this oasis planet.
It is also crucially important to note that, just like humans, animals will take advantage of situations, for their personal gains. And why not? That is what natural selection is. The adaptive, more aggressive animal will overpower the weak. This is a symbiosis which we have to temper with both compassion, and common sense, when dealing with non-human species. Where do we accommodate nature and when can we exploit it? I believe there should be a balance. What exactly the balance is I cannot say. I do know that we need to have real conversations about it. Keeping an opened mind, like Ms Goodall is a start. Her work is where this conversation started. Hopefully it will continue.

IMHO, the most significant scientist of the 20th century. She just went out there & DID science. She didn't let those who said she lacked education stop her. She didn't let those who mocked her conclusions silence her. She just honestly reported her genuine findings. And she looked through the eyes of compassion, which her critics jeered at as anthropomorphism. Perhaps her greatest revelation was that humans didn't create or really discover emotions. . .or even have the monopoly on them. She taught us that to acknowledge that other animals feel more than physical sensations is not to ascribe human characteristics to them, but simply to give emotions their rightful universal application. To think that so many still oppose her on this is a tragedy. God bless you, Dame Jane. 😢

Many years of reading Bigfoot encounters reminds me very much of known ape encounters. Many of the Bigfoot encounters corroborate each other. Some of the Bigfoot encounters suggest interreacting with them as we would with a great ape. Most note that they are sentient beings. It appears they are as individualistic as we are. A few encounters with them have that we know of have been bad but for the most part, have not. It's best to stay away from them. They know more about us than we know about them. They are intelligent.

@@splash5150izy .... I believe you are correct and since my research started with visiting Jane Goodall's research office and location within Lion country safari many times which has attached one of the best yet smaller koa campgrounds around is outstanding for all ages. The cabins, well shaded koas, outstanding pool with air conditioned facilities in a family oriented setting in the property with the animals , miniature golf, large petting zoo and just so much more is a must do for any family. I have been there many times and I never got bored followed in addition to Jane Goodall's Lab , office and research center is just amazing. One thing since I started my research and knowing these areas around Lion country safari had tracks, other evidence and sightings in which there had been reported Sasquatch activities within just a couple blocks from Lion country safari with reports if unexplained African deer species owned by lion country safari found under suspicious situations found dead and tore apart in odd ways really has me wondering if Jane did not see Sasquatch hunting going on within Lion country safari in which she was doing research on.
Anybody that knows lion Country safari knows they keep their predatory animals aways for non predatory species is why I bring this up. There is well respected named Sasquatch researches out there that identified the locations around Lion country safari from throughout America and Canada alike. Another thing, there is supposed to be four main species documented by 3 Government doctors since 1960 in this family with full reports. Out of the 4 species the Florida / southern state species is supposed to not be like the species from other areas of America and Canada at all with a lot of differences actually. It is supposed to be like a smaller cousin of the other 3 which to me, it seems more realistic to be more associated in a closer relationship to actual primates that what we normally hear about. With that said, I am positive Jane Goodall's research would for sure include them. With Jane's Investigations, her eye sight would if been indeed superior than the average human to spot the slightest thing within the woods more so than most in regards to primates. I am sure she spotted then on the property. I am myself familiar with the woods in the area and around Lion country safari. I am positive the species is there in the area where Jane has witnessed their behavior but with her not wanting to spark fear in those around, that I speculate she indeed kept silenced about.

It does seem incredibly arrogant to assume there is no other life, let alone intelligent life, in the universe. Just because we've not discovered it doesn't mean it isn't there. Perhaps there are other intelligent alien species and if, by chance, they have discovered us, they may have seen how we treat our animals, our world, & decided they want no part of it.

There is a great canyon between possible and proven. There might be a mid canyon ridge of plausible.
Much of our rhetoric is based in isolated tribes finding other people in the land of Nod, or on the other side of the cataracts, mountains, lake or ocean.
This analogy is reinforced in fantasy fiction like War of the Worlds, Flash Gordon, Martian Chronicles and Star Trek... But all those were fantasy metaphors for modern politics and colonialism....just like Gulliver's Travels.
You weren't supposed to take them as inspiration or a quest assignment.
As it is for the Genesis origin tales of Hebrews adopted by Christians and Muslims... The two tales of the creation are quite short and not very detailed.
In Ch1 the universe and Earth narrative is just bullet points and not far removed from modern cosmologists and the biological record.
      1 Physical universe and earth
      2 the atmosphere
3 the Earth rises from the Seas and the plants grow
4 the lights in the sky
      5 sea life
6 land animals and man on the same "day" ...male and female he created them (in the image if God).
      7 it was done...rest....
That's actually pretty good for a bronze age chronicle of a stone age oral tale of a wandering people. Pretty close indeed.
Then the second story starts ?after the 7th day?...or is it a detailed retelling of day 6?... with the poetical planting of a garden, watering the garden, making Adam of mud...Eve of Adam. (Adam meaning Man. Eve meaning Mother)...the rule...the serpent....the disobedience...the removal from Eden.... God fashions clothing of animal skins for them and sets them up east of Eden between the listed rivers (between Ethiopia and Iran) where they raise children.
Never does it say our Earth is the only creation...there are two accounts of the origin of humans...never did it say there were no other intelligent life forms in either chapter.
In chapter 6 other intelligent life forms are mentioned...life that could even breed with the daughters of the earth. ... Or are these sons of heaven and giants only a different description of Seth's descendents?
We post Europeans have mixed these stories in our heads with similar Greek and Egyptian stories and SF fantasy snd movies....to the point of being surprised as adults just reading those tales with an open mind as if we had never heard them before...like reading Homer.
So if you have developed a religious bias that you are the only people...or that orthodox religions demand that....
Then that bias is possibly yours.

In Sweden we have bigfoot but they're called people of the forest or forest people (skogsfolk) that are said to be furry giants related and similar to humans and can even mate with humans, there are even stories of people who are descendent from these "sasquatch" or forest people (maybe Neanderthals? Some people claim bigfoot, if they are real, sleep in caves in bad weather). The forest people are said to be distinct from Trolls (common in Scandinavian folklore).in that they are completely covered in hair and not all of them are aggressive towards humans, which trolls are supposed to be according to folklore

    • @ianmacfarlane1241
      @ianmacfarlane1241 4 года назад +1

That's never going to happen. The Loch Ness monster nonsense should be consigned to the annulus of history - it's done it's job and should be put to bed. It was invented in less sophisticated times, but the tourist industry doesn't need fantastical monsters to get people to travel to the Highlands any more.
Like an ageing rock star, or footballer who's legs have gone, Nessie is fast becoming a national embarrassment - though to be fair 99.99% of Scots at least have the sense to keep the Nessie at a distance, and it's consigned to the tourist tat shops on the Royal Mile.
Jane Goodall's reputation will be just fine.
