She's not gentle. I was 9 when she came to our school in sierra leone, aisf (american international school of freetown). She seemed so nice and all, then she asked if we had any questions about chimps. I was 9 then, and asked a quite technical question for a kid that age... and imagine anyway, stripped from country and brought into a severely disabled country, alone... ''if you trained them with exercises, would their muscles pump out like in a bodybuilder manner, becoming more bulged and apparent?''.... instead (probably because she didnt know) she turned the question into something else.... and answered in a demeaning and patronizing way ''pfffft.. don't u know that chimps are already immensely stronger than men''... in such a good acted way, with dissing laughter... she made the whole class laugh at me and make me feel terrible. That was the end of the question. So there is your perfect gentle human. A good person doesn't do that. Continue making the world believe you are this image, but I have seen you. 20-25 years have past and I still remember you crystal clear. I also tried to rectify the question, but you clearly avoided the contact, as you clearly knew you had created a false situation.

She can't take it with her, she is a philanthropist and will most likely leave it for more studies to occur after she is gone. I've always been a huge fan. I remember as a kid back in the 70s, waiting for the National Geographic magazine to come in the mail every month, just hoping that there would be a story with her interactions with the chimps or any other story with her. If only there were more like her in the world, we would be so much better off. If more people had her compassion for the planet and it's inhabitants, we wouldn't be facing the climate calamity we will soon have to either deal with, or die.
Yeah me too...I used to get National Geography magazine from a old used book store. No one was buying those books back then so they sold them to me for 25cents. During the 80s I read those books from cover to cover....
Yep! I had a cool uncle who always gave us a subscription for a Christmas present! I would read and re-read all of those articles, often neglecting my homework for much more meaningful reading! Pics, too!
Seth gets all the fun assignments. // It is encouraging that Jane Goodall's environmental concern will reach a new audience. All Good. The world needs more people of conscience who inspire us to be the stewards of the natural world around us.
We need more people like Jane Goodall in this world. People don't know that the usual actions by humanity is hurting or destroying our own world, our ecosystem, the very planet Earth that we all home and it's not just affecting animals, but it's affecting our planet and the humans that live on it. Jane Goodall, David Attenborough, Steve Irwin, Fred Rogers. All of them part of the greatest generation of people who dedicated their lives to the creatures that share this planet we live on as our home. But this planet is not owned by us. As Jane Goodall has said: No one anointed us ruler of this kingdom. It's not ours to own. We are simply one of the animal species on this planet, not separate, not superior. We hold in our hands a responsibility to preserve harmony in the natural world, to demonstrate compassion towards all who call this home. So many living creatures have feelings, know loss, suffer pain. We must understand the mutual dependence between humans and animals. Only if we understand, can we care. Only if we care, can all be saved.
She’s one of the greatest human beings I’ve learned about from my teens. 💚And has ignited my love and respect for wildlife and the environment, along with Sir David Attenborough the late Steve Irwin, etc. My hope is that eventually that the earth’s animals will be free from human torture, poaching, hunting for sport, and extinction...😢🙏🏾🌎
The scientist told her, "Don't set up a feeding station to draw the chimps to you." But she did. Hence, she was tampering with their lives. Later, the chimps all went psycho and started killing their own babies. Somebody said, "It's because of you, Jane, you tampered with their lives too much." That is the last time I ever read anything about her.

I’m glad she mentioned that our planet is finite. This is exactly why we can not have infinite population growth because we are all consumers of this beautiful planet. She is also right that we can all do something. Use cloth shopping bags and cotton mesh bags for produce rather than using disposable plastic bags from the store, eat less meat, buy humanely raised organic meat when you do eat it. View it as an occasional luxury item. Be conscious and wise when using utilities in your home and conserve as much as possible. Buy or make cloth napkins rather than buying paper ones. Refrain from eating fast food as much as possible because of the environmental damage done by factory farmed products sold in fast food establishments and the paper and plastic garbage they generate. Grow some of your own food on a balcony, patio or garden bed. Feed the birds and provide them with fresh water every day. Plant a wild flower meadow which helps pollinators, birds and butterflies. I am sure there is a million more others could think of, but these are just a few things I have challenged myself to do this year. Thank you Jane Goodall for bringing this issue to our attention!

Amazing lady. We all have to do be active every day to keep our earth healthy. I went vegan 10 years ago, we water our garden with rainwater, we grow a small garden, hang our clothes out to dry, shop mostly in thrift stores, have a small home of 900 sq. ft.. we have a compost that is recycled in our gardens, we recycle and we are always trying to good stewards of mother earth.

I WISH that Jane Goodall would go UP against YOU TUBE when it comes to their reluctance to ban Baby Monkey videos that have even ONE red flag. It's crazy to me that You Tube allows some of this torture on their sites-for profit of these horrible people who abuse Monkeys for profit and monetary gain. If anyone could shut them down and bring attention, it's Jane Goodall.
Little Flint was one of the chimps that appeared in a story about Jane's work in Africa in National Geographic Magazine. He was so cute and I renamed my little sister "Flint," as she reminded me of him, cute and sweet. All these years later, we were talking about those times not too long ago and here, you've got a pic of the original little Flint in this video. So COOL! Still lovin' Jane and all of her efforts!
She has had so much wonderful experience with animals. The Chimps and other endangered species and in her elder years is doing so much still. I often wonder what happened to her son. Did he follow in his parents' footsteps? I think they called him Grub. I have had students who volunteered with Roots and Shoots as kids and later went to Africa. Her influence is enormous.
People like her, David Attenborough will be missed greatly once there gone. I can only hope that they will see hope and optimism for our species by that time
She's so gentle, yet fearless
And I can see that the WHY of these qualities is that she embodies a genuine appreciation of the natural world we live in.

Thank you so much Jane Goodall. As a biologist I have seen you from my high school-college-and older adult years. I also like whiskey :) You've been an incredible inspiration to me. You've made a huge impact with your humble life. Thank you forever, Andi in Wisconsin, USA
Jane is amazing. I hope we listen to her.
Oh my heart
She is so inspiring!
Thank you!
She’s great!!! 👍👍👍
Wonderful wonderful woman!
I WISH that Jane Goodall would go UP against YOU TUBE when it comes to their reluctance to ban
Baby Monkey videos that have even ONE red flag. It's crazy to me that You Tube allows some of this torture on their sites-for profit of
these horrible people who abuse Monkeys for profit and monetary gain. If anyone could shut them down and bring attention, it's Jane Goodall.
I just met her but i love her already people like her take a place in my heart like robin William 💯
I love this exceptional hero and woman.
Just do something, just do one thing.Amen Jane, Amen.
Amazing human being god bless u
Little Flint was one of the chimps that appeared in a story about Jane's work in Africa in National Geographic Magazine. He was so cute and I renamed my little sister "Flint," as she reminded me of him, cute and sweet. All these years later, we were talking about those times not too long ago and here, you've got a pic of the original little Flint in this video. So COOL! Still lovin' Jane and all of her efforts!
Having a tremendous Purpose for all of life is key to youth and health
An amazing person!!!!
Beautiful, gracious, Goddessy Soul!🦋
Wonderful human. One good action makes a big difference in this World.
I agree with her completely. If each of us did just one thing, consistently, we could help our world so much....
Haha “if I got my opportunities from my legs then thank you legs” that’s such a badass response I love it
She has had so much wonderful experience with animals. The Chimps and other endangered species and in her elder years is doing so much still. I often wonder what happened to
her son. Did he follow in his parents' footsteps? I think they called him Grub. I have had students who volunteered with Roots and Shoots as kids and later went to Africa. Her influence is enormous.
“You’re asking people to do… a lot”
“Well, why not?”
When we are like her the world will be better.
Yes. Well said.
God bless you Jane Goodall 👋😁✌️
Inspirational ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
People like her, David Attenborough will be missed greatly once there gone. I can only hope that they will see hope and optimism for our species by that time
