@@memezoffuckery3207 I'm pointing out that doing this with a firearm is extremely unsafe. It isn't unreasonable to think people might attempt to do something like this after seeing it demonstrated. You could literally die or kill someone.
Man, i just discovered this youtube channel last night. Outstanding. Plus the shout out to Josey Whales. Keep it up man, you're enlightening this 48 year old man.
After seeing Josie Wales for the first time on cable, I taught myself this trick too! Used my colt navy replica...works great and feels slick to pull off.
The good news is people who have already owned a gun for years know these tips, but the dumbass that just went to the store yesterday needs to hear it.
Prop fabricator here. This is one of many reasons why I strategically add lead to my builds, even when I'm just modding a toy. You can fix the center-of-mass, and you can increase the momentum just enough, without having to worry about the actor accidentally cold-cocking anyone.
Thanks for this cool video. I first saw it a few months ago and 1-2 months ago started practicing on an old green and orange plastic toy revolver and after just one night of practice I was able to do it and have just been doing it more and more since, like when I learned how to spin sticks. I'm going to send this video to a friend of mine.
I just picked up an Uberti Remington 1858 replica and I cant wait to learn all this stuff, I skipped midlife crisis and went right to second childhood.
THANK YOU for showing this. I have been obsessed with how this mananuever is done tried numerous times but could never fully see the one point of action THE PIVOT... The lighting in the trading post scene of Josie Wales makes it harder to see the pivot . thank you for answering this
I have a double action with a very heavy trigger and I always do tricks like this to show off with people around. The gun is always unloaded and is always in a safe direction.
One issue that needs to be brought up: If you're a person with shorter fingers, you can't really loop the finger around and into the trigger well, so you have to let the gun flip onto your index finger before you can spin it around, instead of starting with your finger in the trigger well. longer fingers make this trick easier..it's doable with shorter, stubbier fingers, but it's not as easy as when you have longer fingers that can loop into the trigger well from the start.
Are you left-handed or ambidextrous? I notice you wear your hogleg in a right-handed crossdraw holster, but you have the left-handed dexterity of either a natural-born southpaw or someone who's put forth the effort to become ambidextrous or mix-handed. Arnie trained to handle weapons and shoot ambidextrously for 'The Terminator'. *Edit/Note:* If it took more than one shot, you weren't using a Jakobs. 0:58 Super easy! Barely an inconvenience!
The efforts that both Schwarzenegger and Patrick put into playing their versions of Terminators is really impressive. Arnie also talked about training himself to reload a shotgun without looking.
For YEARS I wanted to get a tattoo of the poster for this movie. My idea was that as my skin began to wrinkle, my rye modern Clint would begin to replace Clint’s shouting mug.
I have an Uberti Walker..it weighs over 4.5 lbs. Eastwood used Colt Dragoons as well. Plenty big but a bit lighter. The issue is the length too. A Colt 1860 Army is plenty lighter and shorter. The 1873 SAA was designed off the 1860 retrofit
@@prairiebhoy9199 The 1860 is lighter than a Dragoon, but it is not shorter. The barrel on the 1860 was lengthened to compensate for the shorter frame and cylinder so they come out more or less equal. Kinda makes it easier finding a holster long enough to fit either gun.
Hey so I know that this is an older video of yours but I absolutely love your content and I have to know: What is that jacket of yours and where did you get it?
Actually, I only just watched the Outlaw Josey Wailes but as a kid I remember seeing this in a western at one point and learned it on my old cap guns but I’m probably rusty now. I might try this again on my 22. Peacemaker (unloaded just to be clear)
i also obcessed over that scene and watched it over and over in slow motion till i figured out what was going on. Being doing it ever since with my cap and ball 44
Amazing! Thank you for the video! Do you have any suggestions on best guns for gun spinning? I got a Colt Army 1860 from Denix. Feels quite challenging to spin, but maybe it's like in all beginnings. In all other RUclips videos I've seen they Peacemakers or other shorter guns.
I have an Italian Colt clone I've parted out for spares, so it's non-firing at this point. I'll remove the trigger (in order to save my finger as well as the tension spring) to make practice easier.
I apologize for the lateness of my question, I dont know why YT only now thought to recommend your video. Wasn't this also know as the Curly Bill spin ? Normally I wouldn't quibble, but this is a history channel !
Good video shoot real good video. Actually shows how to instead of just doing it. Later got try on my remmi Dang 8 “ barrels make it little tough but getting it. Thanks ur ole wv hillbilly buddy.
Great video, could you do a video on the 2017 Hickok film, I watched half of it but couldn’t stand it because I love wild bill’s story and the movie is unlike the real story.
Love your video me and my brother where using denix replica colts and I was giving up then spinned it and shot him badass don’t worry it was only a cap gun
I have wondered for years how he did that. In the original story by "Forest Carter" he referred to it as the Missouri Roll. It's actually kinda disappointing to finally find out how simple it really is.
I just want to point out one of the reasons this is even safe at all with a revolver is because until the hammer is pulled back the trigger tension is extremely strong and so you're unlikely pull the trigger accidentally
No, that is not why. This trick was and is done with single action revolvers, meaning ones which can only fire when the hammer is rearward because the trigger performs the single action of engaging the sear. The trigger is dead until the hammer is cocked. You're thinking in terms of DA revolvers and their heavy triggers but spinning actually doesn't work well with DA revolvers because you have less space in the trigger guard and the balance is different as well on most double actions.
Ow. Tried this sitting down and pistol-whipped myself in the knee XD

One singular YIKE
and suddenly just like that, your adventuring days were over!
This made me laugh😂
Practice slow. Because slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. You don't want to go too fast too early, and pick up bad habits.
Damn...that's actually really good advice for a number of situations.
This same concept can be used for typing people.
I would characterize pointing a gun at yourself as a bad habit in firearms handling, so probably best not to practice this at all.
@@swissarmyknight4306 You’re pointing a gun at yourself either way if you’re spinning any firearm.
So might as well not watch any of these videos.

Unless its unloaded: oh thank god

Can vouch for the weight thing. I have a 3+ pound lemat replica (non-firing) and the road agent spin is VERY easy with the lemat.
I actually mastered that spin using a 22 version of an 1873 model single action
Wow great instructions I was definitely doing it the hard way :D
Tried it with a S&W 1905 hand ejector, it works fine with a double action but I wouldn’t risk it loaded unless it was that or a trip to Yuma haha

This makes a very flashy draw from a grip forward holster as well.
Reverse the process, and that's how you re-holster your gun into a butt-forward position.
