I remember when this record came out I was living in Brooklyn New York where I was born and raised my brother was a hell of a DJ his name was Greg Myers I had the honor to meet Nikki Luciano on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn great guy my brother is tense past DJ's of that era we're extremely instrumental and bring you the best music forward different genres Nikki I salute you
I worked at the Gallery in 1978 and was friends with Arthur, I have this Red Vinyl tattoo on my arm. Great Memories. But Steve Rogers I prefer the A side
hi everyone, thanks for all your support, I TOTALLY agree w comments on A SIDE rocking more! A side was mixed by Jimmy Simpson and I, Valerie's brother! I always play the A side, it moves so much better! LOVE TO ALL, Nicky
I remember that night very well, it was the summer of 1978 when this record came out, and he played it, and played it. I guess that is why I love it still today. KUDOS Nikki.
I was with Arthur on, 12th Street when he was cutting 1/4 inch loops with a razor blade (I think for the first 24/24 music.) If anyone even knew all the places this track had been before it got to the dance floor. The dumbek, (middle eastern drum) tracks played by Vince Delgado were added on free studio time, (I think it may have been poached from Terry Riley and La Monte Young) at Mills College in Oakland. Wnen Arthur would come to San Francisco we would go to The Stud and other dance clubs and, ever humble but obsessed, Arthur would walk it up to the D.J. and then beam when the dance floor went completely crazy. I am really overjoyed to see all this appreciation and recognition for Arthur's genius. this is one of my college films to 24/24 Music. (others to Reach, and Golden Windows, Tower of Meaning) ruclips.net/video/9huFaKfEKH0/видео.html House music was just one single facet. Pop songs, avant garde classical progressive rock with the Necessaries, all cutting edge superlative.
Giovanni Ferrini Side A is mixed by Jimmy Simpson and this side is "remixed" by Dinosaur (Arthur Russell & Nicky Siano). So Side A is technically the original mix, while this side is the remix (Version) even though this side is mixed by Dinosaur who produced the track originally
i haven't heard the whole side yet, but this sounds like the version david usually played at the loft. i fucking LOVE this song, i used to loose myself on the dancefloor to this. Edit: nope, i think it was side A that david used to play, my bad.
There is a s literally a 16th note tape gap before the last bridge. If your in The mix you have to Catch it and bump forward or drop to the next 1/4 off phrase
@@KurtisHord That's a bit of an Arthur Russell thing tho, isn't it? I wasted hours trying to sync up "This Is How We Walk On The Moon" before i realised he very deliberately was knocking off 1/4., 1/3 wherever it made sense to him.
the best part about the comments of disco songs on youtube are all the stories and people whose lives were affected by this music. its beautiful
This is most definitely the "VERSION" hot like fire !!!!!

This version if far better than the A-Side
agree completely
+SoulStylistJukeBox And there is an edit by Optimo on one of their own compilations - a bit shorter but def doing the business on the dancefloor!
SoulStylistJukeBox Facts
This side is where it's at. What a banger.
I hear this is the first record ever produced by a DJ , and oh what a record !

Are you THE Nicky? The one we hang out with circa 2016?
God bless you Nicky Siano!
This is hands down the best version

Side A is sicck but this is the ballsy play, all the way to the end.

I always lost my mind to this version, on Nicky Siano's dancefloor!

Schoner Classic..................................!!!!!
Man that A-Side is garbage... The rawness of the B-Side is real!
this is classy. this is stunning!! thx for the download link
HELLS YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yessssssssss ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Buttermilk, bottom.
Straight up funk!!!
nice cut!!
B shits on A
Boss tune...The A side is more on the rollin' tip but this B side has so many great arrangement peaks......kiss me....again
cooler than the A side, i m o
nicky siano rocked this in the buttermilk bottom in n.y.c.both sides.i dont care for the remix. Those were the days
I was at Buttermilk Bottom too!!
David Byrne on guitar on this version.
dope
Tune
B side feels way too empty, the A side has all the instruments and feels much more danceable.
I like the chaos. Great song... (pretty vinyl too)
So confused. So this side is a remix and side A is the original mix?
Co-produced by a DJ,. anyway, seeing as how it's credited to both Nicky Siano (the DJ) and Arthur Russell.
Perlopiu+++
@RUSSELLDJJB
you never been to the plant in your life --
Lyrics anyone?
What a hot mess
You obviously have zero taste in music
It sounds like a band falling down the stairs while fucking, and it still keeps time. Shit whips dick and balls
There is a s literally a 16th note tape gap before the last bridge. If your in
The mix you have to
Catch it and bump forward or drop to the next 1/4 off phrase
A beautiful mess. I like the human errors. Quantization has sucked a lot of the soul from dance music.
