  • I'm excited that in the first month of my lawn care business I saved enough money to upgrade my old and pathetic Murray (Walmart) lawnmower. However thanks to that old machine I had the chance to do multiple jobs in my first month. So far I'm really happy with its performance.
    Thank you for watching!

    I just bought the same Honda HRN216VKA, and it's great. It's very lightweight and easy to maneuver. The "thumb speed" control takes a bit to get used to, like anything new. I like that I can adjust the "max" speed with the tab under the thumb paddle.

    thanks for reviewing this model HRN216VKA..i'm buying this today at Lowe's, price went up to $549.00. So sad Lowes and Home Depot stop selling the HRX 217 model, i heard it was the Mercedes (top of the line) of all Lawn mowers. Oh well, I will take the best available lawn mower out there, as longs as its Honda model.

    Oh, and I see you mentioned your Murray mower. I'll say this, I had a basic 21" that was a little over $100 on sale at walmart 5 years ago when we lived in a townhouse. Yes it was a gas hog and it burned oil more than it should, but it never failed me. I even had it for a short time when we bought our house with a half acre and it still ran fine. Sold it and bought my current Toro, and it's very unreliable, stalls out on not flat or smooth ground and I've done everything I can to resolve the issue and it still does it. Sometimes those old less than worthy but reliable mowers are great for a backup.

    When checking oil in a Honda mower do not screw the dip stick in to check oil. Also after several hours of use change the oil again for motor break in. Hopefully you did not damage your motor for not reading the instructions.

  • @triton302
    @triton302 3 года назад +2

    When they say "without oil" that just means they didn't add the amount needed to operate it safely. When assembling an engine, whether small or automotive, you have to use some oil when putting everything together, you can't just build an engine completely dry. The white smoke is most likely just burning off what was already in there. Nothing to worry about. Every new mower I've used for the first time did this.

      The newer Toro mowers are crap. I have the 22" recycler with the B&S motor and it's a stall-fest, if you're not cutting on a flat level surface the mower will start to stall out because of the crap carburetor that B&S uses now. That and the FWD sucks on it. I'm actually cleaning it up so I can sell it, and going to buy a Honda early next week.
