Oh I just realized, since Cayde is still speaking here....So these are Before D2V then? Some visitations/investigations within the Black Garden before the Red War? Well the Vanguard communication texts couldn't have just happened After [Curse of Osiris] and before [Warmind], yes? [gets a bit confused at the end of the video]
Idk if this is dumb to say, but have you, or anyone else, ever thought that Rekkana and The Mysterious Stranger could be on in the same? Both Exos, both seem to be “dark guardians”, both seem to know about certain timeline events, and her disappearing and reappearing act could be from vex technology in the Black Garden after making the deal with the darkness and her and her teams bodies never being found. Idk, it’s just a thought. I don’t remember too much about The Mysterious Stranger from Destiny 1 so I could be very wrong. But it’s an interesting thought. Maybe I’m looking too much into it?
I don't think it's hand held but something definitely similar... But I wonder why she didn't unclinch her fist... She said she asked for the thing she wanted most and all it could give her was something that would take it away... I think she wanted the power to bring Lisbon back but all she really got was power to kill him where he stood and she hesitated
@@EarCat Nah it has to be the stompee hunters that run around with dust rock blues and Not Forgotten's for the past year and a half, collecting tens of thousands of kills on just these two guns alone.
@@chairmeme6231 she can't use Dawnblade, she was the one that accepted the deal with the Darkness along with the titan. She tried to get out of the Black Garden.
Seems pretty clear to me that the warlock and Titan took the deal with the darkness, but the hunter didn't because what he wanted was the love of the warlock. So he "turned" on them because they betrayed him and sided with the darkness.
The Void is not the darkness. The Void is absolute dark matter space, its energy in a space that continues on that never ends but also has no real beginning. Its that purple space area that we see in the dreaming city and its the space that the vex and hive travel though to go through time and space.
Lisbon was not evil and he knew that his friends liked having those dark powers ,but the Darkness took Rekkana's love from him and other things from them. He was the only one that resisted the temptation. Great video Matt and Gammatrap's artwork 👌🏻!!!
Yea it took a second, the part that let me realize that was when it said two ghosts parts had been scattered and that the titan and warlock had dropped their ghosts also it may seem that she probably didn’t really love him to a full degree do to her powers of foresight but that’s just a thought.
@@domc9801 That's an interesting point about there only being two ghosts, but they also said very clearly, "We all took the deal." They also ask him what he got in return. Lastly, they say that he "catches" his ghost before it falls, the other two allowed their ghosts to fall and break. So I'm pretty sure he did end up taking the deal and becoming a "dark guardian", but there's obviously a lot of questions that remain. Why did he save his ghost? Did he take it with him? Why did he turn? If it was about love, well, he already had her love, he didn't need to ask for that in a deal. Something clearly changed after the deal though, not before. He seemed content with her love, with her power, and with what was going on. Only after the deal did he somehow feel betrayed. I hope they expand on this lore, this is pretty juicy!
@digital encore I mean maybe the deal wasn't exactly consensual? Maybe it happened more like an accident or a con? It's easy to say yes to something when you don't know that you're actually making a binding contract by saying so, it could be the case that he never fully agreed and thus knew that these powers were wrong and they could never leave as long as they thought they were a good thing?
what happends when light and dark plays tug-a-war on the mindset of a guardian? be drained of both and decay away from immense confliction? return to normal? become partially taken? soo many questions.
I would too, but in reality if they ever added a dark guardian class most of the playerbase would play as that class, and that would throw off the balance of classes.
it would be interesting to see a whole new class instead of just add new skill tree to current classes, then again that would mean they have to make a new set of armor for that class and i don't feel like bungie gonna do that.
13:52 : if that line of dialogue is meant to be from Lisbon-13, I think we have the basic reason for why he turned on them: because the Darkness is a bad deal and they don't get that?
Yeah, the Darkness took Rekkana's love for him and they liked those powers, they were persuaded but Lisbon knew something was off. He stopped them from getting outside the Garden.
No doubt about that. The "rock" at the gardens center is the stump of the tree with silver wings. It was cut down during the first war between the light and the darkness
@@Sephaos it can certainly be interpreted as such. But wouldn't that more accurately describe the pyramid ships (and maybe even the traveller), given that they litterally seem to be physical shells arround something divine?
I feel like Lisbon realized what accepting those gifts meant and didn’t actually take them and fought his fire team because they became enemies of the light
Bungie was saying that next season is gonna be big, revolutionary even. The moon also hints at the darkness. I have a feeling all of this is leading to that. Very excited to see what is to come.
"Hints" at the Darkness. If by hints you mean "slaps a giant obvious Darkness Dorito and foretells the coming of the literal, physical Darkness," then yeah, it hints 😊 no hard feelings, just struck me as funny.
I think you're missing a key detail in the final lore entry. Cayde says that they found TWO dead Ghosts. I think that's significant to the story. We know from the previous lore entries that Rekkana and Yardarm-4 both accepted the deal, but it was never explicitly said that Lisbon accepted. His Ghost and light were both drained, but we've seen first hand ourselves and with Saint-14 that drained light can return. I think this is all meant to suggest that Lisbon rejected the Darkness and regained his light and Ghost, he then turned on the other two because he knew they accepted the deal and were now allies of the Darkness, who is the enemy of the Traveller.
You made it, we have heard your cries for help & soon we will answer Who are you? Don't you recognize us? We are not your friend, we are not your enemy, WE ARE YOUR....SALVATION
Dark Guardians would be a good expansion if done well. like the option to make a deal with the darkness to become a dark guardian on that character. and if you become dark, all your supers are replaced with completely new dark ones, the vanguard exiles you (you can't go to the tower, and can't use the existing vendors) and a new social space for dark guardians only and new vendors in the worlds for dark Guardians to use.
would be sick though in the future of destiny we encounter Rekkanna and Yardarm and actually have to fight them like a boss battle but Bungie wouldn't do that but it would be a nice concept like if we actually fought Uldren in Forsaken
Now this could be a part of Year 4 or in the future. I think with the Eris cutscene on October 29, 2019 implies that we could be wielding the dark. This should be the time where we battle the REAL Savathûn. UPDATE: 2021 (Year 5) is The Witch Queen.
Yep, sounds like it. Sadly, it seems like Lisbon killed his fireteam out of the same fear and ignorance of the Darkness that the Vanguard have. I feel the Witness may have taken advantage of that fear and ignorance to manipulate him to its side.
Maybe Uldren will be of the first Dark Guardians and show us how to wield the Dark. I'm guessing this only because other Light users would more than likely still be hunting him down or at the very least recognize him. He'd need to know how to protect himself better. He also wielded dark while holding a shard of the traveler maybe hinting he'd wield both one day as a guardian.
It seems to me that Lisbon was the only one to keep from going completely crazy. While the other two gave in too the powers and temptation, he was the one who fought it off and tried to get his friends too see they have been tricked. But realizing that they were gone, that the friends he knew were gone; he had to stop them before they got out. At least that is my thought on this lore, either really hoping we learn what happened to them.
No he took the deal but didn’t really give him what he wanted and regretted it, I think he probably wanted the warlock to truly love him but it didn’t turn out that way for him, I say this cause I feel do too her powers she didn’t fully love him, but hey could be wrong.
Yeah I've been praying for everyone too, especially the wildlife! I've never seen something like this. We really need to get cracking on taking better care of the planet and disaster control. They say climate change and pollution is intensifying things like fires, floods and storms.
Karthik Sankaran I’m hoping for some light guardians vs. dark guardians. I just hope they don’t make it an option for us to wield both. City of heroes/villains style
I think that way back when, in season of Drifter they was obtaining information on weather the player base would be fairly divided with the choice of drifter or the vanguard and after seeing the massive percentage of people who chose drifter that in future they wont make chosing to be a dark guardian an option, as the majority would chose it and oppose the vanguard. I think the story will have us all have a taste of being a dark guardian but ultimately we will be a weilder of both dark & light.
@@rockysrevenge4873 I am aware of leak from AnonTheNine during Forsaken.. I am curious of how they would introduce the aspect of switching sides lore wise. It cant be that D3 starts off with a prompt to choose light or dark and be locked with that decision.
I feel like if we do get a destiny 3 and we can play as a dark guardian we would lose our light and our ghost would die. Unless a guardian can discover a way to wield both light and dark.
That's the thing, we'll use both. The Darkness is trying to persuade and saying there is no destiny, we'll gonna give them hell. But we won't change sides...
I dont know though, there was some lore I came across somewhere, maybe from the recovered ghosts of the moon or elsewhere, but there are bad ghosts out there, them and their guardians
I saw on reddit that the consecrated mind was yardam and the sanctified mind was Rekkena. Lisbon was supposedly the minotaur that came out of the moon portal that started our divinity questline
Pretty sure they lost their light due to Ghaul caging the traveller. And remember Uldrens story.... how the garden twists the minds if those not guarded by the light... Maybe it planted seeds. Also the whole seeing the future through dreams stuff ties in neatly with the new lore about the speakers. The psions have a similar ability and they are currently messing with time in mercury. Wanna bet that next season we meet an old friend again. Remember, a side must always be chosen. Even if it's the wong one...
Don't think so. Zavala wouldn't have been surprised about how their ghosts were gone. And we know that the light being drained from guardians didn't actually kill the ghosts.
Perhaps for Dark Guardians instead of a Ghost they have a Shadow. It would be cool if said Shadow was like a dark aura kinda like that Dark Malfeasance aura.
My prediction is that people are gonna be given a choice between joining the light or dark side, and that’s gonna be the endgame for destiny three. In the Open World it’ll be a free for all zone between the light and dark. We’ll have specific stories for which faction. But that’s just my take on it.
I thought this all happened recently, just days or weeks before the Raid happens. And then I remembered that Cayde is already gone. This happened way before Forsaken.
I feel like this is the true origin of wish magic. Instead of granting you wishes but twisting it, darkness straight up TAKE the most valuable thing from you in exchange of what you desired the most.
Alright, Thoughts. The same way that we got the loyalty choice between Drifter and Vanguard and that affected the game and events down the road. What if, we are led up to a choice. and in Destiny 3 it is presented to us: To wield the light, or to wield the dark.
I... I just realized that Orbs of Light are shaped like the Traveler, while Gambit's Motes of Darkness are shaped like the Darkness Pyramids. Could be you'd just derive your power from those.
With this lore entry, it makes the cutscene where the darkness says it is our salvation, even creepier. Because in its own eyes, it's right. And this lore entry may enforce that stance.
I really hope we get an Alliance vs Horde style faction system with the Light and Darkness, either in D2s content cycle or as a new feature for D3. Idk how Bungie will do it, but I really hope I can give at least one of my Guardians over to the Darkness.
Isn't it weird that these vanguard leaders never got their hands dirty? The only time one of them tried to get some action got rekt in a prison break. What a bunch of scrubs.
Completely light guardians, Completely dark guardians, or Guardians with combined light and dark tempered powers, Ohhhhh I cant Wait for what bungie will do in the future
Sounds like to me the 3rd Guardian didn’t take the deal and the other two did. So he was trying to kill them before they escaped. But to the, they were “normal” still.
I knew they existed!!! The dark Guardians. Just as the traveler has us guardians, the darkness has it own soldiers. The enemies we've faced have only bathed in the darkness. Guardians are born from the light. Dark Guardians are born from the darkness. Wouldn't shock me if Eris became the Speaker for the Darkness. It's always been Eris and we never thought twice about it.
The effects of taking on the darkness and letting it take control show its effects in Dredgen Cull. It makes them attack beings of light fairly aggressively as Cull stabbed his ghost through the eye, instantly killing it. Their personality is seemingly affected by the darkness as lore around dark guardians seem to show they hold darkness in high regard, as if they are worshiping it.
maybe it was just vex that made an offer as they wanted to do things with time, which maybe the ability to traverse that could explain the stranger from the first game
According to some dodgy rumors I have heard, in Destiny 3 (if it's true that it's being made) Our guardian will wield the darkness. But the setting of the game from what I have been told is that the darkness won, the light failed to stop them. The city has fallen and the vanguard is scattered. As for how our Guardian will wield the darkness, I have a theory as to how that will happen. You all remember the sword logic? Essentially to the victor/strongest go the spoils. Mara intends to take Oryx's throne world if I recall, but by the right of sword logic, for all intents and purposes, it belongs to us, the guardian. I figure that the Guardian, filled with sorrow and rage will travel back to Oryx's dreadnought, follow the path he took through the kings fall raid to get back into Oryx's throne world and take the throne for himself, become the new taken king in order to exact revenge on the darkness. Far fetched theory maybe, but... What do you all think? Is this a possible way for OUR guardian to wield the darkness in the future?
I have this theory that without knowing we already wield the darkness, you know when we go to these darkness zones where light can’t reach us, yet we are able to still our powers as usual.
I'm really hoping that this eventually leads us to wield dark powers. Would be fairly interesting to see dark versions of the excisting subclasses that have a few twists in gameplay in them.
It would also be a very awesome story element as it would show both arguments of the light and dark are true but neither are false, we use both sides to atain a balanced world one neither gentle nor cruel.
Looking at the none stop hints lore wise and judging by the leak we got from Anononthenine, a very credible leaker it feels to me more like we'll only see *a* darkness based subclass per class that's meant to co-exist with our three light based subclasses, rather then a strict light vs dark.
U guys think that darkness would be like a class, subclass, bonus trees or maybe even like giving u the choice between darkness and light making u get 3 sub-classes with 3 trees each for each class(to make it equivalent to the light)? And do u guys think darkness and light guardians may live in peace to make the darkness and light live in harmony? (like it was meant to be from the gardener-stories from the garden of salvation thing with the game they are playing)
>Escape from Tarkov getting popular again Praise the Sun would have been laughing his ass off at everyone who used to tell him Tarkov wasn't shit in his streams... Damn I miss him.
Rumour has it, there's a powerful Storm Trance Warlock who is an evil emperor at the centre of all of this. He forever watches the guardians, looking for new recruits and keeps saying stuff like "something something dark side - something something complete".

Karthik Sankaran I’m hoping for some light guardians vs. dark guardians. I just hope they don’t make it an option for us to wield both. City of heroes/villains style
Karthik Sankaran D3 it’s been leaked
We'll become a grey guardian.
@@xXCursedWorgenXx man.....you beat me to saying that by literally 5 SECONDS
Exactly what I was thinking, especially with all the lore the drifter has given us.
I saw on reddit that the consecrated mind was yardam and the sanctified mind was Rekkena. Lisbon was supposedly the minotaur that came out of the moon portal that started our divinity questline
How does that play out?
4:50 that's kinda funny about accepting truth being hard, every time I play gambit I usually end up accepting a truth, right in the face.
Hard Truth
I actually want to hear about this more than ever I AM SO INTRIGUED
I've never hit a notification so fast!
Bruh gammatrap is an absolute chad
I thought this all happened recently, just days or weeks before the Raid happens.
And then I remembered that Cayde is already gone. This happened way before Forsaken.
Watch bungie do a “Revenge of the Sith” sorta move with this. The sith have returned. FUCK I mean the dark guardians.
I feel like this is the true origin of wish magic. Instead of granting you wishes but twisting it, darkness straight up TAKE the most valuable thing from you in exchange of what you desired the most.
Gammatrap out did himself with this piece ngl
In the new raid deep stone crypt there is a lore tap about lisbon 13 and what happened
Where can I find this tab?
@@godnaom9110 look up “legacy Oath Plate”
@@godnaom9110 it’s the titan chest piece from the raid
Alright, Thoughts. The same way that we got the loyalty choice between Drifter and Vanguard and that affected the game and events down the road. What if, we are led up to a choice. and in Destiny 3 it is presented to us: To wield the light, or to wield the dark.
love mid roll ads:
here, have a listen to what the best of transcendence reads- “here at wilsonville subaru...”
Of we ever do get a "Dark" subclass will the orbs we pick up be of dark origin as well?
I... I just realized that Orbs of Light are shaped like the Traveler, while Gambit's Motes of Darkness are shaped like the Darkness Pyramids. Could be you'd just derive your power from those.
I just love the music in the background.
With this lore entry, it makes the cutscene where the darkness says it is our salvation, even creepier. Because in its own eyes, it's right. And this lore entry may enforce that stance.
Man it would be so cool if we can choose between the light one or the dark one
I really hope we get an Alliance vs Horde style faction system with the Light and Darkness, either in D2s content cycle or as a new feature for D3. Idk how Bungie will do it, but I really hope I can give at least one of my Guardians over to the Darkness.
Thanks byf merry Christmas and a happy new year
Light = Guardians
Darkness = *Dork Guardians*
I KNEW they had to exist! For when the light grows brighter, so too does its shadow! It's not exactly a taken guardian but hey, using the darkness!
I want to know if the Drifter is filling us with darkness as come kind of resistance. Like both darkness and light.
@Adventist Yeah, but he said all he was doing was preparing for what's coming. Just Drifter didn't tell us, so the emissary did.
So will we be able to choose if we want to fight for the light or darknes?
I'm glad you're safe in Perth. But I wish I had known that you lived there when I went to visit. Australia is my favorite place on the planet.
I would kept my ghosts Hull as a Dogtag, those things are kinda cute.
Isn't it weird that these vanguard leaders never got their hands dirty? The only time one of them tried to get some action got rekt in a prison break. What a bunch of scrubs.
Weren’t there vex bodies or something at one point in the raid? Saw some people thinking that the group got turned into vex or something
Love your work mate, please keep it up! 👍
Completely light guardians, Completely dark guardians, or Guardians with combined light and dark tempered powers, Ohhhhh I cant Wait for what bungie will do in the future
Awesome stuff.
i'll bet you my left nut the main story of Destiny 3 is gonna revolve around Dark Guardians.
Sounds like to me the 3rd Guardian didn’t take the deal and the other two did. So he was trying to kill them before they escaped. But to the, they were “normal” still.
I've always wondered about dark Gardians
Me too. I've wondered how many times I'd have to shoulder charge them to end the threat 😂
Imagine fighting those guardians using the powers of the darkness against our powers of the light! Damn that would be so badass!
Playing gambit leads you to the darkness
Playing gambit leads you to the *truth
Playing Gambit will prepare you for whats coming, remember that the Drifter has some dark powers but he is not part of the Darkness.
[ Hector C N ] The drifter is evil. The Praxic Order knows what’s up.
I’m siding with the drifter
I knew they existed!!! The dark Guardians. Just as the traveler has us guardians, the darkness has it own soldiers.
The enemies we've faced have only bathed in the darkness.
Guardians are born from the light.
Dark Guardians are born from the darkness.
Wouldn't shock me if Eris became the Speaker for the Darkness. It's always been Eris and we never thought twice about it.
Wish we could choose a diffrent storyline for charecters like when we had to choose vandguard or drifter but dark or light and etc for future dlcs.
what sword are you using in the gameplay? i never knew there was a katana ingame
Quickfang. I believe it's Hunter-specific, pretty badass!
Does that mean there will be dark guardians and light guardians files 3 dark characters and 3 light characters files? If Soo.... That will be cool
Fascinating. Thank you for this video.
First it took their light away, only then it gave to them the power of the darkness.
IV ALWAYS SAID THAT THERE WILL BE DARK GUARDIANS! JHEEZUS
Is this a possible way for OUR guardian to wield the darkness in the future?
k1l3r10 this is a 100% not going to happen, but I can’t lie to you...that sounds epic as hell mate
I have this theory that without knowing we already wield the darkness, you know when we go to these darkness zones where light can’t reach us, yet we are able to still our powers as usual.
Rekkana: accepts powers from the Darkness
Also Rekkana: ... Are we the bad guys?
So, there's only one question left.
Where can I join?
8:49 "have a listen to the vest of transcendence, it reads: LIBERTY LIBERTY LIBERTY LIBERTEEEEE!"
Maybe in time or the next game, we could gain an additional class to play. Maybe a darkness sub class? Would be fun to see how it’s turn out
I'm really hoping that this eventually leads us to wield dark powers.
Dude this is so cool you can choose the light side or the dark side like Star Wars
>Escape from Tarkov getting popular again
Praise the Sun would have been laughing his ass off at everyone who used to tell him Tarkov wasn't shit in his streams... Damn I miss him.
Rumour has it, there's a powerful Storm Trance Warlock who is an evil emperor at the centre of all of this. He forever watches the guardians, looking for new recruits and keeps saying stuff like "something something dark side - something something complete".
Dude i like the logo with the controller brain.
Welcome back buddy!

Thanks for the video. If it wasn't for this I wouldn't know about it, since I haven't done the raid.
So pumped, I'm so fuckin happy this is a thing.
Holy shit that strike in the background was a fast one.
It definitely seems heavily implied that Lisben-13 still had his light at the time of the fight. Great video
