Thanks again for another great tutorial Alphonso. The thing that sets you apart from others who have drawing tutorials on here is that you go into so much more detail about the drawing process, and how to be flexible. I've found that I learn more from your tutorials than I've learned from all the combined art instruction I've ever had. I've gained a lot of confidence finding out that I don't need to draw a "photograph." Your tutorials cover just about every aspect I've struggled with at some point. I hope they keep coming! Best wishes and another huge thanks!

Your skills & experience, combined with very insightful instruction, is much more effective than any other online artist I've encountered. You are my primary "virtual" instructor and I take my home studying seriously, practicing many hours per day. I could not progress in the ways in which I am if it were not for your instruction. Thanks very much for sharing these valuable tutorials.

I love all the shading and how you layered that hatching and cross hatching and getting areas really dark while leaving other very lite and untouched.Usually, I am afraid of going dark too soon, thinking that I will loose all the detail but I see now hat I have it all wrong. Love watching your process! So cool how you made a really ordinary image interesting by just breaking it down into sections.

Thanks to this video of yours I have gone out with my camera and taken pictures of areas of interest in our town, they are currently being printed and I look forward to drawing from them in the way you demonstrated. I have also been using the cropping technique in drawing from pictures in magazines, otherwise one is a slave to the reference (I think you said that). Thanks for an excellent video :)
I fell in love with ink Inktober 2017. Never thought it would be something I'd like, but it's awesome. I just love how quickly you can achieve dark values with it (whereas with graphite it takes me many hours to achieve a satisfactory value level). Your videos have been invaluable in helping me grasp the medium.

  • @pesto12601

thx for the info... all these years later and your work still holds true. However - I must add that these techniques work much better if you have the ability to draw not only in perspective.. but in proportion... and being able to portray shadow and light correctly - all things I have a terrible time with. I might draw a building that looks ok.. but then the sign out front and the car is way too big or too small or not attached to the scene in the right way. This is where being an artist comes in I believe....

I would love to see a separate tutorial on how to do organic shapes like, trees, foliage, sky, water, rock...

Great video again. Your voice is so soothing. You would be great on the radio or doing podcasts. If you were to start a podcast I would be your first subscriber!
