Last month, quit when void closed down. Now there is another good pserver elrios rift, sorry but retail is ass unless you cheat your way onto KR... This game doesn't need a huge player base either, only time you need/want other players is for the end game raids, and even then. Ok and pvp too I guess, it's up and down depending on balance patch and time of day.
It's because the game became heavily p2w and they took away some character's creativity which made the skill ceiling much lower and less entertaining to watch. Now it's just tanking for mp/resources to 1 shot.
Elsword is now paytowin before they have diverse build like endurance build or full glass cannon or speed now it's just maximization build in every character and no balance.
I love the early game, the learning of new classes is so fun that I have like 20 different characters.But I can't seem to fit into the endgame as well... tho I'm glad that it's still alive until now.
Dud, you couldn't said it better, that's the same way i'm feeling. It's a very fun game for grinding and ith a good team of friends its even better. The thing is the endgame is very overwhelming.

I think best thing is to renew the 3d graphics and redo from scratch the client because actually it is really bad optimized. Just think about CLOSERS, is a lot more chaotic combat system but still does not lag, while elsword literally explodes.

Man, this game was my liveblood between 2014-2018, alongside Maplestory. The Combat is really fun and sadly nothing others games were able to really replicate properly. However right now the game is absolutely not worth playing. KOG Games are really money hungry sharks and had to monetize literally all of the important progression parts of this game. There also used to be a goated private server named voidEls, which vastly improved the overall progression of the game and really felt like a definitive edition. However it got sadly shut down some years ago. I would advise any new player to really avoid this game (same with Maplestory, but thats another story for itself). Elsword did however inspired me to sort of start developing a roguelite game, with similar combat and feel to it. Its just a hobby project tho, so idk if i ever want to bring it out.

VoidEls was the best Server ever!! Made so many friends and fun memories along the way. I think the current version of Void Els isn’t the official from back then.
I’ve been playing elsworld since 2011 all up to 2022. It was a wonderful experience. It sucks that it’s not getting the recognition it deserves anymore. I hope they could revive it but it was great memories anyway.

I loved playing Elsword for 8-10 years but nothing could make me go back. There were too many pay walls that lock you out of content later in the game. Then they occasionally mass nerf old characters to encourage you pick up their new OP character, to scrap your progress. And in the end game content which is raids you are literally just playing supports and watching people that spent thousands on the game carry you to defeat bosses that you have no hope of completing without a whale.
The answer is no, you have sweaty gatekeepers who will prevent you from joining endgame activities unless you have already well built dps or play as a support for a very specific team comp that they want.

It's so surprising to see which turn the game took. I absolutely love Eve and will always come back for the nostalgia once in a while. But I won't play a game where I have to grind for half a year and even longer and where not even +13 equipment and a season pass will be enough to join an endgame raid. I also hate how they made the game skill based instead of combo based! It was always fun to try out some new combos with your friends and build skills into your combo chains! Loved that experimental part about it. :)

Elsword will always have a special place in my heart, its the first time I took PvP (a little too) seriously, learning combos and stuff. Managed SS at that point playing Raven Sword Master (horribly underplayed at that point), still the highlight of my days playing Elsword, Was fantastic. I usually go back at least once a year, but turning 30 has slowed a lot of things down for me.
This is the perfect game for new players. For veterans there's just end game end. For new players they have SO MUCH characters to make and have fun with while veterans basically have almost the entire characters at 99
Id like you to mention or if atleast you been back then like u say, that they removed the low level dungeons and deleted most of the maps just to make it easier to speed level new character over actually having fun.
They rush you to the endgame cause that's where the grind and the money is. It use to take a long time just to get your 2nd job change and get to lv 40 but now, you're lv 42 by the time you finish altera.
@ToxicCatt-y7c well it was the same before they ramped up the leveling, you had your 2nd class in altera/peita buuut to finish your business with any of the scenarios you had to do them at least 3 times and/or do the open world hunting mobs, now you level up 2 times per scenario and gotta skip 20 min of dialogue for other 2 levels
Elsword always had something that no other game was able to have. Sadly it's managed by a company (KOG) that is absurdly greedy and cares only about korean players opinion (despite the game being published in all the world). It's so badly managed that if you play a normal amount of time and don't spend real money basically only 70% of the game is playable (the content from lv1 to lv99 and then Elrianode, Varnimyr and Rigomor). In the regions after that and in PvP, the game becomes so toxic and pay2win it's absurd. Very sad
when i stopped playing 3 years ago, the game was so not dead, that all the servers were full on weekly reset day, and during every raid, someone disconnected, which meant we needed to do it again. there were straight up too many players
too baad that the endgame gear progression in the latest years have been more painful than anything i ever experienced. Armor, where you need to grind over a month per piece with perfect efficiency, that you then need to upgrade with the same materials as you need for new armor, based on a second rng upgrade system, with durability, that needs to be bought for real money to keep upgrading. and to have the materials for a single piece of armor, the materials fill up so incredibly much of the inventory, that you dont have enough space, to farm other stuff at the same time.
They had a private server called Void Elsword but, it got shut down due to GF cracking down on them (allegedly). Maybe KOG should consider a classic server which removes a decade worth of updates and progress made on the game.
The game died 10 years ago when they choose money corruption and powerabuse over caring for the game. Defending famous scammers over actually listen to reports just cause they are friends with the scammers.

To answer the pinned question -I last played 4 months ago. I played when the newest character came out and got the 1st path class. I come back to Elsword every so often, but, the PVP scene always makes me leave. It's so frustrating at S+. The game is still very top heavy with players completing raids.

Most of the players are now on a private server called elrios rift(me included), if you want to give a chance to this game, i recomend you to play on this private server, you still have to play as the same as the normal game, but you have to spend less time and money to reach the end game, the normal servers consumes your soul to reach the end game, also this server have a lot of events, and exclusive adictions, but in the private server or the normal one, this game will consume you...

@@Cecil1213 on this server, you have 3x exp and 2x drop all the time, have a lot events, and the KC is cheap, you still have to play, but you dont need to sacrifice your soul to reach the end game, have multiple mains. when i say "money", is because you need paid items to reach the endgame, even if you dont pay, someone have paid and sold the item to you, so in this server, the KC is cheap, so paid items is cheaper.
As somebody who recently came back, here are some points to how elsword is now • Instead of tidious early game grinding u kinda progress through the story fast and they set you up to get into endgame • Now the game is still grindy but only at endgame, if you are f2p and jss keep playing you can have 1.5 CP that the game basically gives you for free • The community for this game is very much active (mostly mid-endgame) and yes the game is still giving updates to it • If you want to come back and have a easier time, pick a support/Debuffing class, easier to get picked up in raids thats essential for endgame All in all coming back to the game is worth it in my opinion, the community is very active and open, discord chats are filled with people that can help you and also have templates for certain characters and rotations for whatever class you choose to main

I loved this game a decade ago. I quit when they merged most servers and call it "international" a few months after Lanox was released. I tried playing it for a while when Elrianode was released but the lag was killing me. So I quit. I loved using my Apsara, Shakti, and Bloody Queen.
I have no clue when i last played elsword, i still remember playing the game when they only had the first 3 starter characters. It's grown a lot as a game, but i feel feel like its done as much as it possibly could at this point. Either remake the game or make a sequel.

7 years ago. I'm pretty much done. I attempted to come back with a friend who wanted to play 2 months ago. Elsword has an issue with certain programs set up on your computer. For example, I use VMware Workstation and services, and it needs to be on there. Turns on there's a whole article on Elswords website not explaining why the software and services cause Elsword to be incompatible with your PC, it just says if it's there, the game will block it and gives you a "No Response from Server". Elsword will NOT work so long as this is on your computer even if you stop the services. Idk what causes this interference but this kind of coding is just straight up out of 2010 which makes sense....Elsword came out in 2007. I find it sad.
I stopped playing because it keeps crashing like 2 mins in with no server response error, and also the fun guys don't play anymore. I've been trying to fix the error but everything online doesn't work. I even tried today.
Gonna be honest- Elsword has seen little to no activity in terms of true updates in years- at least, for the majority of players. Most new content requires an obscene amount of grinding or spending, and the community kinda...gave up on it for the most part. The activity described here is a ruse- a thin veil to deceive returning and new players into playing what is, in fact, more of a skeleton crew handling a game that's borderline sunsetting. I think the last active region (and barely active; it was still a struggle to find parties without repeat players) was Elrianode- they have since made 3 new regions with increasingly difficult grinding reqs that force lv.99 players to make another set, fully equip the set, and increase their "CP" (Combat power) to even enter the next region- this is to incentivise players to use the premium enhancement system to reach at minimum, +11 enhancement on their pieces to be viable for competitive play and PvE Raids for the current patch. It is difficult, if not borderline impossible, to feasibly catch up as a single F2P player in that time without a carry. While I'm aware that the addition of each subsequent region eases the requirements to enter the prevous one, I am also aware that's essentially a timegate for F2P and less grinding players. Even using discord, it is a struggle to find parties for lategame content unless you either joined one of the last active guilds, or had the money to flex to show you were worth supporting. It should also be noted ALL of the events listed are either: - Attendance events under another title that just say "Run 5 dungeons, etc." with no difference - An item mall spending event - A PVP Tourney. NONE of these events have unique dungeons, enemies, or anything of the matter- they're simply incentive to continue doing the same thing players do year-round for maybe like....some consumables, class changes, or stamps for sealing trading gear on the player market. They should not be mistaken for true MMO events like Elsword's early days, where F2P Costumes and accessories that were only avaliable during these events were avaliable. In fact, the old Halloween F2P sets have become PAID item mall costumes....what a way to go. If you want an active 2.5D-esqe fighting game mmo, I highly recommend Dungeon Fighter Online- it's produced in KR by the same company (Nexon) but the International branch is owned by the devs (Neople) and they've done a fine job of balancing it so F2P players have a decently balanced go at the game alongside the whales.
They need to get rid of that combat rating system. It’s atrocious. They practically locked away a good chunk of the game with that update. And I hate the way they neutered secret dungeons.
I know what u getting at, that system is annoying. I like the new secret dungeon system, but they should at least tone down combat rate to enter thanks to that crap it took me 4 months. Last week I finally get into Berthe's raid.
The game has a great gameplay but stop feeling fun after a time cause it becomes super repetitive, there points it needs to get fixed and why the game I liked so much before it changed to not feel itself fun Previous dungeons are abandoned since everyone are only playing mid and endgame dungeons, making more of the game content useless or boring to do ( no difficulty, everything will get one shot and speedrunned) Updates are mostly based on the item mall and fashion, there not so much entertaining content with difficulty to enjoy People focusing so much in Speedrun instead of enjoy the dungeons, kinda fair cause they farming something that requires lot of runs but that makes the people say " I want to finish already this pain and retire " making me wonder why they playing the game, it's not a job to do X thing as an obligation Progression of gears, more gears are coming which makes more months of tedious farming in specific dungeons to farm mats and Ed to buy depending of the kching rate cause things like seeds and gear mats u specifically need are in board, they super rare to drop so progression and economy of all the players will depend of the whales loading kching and selling stuff in board ( if no one loads, no one will be able to reforge their gears to a decent level ) And kog not deciding in a final gear, thing that making the old ones super expensive to do temporal and for a couple of dungeons, they need to decide a final gear and bring more dungeons to enjoy with it and place a finish line for the damage, at least to have the dungeons with enough difficulty to be replayable and fun to do

As someone who is still playing this game until this day, the problem is with it is how grindy and annoying is to reach the same content as everyone after a certain cap (aka. 500k cp, and not even that is enough to find ppl playing, since almost everyone is above 1 to 2M cp). Nowadays i'm on the pvt server but used to play a lot on EU server (the gameforge server) since the one my account is is considered the worst server to be playing (due to how expensive the ice burner visuals are, imagine paying 500M for a pants or torso? lol). Maybe the reason for these much of events is because the lack of success in their other games (do you guys still remember Kurtzpel?) and somehow only Grand Chase and Elsword kept giving them money and success (especially grand chase dimensional chasers, their second attempt to make a mobile game based of one of their best IPs, which they are even giving away free paid skins and from what i heard, there will be a new mobile game with 3D aspects). Since KOG is a AA studio, i highly doubt that they will kill Elsword soon because the majority of the players uses the launcher instead of Steam because you can't transfer your progress from the Launcher to your Steam account (that's why people barely logs in via Steam, only those who wants practicality or are new to the game and doesn't want to install the launcher)
THIS GAME IS SOOO UNDENIABLY FUN once you get to the endgame and having high cp, but the grind to reach that point makes like 80% of the playerbase quit. Not to mention the endgame is full of judgemental people who are bound to their own squad to run engame contents and you’ll have a hard time progressing as solo player who doesnt have any circles at all, at least if you join a proper guild they can help you to clear raids and progress more easily, especially if you’re playing a support class or bring support equipment. Nonetheless still very fun knowing how tedious it is 😊
Once Elsword is gone i'm quitting mmos forever. I love this game I will never play another gacha and am going to stop spending money today because of the warning signs. I will never support a private server.

Glad to see it's still around, I mean I always had faith. Especially considering it's like the only game of it's kind to get not only an anime (only other one I can think of would be BnS) However in Korea they've even have their own cafe and a ton in person events. This was a big part of my teenage years so I'm happy to see it's still around even if it's become a bit of a ptw cash grab those memories were worth it.
Look. I'll say it before, and ill say it again: Don't dive into Elsword and stay in it. I'm saying this as someone that played from 2011 on and off, and spent a bit of money on it. At best, ill tell you if you really wanna play it, Level a character or a few that catch your interest and leave once you hit end game. Its a Korean MMO, I get that its gonna be grindy, but around 70% of the events will cater for you to drop money for x items that will either be within a gacha system, or a pity system (basically like a gacha game). All of the endgame gear (even cosmetics) is heavily RNG and will either require insane luck, or for you to flush out your credit card. PvP has gone to the trashcan. And good luck trying to enhance just off of the weekly materials itself that gave you about 5 clicks or so with RNG success/fail/break rates. Certain things you can grind for, but will just be outvalued by the cash shop in the long run (chlorite seeds, looking at you). I can go on and on about it, but I'm just gonna point out a comment I read back a while ago about the game: "The community is mostly vets who invested way too much time/money to leave it."
You forgot to mention how the vet players and it's Korean audience were complaining for more challenging main play because the game difficulty wasn't rough enough to their standards. KOG Games listening to them and releasing Elysion as it was pretty much killed the game. All of a sudden some enemies HURT, and some had no stagger at all. Elsword nuked many gear sets included SD and Dimension, both became physically obsolete due to the new scaling that came through which is interesting because I remember beating Glave's content was one of the biggest flexes out there in Elsword. The scaling became pretty much p2w and KOG didn't care as long as the long time players bought into their schemes. That's why private servers like Void spawned in the first place, but they received cease and assists from Elswords staff and players lost months to years of progress. This is because players weren't paying KOG Games anymore and they took issue with it which I can understand from a business perspective, but the way they handled the situation was criminal.
I last played it back in the early 2010s Its teh first MMO I got really into and played for years all because of one thing THE GAMEPLAY. This games PVP is incredible the story was surprisingly interesting the match making was superb I rarely had to solo unless it was for a Title I was trying to Unlock but I will definitely be getting back into this charming amazing game.. I haven’t played it simply due to not having the necessary hardware

I would think i'm surprised to see it still going!
Elsword is a game I knew had potential. I thought they'd realize it with KurtzPel but I guess they had a drinking binge and forgot what the point of the game was. The game is good, I like it. The gameplay is satisfying, and coming from years of updates, it's gotten very easy to get into the game, being much more streamlined until max level. The grind is...unbearable in my opinion. I just make new characters, get them to max level, and pass down gear to my other characters so I don't have to grind to death. (Have to buy the shared storage btw) It's more fun to me to show new players the ropes so I don't really grind end game. I just benefit off of their overly generous events. Gameplay between characters and job paths makes it feel like no character plays the same. And that's what I love about the game. Such different play styles and very fun visuals. Lots of pros but bogged down by regular f2p systems designed to directly or indirectly inconvenience the player. If you ignore all of it and just play, you won't hit any gameplay interruptions until max level. I recommend giving this game a shot.
@@koya__kim Theres only one "reliable" private server rn, being elsrift, and it has events every 3 to 4 weeks, and its events are far more generous than the ones in the official servers. Also theres plenty of QoL, bad thing is that most people play in private groups, making it harder to progress without a friend.

I hated elsword at first. Because I saw it as the reason why they shut down Grand Chase which at the time was basically my life. In my years ever since, I don't think I have more hours with all games combined than what I had in Grand Chase. But like 4 years after they shut down grand chase and me jumping from game to game - I gave Elsword a chance and I've been playing it on and off.
Heavy pay to win game. Crap events. 0 consideration about player suggestions, and balance patches with almost 0% logic behind. Ofc, I'm talking about official version, which right now it's almost empty, because opened a pserver with a nice development & logic behind, by adding finally features which allow players to advance, even if f2p. I forgot, the main developer of this game, copied what the pserver DEV team did recently. That's a mystery, suddenly the main development team woke up to introduce even, after years and years, some ''f2p'' changes to official version. That's a pure coincidence, by seeing a HUGE % of decreasing players. :)
The events they have are reruns of the same concepts from years ago, its to try and cash grab people The game has been dying for years (since Sander update) slowly. The events are often poorly coded or just asset dumps with low drop rates and a p2w incentive

When I played this game Raven didn't even exist in KR yet and 2nd jobs were still being explored (level cap was like 30 or 40 i think)… back when Rebelliel was still making youtube videos on his channel Literally played this game for my entire life (from middle school) and now that im an adult well into my career I can say that I watched it turn to ashes. If you knew the glory days, and how those days lasted for a strong 4 years afterwards, you'd realize how dead this game really is Sander marked its initial downfall but everything after the Perkisas raid was what truly buried the game
When I first played this game it was very active, now it is definitely dead. There was a point where things started to spiral out of control with the cash shop, granted the cash shop aspect was ALWAYS present and you had whales almost exclusively in the top 100 leaderboard for PvP (not everyone, I myself was top 10 for Ara one season and didn't buy anything from the shop). Once they raised the level cap I feel like the content they started releasing for raids and the gear rework significantly contributed to the fact that if you didn't spend a significant amount of money on the cash shop, you were going to find yourself at a serious disadvantage. tl;dr - game is dead and the content they started releasing almost meant you would have to use the cash shop to be competitive or even progress seriously.

Bro.... from level 1 to 99 is the game tutorial, after 99 the game really starts (and "jump" events hapens quite a lot in elsword where the game literaly gives everything you need to play all the New and hard dungeons released until now.....).... i'm not finished, people usualy complains about the pvp now, but the PVP IS ACTUALY BALANCED NOW, LIKE PEOPLE JUST COMPLAIN BECAUSE THEY ARE BAD AT THE GAME.....

I love the early game, the learning of new classes is so fun that I have like 20 different characters.But I can't seem to fit into the endgame as well... tho I'm glad that it's still alive until now.

I think best thing is to renew the 3d graphics and redo from scratch the client because actually it is really bad optimized. Just think about CLOSERS, is a lot more chaotic combat system but still does not lag, while elsword literally explodes.

Man, this game was my liveblood between 2014-2018, alongside Maplestory. The Combat is really fun and sadly nothing others games were able to really replicate properly. However right now the game is absolutely not worth playing. KOG Games are really money hungry sharks and had to monetize literally all of the important progression parts of this game. There also used to be a goated private server named voidEls, which vastly improved the overall progression of the game and really felt like a definitive edition. However it got sadly shut down some years ago.
I would advise any new player to really avoid this game (same with Maplestory, but thats another story for itself). Elsword did however inspired me to sort of start developing a roguelite game, with similar combat and feel to it. Its just a hobby project tho, so idk if i ever want to bring it out.
Voidels is back btw just letting you know. it cameback 2023 after its shutdown iirc was it 2019. so come hang out and say hi if you ever feel like nostalgic again. its been improved a lot compared to its 2019 self

Elsword in 2024... is EXACTLY what you would expect.
I’ve been playing elsworld since 2011 all up to 2022. It was a wonderful experience. It sucks that it’s not getting the recognition it deserves anymore. I hope they could revive it but it was great memories anyway.

I loved playing Elsword for 8-10 years but nothing could make me go back. There were too many pay walls that lock you out of content later in the game. Then they occasionally mass nerf old characters to encourage you pick up their new OP character, to scrap your progress.
And in the end game content which is raids you are literally just playing supports and watching people that spent thousands on the game carry you to defeat bosses that you have no hope of completing without a whale.
The answer is no, you have sweaty gatekeepers who will prevent you from joining endgame activities unless you have already well built dps or play as a support for a very specific team comp that they want.
That's far enough. If you want to do endgame content, you must know how to play and have a very good set. Or you wanna be carried?

It WAS fun until its was littered with bloat, grind, damage sponges, spam skill strat, old mmorpg designs, still bad monetization, etc.
It's so surprising to see which turn the game took. I absolutely love Eve and will always come back for the nostalgia once in a while. But I won't play a game where I have to grind for half a year and even longer and where not even +13 equipment and a season pass will be enough to join an endgame raid. I also hate how they made the game skill based instead of combo based! It was always fun to try out some new combos with your friends and build skills into your combo chains! Loved that experimental part about it. :)

Elsword will always have a special place in my heart, its the first time I took PvP (a little too) seriously, learning combos and stuff. Managed SS at that point playing Raven Sword Master (horribly underplayed at that point), still the highlight of my days playing Elsword, Was fantastic. I usually go back at least once a year, but turning 30 has slowed a lot of things down for me.
This is the perfect game for new players. For veterans there's just end game end. For new players they have SO MUCH characters to make and have fun with while veterans basically have almost the entire characters at 99

Last time I played Elsword was in the early 2010s, I’m still surprised the game is still around i remember having fun with it.
Id like you to mention or if atleast you been back then like u say, that they removed the low level dungeons and deleted most of the maps just to make it easier to speed level new character over actually having fun.
They rush you to the endgame cause that's where the grind and the money is.
It use to take a long time just to get your 2nd job change and get to lv 40 but now, you're lv 42 by the time you finish altera.
@ToxicCatt-y7c well it was the same before they ramped up the leveling, you had your 2nd class in altera/peita buuut to finish your business with any of the scenarios you had to do them at least 3 times and/or do the open world hunting mobs, now you level up 2 times per scenario and gotta skip 20 min of dialogue for other 2 levels
Elsword always had something that no other game was able to have.
Sadly it's managed by a company (KOG) that is absurdly greedy and cares only about korean players opinion (despite the game being published in all the world).
It's so badly managed that if you play a normal amount of time and don't spend real money basically only 70% of the game is playable (the content from lv1 to lv99 and then Elrianode, Varnimyr and Rigomor). In the regions after that and in PvP, the game becomes so toxic and pay2win it's absurd. Very sad
the last time I played is with my roommate in the first year of uni.... I'm 26 now...jeez.
when i stopped playing 3 years ago, the game was so not dead, that all the servers were full on weekly reset day, and during every raid, someone disconnected, which meant we needed to do it again. there were straight up too many players

too baad that the endgame gear progression in the latest years have been more painful than anything i ever experienced. Armor, where you need to grind over a month per piece with perfect efficiency, that you then need to upgrade with the same materials as you need for new armor, based on a second rng upgrade system, with durability, that needs to be bought for real money to keep upgrading. and to have the materials for a single piece of armor, the materials fill up so incredibly much of the inventory, that you dont have enough space, to farm other stuff at the same time.
Private servers is the only way to even bear with this game.
They had a private server called Void Elsword but, it got shut down due to GF cracking down on them (allegedly). Maybe KOG should consider a classic server which removes a decade worth of updates and progress made on the game.
The game died 10 years ago when they choose money corruption and powerabuse over caring for the game. Defending famous scammers over actually listen to reports just cause they are friends with the scammers.
feel free to try it out but don't bother with end game unless you willing to whale since end game is p2w now...current endgame dungeons are like 9-10m cp required entry which is only possible for whales to reach...

To answer the pinned question -I last played 4 months ago. I played when the newest character came out and got the 1st path class. I come back to Elsword every so often, but, the PVP scene always makes me leave. It's so frustrating at S+.
The game is still very top heavy with players completing raids.
You know, I might actually play it again. I was quite irresponsible with my money when I was 14 not really knowing that the game was p2w but I’m more responsible now with 22, at least money wise lol
Most of the players are now on a private server called elrios rift(me included), if you want to give a chance to this game, i recomend you to play on this private server, you still have to play as the same as the normal game, but you have to spend less time and money to reach the end game, the normal servers consumes your soul to reach the end game, also this server have a lot of events, and exclusive adictions, but in the private server or the normal one, this game will consume you...

@@Cecil1213 on this server, you have 3x exp and 2x drop all the time, have a lot events, and the KC is cheap, you still have to play, but you dont need to sacrifice your soul to reach the end game, have multiple mains. when i say "money", is because you need paid items to reach the endgame, even if you dont pay, someone have paid and sold the item to you, so in this server, the KC is cheap, so paid items is cheaper.
As somebody who recently came back, here are some points to how elsword is now
• Instead of tidious early game grinding u kinda progress through the story fast and they set you up to get into endgame
• Now the game is still grindy but only at endgame, if you are f2p and jss keep playing you can have 1.5 CP that the game basically gives you for free
• The community for this game is very much active (mostly mid-endgame) and yes the game is still giving updates to it
• If you want to come back and have a easier time, pick a support/Debuffing class, easier to get picked up in raids thats essential for endgame
All in all coming back to the game is worth it in my opinion, the community is very active and open, discord chats are filled with people that can help you and also have templates for certain characters and rotations for whatever class you choose to main

I loved this game a decade ago. I quit when they merged most servers and call it "international" a few months after Lanox was released. I tried playing it for a while when Elrianode was released but the lag was killing me. So I quit.
I loved using my Apsara, Shakti, and Bloody Queen.
I have no clue when i last played elsword, i still remember playing the game when they only had the first 3 starter characters. It's grown a lot as a game, but i feel feel like its done as much as it possibly could at this point. Either remake the game or make a sequel.
I loved this game for the longest time, it has a special place for me. It was my childhood to adulthood game.
I'm honestly surprised how the game hasn't died yet. It's been dying for almost a decade and a half, it's still dying today.
Last time I played? Probably 8-9 years ago. I remember buying a whole new keyboard just to smash perfectly the raven combo.
Honestly, i thank. I just downloaded the game again this month, and really wanted to try and check to see if it was worthwhile to keep it on my pc. Glad to see the game is still going, have great memories hanging with friends, teaching me how to pvp, steadily grinding for S rank (I'm clearly not the best, lol)
7 years ago. I'm pretty much done. I attempted to come back with a friend who wanted to play 2 months ago. Elsword has an issue with certain programs set up on your computer.
For example, I use VMware Workstation and services, and it needs to be on there. Turns on there's a whole article on Elswords website not explaining why the software and services cause Elsword to be incompatible with your PC, it just says if it's there, the game will block it and gives you a "No Response from Server".
Elsword will NOT work so long as this is on your computer even if you stop the services. Idk what causes this interference but this kind of coding is just straight up out of 2010 which makes sense....Elsword came out in 2007. I find it sad.
I stopped playing because it keeps crashing like 2 mins in with no server response error, and also the fun guys don't play anymore. I've been trying to fix the error but everything online doesn't work. I even tried today.
Gonna be honest- Elsword has seen little to no activity in terms of true updates in years- at least, for the majority of players. Most new content requires an obscene amount of grinding or spending, and the community kinda...gave up on it for the most part. The activity described here is a ruse- a thin veil to deceive returning and new players into playing what is, in fact, more of a skeleton crew handling a game that's borderline sunsetting.
I think the last active region (and barely active; it was still a struggle to find parties without repeat players) was Elrianode- they have since made 3 new regions with increasingly difficult grinding reqs that force lv.99 players to make another set, fully equip the set, and increase their "CP" (Combat power) to even enter the next region- this is to incentivise players to use the premium enhancement system to reach at minimum, +11 enhancement on their pieces to be viable for competitive play and PvE Raids for the current patch. It is difficult, if not borderline impossible, to feasibly catch up as a single F2P player in that time without a carry.
While I'm aware that the addition of each subsequent region eases the requirements to enter the prevous one, I am also aware that's essentially a timegate for F2P and less grinding players. Even using discord, it is a struggle to find parties for lategame content unless you either joined one of the last active guilds, or had the money to flex to show you were worth supporting.
It should also be noted ALL of the events listed are either:
- Attendance events under another title that just say "Run 5 dungeons, etc." with no difference
- An item mall spending event
- A PVP Tourney.
NONE of these events have unique dungeons, enemies, or anything of the matter- they're simply incentive to continue doing the same thing players do year-round for maybe like....some consumables, class changes, or stamps for sealing trading gear on the player market.
They should not be mistaken for true MMO events like Elsword's early days, where F2P Costumes and accessories that were only avaliable during these events were avaliable. In fact, the old Halloween F2P sets have become PAID item mall costumes....what a way to go.
If you want an active 2.5D-esqe fighting game mmo, I highly recommend Dungeon Fighter Online- it's produced in KR by the same company (Nexon) but the International branch is owned by the devs (Neople) and they've done a fine job of balancing it so F2P players have a decently balanced go at the game alongside the whales.
They need to get rid of that combat rating system. It’s atrocious. They practically locked away a good chunk of the game with that update.
And I hate the way they neutered secret dungeons.
I know what u getting at, that system is annoying. I like the new secret dungeon system, but they should at least tone down combat rate to enter thanks to that crap it took me 4 months. Last week I finally get into Berthe's raid.
For a game this age and (lack of) graphic fidelity having only a few hundred players less than wayfinder is not bad at all
The game has a great gameplay but stop feeling fun after a time cause it becomes super repetitive, there points it needs to get fixed and why the game I liked so much before it changed to not feel itself fun
Previous dungeons are abandoned since everyone are only playing mid and endgame dungeons, making more of the game content useless or boring to do ( no difficulty, everything will get one shot and speedrunned)
Updates are mostly based on the item mall and fashion, there not so much entertaining content with difficulty to enjoy
People focusing so much in Speedrun instead of enjoy the dungeons, kinda fair cause they farming something that requires lot of runs but that makes the people say " I want to finish already this pain and retire " making me wonder why they playing the game, it's not a job to do X thing as an obligation
Progression of gears, more gears are coming which makes more months of tedious farming in specific dungeons to farm mats and Ed to buy depending of the kching rate cause things like seeds and gear mats u specifically need are in board, they super rare to drop so progression and economy of all the players will depend of the whales loading kching and selling stuff in board ( if no one loads, no one will be able to reforge their gears to a decent level )
And kog not deciding in a final gear, thing that making the old ones super expensive to do temporal and for a couple of dungeons, they need to decide a final gear and bring more dungeons to enjoy with it and place a finish line for the damage, at least to have the dungeons with enough difficulty to be replayable and fun to do

As someone who is still playing this game until this day, the problem is with it is how grindy and annoying is to reach the same content as everyone after a certain cap (aka. 500k cp, and not even that is enough to find ppl playing, since almost everyone is above 1 to 2M cp). Nowadays i'm on the pvt server but used to play a lot on EU server (the gameforge server) since the one my account is is considered the worst server to be playing (due to how expensive the ice burner visuals are, imagine paying 500M for a pants or torso? lol). Maybe the reason for these much of events is because the lack of success in their other games (do you guys still remember Kurtzpel?) and somehow only Grand Chase and Elsword kept giving them money and success (especially grand chase dimensional chasers, their second attempt to make a mobile game based of one of their best IPs, which they are even giving away free paid skins and from what i heard, there will be a new mobile game with 3D aspects). Since KOG is a AA studio, i highly doubt that they will kill Elsword soon because the majority of the players uses the launcher instead of Steam because you can't transfer your progress from the Launcher to your Steam account (that's why people barely logs in via Steam, only those who wants practicality or are new to the game and doesn't want to install the launcher)
THIS GAME IS SOOO UNDENIABLY FUN once you get to the endgame and having high cp, but the grind to reach that point makes like 80% of the playerbase quit. Not to mention the endgame is full of judgemental people who are bound to their own squad to run engame contents and you’ll have a hard time progressing as solo player who doesnt have any circles at all, at least if you join a proper guild they can help you to clear raids and progress more easily, especially if you’re playing a support class or bring support equipment. Nonetheless still very fun knowing how tedious it is 😊
Once Elsword is gone i'm quitting mmos forever. I love this game I will never play another gacha and am going to stop spending money today because of the warning signs. I will never support a private server.

Especially considering it's like the only game of it's kind to get not only an anime (only other one I can think of would be BnS) However in Korea they've even have their own cafe and a ton in person events. This was a big part of my teenage years so I'm happy to see it's still around even if it's become a bit of a ptw cash grab those memories were worth it.

Look. I'll say it before, and ill say it again: Don't dive into Elsword and stay in it. I'm saying this as someone that played from 2011 on and off, and spent a bit of money on it.
At best, ill tell you if you really wanna play it, Level a character or a few that catch your interest and leave once you hit end game. Its a Korean MMO, I get that its gonna be grindy, but around 70% of the events will cater for you to drop money for x items that will either be within a gacha system, or a pity system (basically like a gacha game). All of the endgame gear (even cosmetics) is heavily RNG and will either require insane luck, or for you to flush out your credit card. PvP has gone to the trashcan. And good luck trying to enhance just off of the weekly materials itself that gave you about 5 clicks or so with RNG success/fail/break rates. Certain things you can grind for, but will just be outvalued by the cash shop in the long run (chlorite seeds, looking at you). I can go on and on about it, but I'm just gonna point out a comment I read back a while ago about the game: "The community is mostly vets who invested way too much time/money to leave it."
You forgot to mention how the vet players and it's Korean audience were complaining for more challenging main play because the game difficulty wasn't rough enough to their standards. KOG Games listening to them and releasing Elysion as it was pretty much killed the game. All of a sudden some enemies HURT, and some had no stagger at all. Elsword nuked many gear sets included SD and Dimension, both became physically obsolete due to the new scaling that came through which is interesting because I remember beating Glave's content was one of the biggest flexes out there in Elsword. The scaling became pretty much p2w and KOG didn't care as long as the long time players bought into their schemes.
That's why private servers like Void spawned in the first place, but they received cease and assists from Elswords staff and players lost months to years of progress. This is because players weren't paying KOG Games anymore and they took issue with it which I can understand from a business perspective, but the way they handled the situation was criminal.
It's absolutely what I expect 😆
I last played it back in the early 2010s Its teh first MMO I got really into and played for years all because of one thing THE GAMEPLAY. This games PVP is incredible the story was surprisingly interesting the match making was superb I rarely had to solo unless it was for a Title I was trying to Unlock but I will definitely be getting back into this charming amazing game.. I haven’t played it simply due to not having the necessary hardware

Elsword is a game I knew had potential. I thought they'd realize it with KurtzPel but I guess they had a drinking binge and forgot what the point of the game was.
The game is good, I like it. The gameplay is satisfying, and coming from years of updates, it's gotten very easy to get into the game, being much more streamlined until max level. The grind is...unbearable in my opinion. I just make new characters, get them to max level, and pass down gear to my other characters so I don't have to grind to death. (Have to buy the shared storage btw)
It's more fun to me to show new players the ropes so I don't really grind end game. I just benefit off of their overly generous events.
Gameplay between characters and job paths makes it feel like no character plays the same. And that's what I love about the game. Such different play styles and very fun visuals.
Lots of pros but bogged down by regular f2p systems designed to directly or indirectly inconvenience the player. If you ignore all of it and just play, you won't hit any gameplay interruptions until max level.
I recommend giving this game a shot.

@@koya__kim Theres only one "reliable" private server rn, being elsrift, and it has events every 3 to 4 weeks, and its events are far more generous than the ones in the official servers. Also theres plenty of QoL, bad thing is that most people play in private groups, making it harder to progress without a friend.

But god the love/hate relationship I have with it will forever haunt me.
I hated elsword at first. Because I saw it as the reason why they shut down Grand Chase which at the time was basically my life. In my years ever since, I don't think I have more hours with all games combined than what I had in Grand Chase. But like 4 years after they shut down grand chase and me jumping from game to game - I gave Elsword a chance and I've been playing it on and off.

Heavy pay to win game. Crap events. 0 consideration about player suggestions, and balance patches with almost 0% logic behind. Ofc, I'm talking about official version, which right now it's almost empty, because opened a pserver with a nice development & logic behind, by adding finally features which allow players to advance, even if f2p. I forgot, the main developer of this game, copied what the pserver DEV team did recently. That's a mystery, suddenly the main development team woke up to introduce even, after years and years, some ''f2p'' changes to official version. That's a pure coincidence, by seeing a HUGE % of decreasing players. :)

The game has been dying for years (since Sander update) slowly. The events are often poorly coded or just asset dumps with low drop rates and a p2w incentive

When I played this game Raven didn't even exist in KR yet and 2nd jobs were still being explored (level cap was like 30 or 40 i think)… back when Rebelliel was still making youtube videos on his channel
Literally played this game for my entire life (from middle school) and now that im an adult well into my career I can say that I watched it turn to ashes. If you knew the glory days, and how those days lasted for a strong 4 years afterwards, you'd realize how dead this game really is
Sander marked its initial downfall but everything after the Perkisas raid was what truly buried the game

play on a private server like elsrift to avoid a lot of the mid-endgame grind. it's so extremely bloated
When I first played this game it was very active, now it is definitely dead. There was a point where things started to spiral out of control with the cash shop, granted the cash shop aspect was ALWAYS present and you had whales almost exclusively in the top 100 leaderboard for PvP (not everyone, I myself was top 10 for Ara one season and didn't buy anything from the shop). Once they raised the level cap I feel like the content they started releasing for raids and the gear rework significantly contributed to the fact that if you didn't spend a significant amount of money on the cash shop, you were going to find yourself at a serious disadvantage.
tl;dr - game is dead and the content they started releasing almost meant you would have to use the cash shop to be competitive or even progress seriously.

Tbh elsword starts after 99, but the game is just too grindy to the point to where its impossible

Bro.... from level 1 to 99 is the game tutorial, after 99 the game really starts (and "jump" events hapens quite a lot in elsword where the game literaly gives everything you need to play all the New and hard dungeons released until now.....).... i'm not finished, people usualy complains about the pvp now, but the PVP IS ACTUALY BALANCED NOW, LIKE PEOPLE JUST COMPLAIN BECAUSE THEY ARE BAD AT THE GAME.....
