  • In this week's video I talk about how to help someone speak who has aphasia. I give you four cues to use. When people have aphasia, giving them a clue or verbal assist can help them to express their wants and needs without you speaking for them.
    1) Say the first letter or sound of the word.
    2) Describe the word.
    3) Sentence completion.
    4) Use gestures.
I also talk about how music can aid communication.

My girlfriends been dealing with Apsara for a while. I’ve been studying it a little bit. And l do - do’s all the do’s. She responds better if I make eye contact. But I have to wear a mask in The assisted living home she’s in. But sometimes I’ll pull it down so if you can understand me. I’ve seen her when she was just a regular normal person to this. But I love her dearly. I’m always sad when I have to leave her. But I Won’t abandon her or leave her alone. But I can only visit twice a week. Because I live far. Anyway thanks

She passed away in April of this year. I haven't gotten a new cat, but when I do, maybe she will also want to be apart of the videos. :)

Oh, I see now that this is an old video. Well, she wasn't in every video, but she certainly liked to be in most. :)

Ok cool. Anyway, have you ever had any patients with a form of conduction aphasia or transcortical sensory aphasia? Global Aphasia?
