The all-new Honda XL750 Transalp is here! Check out my honest review of this Honda to see what it’s like to ride and how I assess its features after having ridden all of its current competitors, so Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, Triumph Tiger 900, Ducati Multistrada V2, BMW F850GS, KTM 890 Adventure and even a Moto Guzzi V85TT.
All views are my own and are based on my personal experiences with this all-new Honda Transalp from 2023. Stay tuned and subscribe for next mid-size adventure bikes that are more offroad-oriented and direct comparisons between the bikes on the channel!
Honda Africa Twin 1100 DCT Adventure Sports ES Honest Review: • Honda Africa Twin 1100...
Transalp all the way.
Mates have ridden this beast across Australia. Not a problem. Says a real lot about the bike.
BUILTPROOF
Winner , chicken dinner.!!!
This bike is an adventure bike but this whole review is banging thru city traffic.
Next to offroading, it's the most demanding environment so immediately shows weaknesses and strenghts. There are hardly and good curvy roads in this country by the way.
I'd say it's more road biased than off road.
I have 400 miles on mine, this thing is a Swiss Army Knife, I love it
Think Honda nailed this bike. It’s going to be sold all over the world from Canada to Australia with every type of terrain and climate that goes with it. Yes there are compromises but for the vast majority of owners, at this price point, it will be great.
Spot on. Most of us think we want to ride like Chris Birch or Adam Reimann but we don't and we won't. Honda has built a bulletproof adventure bike for the majority of us and it can be tricked out a little more if you want. The 5% that want to get sideways will always ride the KTM's etc. and good on them. For the rest of us there's the Transalp. 😊
wish we could get the white and gold color in the states!
Yes, a very good value bike but I'd rather have the 800DE as it doesn't blur the speedo every time you take it out for a ride.
Yeah, it seems I am the only one who doesn't get it.
I’ve read that the 800 V-Strom has pretty serious heat-issues, for the rider? I don’t even know if that’s true- but my DL-650 has none of that. How about the TransAlp? Are the parallel twins prone to that? Sure don’t need that, on hot summer days!
@@danielhoskins976 I wouldn't call it 'serious' heat issues, people have mentioned it but don't recall a complaint about it. Only seems to be the right hand side.
The Transalp is a slightly higher revving machine which doesn't quite have the low down grunt the 800DE has, both very capable machines.
Motor overheats easy. Not as good an engine as the Honda.
@VToldsMotoShow I'm 6'2 (1,88cm) will I fit on v strom 800 re or should I go for transalp. Only downside is tubes.nice video
I had a 2024 Transalp and had the same positve reaction you did. Instantly comfortable, huge grin factor, just makes you look for curvy roads so you can lean over further, encourages you to go faster than you should and better windshield than most adventure bikes I tried. Sold it because I wanted even more protection on long highway trips but miss the bike and might buy another. Will buy the NT1100 this spring and see how that goes first. Hopefully Honda put some of the same magic in that bike as they did the xl750. You know, much better than the stats and some critics say it should be. By the way thanks for pointing out the forward placement of the footpegs. Yes they do seem to be where you want to put your feet at a stop but I always think footpegs are too far back and frequently install pivoting footpegs to lower/ move forward the placement. No need on this bike and nobody has picked up on that. A big plus in my book. Also the handlebars are for once in the proper spot. I almost always add bar risers/backs, did it on this bike and found it was better without risers. An amazingly comfortable bike in all respects.
I have ordered one last week, upgrading from a cb500x. I ordered it with the high windshield part of a package of accessories including the top case. I can’t wait to pick it up. Love Honda. Nice spin in Warsaw. 🇵🇱🇮🇹
Thanks , one of the best reviews I've watched on the Honda Transalp !!
Thank you, I’m glad you like it. It’s a good bike!
How on Earth Honda managed to built such a big bike with such a low weight. I mean almost every other bike in this category is like 15-20kg heavier, except maybe from the Yamaha Tenere, which might be light, but it's top heavy, which sucks even more than being overall heavy...
Great review of the many available on RUclips. Apologies if this has been mentioned already but the handlebar risers can be flipped 180* to add a few inches to the seat-to-bar length and improve the somewhat cramped cockpit. I also found the peg placement a bit far fwd but standing with the risers flipped feels nearly perfect to me.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it and thanks for input.
Thanks for this tip. I'm waiting on mine, and on the test ride for I felt like I was constantly pulling on the bars when standing instead on a neutral stance. (but sitting felt good)
Thanks for the review!
I wish they would’ve split the headlight into two I’m looking at putting aux lights on mine to help to be seen by cars and the low beam covers great side to side but doesn’t go out very far but the high beam is good
I testrode many motorcycles this year, for example a Tiger 900 Rally Pro, Husky Norden 901, and much more..
But what I liked most was the Transalp - what a great bike it is.
If Honda would have used the front mask of the Africa Twin instead of the CB500x, I would have bought the Transalp directly after the test ride.
And what I really don't understand: Why not the air filter under the seat? Why no glas for checking the oil level?
Made a testride. No problem whatsoever using the rear brake or the gear shifter.
I like your review of the translap. I have a suggestion, if I may, how about a comparison between the translap 750 and the NC750X DCT?
I second this.
I'd prefer a comparison to a cb500x, for upgrading purposes
I'm worried that due to my personal preference of adventure motorcycles, NC750X simply wouldn't suit me anywhere more than a Transalp.
If you are short NC750 but if you are tall, transalp
will they bring the transalp 750 with dct in the future, you think?
Brilliant review!!! Really good observations brought up. The details about the characteristics of a different rider modes was a welcomed addition 😎🔥
I'm glad you like it!
I love my Vulcan 900 custom but I miss being able to stand when riding on rough roads or over train tracks. I swear my spine has been compressed a few times with these forward controls and shorter rear suspension travel. I loved my CB500X but it just wasn't enough bike anymore. It also vibrated a lot at 60 mph+. The Africa Twin is too expensive to justify. I also don't need that 1100cc to go down dirt roads and two tracks. It's overkill. The Transalp will fit my needs perfectly.
Mentioning standing on the foot pegs, I recommend that you try Aprilia Tuareg 660 which is the only motorcycle in the segment that allows a person of my size to comfortable stand up and ride without overly bending my back or legs to reach the handlebar.
On the seat I have used 2 down cushions in a cover and fixed on the seat by the air cushion fixing set up. This creates a much better height for control as well as more legroom as I am 188 cm.
Maan you are doing fantastic job with your reviews! Really love it. I did not find better videos. Also, great choices of bikes! :) Now, I want to switch my Africa Twin for something lighter. Later you reviewd KTM 890 Adventure. Which one do you prefere? Transalp or KTM? Not considering KTM has more power. If you had to buy one which one it would be?
I'm glad that you like the videos. Thanks for mentioning that! As for KTM 890 Adventure vs Transalp, I still would prefer KTM for being more comfortable in terms of suspension. But... it may also be because I simply cannot forget about the difference in performance :). Later this year I'll be digging deep again and comparing these midsize ADV motorcycles in head-to-head comparisons like I do now with the large ones. I feel that both Transalp and 890 Adventure are worth recommending. Price difference is hard to ignore though.
You didn’t ask me, but having ridden both, the 790 and the 890 ADV/R and now riding the 750 Transalp I would say, that it really depends on your gustos: If you’re in for fun and dynamics, it’ll definitely be the KTMs. If you want a super reliable Japanese can do it all bike and you don’t go hardcore offroad, than the TA will be your best friend ever. Sure, you won’t be as cool in front of the icecream parlor but than again you will be saving a remarkable amount of money as well. So, think about what you want to do with your bike first, than decide.
Thanks man. I thought a lot. And Iam riding Transalp 750 few weeks now. ;) @@anchinkan
@@jobrn1 congrats and ride safe 👍
Great! Looks like I would go for the transalp, vs Versys and Vstrom 800DE. I just hate the tube type tires
Can tube tyres easily sealed up to be tubeless?
You'd have to somehow seal the rims actually.
They make conversion kits for it but I’ve never tried them
I would have pay 1000 € more for the DCT, 350 € more for tubeless tires and 150 € more for cruise control
Come on Honda ! The world is waiting these improvement (dct is over for this model)
The question would then be if those payments would make up for developing those features. Today Honda clearly believes that not. However, DCT here could be super interesting. And they've already got a base in an NC750X, so... perhaps in some time! Cruise control has to come definitely.
If Honda made only 2 changes on this bike I would buy it immediately - give it tubeless tyres and a new headlight (the current one is taken straight from the CB500X, which I already own).
The Trnsalp has more then enough power for off road use .
Surely the foot controls re adjustable as with other Hondas?
I would be changing out the rear shock for one with more adjustments and about 15mm more travel which would get rid of the feeling of rear extra sag and help with better position of seat relationship to handlebars.
Thinking about the same. Do share the details of your planned updrades?
If you look at the gear ratios and with how the overall final gearing is, it needs to have maybe a 15 teeth front sprocket or maybe a bigger rear sprocket, because it is geared for the freeway at high speeds and it has a primary gear 1.777 and first gear is 3.00 and 0.939 sixth gear with front sprocket 16 teeth and rear sprocket 45 so 1st gear overall ratio is 14.99 to 1 and 6th gear ratio is 4.69 to 1, so it has pretty tall gearing and that overdrive 6th gives you the advantage of dropping the front sprocket a tooth or a bigger sprocket on the rear and that will make it pull harder in the lower gears and 6th gear will still have plenty for the autobahn. Love your video reviews V-Told!
Thanks for the analysis and if that's so, then it may be a useful hint to some who will want to get that additional pull. I think it actually would make a lot of sense for the kind of riding that I do, which isn't mostly highways. Thanks!
20:00 Which motorcyles would you recommend for maximum confort in city potholes and not so great paviment? All the options you have will be very much appreciated. That is my main goal. I was looking at the transalp only for city confort, just because of the numbers (suspension, wheels, etc). But real world results are all that matters
In this segment there's one clear winner in the area of suspension comfort and it's a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally. Also, the previous BMW F800GS is awesome in this aspect. Others are visibly less impressive in terms of swallowing the potholes. It turns out that suspension travel doesn't matter that much and can even be misleading.
@@VToldsMotoShow thanks for the reply
maybe you could rotate the handlebar forward a few degrees? Good review!

Excellent as always 💪
Great review? thanks a lot! How would you compare it's handling to KTM 890 Adventure that you had just tested (the new one)?
It's close to KTM 890 Adventure. Transalp may feel lighter but then somehow KTM gives me a feeling of being more planted and sticking to the road. I really enjoyed riding both in terms of handling. No wrong choices here.
Would you get a stock Africa Twin Standard or this bike with all the accessories?
How does the transalp 750 fair against tiger 850 sport, in my country the price difference is about usd 1200 so I’m a bit confused between them.
The flat terrain, the city scape, and the bus colors say "Belgium".
I would HOPE that a bike named "Transalp" could handle more than that.
How about at least some rutted gravel?
Anything car ride over gravel, so can Transalp. It's Poland, not Belgium.
I know this video was about the Transalp, but wow this man is gorgeous to look at. Lol
Great vid, but the rear brake lever cab be adjusted as can the gear lever
Thanks for mentioning!
Does this bike come with the Flash-to-Pass switch?
You can adjust the brakelever bro 🙂
Hello really nice review! I know you've also tried the Tracer 9 GT and I know they're not comparable bikes in technical terms, but even after trying them both I wouldn't know which one to choose. Who do you think one or the other is aimed at and which would you take as your "only bike"?

I'll just quickly say that out of the two, I think I'd go with the Transalp because of its higher levels of comfort and I also personally prefer the style of an adventure motorcycle. But that's very personal. Cheers!
@@VToldsMotoShow Thanks so much
Thank you for a really good review. But how would the Transalp perform in the case of driving with a passenger who, together with the luggage, would weigh 180 kg? Has any other Adv bike in a similar price range been better?
That's more than twice of my weight so a tough thing to guess but as long as it's within a given bike's payload capacity, technically it's fine. Performance-wise it would be simple: 1) none of the midsize adv motorcycles is as quick as an average 1000+ cc adv motorcycle and they'll have to work harder. 2) The better performance they give when riding solo, the better they will perform with additional weight. I think this is the only way I can put it.
One question.. Motoguzzi v85 tt or Transalp? 😊
Well, if you survived the trafic in Warsaw, then it must be a good bike 😅 Excellent review , thanks.
So this would be a good bike for a Norwegian like me if i want to do some mountain roads etc?
On a motorcycle riding in Warsaw used to be absolutely fantastic. Now it's still OK but drivers are getting more and more careless and rarely use any indicators. Especially those that switched from Fiat Panda to an Audi or BMW. About the Transalp - I believe that it's the kind of bike that can do pretty much everything rather fine.
Oglądam a tu nasza Warszawa!! 😁
Pozdrawiam :)
Lewa w górę! ;)
Isn't the soft sagging rear suspension partly solvable by adjusting the preload on the back?
I wouldn't expect miracles here. Up to some point it can help but then you're left with other things to deal with like a harsher ride.
Depends on your weight
You should get out of the city once in a while, it is an adventure bike after all lol
Actually, city is the most demanding environment where pretty much anything can be tested lol
The OEM guards and specially the skid plate are horrible. The skid plate from honda looks like a big diaper. 🤭😂 Love the bike, great video
Thanks and I'm glad that you like it. Cheers! :)
Please I’m between Ktm 890 adventure and Honda trans lap one of those will be my all time ride
Both are good offerings I believe. I'd personally go with a KTM without a doubt. But it would need some mods (like a taller seat for example) to become more comfortable during long rides.
@@VToldsMotoShow thank you very much
@@VToldsMotoShow ktm is made of cheese
Well, well! So we have a winner bike!
A “do it all well” adventure type of bike from Honda👏👏👏
I clap my hands because in the last years, Honda has been through a path of very conservative novelties and soulless proposals. This is inclusively, a bike segment that all brands are pretty much doing their bets. And I understand the market reading from the motorcycle Brands, where with general western economic slow down, inflation and loss of purchasing power, this option seems to be suitable with those constraints.
If the bike sounds right with the stock exhaust, if it is competent on the breaks and it is a plush and roomy ride, the suspension and chassis’s structure feels capable to deliver a good riding experience, if the accessory wind shield offers good wind protection, and last, if finally Honda made a good looking bike again, the brand is probably back to the game through a product that can triumph on this bike segment and class of motorcycle. The top end is properly adequate to its class on the market and if it is a choice limited in what concerns to high speeds, the reality is that we bearable can use our bikes on public roads up to 120 Km/h, or 130 km/h without receiving a road penalty ticket for it, so it’s a very rational proposition by Honda. I will test it and see.
Thanks for the very complete bike review ✌️✌️
Very right! I'm super happy that Honda has just proven that the cheapest bike in the segment can be super-competent. It's important as thanks to that they may stop this crazy process of infinite rising of prices and pushing new and cool motorcycles out of many rider's price range. What some brands now are asking seems to be close to "unethical". So we either choose competent and simply good motorcycles like this Transalp and reward Honda for that or look for used ones (which in turn inflates the prices of used ones, so not a perfect solution). This is a historical moment in the motorcycling world I think.
Didn't Honda do a survey to see what riders think about tube tires & cruise control? What an error.
I guess they are doing this surgery right now by launching the bike. That’s how it is nowadays I’m afraid.
Hi, can you please share your height and weight? I am 184 cm and 115 kg, so I am little concerned about how this soft suspension will cope with my weight 😅
Hi, I am 183 cm tall, 40 cm biceps, 42/43 EU feet size but I’m way lighter than 115 kg ;). Don’t worry about the suspension, it’s like me with a light passenger and as long as the payload is not exceeded, any bike should deal fine with a certain weight.
@@VToldsMotoShow 🤣🤣🤣thanks😉
¿ is the transalp a more complete bike than the suzuki 800 DE
That's a good question but I sort of feel like it could be. I also cannot get rid of the preference for Transalp's looks.
How tall are you sir? Im thinking of buying the taller windshield.
I'm 183 cm / 6'0" tall.
Is a wind protection on Transalp better than on Afica Twin Adventure Sports 1100 ?
With this accessory windshield that you've got to pay extra for, it's much better than a stock windshield on an Africa Twin 1100.
@@VToldsMotoShow thank You for answer
Transalpem lepiej mi się jeździło niż DE 800. Żal że tak bezpłciowo wygląda i jest trochę za mały dla fana Tenerek. To mógł być mój next, niestety trochę się zawiodłem. Pozdro
Za mały? On jest niemal tych samych rozmiarów co Africa Twin...
Clever you 👊

Traction control, can turned off and stay off?
It can get switched off on most if not all motorcycles.
test rode the other day and the twitchy throttle at slow speed in sport mode was a turn off
Do you think this could be a beginners bike?
Sure! It’s a bit tall but for someone taller or generally larger - definitely yes.
Great review!! 890 Adventure or XL750? :)
Thanks. If money wouldn't matter, then a KTM but considering one's wallet, this may go both ways. Both are great but KTM exceeds in some areas in my opinion.
@@VToldsMotoShow Didn't you just say it's the best in class, but you'd buy the KTM :)

Quale ti piace di piu suzuki 800 de? Oppure honda transalp???
Both have advantages in slightly different areas but because of the design, I'd be forced to go with the Transalp regardless of anything else. I just couldn't live with the V-Strom 800DE. It's not a quality answer but a simple one for me.
Still cant decide between transalp or the cb650r
Then pick any mopet
They are different segments for fun? Go for the 650
95hp with 4 cylinder
And a naked feel
For something practical
Transalp 750
It's stronger than the 650 and 2 cylinder but more comfortable
Great review. It would be nice if you can name the specific pros and cons compared to the other bikes in the category that you have tested. Cheers
This sort of thing is about to come in the form of direct comparisons to motorcycles the closest to it in the segment.
Suzuki 800 de❤❤
I just don’t get not offering cruise control??? It may just be a nitpick thing from an older rider, but to me it is a huge negative of this bike. I get them trying to keep it at a certain price;point, but as an option for riders in the states that have to ride great distances to get to dirt/gravel is not excusable.
I agree that this is quite strange since it's a well-developed technology nowadays already.
Honda stuffed up with that indicator switch placement. It's not a natural position.
I wonder where it's even coming from as an idea in the first place.
Upgrade the suspension, and you will have a brand new bike . It will cost around 3500 U.S. dollors .
Test Yamaha Tracer..... for me, the best contestant for Transalp.
Here you go: ruclips.net/video/mDmNnlxvT60/видео.html It's a Tracer 9 GT.
With a cruise control option it would be my go to but without its a no go sadly
Everything in Thai bike is an extra. Probably this one has almost $4000 in extras, because I'm the flesh it doesn't look good. The ride is worse than the other mid class motorcycles, and they killed the bike with these 21" front and 18" rear wheels without a good suspension. The engine is agricultural, but doesn't feel much vibration on the footpegs or handlebars. The oil sump without the bashplate is a shame and looks like it will write off the bike at first hit. Very disappointing motorcycle in my opinion. I pass it.
The lack of a bash plate seems to be just a simple cost saving.
@@VToldsMotoShow The bash plate, the 12v socket, the adjustable suspension, the welding quality, the tubeless tyres, the adjustable windscreen, ... It has cg125 quality with a powerfull engine and that is it. I test rode the v Strom 800de and even overpriced as everything nowadays it was impressive. It has the tingling on the feet after 5500rpm, but no one says how agricultural and vibey the Transalp engine feels. Honda is just pushing people to try cfmoto, Benelli and not very know other brands when searching for a budget motorcycle.
@@VToldsMotoShowApparently the factory bash plate costs $1300 AUD through Honda Australia. Must be made of Mithril 😂

Serious or just trolling?
man i really like the specs of this bike but the aesthetics are just complete MEH. that headlight looks really designed by a lazy person..
It's kind of "soft" I think. Could be more exciting but then look at a V-Strom 800DE and you suddenly don't want it to be exciting anymore.
the seat is hard, not plush. its a torture plank. so i dont understand you find it plush.

It took Honda to make a better KLR650. Still love my not so great KLR, though.
Do you know the compression ratio on the new Transalp? If it drinks cheap fuel, it should be a go almost anywhere winner!
@LTLT900 it is my favorite of my 4 bikes! So fun to ride, fast or slow!
Interesting perspective. About the compression rate, search results say "Compression Ratio 11.0:1".

Yes, good review. Tyres with inner tubes are dangerous and should be banned unless there is tube filler or off road use only. Really, not an area to be saved money on.
i put i like for respect... i hope you will do a shorter video for experience drivers and that know also of mechanics like me... best regards
No cruise control, small fuel tank, sump is close to the ground & no sump guard. Tyres have tubes in them, bad wind protection windshield is not adjustable, expensive junk. U can get a 600 transalp for €2500 & it's twice the bike 🤷🏼, if ya have money ta spend, then Aprilla Tuareg 👌,
The CB500X is a BIG win. Wow riding in the city at 2x the speed limit - genius
because ppl on bikes never want to play…
The speedo is in KPH, not MPH, mate. The most common limit is 50 KPH.
How about that user1 mode which doesn't save TC or AB settings to disabled. Why even have it?
More Africa Twin than the Africa Twin.
Very good point!
And crazy 😂
Same as the "V-strom 800..." - this one is a "HALF baked" bike. No CC, TUBED wheels, no DCT version...... NOT good 🤷🏻♂🤷🏻♂ Honda should LEART up : NO HALF BAKED BIKES !!!
They CAN sell this one WITH all the mentioned over things - for the SAME 💰💰 but they choose the STINGY way 🤢🤢 If they continue - they will loose the business to the Cineese - that, already today, release better bikes .....
Chinese may have competitive pricing yet there are some downsides of them too. I'd say that Honda was quite generous with this bike. It may not have some options and a saving in a form of tubed wheels (I find it ridiculous too), but still, as a thing to buy and just ride anywhere you want, it does the job really, really well I think.
Need to edit this down. Too many unhelpful words. Couldn’t get through it.
