People wear Disney “because it goes hard” you say. In case you wondered why we watch the channel, it is exactly because we can expect at least one line of this quality in every video. You, my friend, go hard, and we’re here for it!
I always expect at least two lines of quality per video. In this case we could add "if we can move out of our canon of tropes and find the unexpected or unique" which is now my go to comment every time I step into a thrift store.
Matt’s the best in this regard (among others). I’m always humbly deferential to one who possesses a larger working vocabulary than the one I’ve cultivated; it inspires me to double-time it the Woodshed Brittanica for clarification.
About a year ago, at Goodwill, I found a Columbia/Star Wars PFG crossover shirt. It was apparently a limited edition thing. I flipped it for $79.99. New with tags they were going for $150 or so. So yeah, pop culture things can drive sales, even for a brand like Columbia that in general doesn’t move great as far as Hawaiian shirts.
Vintage Hilo Hatties made in Hawaii are the most sought after. Hilo Hatties had to file Bankruptcy after they started having their clothes made in China. That is why the Original made in Hawaii are worth the most.
Earlier this year I came across about 20-25 vintage Jams World shirts at an estate type sale. Got them for $15 apiece. Have made serious bank on them. I also got about 15 more other brands like Reyn Spooner in the same haul. So grateful for that haul.
Excellent video, Matt, i'm going to watch this again there's so much great info! I sold a Reyn Spooner Godzilla Hawaiian shirt for really good money last year. I also love Tommy Bahama so a special video would be awesome. This video is fire, can't go wrong with Hawaiian shirts on the beach!!!
🌊 LOVED the beach noise in the background. 🏆 The thumbnail was awesome! (I know how embarrassed you feel about filming in public. 🤪 I'm sure you felt silly, but we appreciate your effort!)
I sold a brand new Tommy Bahama 3XL 100% silk floral Hawaiian shirt for 45 bucks which in hindsight I could’ve gotten more but I got it for 5 bucks 🤷🏽♂️
Very fitting backdrop- Enjoying the change of scenery! Looks like your increased dosage of naturally sourced Vitamin D and C/Sea is doing you a world of good! Just downloaded the Men’s Manifesto- wow…it’s an amazing resource! Gladly buying you some coffee and hoping others are doing the same so that your digital “cup runneth-over” with financial contributions and equal blessings! You are a Godsend to the reseller community- especially us newbies! Thanks for all you do!
Thank you for this, Matt. Living in Honolulu, I definitely see all of the Hawaiian/Aloha Shirts. I was just gifted a Reyn Spooner Thai Silk shirt to sell, and this line of RS seems to perform better than the cotton shirts. I think you mentioned Cooke St and Bishop on your not-so-great list, but they are local brands, and I find them often. I generally do grab the larger sizes in these and all brands, but they do ok. I recently found a Pataloha, which I am excited to be listing today. You are looking great in Mexico!
Reyn Spooner makes a Christmas shirt each year. People collect them. I sold one for $45 last year. The rest of my Hawaiian shirt hoard I wear on my channel.
Awesome video and content once again. Very unique place to film, beats being inside, and the crashing waves are nice atmosphere. Always valuable and timely. Be well!
Do a video on what you are packing for your travel journey? Are you doing a 90 Day Tourist Visa per country? If you find any clothing gems while shopping will you mail it back to Cali? Are you concerned that Cali Gov wants to tax people if they move from Cali?
i am an aussie living in califonia fo 15.5 years... i am happy to helpl with any questions or planning.. both dollywood and graceland are in tennasee. 11 hour drive between charlotte and graceland and dollywood is about half way'
Several years ago, I picked up quite a lot of those "ass brands" during $1 days at Good Will. Unfortunately, I'm still stuck with many of those "ass brands" today!
such a great video I did go in and look at my Hawaiian shirts Thankfully most were given to me or were found in storage units I have half middlin and half ass lol Redid them all and updated them and let's see what happens Cannot wait to be able to pick up Manifesto 4 It has been a life changer for me Thanks
Thanks for the info! It must have taken hours of research to weed out that exhaustive list of ass brands, never mind the good stuff. Knowing the bad brands is really far more useful, too. It's easy to try to remember that "if you find X (which I never will) grab it! it's worth $100" Far more help to know which things that I see every time I walk into a thrift store are worth wasting time looking up, or not.
Great video. So much info. I usually keep my eye out for Hawaiian shirts but unfortunately, I don't run across them very often where I am. Would love a video on Tommy Bahama. Women's dresses do really well for me.
I was having a slightly hard time paying attention with the lull of the waves in the background 😆 I picked up a Banana Cabana shirt and I am sure I looked it up at the time, and probably got it because I think the print is cool, so I'm hoping someone else will like it! I can't remember if it was a bigger size... and since it's upstairs and I'm procrastinating with listings I couldn't tell you any details except that I remember the tag. I gotta get these things listed before summer is over. That's me, Last Minute Fritzy 😖
I have been finding you information very helpful. I would like to buy the Manifesto, but I would like to know what YOU think a good price is? Also, you are looking much healthier.
Reyn Spooner did collaborations with Disney that were apparently pretty desirable. I found a 3XL of the movie "Brave" that went for pretty good money. Do you recommend using "camp" in your descriptions? I always thought that was a bit odd.
Correct. Camp collars resemble a sports coat collar, ~90% of the time they’ll usually have a button & corresponding receptacle. It’s designed so the wearer can somewhat “formalize” this iconic casual garment by buttoning it. The very pinnacle is the “camp loop collar”, classic design emanating from the 40’s and continuing on in men’s fashion. The design is self explanatory.
Last year the Tommy Bahama shirt that sold for the most on ebay was listed Wrong as being made in The Bahamas. All Tommy Bahamas are made in China, not the Bahamas.
Can you talk slower and it take like an hour? 😘 I’m going to have to play it again anyway cuz I wasn’t paying attention. I hope you’re having fun too. It’s it nice being in countries with no thrifting?
I still have a Hawaiian shirt listed from a couple years ago. Must be time to relist. Rayon shrinks and wrinkles easily. Have you delved into selling undergarments? A guy recently told me he did well selling bras.
We all need to start watching Tom Selleck Magnum PI reruns, to channel the look... he used to live up near Ventura, apparently an avid Rose grower last I heard... genuinely nice man...LAXVESPA-LOSANGELES

Very helpful, thank you! I love the beach and sound of the waves in the background, and also the random image, lol.
Somehow, I never thought I'd hear the word "luaus" coming out of your mouth... and "Defeat the assness of the brand" is my new reselling battle cry.
Love to watch. You are so real. Smart and funny. Those eyes ain't bad either.
"St. John's Ass"= the highlight of the video. Thank you for the belly laugh! 🤣
I picked up a R Spooner which a San Francisco 49er theme and sold it for $110. Very Nice flip.
🌊 LOVED the beach noise in the background.
🏆 The thumbnail was awesome! (I know how embarrassed you feel about filming in public. 🤪 I'm sure you felt silly, but we appreciate your effort!)
Your videos are savings tons of research hours. Thank you for sharing
So calming listening to the ocean while you teach us. Love it!
BRB. Going to list all of my death pile Tommy Bahama silk camp shirts now. Thanks, Matt!
🏃🏻♀️🌺🌴🏖️🏝️☀️🌊
I sold a brand new Tommy Bahama 3XL 100% silk floral Hawaiian shirt for 45 bucks which in hindsight I could’ve gotten more but I got it for 5 bucks 🤷🏽♂️
Bought the Men’s Wear Manifesto. It’s donation based but your content, hard work and expertise pushed me to “pay up😆). I hope others do the same.
Thank you Dianne
Hope you're doing well! I'm happy to see you're still putting out videos!
I tend to find quite a few linen and silk Hawaiian shirts
You’re a wealth of information you beautiful boy.
You’re putting out a ton of content, please don’t burn out.
✌🏼❤️

Found a vintage Reyn Spooner Michigan State Hawaiian shirt this morning! Timely Video!
Spot on as always, thanks Matt!
so love hearing and seeing the ocean while learning from you

Also, it is Hee-low (Hilo) Hattie, like the city of Hilo on Hawaii island:)
Your videos are solidly the best content on RUclips for men's clothing. Thanks so much. Just purchased your Menswear Manifesto. Nice Work!
Thanks Brian
yes to the autopsy Tommy Bahama video! Great info and insight as always!
Good info to know! I put Hawaiian shirts in my booth in the summer and most are gone by fall, ass brand or not! Lol!
Be well!

I had no idea this was a thing. This was very informative as are the rest of your vids. Thanks
Several years ago, I picked up quite a lot of those "ass brands" during $1 days at Good Will. Unfortunately, I'm still stuck with many of those "ass brands" today!
Dude your hat is straight 🔥.
It is neither dusty nor old.
Bought the manifesto. Thanks and thanks for your videos

I have a large amount of Hawaiian shirts sitting in the Death pile... Will work on them tomorrow. Thanks Matt
Great information Matt! Didn’t know there were so many brands that make Hawaiian style shirts! Thank for the info and waves at the end.
Nice to see you by the 🌊
Man I was doing so good until St. John's ASS... and I lost it and damn near choked 🤣🤣🤣
Very informative video, thanks!
Great video. So much info. I usually keep my eye out for Hawaiian shirts but unfortunately, I don't run across them very often where I am. Would love a video on Tommy Bahama. Women's dresses do really well for me.
Informative...happy you made this one!
Thanks Mat, your knowledge fills my pockets 😅😂 lol

Great video. Thank you for the research. Can you do one on swim trunks?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Nothing quite makes you feel like a man like a silk shirt with a floral print…
And 2 fingers of bourbon!
Facts 😂
Indeed.
I have been finding you information very helpful. I would like to buy the Manifesto, but I would like to know what YOU think a good price is? Also, you are looking much healthier.
Great video Matt. Thanks!
If you do a swimwear video Mr. Turk is a Bolo. Just sold some swim trunks for $50
Great video, so good to see you!
Thank you I love watching your videos I learn a lot
Do the Tommy Bahama video!
Another super informative video !!!! Thanks... thoughts on Daniel Cremieux Italian Fabric100% Cotton?
Reyn Spooner did collaborations with Disney that were apparently pretty desirable. I found a 3XL of the movie "Brave" that went for pretty good money. Do you recommend using "camp" in your descriptions? I always thought that was a bit odd.
Camp refers to the type of open collar where the buttons start lower on the chest - Matt is wearing a camp collar in this vid
Not all Hawaiian shirts have a camp collar but a lot do

Literally LOL with some of the high ass comments! You on a public beach, but all alone! Awesome!
I have had luck with RJC dresses for women and girls
Linen is the real deal. Just flipped a Bruno (ass brand) linen camp shirt for 21 bucks. Got it a week ago
Thank you great content 👍
If you find anything in 4xl or bigger it will sell no matter what it is. I’ve sold crap brands in huge sizes for decent money.
This is the way
Thank you Matt for this really good info . Bill Blass is Ass St Johns Ass lol love it . Excellent vid
Last year the Tommy Bahama shirt that sold for the most on ebay was listed Wrong as being made in The Bahamas.
All Tommy Bahamas are made in China, not the Bahamas.
"Because it goes hard" 😆
I love the thumb nail
I sold a Jamacian Jaxx Silk 2XL for $40. In Feb. 2023.
You are listing in Mexico?
The modifiers sometimes defeat the assness. Well said.
Nice work
I could only imagine being at the beach. 😊
lol royalty free image
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
'can defeat the assness' love.
So here is the problem with your manifesto. I live in an area where I have never even seen 95% of the brands that you mention.
Can you talk slower and it take like an hour? 😘 I’m going to have to play it again anyway cuz I wasn’t paying attention. I hope you’re having fun too. It’s it nice being in countries with no thrifting?
Isn’t
There's thrifting here, they just don't let me film, haha.
I still have a Hawaiian shirt listed from a couple years ago. Must be time to relist. Rayon shrinks and wrinkles easily. Have you delved into selling undergarments? A guy recently told me he did well selling bras.
you can slow down your playback speed :)
You can adjust the setting by 25%
You said Caribbean wrong. 😉
Tomato tomaaato..
Either way is acceptable
here for the eyes... wonderful info too!
We all need to start watching Tom Selleck Magnum PI reruns, to channel the look... he used to live up near Ventura, apparently an avid Rose grower last I heard... genuinely nice man...LAXVESPA-LOSANGELES
my favorite part is going through the list of ass brands. lol
