I bought the XF version of this driver last summer and have been very impressed. My brother in law and I played a few rounds together after I bought it and it just so happens he was in the market for a driver also. He had been almost ready to pull the trigger on a Sim 2 because he said it was a good 20 yards better than his driver. He used my driver on several holes and was impressed. So much so he got fitted and ended up with the exact same club the next time we played. The only difference was the grip. I didn’t hit them both but he did and said the distance was pretty close but dispersion and price were what sold him on the PXG.

I just got fitted for the PXG 0811x this week. My Cobra SpeedZone was just as long, but the dispersion was night-and-day for me with the PXG. The fitting experience was also head-and-shoulders above my previous fittings. I will say the shaft and settings have to come into play, too. I tried 3 different shafts but honestly all 3 were far better than what I have gotten out of the Cobra, a Callaway Mavrik, and the older Titleist TS3 that I have owned or tried over the past 3 years. Nit-picky note, but I am pretty sure the PXG only changes 1 or 1.5* so I am going to guess you actually had the PXG at 10*. That probably doesn't make a HUGE difference, but could explain why you thought the PXG was going a little higher. Great review - especially since it makes me feel better about my purchase!

PXG are getting a reputation as a great players' club here in the UK, with great quality. I guess brand heritage means a lot to a lot of golfers, but if you have the quality you can break through - just look what TaylorMade did almost overnight around 1980.
Love to see a dispersion test on these two clubs when your sim is up and running.
    Love the on-course tests!

Great video. Keep up the good work. Bought a Sim2 at TM fitting event early last summer. Started great then struggled. Bought a fitted XF at half the cost with higher loft 2 months later. For me the Sim2 is longer, but not as consistent. The XF is very forgiving for me, but not as long. Loft, shaft & bad swings so I carry both to see who shows up on a given day.

As a Lydia Ko fan, I have been thinking of the PXG but I have just bought the sim 2. Was fitted with the Titleist 2 and the Sim 2. Titleist was the more accurate but I lost 50 yards on my old R7 using it. With the Sim 2 gained another 60 yards ( and it was ahead of the R7) using Bridgestone soft feel balls. The pro pointed out my smash factor was only 1.44, so he got a Bridgestone E12 ( I think) and I used that, immediately the smash factor jumped up to 1.49 and stayed there. Maybe worthwhile testing a few balls out. Not the top of the range but the lesser quality balls. Good video again Ta muchly

I had wanted to try PXG and when they went on sale for under $300 I had to give it a try. I've played the XF for almost a year and it's one of the best if not the best driver I've ever played. I know that's an overused statement but, it is really good. I'm 70 and went with the XF for a little bit of added forgiveness but, it's still plenty long. I had to do an online fitting since there is no PXG fitting near me but, the gentleman took over an hour to fit me the best he could. Ended up with 10.5 w/ the Diamana 60 Limited and it's working well. I am going to visit my local Pro shop over the winter to see if I can gain anything with a different shaft. Highly Recommended.

I purchased the PXG 0811 driver in January because I saw the price drop and all these reviews. I have the Ping G425. I could not get the numbers out of the PXG that I could from my Ping, not even close. PXG was great about it, they actually send me for free to a fitter in NJ to look at any other combo head and shaft they offer. Long story short send the driver back. I still have my Ping G425. I saw the price and went for it, but it did not work for me.

I bought my PXG nearly new for £220 and it is fantastic, forgiving, above all I can line up in line with the path I hope to drive. With my calloway and cobras I have always had to take a tight line to the right to achieve the straight line trajectory, and of course when I just mishit, the ball would be too far right for my liking. My chums have also tried the PXG Gen 4 0811x with same stiff shaft and it flies for them as well.

Has my PXG XT delivered today. Took it straight to the range and fell in love with it straight away. Changed the weight to the heel position for a draw and it was so consistent. I game the same driver, PXG Gen4 0811X, but with the Mitsubishi Tensei CK Blue and I love it. It is plenty forgiving and super long. As a Marine veteran, I love the company and what Mr Parson does for the military, but it is great that they perform. I also game their Gen4 irons (just upgraded from Gen1 irons) and they are the best irons I ever played. My last set before the Gen1 were Mizuno and Ping before that. Maybe you can test the Gen4 irons next, you will love them. Keep up the good work and glad you are back on the course.

I have been going on a nice little binge watch of alot of your let's play through videos it has been alot of fun watching a good golfer that doesn't hit 350 plus drives or 208 7 irons like alot of another channels do on you tube. I don't mean this as disrespect in anyway if I wrote my tested gapping on my clubs I would feel like a fool so watching a player with skills that is not afraid to leave a 215 220 yard drive ! Just got the PXG 0211 and it is much better than my Taylormade M2. A little longer but much more forgiving. I’m thinking I will now get the 0211 3 and 5 wood too.

Really interesting results. Swing is looking good! Love my Sim2 with Smoke 60g Stiff. Like throwing darts. Not much longer than my M2 but more accurate. I like the results of the PXG. I too am in Central Florida btw.

I switched to PXG from the Sim2. Sim was to light had a hard time telling where the head was in my swing. If I swung hard with the Sim sprayed the ball. First time I have switched from Taylor Made.

Not tried them but I’d take Sim purely for dispersion looking at the shot tracer. Yes distance is a bonus but can’t beat straighter shots to fairways.

Grabbed the 0811 X at a great sales price late last year, and agree with you on the forgiveness and the "tinny" sound, but with the gains against my old driver, I am not concerned with getting used to it. Waiting for spring, as I'm not out and playing until April at the earliest, but looking forward to a great golfing year with it.

I outdrive my buddy who uses the sim 2 by a long shot with my M2(longest drive 344) Overall he scores better than me but I outdrive him 90% of the time. I switched to a PXG 0211 which doesn’t get as much distance as my m2 but it’s more consistent on the fairways. My PXG also outdrives his sim2, I foresee myself attaining PXG 0811 gen4.

Always wondered how good/bad these drivers are? Don’t know anything about them. Not sure if I have seen them at my nearest golf shop here in Western Canada.
Maybe they are there just never paid attention. I’m assuming it is cheaper than the big brand names?
If so, nice to see they are just as good as them. Have to have a look see if I can find one and put it against my 425 Max.
    Thx for the review
    Happy golfing 🏌️‍♀️

For a long time they were WAY more expensive then the big brand names. A set of irons for $3,500+, etc. Lately they’ve become much more reasonable, and especially this driver.

Looks like you're probably gaining a lot of distance with the big draw spin of the pxg... if you can control it then cool! But the taylormade was peppering the fairway and won't bounce into trouble

Great Video Gabe. I really enjoy these shootouts. I’m surprised at the results but it is what it is. Do u think this PXG driver competes with that Haraken Japanese driver you were hitting? I’m also hearing this pxg is on par with the forgiveness of the G425. I just bought a Sim2 max at a heavy discount but I might need to look at the PGX! Dang you!

    • @LetsPlayThru
      @LetsPlayThru  2 года назад +2

They are both solid as can be. So definitely don’t be regretting your Sim 2 purchase. The Haraken is on the way, so we will see you very soon which comes out on top 😁
