That volume knob might be annoying, but I could see it being beneficial also, as you can judge where the volume is by where the power icon is pointing too.
In theory that would be fine, but since it can turn a full 360 degrees, you can never actually be sure of the position unless you meticulously keep track of it
@@xFactoryUSAActually, I have a 2018 Jetta SE which also has this issue and have OCD so I keep it upright and only adjust the volume with the steering wheel
GLIs are underrated. Everyone knows the GTI (and pays for the privilege of buying one) but sometimes you want a trunk. The DSG is a fantastic transmission.
To avoid the power button being off-centered when changing the volume, I just turned the volume all the way down whilst aligning the power button to its proper position, and then only use the steering wheel control for the volume. Something that you shouldn’t have to do, but it drives me crazy seeing the power button icon lopsided
I got a 40th anniversary one. I absolutely love it. It's fun but practical in a lot of ways. The haptic steering wheel has never bugged me. Never accidentally triggered it.
And The MK8 GTI/Golf R wins in the back with air vents and 2 USB-C ports. The Golf R adds a third zone with rear HVAC controls. With 35 inches legroom and 41 inches headroom the GTI is quite comfortable and better than most called sport sedans.
Just picked up a 23 GLI Autobahn. It’s the best car I’ve owned so far. It runs like an economy car until you decide to let it rip. Only downside is that you can tell the ECU software is holding the car back from its full potential. A stage 1 tune should take care of that issue.
My wife's Challenger has 190k miles on it so we have definitely started looking at new cars for her. I'm an N fan as I had a Veloster N before so the redesigned Elantra N is definitely first choice, but the more I look at the Jetta GLIs the more I like them. I was just telling my father in law yesterday how crazy these prices are. Back in 2013 I bought my Speed3 fully loaded for 24k. If it existed today it'd easily be 36-37k.
I have a 2024 GLI 40th Anniversary Edition. Thank you for calling out the power/volume knob! Also: because of the detents, the power symbol can never be perfectly straight up, but rather about two degrees off center either way. My OCD is most displeased.

First cars should be cheap, crappy, and slow. You have a good chance of wrecking it. If you survive, you'll appreciate working to get your first nice car.
