      Okay, so...playing devil's advocate here: How do you propose they track performance and reward officers doing their job correctly and efficiently?
      It's not that I disagree with the sentiment that I ask that, by the way. We've made official quotas illegal, but _unofficial_ ones still persist and have the same effects. At the same time, there is a need to track officer performance, the quality of that performance, and incentivize excellence. How do we do that in a way that isn't an quota and/or won't have the same effects as one? I've been thinking about that one for a while now, and I don't have an answer for it yet. Wish I did, though, since it's not just a problem over there in Utah. It's _everywhere._

      It's not always about how much they make from tickets. The tickets justify their budget. They always want a bigger budget because the people who manage that budget and the people under it justify their pay based on how much money is in the budget, how many employees they have and how much equipment they use. So to justify an ever increasing budget, the need ever increasing need for "service". This is why you always see the fire department respond to pidley things they aren't needed for, the ever increasing use of SWAT and the general over use of government agencies, they have to justify their budgets. THAT is the money you have to follow.

      I did a bit of research and it would appear that Utah is much like my state. A speeding citation issued by a state officer (State Police, DNR, etc) is paid or adjudicated in the county court in which the citation was issued. Any fines or fees collected by the county are kept by the county or perhaps a municipality. A portion of the funds could go into a specific state training program as in my state P.O.S.T. ( Peace Officers Standards and Training ). State agencies are typically funded by state budgets proposed by the executive (Governor) and then hashed out and approved by the legislature, and to a much lesser degree, civil forfeitures.

      Not surprisingly, it would seem that there isn’t much of a systematic tracking of traffic stops by the various and multitude of police agencies in the U.S., so exact figures are hard to come by; after all, U.S. police agencies aren’t big on transparency.
      When one takes into account that in 2022 U.S. police only cleared about 38% of violent crimes and about 12% of property crimes, one might think that the time and resources taken by those 20,000,000 or so traffic stops could have been better spent.

      A game wardens jurisdiction is the entire state and yes they have the authority to give traffic tickets it's just not their main job but if you want an warrant for unpaid fines I guess that's your choice😂 just like the people who say they wouldn't stop for one are willing to turn a simple ticket into a felony arrest for fleeing an officer. As far as no radar that is not true they use radar to check speeds of atv and snowmobile and pacing is a valid and legal way for any officer to check your speed

      @Parasclepius this time they may not have but that doesn't mean it's not an option for them or unavailable people just seem to think that radar is the only way to check speeds and it's not. Ticket quotas in any form are not right my complaint is people saying a ticket from a warden is not valid when it totally is legal for them to give traffic tickets when they see it. The guy in yellow car saying he didn't know they did that was stopped for doing 100 in a 70 that far over is easy to see radar or not.

    • @Parasclepius
      @Parasclepius Месяц назад

      @user-wq3tf8qn4e just as easy to lie about the speed he was going, too. The warden can make up any number he wants, and there's no radar data to prove it. They need to be focused on poachers, not road regulations. If they're that bored that they can step outside their normal duties to patrol roads, then the department should cut the extraneous positions so that there's enough work that they won't get bored doing the job their supposed to be doing.
