With over a million miles of flying behind me (and no airline review footage to edit), I thought this might be a great opportunity to tackle every travelers biggest question:
Which airline has the worst food?
In this video, I call out 5 of the worst airline meals that I’ve ever eaten. Because…complaining about first world problems is fun, right?

I love the backgrounds that you’ve been using. It stills gives the feeling like your going somewhere even though your not.
Thanks Kit! That’s the fun about shooting in front of a green screen. I can go anywhere at a moment’s notice!
hahaha
Even the worst airline meal will be fantastic after all this is over.
Can’t argue with that. 😆👍🏻
@@sanspotter Keep safe, your videos are great.
i just flew Lufthansa.... nope.....! IT STILL FUCKING SUCKS! watch my review when that comes out!. 747-8i flight soon
@@sanspotterwow.. some of those look worse than prison food..
Worst food? Taca Airlines when I was younger, eating lasagna. It didn't taste bad, but the aftermath was so bad, I haven't eaten lasagna since.
Lol...the aftermath of a bad meal is always the worst part. 😅
The worst for me was on a swiss flight heading to Kenya. Men that rice was hard as a nail
@@qase1985 sounds like it was frozen
Please describe the "aftermath" in detail
@@mergat2970 For everyones sanity, I prefer to not do that. :D
China Eastern JFK-PVG economy. Mystery meat with noodles in mysterious sauce. Didn’t taste that great and was salty. Plus they were stingy on refreshments and water. It was a 15 + hour flight.
All Chinese catering is on par with Air Koryo. Even airlines with really good food become nasty if they have a stopover in China. I had business class noodles that match your description once from PVG-LHR so it's not just economy.
funny thing is that with many airlines, you can actually customize your food. just book on their site and try flight options
Here's another one: The "meals' I have been offered instead, mostly involve "another salad" (Yippiee!") or some very weird choices" Once I got a totally white/pink "meal"...a naked, skinless chicken piece, and several other pale additions to the tray. On the label, it sadi "Bland". On another flight, the substitute, was a tray which arrived carrying an enormous claw (!) of some (sea? )creature? I can hardly believe this even though I did experience this. You may ask why I didn't bring my own food and snacks....I do, and will continue to do so.
Have to say, Iberia economy JFK-MAD is great, because the food is alright, and the fact that they have at least 3 hot dinner rolls per person that you can get at any time. Also, there is a more than sufficient amount of food.
Love the food service from Korean Airlines, Philippine Airlines, and KLM. I find US-based carriers the worst, mostly sandwiches that remind me of school lunches.
If you fly KLM more than once you’ll be disappointed because their lunch options from Amsterdam are stagnant, it’s always chicken and rice and a vegetarian red sauce pasta. It’s pretty good once or twice but having used KLM as my main carrier living in NL for 8+ years I find it really disappointing and i always look to fly other airlines when possible.
4th Place is actually pretty good, in my opinion. I have never flew on Delta before, but I think that looks good.
The 2 worst meals I've had were both on British Airways Business Class PHX to LHR. The pasta I had for dinner was literally hard to eat because it was so ...... hard. Had to have been reheated more than twice. Then the breakfast was an English breakfast which I just can't stomach. Soggy tomatoes, underdone sausage, runny eggs and beans. I ended up drinking lots of Chardonnay to offset my hunger pangs. LOL
Great video Scott! In my opinion, the setup looks very professional and the sound is fine for me!
Thanks Cam!
Who else thought he was actually shooting this in the background before he talked about the green screen 😅
Glad to know that the illusion is somewhat convincing... 😆
Took me far too long too realise this is a green screen/background. I was thinking, how did he get to an airport?
"I mean the macaroni's soggy, the peas are mushed,
And the chicken tastes like wood"
So you try to play it off like you think you can
By saying that you're full
That No.1 ... really was a "number one" ... I'd have preferred an Air Koryo "special burger".
Haha Dog or Cat?
I enjoyed your video Scott! I like the background as it it has a “travel” feel to it!
Thanks Anita! Good ‘ol San Diego International Airport. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Will never forget Delta to Hawaii. Pineapple salad, pineapple chicken entree and pineapple cake for dessert. Oh yeah, lots of pineapple juice flowing. The meal wasn't bad, but we did not want to see any more pineapple for awhile. 🍍
Pineapple plane.
Bruv, I really missed your videos. Thankfully, you posted! Quarantine will be less boring! XD
Haha, I just miss airline food of any quality... I miss flying ;-) And I am the weird one who actually enjoys eating on a flight, even in economy.
No, same here with me :)
If you fly Turkish Airlines in economy, you can actually get good food, they have metal silverware even. My flight was two weeks ago with them. I even wanted another one, you can also go to the back and ask for a drink (don’t do it too much, flight crew deserve respect too) On Boeing 777s, there are footrests. Overall, I recommend Turkish Airlines
6:10 That’s it for breakfast 😳?
After numerous flights across the world, and a bad flight meal on a Swiss airline I began ONLY ordering the kosher meals. More food and way better quality.
First time I’ve watched one of your videos and I’m about to spend my friday night binging on these. Love it!!
Great video as always, so glad you've found a way to still produce content when grounded. Will we have a TOP 5 Best airline food video too? Pleeaase.....
The TRULY dreaded airline meal for me:
-A brick of stone cold, very sharp cheesy lasagna that is all cold/half cooked cheese/lasagna pasta/grain part, no tomato, herbs,, eggplant, or meat
-Stone cold lima beans
-Tasteless honeydew melon
-Pecan carrot oat "maple" cookie with no maple flavoring, very little molasses or brown sugar, etc.

Worst airline food I ever had was on US Airways! The dinner I received on my international flight was a boxed lunch with a sandwich, chips, and a cup of water! They charged for beer and if I remember correctly you even had to pay for a coke, headsets were also a up charge! That airline was the pits and I’m not at all sad it’s no longer around.
Can I just say Scott, seeing you post a new video is the highlight to not only my day, but my week, your videos are incredible, keep up the amazing work !!!!
Thanks Josh! It’s hard making content without flying, but I’m trying to keep it flowing!
Scott, I’m so sorry! For months you’ve said to go check out your website and I never did... but today... HOLY COW! I have been missing out!!!
Glad I finally got you over there Nathan! 😆
i love your channel ,everytime im going on holiday ,i watch your videos to make me even more excited
Everybody gangsta until they eat Air Koryo's sandwich
Way back to the early 2000’s, Lufthansa economy breakfast. The eggs-they were grey. The lady sitting next to even noticed. Nope, no way. 2) Air Canada YYZ to SFO, glad I ate something at the airport as nothing was served other than pay items. One of the best was Delta first class flight from Orlando to SLC, got stuck with last reminding item-a burger. But that burger was so good. Not dry, seasoned just right. Wish I could remember the sides. Last May, got to experience the Polaris Lounge at LAX. So nice. Sorry to hear that lots of them are now closed.
I’d pass on the gray eggs too. 😅 But yeah, I’ve had really good meals in Delta first class (and D1), so that’s why I was disappointed with that rice pudding. Not my cup of tea!
do you consider A BURGER AS A FIRST CLASS MEAL THATS PATHTIC UND A DISGRACE ON SUCH A LONG FLIGHT
@@clausstimpfig3803 Calm down Karen, a lot of nice restaurants serve good burgers you know...
@@clausstimpfig3803 I’ve flown on Delta first class domestic and had their hamburger as a lunch option and it’s damn good! No everybody expects or even wants lobster bisque and caviar on a 4 hour flight!
@@werewolflover8636 no, I do expect de luxe dining. And a burger is involting. Delta is nothing compared to other airlines with an international first class cabin. Fly Air France La premiere...Fantastique
I don’t know why I enjoy watching videos like this but I do
Wow, I actually thought you were in an airport!
That airport background is quite nice! Sound could surely be improved but it's a really good video!
British Airways have been on a downward spiral for many years now. I'm English and live in England but I avoid BA like the plague, they are always a last resort airline for me, even easyJet are better.
For sure, it's a roulette when you book with BA, food is almost always awful, and some of the planes need some serious TLC
They have now shifted to DO and CO which provides the best food in the skies.
I’ve flown their club class product with the new Do & Co catering and can certify it is delicious.
What?? Easy Jet offers a first class cabin????? BA is wunderbar
British Airways, the worlds favourite airline .Really!!
I've also flown Virgin Atlantic and remember the meals being quite average. On the flip side , some of the best were on Air New Zealand and Qantas.
Ronald Charan I second Qantas
9:18 Fun fact, I threw up 🤮 on a BA flight (and I suspected the pasta from the night before was the culprit, as after I had that meal, I felt something was off about my stomach but did not think much of it) but what happened was, after being held in a holding pattern for around half an hour, we touched down hard, and well... yeah. Turbulent landing, I had a "vendetta" against BA after that incident because I blamed them for making me puke (but now realizing that, it was unreasonable, just some crappy airline food, and plus I was in elementary school at the time).
I'd gladly fly them again and see what it was like though.
Great video!
Which airline food gave you the most constipation and which airline food gave you diarrhea so bad that you couldn't hold it.
I NEVER fly Hawaiian Airlines. I learned the hard way. Miserable is the best way to describe the overall experience.
OMG you found a way to build a gate at your back yard, Stoked
Hawaiian and Air Tahiti both come to my head when comes to bad airline meals. Back when I flew Air Tahiti LAX to Papeete by the time they got to me only the fish option was left. It was gross. Did not eat it.
Fast fwd to my latest Hawaiian flights and for more than is a nice safe airline, the food has not yet catch up with it.
My upcoming trip is with Delta/ Virgin, upper class....Let's see how they do, but I will still bring my own food and snacks.
Hi Scott ... glad yo see you’re still alive and seemingly well. Since your rating of British Airways four years ago, they’ve upgraded their Business and First Class inflight meals and switched caterers to Austrian group Do & Co.
I think post pandemic inflight experience (boarding, meals ... or lack of ) is going to be very very different and a shock those who venture out right after it’s over.
Last year I decided to upgrade myself from economy to Club World on BA from LAX to LHR and I have to say I was a little disappointed. The crew wasn't really friendly: they carried out their job but it was nothing special. The meal also wasn't great: quality and quantity were a bit to be desired: I don't expect huge quantities but other airlines offer a little more.
Man of all the good restaurants in the airports you go to, maybe eating before boarding is a must.yes your going to pay more. But you can satisfy your hunger.
HE'S GOT A GREEEN SCRRREEEENNN!!! tbh its weird not seeing an living moving airport in your shots tho. keep up the great work, hope to meet you in the skies someday!
Haha, I’m thinking of all kinds of fun possibilities with that green screen. 🤔😆
lol i love how you called fruit a condiment
Hey there, be more of a San Diego Booster, use a skyline backdrop for your home videos.
I flew Emirates to India a couple years ago, and the food was rather soggy. I didn't even eat the breakfast because the egg and vegetables looked spongy.
When I went on my first business class flight, I got a chicken dish, and the first plate was a salad with a tiny bit of chicken. Then I learned they have multiple courses up in business, unlike economy.
For me, the worst thing in airplane food is it falling apart. Small tray, flaky dry croissant with sticky jelly, a mess. With the different airpressure, I wonder why they even bother with airy pastries.
Acoustic panels won't really help your problem. I don't know what your mic setup is like but I would recommend ordering an XLR shotgun mic and placing that above your head, out of frame, using a mic arm. Combined with scouting panels you'll get amazing sound.
The sound IS OK! Don't worry far better than a lot of other videos!
The background is great. Seems you're in an airport terminal!!
Soviet-era Aeroflot “athletic” chicken served cold was an experience
Bruh I thought you were recording in an airport at first. 💀💀
Northwest (NWA) used to serve the worst food LAX-HNL. I flew them quite a few times. They had a cheaper price and I was young and working back in those days. Even flew them to NRT and same thing. Miserable tasteless food.
You're right about VS catering leaving a lot to be desired. The "breakfast" is sad
Somehow this still got me hungry.
So how did you record voice overs before if your sound is now not satisfactory?
Off to Facebook!
I have a much better microphone for recording voiceovers! Not only that, I can pile pillows and blankets around me to muffle the echo. 😄
@@sanspotter Pillowfort! Also, why weren't you using that microphone for this?
Love your videos!
My worst meals were on Fiji Airways going to Australia from LAX and back . Absolutely horrible. The desert on one of them was the best part. Beautiful plane (A350-900) and nice crew, but the food sucked! The snack were good if they put them out which was only on one leg.
My worst airline food was lunch on a Thai Airways A300, Hat Yai to Singapore when I was 5.
Got served up one of the nastiest spinach noodles (I can still remember its taste 20 years on) and severe turbulence didn't help my cause either.
My lunch ended up inside the airsickness bag and all over the floor LOL
. Never threw up this badly in my life.
It seems American Airliners serves the worst airline foods, compared to other countries.so disappointing. Thanks for the heads up.
Set-up looks great, sound seems good!😎
Thanks! I’m still not totally satisfied with it yet...but it’s getting there!
Wow! $12.00 for that? I’d be miffed!🙂Paul in case you hadn’t guessed.😆
Can you only imagine what service is going to be like now with the face mask mandate the airlines are imposing? I have a friend who’s an f/a for Skywest, she told me drinks are either in bottles or cans and passengers receive a pouch/bag with offerings which maybe has biscottis or pretzels depending on time of day. I’d hate to be flying Premium anytime soon.🤨
I’ve never had the chance to experience bad airline food... or really any airline meals. Gotta love JetBlue’s unlimited snacks though :). As much of an AvGeek as I am, I’ve only flown economy within the domestic U.S. with one international flight from FL to Nassau which lasted 50 mins. No meals for me!
Normally if the flights is more than 10hrs , u will get svc of 2 hot meals. Less than that you will 2 svc meal, one is snack , the other one is hot meal. Less than 6 hrs, 1 svc of 1 hot meal only
If the inflight food is good( hello Qatar, Emirates and Singapore), it elevates the entire flight experience.
But if it’s bad, it leaves more than a bad taste in the mouth.
I’m weird...I look forward to an airline meal.
Great video, as usual.
Great video man
Thanks Bradley!
I actually thought the food on my El Al flight JFK to Ben Gurion was good. Perhaps due to this being 13 hours non-stop they were smart in keeping people happy! Breakfast was nice ,a good salmon experience, as in bagels too!
always your content and sneakers Scott.... keep on keepin on
To be honest, I like the background sets, it's good and the sound is ok, no problem at all !
Thanks! Maybe I’m just too picky... 😆
It's when an airline goes from quite good to super budget on the economy meals I start worrying a little. I have an airline in mind but it's a long time ago so might be unfair to name them. Anyway this airline went from having a really nice economy meal on long haul to super budget. Think of the worst frozen snack meals at a supermarket. I start to wonder if they are skimping on things like pilot simulator training and tire replacements!
My worst was easily in AA domestic first in February, made a bad decision getting a scrambled eggs benedict on a plane and it was borderline inedible, thank God for the fruit and the biscuits that came on a tray that salvaged some of it bc it was truly terrible, wish I got the oatmeal.
i swear to god i should start an airline catering business .. i LOVE eating on planes always have and it doesn't take much to make a good meal.. and i cant believe how grim some of this food looks..
Great video Scott
The set up looks really nice , just the audio
Note to airlines: Serve chicken and rice when Scott is flying.
Exaaaaactly. 👍🏻
Get a bunch of fabric in the room. Blankets, towels, clothes.... whatever. It will absorb most sound, and you'll get rid of most of the hollow echo.
I don't use Facebook, so will never know what the other bad meal was.
Swiss Air was probably my worse experience
Of all the airlines I have flown, the worst is United. A Swanson's TV dinner tastes better.
KLM airlines has the worst flight & airline food!
I like the setup
BA is a super low cost carrier masquerading as a national airline.
My worst airline meal is Malaysia Airlines Colombo to Kuala Lumpur
The pasta on Spanair is the worst. It's wallpaper paste, and I think that Lufthansa's pasta dish isn't much better, probably prepared in Lufthansa's kitchens. The very best that I've had was chicken a la orange and beef tornados on an Eastern airline flight. The food and service were haute cuisine, I was astounded with the quality.
You need a cloud [acoustic paneling] above your head to take away the echo that is in your video...
You just need to deaden the sound a little bit. Try hanging some clothing on the walls out of view. Love the terminal background. Excellent! For real acoustic effect, get some acoustic absorbing panels. They have conical protrusions.
Thanks Andrew! Yeah, I ordered some acoustic paneling for the walls which I hope will help deaden the sound. It better work, because it wasn’t cheap! 😅
No. 1 inflight rule: Do NOT wait for meal service time before you go to the lavatory.
hands down funniest guy ever
Sibo A Which is not easy to do being from San Diego.
British Airways having the shittiest food... imagine my shock bruh!
Great video Scott! Even though I miss the airline reviews these videos are equally as great to watch!
Thanks Roman! I miss the airline reviews as well. Can’t wait to get back at it!
When the airline food is crap, who's to blame? The airline (i.e. its budgetary policy) or the catering company that prepared the meals?
I still remember worst ever over cooked steak served in BA Club World almost 30 years ago...
I’ve taken virgin atlantic a350-1000 service from JFK to LHR, and the rice and chicken I got was really good (it wasn’t curry)
Ha ha. I always enjoy your self-deprecating humor. Even though you made disclaimers about video quality at the beginning, I didn't notice any faults. My worst meal ever was served on a Northwest flight from LAX to SEA in the early 90s. I had requested a vegetarian meal. For the early-morning breakfast, I was served dried-out white rice with green peas (apparently boiled to death and then broiled - probably to make sure that they were totally dead but not yet quite cremated). Utterly inedible. And as you may know, vegetarian and "special" in airline parlance mean: no dairy, no fat of any kind, no seasoning, no flavor, no dessert, and NO FUN. The FA noticed that I had barely picked at the dish, frowned, and then said sympathetically, "I guess that wasn't very good." A kind understatement. Hey, I'm glad to hear you observe (at about 03:30) that Delta doesn't always deliver. I get kinda sick of Delta loyalists overlooking serious flaws with DL's hard product, including food quality, maintenance of cabin furnishings, and CABIN CLEANLINESS). Unwarranted Delta-love completely baffles me. Thanks for being honest and sharing nitty-gritty disappointments.
Haha, I remember those NW meals well (flew them a lot overseas in the early 2000s). I was a much less experienced traveler back in those days however, and at the time, it was all good. 😄
Never get on a plane hungry.
Scott, you will always be welcome to my part of the UK 🇬🇧 and I will make you my special chicken and rice! 👍
When is the top five meals vlog coming out? I know chicken and rice is going to feature in that one! 👍 😎
Of the major carriers, DELTA has the worse food of all, and certainly during this Covid insanity, the worst overall flying esperience... period.
My trip to London started out like a waking nightmare, the ticket agent telling me to fill out a confusing online Questionnaire that took me 3-hours to finish, with taking no less than THREE of their clueless tickets agents (including one supervisor) to finally get me on board, telling me to "Run!!!" to the gate, which very nearly KILLED ME (I'm 74-years old), when I dropped both my passport AND my wristwatch on the floor on the way, nearly missing my plane by one minute. After thanking God for my deliverance, at least the plane ride was terrific, *because Delta had switched my departure time to ONE DAY EARLIER, to Virgin Atlantic.* I'd never flown Virgin before. Their brand-new Boeing 787 Dreamliner was immaculate, the flight attendants were pretty, kind, and considerate (their sexy red uniforms looked great, and even their English accents were lovely, and the food, excellent. In fact, my stew gave me BOTH choices of dinners since I was so famished, along with complimentary wine not normally served in my economy plus class. Everyone in the plane received over-the-ear headphones and personal blankets and pillows without having to ask for them, and the selection of both music and movies was excellent. I even found three open seat across, so I got to sleep the majority of the way to London. It was the best single airplane trip I had ever experienced... until I had to board an old Delta jet on the way BACK. What an horrific change.
First, after showing all of Delta's pissy security people my US passport TWICE, when I finally handed the man at the door of the plane my boarding pass, he asked to see my passport FOR THE THIRD TIME, when I questioned him about it, he immediately sicced a guard dog in the shape of a big, angry security guard on me, who immediately put me in a separate line for "bad people and senior citizens" when their goons once again went through every single piece of my carry-on luggage, just like they already did in the terminal!!! After this second humiliation, when I finally got on the plane, my flight attendant was so FAT that she barely fit throught the aisle. Not only that, but she was as ugly as a wart hog, but not as ugly as her DEMEANOR. When meal time came, it was like feeding time at the San Diego Zoo. One of the snacks was what they loosely called, their "Margharita Pizza," was a lump of too thick, completely inedible dough, covered with something that resembled some unholy combination of red paint and library paste, then shoved into an aluminum vomit bag. It was the singularly the worst thing I'd ever eaten in my entire LIFE, not even fit for a mangy dog starving in the street. Delta should have been cited for "cruel and inhumane punishment," just for serving this kind of toxic waste. On top of that, Delta's movie and music selections were only HALF that of Virgin's, and everything about the flight was on a par with Kamazazi Airlines.
I will never, ever fly Delta again. For international travel, Virgin rules the airways, hands down.
The BA flight takes its food from US sources so it is what US carriers give. All US carriers serve vomit making food with ill grace and maners
the food on Hawaiian Airlines is so good in first class
Indo Pakistani curries usually look "like" that but taste amazing. Maybe South Asian food is not your thing.
TY Scott we Both appreciate your Humor and Professionalism
You’re very welcome Jack!

How do we contact you in regards to doing a beta test or a review for our game?
Worst airline food...hmm. It appears both Air China and Xiamen use the same provider, so they're equally in the "salty drek" category. Biggest disappointment? Air Asia uses Santan for food service. Santan also has a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, so I expected something better than usual on my two flights with them. Nope! AND don't believe I'll be making reservations at their restaurant next time I'm in Malaysia (er, "when and if!")
