    Jeff,
As a voracious magic book lover/reader/writer, I always enjoy your reviews. I have to say I laughed more on this one than any other. (Offline, would you mind sharing the name of the anonymous off-the-record source you interviewed? I like him.) I enjoyed the entire review, but you had me at the first definition of “prodigious.”
    Keep up the great work!
    Steve
P.S. I feel your pain on the Gamecocks. But we alumni save a lot of money on team-related merchandise (it’s cheaper when your team doesn’t win) and we’ve never had to invest in a championship hat or jersey (so I guess we are winners of a sort) .

Glad you laughed - it seemed only fitting to make it a more humorous review than usual! 😁 Thanks for dropping in👍

I’m also an accountant and magician - glad to know I’m in such great company. I don’t know much about Steve Beam - thanks for this video introducing us to him.

Absolutely - you'll find him as funny and charming as we are as magical accountants! 🤔😉😄

Jeff, what a well-crafted, cleverly-concocted review!!! All the time and effort you put forth in composing this was certainly worthy of Steve's BOOKS (not necessarily Steve). Yes, it's an under-appreciated series, partly due to the lack of a snappy title. This is why early on in the series I urged him to change the title. Suggestions included, but were not limited to: Safe Alternatives to the Bullet-Catching Trick; Slighting the Sleight; Math-based Tricks Easy as Pi; For Card College Drop-Outs; Steve Beam's Daughter's College Fund; Dressing up Your Act: Clothes Up Card Tricks; Tarheel's Tarbell #9; The Royal Road Less Travelled to Card Tricks; Card Tricks for Magicians Who Aren't Manipulative; Card Tricks that Get You Tips - On Other Careers; Semi- and Fully Automatic Card Tricks: A Balanced Beam; More Further Inner Outer Down Under Card Tricks; Sunbeams: Radiant Reflections from Steve; Moonbeams: Assinine Reflections from Steve; A Pack of Pickled Pasteboards: The Drunken Poker Deal and Other Card Tricks; The Creme of Beam's Dream Team Schemes.

If it wasn't for the invention of playing cards, Steve would be driving a truck. We have been friends for decades, plus I contributed to many of these books in one way or another, so naming a favorite is tough. Quadruple Prediction from Volume 1 is wonderful because it keeps you on your toes when performing it. The World's Greatest Magician (from the same volume) has also put a lot of food on the family table...too funny! One of the best things about the series is the introduction-chapters featuring people like Lewis Jones, Ramon Rioboo, and Woody Aragon. Steve introduced them to us long before any of them were well-known within the industry. By the way, Lucky 13 entertains laypeople and hurts magicians.

This was your best review yet! I love these books, but I got a kick out of humor! That was fun and put me in a great mood! Thank you! I got a kick out of the introduction in Marty Kane's book by Steve Beam. When I started reading it he starts ribbing Marty. I was thinking, "I thought they were friends". Then the last paragraph makes it apparent that he was just messing around. I love the humor in these books. Thank you Steve Beam!

@@EruditeMagic I think that all of Steve's work has merit. I think Trapdoor probably gets my nod only because the humor is so good above and over the high quality of the tricks.

I met Steve first on-line in the early days of the Internet on IRC (similar to what today is called Discord). I got to meet him in person at a convention, I think it may have been Abbotts Close Up. He performed Multiple Impact, which all of us in attendance absolutely loved. He was fantastic.
