I put the drill through a bunch of common household tests including drilling holes in wood and metal, driving screws and even a 1/4" lag bolt into a 2x4. I never had luck with those flexible adapters. Was the torque causing it to twist/bend itself?

It does twist when tightening but you can easily hold it in place
