  • 수녀님께서 좌식 기도대가 필요하다고 해서 만들어 드렸습니다
This desk takes its design from traditional Korean furniture of the past. It is called Xi'an. In the old Korean sitting culture, it was used for reading books and sometimes drinking tea.
I made this for a nun because she wanted a small statue that she needed when she prayed.

I like how you address the issue of wood movement in the top. Simple extra steps that will make a huge difference in the future.

Young Je, Good to see you back. Thanks for the video of the excellent and masterful build of this little Korean table. Makes me think of the little Mother of Pearl ones I saw and used so many times in Korea. Are You going to do some mother of pearl now? …haha.
You and I built our own routher table and jig but we still have'nt made any sawdust collection for them,,,haha! I really like the way you put the curve in the sides of that top!! I’m gonna do that now that you showed me a different way of how to do it!
I don’t think I will make the metal table top hold down brackets myself though. Take care my friend!

That was a lot of work, and your use of jigs was very inspiring. Thank you for taking the time to share. Charles

Уважаемый мастер ,, торцевые волокна на ножках всегда направляйте в сторону диагональной ножки,Так боковые волокна всегда будут одинаковые,И при полном кабриоле,Где срез с четырех сторон, волокна будут идти параллельно изгибу

Haven't written or spoken Korean since 1968 so I missed the name of this piece. Well done. Really complicated ends to that top. Not sure about the added performance to work ratio here. But the work of a master instead of a novice, of course.

I build and sand the stuff we ,ake for out house. My wonderful wife does most of the finishing. Like you , we also use minwax poly but we usually wipe it on with a piece of cloth. No we don't use the wipe on poly. Usually 3 or more coats with (with light sanding in between of course). It does take a long time to dry each time but the hard finish is worth it. Are you still spending a lot of ti,e with the Grandkids? I am!
