What a treasure he is. The last active member of "The Alabama Gang." 87 years old and still racing. Unbelievable! A very well deserved honor. He was in the 'copter when Davey died. I remember seeing him interviewed after and how sad he was. He seemed devastated. Once again, what a treasure!
This is a wonderful interview probably my favorite so far. Redsaid it best. It doesn't matter what kind, drag racing, stock cars, bikes, horses, there's something about racing that gets in your blood and never leaves you. For me its horses and though I've been out of it for 5 years now I think about it all the time. It gets in your blood and without it every day the one thing I know is I'm not winning a race any time soon.
Congratulations to Dale Jr and Red. I was once honored to race Red in Cottonwood Alabama back 20 years ago, I had the faster car but Red still won the race, at the end of the night I helped him load his car and he signed me a diecast. I didn't win but it was a perfect race night.
My mother went to Miami Edison High School with Red. She just recently passed but would have gotten a kick out of Red making to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Had the pleasure of watching Red, and the Allison’s race at Palm Beach Fairgrounds Speedway in the late 60’s. They would come and run the Orange Blossom 100. Great times, great racers, thanks for the memories. Another great track gone along with Hialeah Speedway,
I took my 2 small children to Ace High dirt track in Monroten PA to watch Red race a event. He talked with my kids and I for at least an hour while sitting on tailgate of my truck. What a story teller and historian. himself. Will always remember he was flown in by helicopter at last minute and a local team had donated a car for him to drive. Ran up Stifront all night I think he finished 2nd, and to this day I think he laid down a little on purpose out of respect to the locals. I think it was around 2003 0r 2004. He sure liked looking at the pretty woman ,and always had something nice and polite to say about there appearance. Still have multiple autographed items from that night.
This my favorite interview bc i love in NC but eas born in Alabama and loved in foresthills and my relitives lived from dolamite to hueytown to the the warrior river so the Allisons and the Bonnets were friends of my daddy and especially Red Farmer(F-97) as i grew up every Friday night at the BIR and visiting Kiddyland and many state fairs with Farion Young to the Chitwoods stunt show to watching my cusion sing on the Country Boy Eddie Show! So thank you for bringing back all those memories guys, but one more thing I don’t remember Mike Davis but would love to talk to him sometimes , I know we have crossed paths ❣️
♥ A M A Z I N G ♥ that's about as real and raw of an interview you will ever see. Red has never worked a day in his life, and he's a life lesson to us all! Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life.
This guy raced back when the Modified Series didn't exist yet and the Sportsman Series which was he pre-cursor to the Busch Series now. Red Farmer is a pioneer because he won three Sportsman Series titles from 1969-71 and in 1956 Modified Champion, and Red did so well in those lower series he didn't see the need to move up like his contemporaries. What's also staggering is that records for the series he competed in, weren't kept as closely as they are today and often gets overlooked. I'm super happy that Red Farmer gets recognized as a Hall of Famer.
Was fortunate enough to race against Red in the crate late model class a few times about 10 years ago at Talladega. Still a tough, fierce competitor today and even then. Red Farmer is a legend in auto racing and I couldn't be more excited for him to finally become inducted. Just take a moment to step back and think about what racing and the cars were like back in 48 compared to today. He's seen and done it all.
I met red a few times at billy bobs in Daytona every time he would stand there a talk to me like he knew me for a long time nicest man you want to meet !
Wondering how many miles laps Red has including practice times . Red is like that dam bunny keeps going and going. Having a good time and loving what you do is what counts most.
Hershell McGriff should be on soon. He has been racing since 1946 i believe. He also raced in the first NASCAR race and i think he still races sporadically
Very proud of you dale, to be inducted with two of the best drivers in any series in nascar is an amazing thing. You're not even done yet either, you and jeff burton make a great team over at NBC sports. I think I have a rare diecast of one of your fathers cars I gotta dig it up and send you some pictures of it!
Red doesn't really look much older than he did back in the 1990's! This guy is the circle track version of Chris Karamesines. He just keeps on doing his thing. What a cool guy! This guy could tell stories and share racing experiences that would fill entire volumes. And I could sit and listen to him all day. Red is still as sharp as a tack and I hope he continues being involved with racing for a long time to come.
Need to get Glen Shepard on. Glen used to work on the motors for Red, and the Alabama Gang. I used to take our blocks over to him to get them bored and decked. Man had the greatest stories, oh and he would hand you a basket and some how have you out there picking vegetables out of his garden while telling you those stories. He has some great cheating stories lol
Yes, he did.. There’s a video where a bunch of racers are together telling stories & Bobby Allison told it when he was 16 he started hanging around Reds race shop down there..
Red farmer is one tough son of a gun and a legend oh and by the way that sorry POS Larry Langford had BIR tore down all the legends had raced on that track damn shame !!
Kind of an inappropriate question given the context of this interview. It's about celebrating his career and longevity. Also an old timer with no filter might not give the most PC answer...
Yeah man, Red is way bigger then the bs that went down, congratulations to Red for holding the wheel this long, and Still the heavyweight champion of the world,,,,,,,,,,,,, rrrr RED FARMER!!!!!!!!!
I have nothing good to say about someone that works for NBC and doesn't need the MONEY, i know PEOPLE that went to COLLEGE for that stuff and no jobs to have, DIDN'T RACE or play the game. PEOPLE just care that the ANNOUNCER knows there stuff.
If you are racing for this long, you are a GOAT! Congrats to Red on being in the HOF!
Smiles come hard these days, but your shows never fail to give me one. Stay safe and healthy.
Oh for real? Man, that's quite something.
Man, Jr's such a good lad, and Red was such a sport. Gotta squeeze the details from the past, because people don't last forever.
This is a wonderful interview probably my favorite so far.

That was such a cool interview. Dude had to get his car ready for Saturday. Respect.
So very happy to see Red in the HOF. An absolute legend!
Dale, Red is the real thing! A legend in his own time! Congratulations Red!💫
Congratulations to Dale Jr and Red. I was once honored to race Red in Cottonwood Alabama back 20 years ago, I had the faster car but Red still won the race, at the end of the night I helped him load his car and he signed me a diecast. I didn't win but it was a perfect race night.
I'm so proud of Junior and this was such a good interview with red great job can't wait what a year is going to be
Now there was an historical moment in NASCAR Racing History!!! Thank you JR for sharing that with us! I can’t wait to see the induction ceremony!!!
I love how Long-Lewis Ford still sponsors him after 60 years.
87 and still working on his car and gettin' up on the wheel!!!....incredible!
Red Farmer is the man,I remember meeting him when I was a kid, things like that stick with you through the years.Congrats.Mr.Charles Red Farmer.
My mother went to Miami Edison High School with Red. She just recently passed but would have gotten a kick out of Red making to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Awesome seeing Red again and Fantastic he and JR are being inducted to the Hall of Fame.
He absolutely should be in the HOF ....its about Time.....well deserved...congratulations Red....
This makes the 10th Motorsports HOF for him. He's deserves the presidental medal of freedom award.

My wife and I were in Clifford Allison's pit at Michigan when he lost his life. Red Farmer was there as well. Sad day.
Saw him at howtons fish camp on thw warrior river as a kid with a cowboy hat and he was old then , 25 years ago
Hershell McGriff should be on soon. He has been racing since 1946 i believe. He also raced in the first NASCAR race and i think he still races sporadically
LOVE THIS!!! Thank You!!! Sincerely
Congrats on joining the hall👍

@Ross are those posted online ?
Get to see him Saturday night in the 6O4 late model race. Lucas Oil SLM are going to be in town also. I’m pumped,.
Need to get Glen Shepard on. Glen used to work on the motors for Red, and the Alabama Gang. I used to take our blocks over to him to get them bored and decked. Looking like Christmas in reds house 😄👀
Still great interview nonetheless!
Pensacola in the house
Red farmer is one tough son of a gun and a legend oh and by the way that sorry POS Larry Langford had BIR tore down all the legends had raced on that track damn shame !!
Just google how many wins red farmer has.... thank me later....
Ask Red if he ever witnessed Nascar become such a tool like this past week!
He's no longer with NASCAR. Except for his Hof interviews he does
He said in the beginning of the interview he had been "with Nascar" for 68 years.
Dont put a handle on the rope, people will think it's an upside down cross..lmao..smh..
Should have asked him what he thinks of the politicalization of NASCAR. You know garage door strings and pull handles. Lol
This interview took place a couple of hours before the news of the hoax came out.

Lil Wayne guitar teacher, no he wasn't, I said that because he still races , kinda like still king of the world type of thing, lol

Red is a cheap person
