4:58 To get to the truck in Gen1 you don't avoid the SS Anne, you board it, get cut from the captain then faint on board, sending you back to the Pokemon centre and leaving the ship docked. Then you can get surf and come back.
What's funny is I bet they could just rework the game corners to be arcades and not have to worry as much

I've been saying this for years just turn the game corrnor into a modern arcade with games like wack a mole and fruit ninja or berry in pokemon's case. Then awared points based on your scored that you can turn in for prizes. There you go problem solved.

Ah, yes, the truck. My brother and I fell for that back in the day, and we went out of our way several times (be it trading over a Pokemon with Cut or intentionally losing a fight on the SS Anne after getting HM01) to get there.
I don't know if this would fall under specifically Kanto or Gen 1, but I realized this is the only generation that Legendaries are never directly mentioned nor have any bearing on the plot. Sure, they're alluded to (seeing Articuno from binoculars, journal entries referencing Mew and Mewtwo in the Cinnabar Mansion), but never once does a "cutscene" trigger where an NPC says, "The Pokemon [name] is a thing of legends! [provides info]."
"But McSoy, you person you!" you exclaim. "It wasn't until RSE that legendaries became part of the main plot lines!". Well, sorta. While Gold and Silver also alluded to the Beasts and Birds, Crystal version forces you into Burned Tower, where Eusine gushes about Suicune, and then Suicune takes notice of you.
Come to think of it, I honestly wouldn't mind having a main game where the legendaries _aren't_ a part of the plot again.
There's a Bird Keeper on Route 14, I believe it is, who specifically states that the "Legendary Pokémon are all birds of prey"! It's in the last Part 8 of my Blue Version Prof Oak Challenge which is on my very Channel!

I really love Kanto (it's one of my favorite regions)! Pokemom started out of Kanto and to this day, I still can't explain the joy I can feel when hearing the Route 1 music. It feels so much like an adventure!

Fun fact: In Red, Blue, Yellow, FireRed and LeafGreen the “Mew Truck” is actually just a bunch of map tiles arranged in the shape of a truck but in Let’s Go it’s an actual truck 3D model!

I know I'm hella late, and soneone else may have said it here, but at 6:20, the USUM Kanto gym isn't the first time we hear the term "Kantonian." It's first seen in SuMo when talking about the player character's mother's Meowth, I believe
Fun fact the Anime Deathnote is also set in Japan more specifically it is set in Kanto, I know this has nothing to do with Pokemon but I thought it was nice to know

That's fake, it was added by someone who dumped the ROM.
@@AnimeFreak09 modern emulators can emulate games without the games being able to detect they're being pirated, so it wouldn't work either way. You'd need to use a very, very old emulator.

I swear everytime a pokemon game releases, those online news outlets make pokemon content just to be relevant.
The reason for potions omission in the first town was because they are strong early on, however early in development you could purchase and sell Pokemon from the PokéMart. Also early on in development when you lost a match the winner would take half your team so if you had six it would take three with no way of getting them back
To get to the truck I would always get the cut HM and then black out against trainers nearby. The SS Anne would stay in harbor as long as you didn't enter and leave the ship again, so you could still come back later with surf and go check out the truck.
There should be more unnoficial gyms where you get extra shiny trinkets
Great video! I like the fact that pokemon games are all based on real-world locations, it's very interesting to see these references.
I believe the names of the regions may have some sort of reference to the real-world counterparts? Such as Alola is definitely a clear reference to a common Hawaiian word "Aloha", which is a word they use to greet people.
Yeah, Alola is a reference to the word Aloha. What I really meant was that besides Kanto, the other region names don't really sound like what they are based on in English
@@PaPaSea I believe the region names of gen2~4 are all based on Japanese, since they all can be written in Japanese Kanji. Jhoto is referncing the old cities layout of it's real world counter part which is the Kansai region of Japan. I've looked up Hoenn and Shinnoh, these two basically don't directly reference the real world counterparts. Hoenn basically means "abundant relations", and Shinnoh means "Mysteries of gods", no wonder the pokemon god is from Shinnoh.
@@hhjan594 Sinnoh is based on Hokkaido for sure (compare maps of the two, they look very similar) and I *think* Hoenn is supposed to be Kyushu, in southern Japan

IIRC every town in Kanto (as well as in the other games too) is based on a real life city, not just Saffron and Celadon. I believe Vermilion is Yokohama due to the harbor. Ecruteak is Kyoto (traditional Japanese city), Hau'oli is Honolulu (biggest city in Hawaii) and so on and so forth.
They are, I wasn’t trying to say that Saffron and Celadon are the only places based on real areas of Kanto
4:30 lmao Shinjuku and Tokyo are “relatively close to each other”? Shinjuku is a part of Tokyo - that’s like saying Manhattan is relatively close to New York.
The auto generated captions call it the cancer region which makes sense depending how you feel about gen 1.

Is the truck in red and blue the only truck in the game? There's also a revive near it in the Let's Go games. Good to relive nostalgia, Silver and Gold, after completing the main quest, was such a surprise to me when I had the chance to revist Kanto and see the differences that had taken place over time.
I didn't know about the revive being in the truck in let's go. As for the truck in red and blue being the only truck I'm pretty sure it is. Strange how the only use of it would normally go unseen though

I don't think 'throw the game' means literally chucking your gameboy across the room, throw the game is a figure of speech meaning purposely losing to end a task quicker because you don't see a way to win ( which is generally considered bad sportsmanship because it takes away the feeling of accomplishment from the person winning ). This would be like just walking your horse for the rest of the race because you started at the back of the pack lol
00:07:00 Actually I think the name "Kanto" was not mentioned in the animé untill the Hoenn arc.
That arc was also the first time that "Normal Type" and "Dark Type" were ever mentioned by name.

It'd be neat if they decided to make the fighting gym and psychic club as a different universe counterpart in the next gen 1 remake that comes out
The Karate King lives at Mt Mortar which is a cave in the Johto games, he gives you a tyrogue to get either Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan if you beat him which is a pretty cool surprise
or a hitmontop if you manage to keep the tyrogues attack and defense stats at the same level unit it reaches the evolution level

If I recall right in Pokémon Yellow if you look in the trees of the park area to the east of vermillion before you get to silence bridge one of the random trees has an escape rope in it. Just a little dark easter egg O remember finding

1 weird fact about kanto that I hate is that even though team rocket eventually disbands in the kanto main series games team rocket never disbands in the anime and are still relevant in the anime to this very day.

Yes, but how many people would understand what he meant? Demonym isn't a word that's in a lot of people's vocab so it's better he just explained what he meant instead of making it so anyone who doesn't know that word wouldn't get it.
If he said “Oh btw, the demonym for someone or something from Kanto is “Kantonian”, I think a lot of people would’ve understood what he meant, plus they’d learn a new word if they didn’t already know the word. Context clues.

it always bothered me that vermilion city is named after a red color, but is home to the electric gym and has a yellow color pallet in gen 1

I never even thought about that. I recently set up a false swipe user in Sword and Shield to catch pokemon and used a Gallade. I think it's the best option in Sword and Shield, and possibly even other games, since it's the only Pokemon in Sword and Shield with False Swipe and Hypnosis
@@PaPaSea but there is such more to the false swipe users like inlicting status durability immunities abilities that help out like scrappy on Pangoro he can false swipe literally anything has acces to bulk up and with careful or sassy nature and investment in hp and sp def can be really bulky and hit really strong
There is technician that boost false swipe power breloom can learn it spore and bulk up at the same time as well synthesis
But false swipe also goes well with scyther and scizor both if them have different immunities there is galade as well there is lots of pokemon that do complement false swipe one way or another its a huge topic and pokemon like that always can help the team in differen ways as well some can lear sweet scent some thief

I've only played through XY twice, and one time I played through about half before putting it down. As for my favorite gen it's gen 4, and I've played through gen 4 at least 6 times that I can remember
@@PaPaSea Honestly nowdays restarted and play all time gen 4 on my phone having all generetions .I realy want to see new generetions what difrenses have than older .Because older gens i was spending ouhrs and playing alone not shiny hunting just all time restarting the game and compliting it over and over again until i get bored with theme and until now i can t bored them

No. The fighting gym is an official gym. Pretty sure the dude says something like "Instead of taking our emblem as a symbol of your victory, you can choose one of these two Pokémon."
I know Blaine's questionnaire even says there are only 8, (with 9 being the wrong answer) but if that wording above is remembered correctly, it is an official gym.

I enjoy the S.S Anne (yes it was called that but, changed to St. Anne cuz S.S was the name for the nazis). I thought Looker was in Gen I but, i guess not.
I am 20 and I'm in college for Mechanical Engineering. I got a 34 on my ACT and a 1491 on my Sat. Currently I an A student in a major college.
I say all this, to tell you that I had NO clue that pewter, vermillion, celadon, cerulean, OR viridian was a color. Didn't know anyone of those. I'm an idiot

Most Mega Pokemon from XY are from Kanto, only Kanto Pokemon got Alolan forms and even the Gigantamac forms are mostly from Kanto. I cant even...
