I wish we had information on minors. I want to get into Bolt Action for 3rd and am torn between Italy and Japan. The thing holding me back from Italy is the terrible "Avanti Savoia!" negative special rule.
As a Japanese player I'm interested to see how we'll adapt to 3rd edition. Melee is no longer as one sided and that's a blow to Japan. I could see a shift more to the many weapons a Japanese infantry squad can bring. A Japanese grenadier squad can bring up to 3 light mortars. It would be an expensive strategy but with how HE works it could be viable.
As a player of Germans I'm well happy as machine guns are back. Busy building units that I never used to take (Light Mortar I now have 2) as they have a place in Version 3.
as a japanese player its a pitty how now this army is . They nerf the fanatic rule, they change the combats and now de defender have alot more chance. i spect tanks will be cheaper because they are a shit for the points cost. and now all the artillery howitzers are more expensive . So all thinks are bad for japs.. I spect in future qhen they release the book they make a changes because now in v3 they look obsolete
I am about to start Bolt Action. I chose British. I do not know a whole lot about the game, but from what I gather, the Brits were often running squads with rifles only because of that extra dice. Such a rule discourages you from taking other weapons to the section, and especially Bren, as LMG was an essential section-level weapon and, from what I know, a well liked one to boot. Instead, we have some mythical mad minute nonsense for which soldiers did not even have ammo to perform. I would like to see the reaction of the infantry section that heard that they are taking their Bren from them, but they can keep the ammunition and mad minuting with it instead...
people are sleeping on this dual hmg squad :). after being sad about all changes V3 did to my japanese I think these HMG squads and knee mortar infantry squads combo is gonna be fun :😀. also adding extra crew to fanatic artillery is something people sleep on too it seems with the japanese

Thank you for the Video. I have started watching your channel as I get excited about V3! I hope you will do army faction breakdown videos covering units, strats, list styles etc. As a newer player I could use it. I play soviets and the new rules really dont do much for me as I tend not to use inexperienced units. Thanks for the heads up Mordian! Hope they let you put out the rules for the Late War Free French, would like to know what they got since I know they will lose their access to free French Resistance fighters.
Any spotter or artillery observer can call in any indirect fire weapon on the table. Can they call in more than one weapon, can they call in fire on more than one target. The V3 like V2 doesn't really address batteries of the same weapons located together all being directed to fire at one target. Off table artillery barrage does.
I'm disappointed in the changes. The US and Germans clearly got all the love as they sound really tasty. The Japanese got some fair changes and the Soviets seemed to lose out by losing their free Conscripts and "gaining" a boost to ONLY Inexperienced troops... But the British seem like they got shafted! Sure the Artillery Observers get a second shot, IF they survive long enough to see the first land, but the list to pick from is average at best. With the changes to melee taking away the advantage from attacking units, having three of the five choices all melee focused seems just bad. I get that in certain circumstances they may work well but when the other Nationalities have blanket rules that effect the whole army for the whole game it just seems very unbalanced
Awe yeah Bolt Action fix for the day! and its a good one!!!! Does that mean that my brandonbergers dont get to give them a -1 for coming on (That is a morale modifier?)

Also not sure about losing modifiers for range, cover and small teams but the new pinning looks good (wondering if assaulting a pinned unit in hand to hand is a benefit or just swingy like it is now).
The real issue going into 3rd for IJA is the fact that grenadiers aren’t in the book. So we get nerfed into the ground, and don’t get the benefit of the one buff that really would have helped(light mortars are 36” range now)
