Haha this man is a personality! I don't think handlebar moustaches were a thing back then although I did see a few around. Nowadays, you have Deathgrip wax and very strong hold waxes to help with this kind of style which is really great.
Stache looks great, started to grow one since Nov, my first so definitely learned a lot from the video. Just ordered some wax, excited to take my mustache game to the next level!
I recently decided to try and start to grow and properly groom my stache... I started with your video after being gifted some wax for the holiday and I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
Beautiful mustache! I stopped trying to get the curl due to my hairs growing in so many different directions. I started keeping them really thin and long, stinking out as far as I could grow them. Fisticuffs by Grave before Shave is the best wax I have found. Malleable and last all day.
must admit your vid is one of the best iv seen on this subject. only just getting into a stache and at the awkward stage of if it dont come to shape its coming off lol. nah im gonna keep working on it now ive watched this. cheers for your hints.
Some GREAT tips, thanks Tim. I also find wax doesn't hold my moustache, and I soon get a tacky top lip, and gave been using ultra hold hairspray into my fingers then applying for a few months.... However, your innovation of a hairspray shield is PERFECT..... Just made myself one, and already it's making life easier. Thanks
Hey @Tim Hall... this is me now... Ive been styling your way ever since...! 😁👍🏼 drive.google.com/file/d/13HaiIo2Ijc_UCrNGOE53z-lUiV7fOTCQ/view?usp=drivesdk
Sam Elliott has the most impressive, jaw dropping moustache of all time! I think Sam Elliott taught Tom Selleck how to grow a moustache. Lol Tom Selleck is definitely a close number two for me though. There are a few movies where Sam Elliott and Tom Selleck play brothers and I felt unworthy to witness such moustacheful beauty, the two gods of the moustache both on screen together. Lol But seriously, look up Sam Elliott, you may have a new idol. ;) Thanks for the video! The little gadget is brilliant. :)
Thank you so much for the tips! I've had mine for just over 2 years now, and I am still figuring out the perfect way to style the curl, it's not easy. Thanks for the tip, I'll try the hairspray and see how that works. It's funny how clever we get when it comes to styling our mustache, even my hair stylist girlfriend laughs at me. Thanks for the video! Congrats on the job!
Why is this so entertaining to watch haha.. ...like I don't even have a moustache... I'm female and all but if I was a guy I would totally try to rock this look, it looks totally awesome x)
I loved your vid. I've tried curling the end with wax but it wouldn't stay. Now it know the secret. I have a full beard I plan to shave it soon. I'll keep my stash and try this trick. Oh, Tom Selleck and Elliot.
You're video helped me so much. It took a few months but I'm finally satisfied with my moustache. I tried the hairspray wasn't for me but found a nice natural wax that lasts the day and smells great. Thanks Tim
So many thanks for the tutorial. YOU have shown us so much. The hair-spray and box-board is together a wonder of an idea for grooming. My handlebar does not grow symmetrical, as is usual. YOUR video is NOT ridiculous. You show us how us how to groom the non-symmetrical curls. Thanks, with cheers!!!
The job was mine as soon as they saw the mo! It's a great ice breaker and shows personality.... Great for marketing! I'm glad to hear you're joining our ranks and growing a lip warmer.
Great info. Thanks for sharing. 1 thing I learned in the military was this. "If it's stupid, but it works, then it ain't stupid." I'm talking about your device that you made. Very good.
Duuuude I'm freaking out, you look just like me. Except I have acne scars from hell, my hair isn't as curly, and I don't have much a moustache... At all. xD
I just grew my beard out for a few months and decided to go for the old timey mustache when I trimmed my beard down. Wasn't sure if I was doing the right stuff to maintain it, but this video really helped. Thanks a lot man! Everybody just keeps with the wax, but that hair spray bit was awesome. Kind of thought about it before but didn't follow through.
Iv been growing a mustache for a couple of months now and I just have to say it's a life style Lol I really love it and I actually use ur cardboard trick so Thank u for that little tip
Excellent video, thanks so much for taking the time. I'm going to do one of these for my Movember team and really had absolutely no idea where to start, but now I'm good to go. Thanks a bunch!
I dissagree. It depends on a few things though, like industry or type of job, but I've got every job I've interviewed for with it. In fact, it helped me. Great talking point, ice breaker and shows personality. Perfect for marketing.
Jimmy Darmody If you're walking into an interview not knowing what you can and can't look like then yeah, I'd agree, it's a gamble lol... but for the most part, people know the industry they're in. "You definitely take a gamble," is a bold statement. Are you definitely taking a gamble if you're trying to get an apprenticeship at a tattoo parlor? The times they are a changing...
Tim Hall especially marketing - as an ex-marketing professional, the whole industry is full of hipsters! Going in WITHOUT a moustache is a gamble!!! :P
Solid mate. Solid. Congrats on the job too. And pausing that video to see the hidden frame on Tom was a process xD Excellent video for learning how to grow out a handle bar. Thank you sir.
How lucky am I too find your vid . absolutely life saving suggestions, Ive just started to grow a mustache a month ago and its getting to a point where its thick and I'm curling it with hairspray , but that cardboard trick awesome Mann .. Great vid.
For the first two or three months of growing a moustache, I got nothing but people hating on it! But after that, everyone loves it! I think your 'stache is fine for a job interview- it will probably actually work in your favor by giving them something extra to remember you by....
Holy cow I love your accent! I hope your job interview was a success. Oh and by the way - my favorite person with mustache was Hercule Poirot as portrayed by David Suchet. :})
Just keep it growing! It may take a month or two before it's at a decent length, especially if you want to curl it, then it may take even longer. I'm 18 and I've been growing it for 85 days so far and it didn't get to the point where i can curl it like in this video until around day 60. Don't lose hope!
Thanks for this helpful advice. I have to trim a Edwardian moustache for a part in a play. This will come in handy. I've had problems with wax in the past. I never thought of hairspray! Brilliant!
Yeah, I could imagine wax not holding it's shape under the hot stage lights either. Back stage when you're hair is being sprayed, just take a moment and curl up your mo with it. That should work :) What's the play? And what part? I love theatre! But sadly haven't had time to act in a few years.
Ok, your video inspired me to try it! Re the hairspray: Q1: Do you do this every day? Q2: How long does the whole process take? Q3: Is it important to apply the hairspray after a shower/when hair is softer? Q4: Do you wash it out every night? How? I found water wasn't enough, and had to use soap. Q5: Cardboard aside, isn't it bad to spray hairspray towards your face? Q6: Isn't there a chance that the hairspray chemical might get on your lips, and into your mouth?
I had the exact same idea (using a piece of cardboard), but always thought "Gee, that's ridicolous, that must go easier"...anyway, I never found something else, that was working so good. Nice video.
Great video! I also found that a wax couldn't hold up a long lasting and symmetrical handlebar. I've just put up a video this week showing how I style my handlebar, maybe it will work for you.
Your stash looks cool and well groomed. I think you should grow a long strip right down the middle, starting from under the lip and continuing to hang below the chin. Make it a musketeer goatee!
I used to have an handlebar moustache.. just 5 mins ago before I thought I needed a little trim... Thanks for your video anyway, now I think I can save them next time.
great video man! loved it. i had my stache grown out for a lil bit but never got around to waxing/shaping it so i trimmed the sides. good music too. i love Basement Jaxx. also i dont get why people accosiate mustaches with being creepy and i honestly hate it when they do. i always ask them why but nobody has given me a good answer.
Well done. I have a handle as well and have found that even certain waxes will work for a bit, then I have to use a different brand. Fisticuffs works awesome now. Nice tips on the tips! Grow on! Cheech had a killer stache!
Hey Tim, great video. I enjoyed it and learned somethings. Looking to grow out and curl my moustache and keep my Goatee as well. Guess I'll be adjusting my "friends" as well. Good stuff! Oh and congrats on the new job.
If you"re gonna do that, use hair curler's small enough for a moustache. Likw what is used for doing a perm. I prefer beard oil + mustache wax on the mustache where you curl it.
So my husband and I love your mustache and this video really helped us out, THANK YOU!! I also just wanted to let you know that you need to perfect that little cardboard mustache invention because I really thought you bought it lol I would totally buy it for my husband, so you know!! lol
Props man. Been growin out my stache for about 4 months now and just started doing the hairspray a couple weeks ago. usually ill do a light layer of clubman neutral wax before to get the shape and then spray it with some hairspray.
Tim Hall. Tim Hall now officially has my favourite moustache in the world. Here in Straya the best hairspray to use is Tresemme Freeze Hold. Might as well be spray glue. ;) Are you still rocking the locks?
In all my years I will never love a woman the way this man loves his mustache.
My friend, you understand me!
LOL
@Julio Diaz I mean I have a full beard with moustache and have had it for most of my adult life if that counts?

I don't think handlebar moustaches were a thing back then although I did see a few around.
Nowadays, you have Deathgrip wax and very strong hold waxes to help with this kind of style which is really great.
Totally, there are new and better products for sure. But I’m still a fan of hair spray 😎
Stache looks great, started to grow one since Nov, my first so definitely learned a lot from the video. Just ordered some wax, excited to take my mustache game to the next level!

Mattelo Fitness I was about to post the same 😂😂 but I read your comment. It’s a fact!
My dad’s handle bars have rocking it for as long as I can remember. Now, I’m set to follow in his footsteps.
Rockabillygoaty good luck then mate. I hope it came into it’s full glory 🙌
Some GREAT tips, thanks Tim. I also find wax doesn't hold my moustache, and I soon get a tacky top lip, and gave been using ultra hold hairspray into my fingers then applying for a few months.... Been growing my full beard/mustache for almost a year. Going to use this as a tutorial to give myself a badass mustache. Thank you, sir!
+Ryland Spencer You're most welcome!
Great video! Daniel Day Lewis' would be my fave mustache I believe.
nice tutorial. I give you props for making a video before a interview, because that is such a hassle.
From one stache to another- nice tutorial! Stick glue is always a way to go as well. Cheers!
Stephen IV I’ve never tired stick glue. I’ll have to give it a crack. Thanks man.
Sam Elliott has the most impressive, jaw dropping moustache of all time! I think Sam Elliott taught Tom Selleck how to grow a moustache. Sam Elliott most definitely. That stashe is so powerful when he speaks through it the world's manliest voice comes out!
Thank you so much for the tips! I've had mine for just over 2 years now, and I am still figuring out the perfect way to style the curl, it's not easy. Thanks for the tip, I'll try the hairspray and see how that works. It's funny how clever we get when it comes to styling our mustache, even my hair stylist girlfriend laughs at me. ...like I don't even have a moustache...
Thanks Tim

Cardboard handeled hair spray face blocker...Fucking brilliant.

Fricken genius!!! Thanks for the tips man!

Great info. Thanks for sharing. 1 thing I learned in the military was this. "If it's stupid, but it works, then it ain't stupid." I'm talking about your device that you made. Very good.

I just grew my beard out for a few months and decided to go for the old timey mustache when I trimmed my beard down. Did you get the job?
Also, Freddie Mercury.
Freddie's is fantastic! I got the job.... But left a few months later.... Wasn't for me. Advertising is full of wankers! :)

This is awesome. Your mustache is practically perfect. I'm very jealous. I am working on my mustache now. Brilliant my friend, brilliant
Very bad idea to go with a mustache like this to a job interview.
I dissagree. It depends on a few things though, like industry or type of job, but I've got every job I've interviewed for with it. In fact, it helped me. Great talking point, ice breaker and shows personality. Perfect for marketing.
Tim Hall Well good for you but still, you definitely take a gamble. Personally I wouldn't risk it.Once you get a job, u can do whatever u want.
Aaron Adams He said he studied marketing so obviously I meant an office job man.
Tim Hall especially marketing - as an ex-marketing professional, the whole industry is full of hipsters! Going in WITHOUT a moustache is a gamble!!! :P
May I suggest that you buy Shellac Flakes and mix them with Bio-Ethanol to use to fix that Moustache in place. Hairspray is/was made from Shellac. 👍
Alexander Foster great idea 🙏
Rolling fingers moustaches are badass
Solid mate. Solid. Congrats on the job too. And pausing that video to see the hidden frame on Tom was a process xD
Excellent video for learning how to grow out a handle bar. Thank you sir.

Thumbs up for playing Queen in the background! Thanks for the cool info!
Breeze700 Gotta love Queen :)
lol never thought I'd watch a 12 min video of a guy grooming his moustache. Legit perfect tho
After about 3 months there was a notisable curl. Keep going man! No guts no glory!
This is the ultimate guide and it's fantastic. Thanks and I hope you got the job.
Thanks for the video; the moustache is terrific, and I really appreciated the hairspray tip.
That is a sick moustache man, serious envy here! Now I just have to put some effort in and try to curl mine :D
Holy cow I love your accent! I hope your job interview was a success. Oh and by the way - my favorite person with mustache was Hercule Poirot as portrayed by David Suchet. :})
+Alexey Danilov Thaks, I forget I have an accent. Man I love that show! Big fan
+Tim Hall :-D :-D :-D :-D
Great video. Thank you for sharing. Congrats on the job! And love the emotion behind the video. Well done
No Ones Hero thanks :) appreciate it
Just keep it growing! It may take a month or two before it's at a decent length, especially if you want to curl it, then it may take even longer. I'm 18 and I've been growing it for 85 days so far and it didn't get to the point where i can curl it like in this video until around day 60. Don't lose hope!
It's not what you look like. It's what you can produce. . And BTW your mustache looks great and darn near perfect to me
Thanks for this helpful advice.
That should work :)
What's the play? And what part?
I love theatre! But sadly haven't had time to act in a few years.
Tim Hall The play is "Jack Straw," a comedy by Somerset Maugham. I play the part of an English lord, Lord Serlo. It's set around 1905.
Ok, your video inspired me to try it! Re the hairspray:
Q1: Do you do this every day?
Q2: How long does the whole process take?
Q3: Is it important to apply the hairspray after a shower/when hair is softer?
Q4: Do you wash it out every night? How? I found water wasn't enough, and had to use soap.
Q5: Cardboard aside, isn't it bad to spray hairspray towards your face?
Q6: Isn't there a chance that the hairspray chemical might get on your lips, and into your mouth?
Awesome video sir. I like you down to Earth attitude and your accent.
my favorite person with moustache is Diego velasquez

I had the exact same idea (using a piece of cardboard), but always thought "Gee, that's ridicolous, that must go easier"...anyway, I never found something else, that was working so good. Nice video.
Great video! I also found that a wax couldn't hold up a long lasting and symmetrical handlebar. I've just put up a video this week showing how I style my handlebar, maybe it will work for you.

Your stash looks cool and well groomed. I think you should grow a long strip right down the middle, starting from under the lip and continuing to hang below the chin. Make it a musketeer goatee!
Masterly done my dear fellow
I used to have an handlebar moustache.. just 5 mins ago before I thought I needed a little trim... Thanks for your video anyway, now I think I can save them next time.
Damn, you've got that down to a science!!

Thanks for the video. You're a cool dude!
From a long time beard grower, to a new moustache lover.
great attitude on the mustache way of life...thanks for the tips. I would have never thought about hairspray...
That is an epic Mo. The middle part of the lip is WAY longer than mine! So great.
Great video. Your mustache is on point! My favorite person with a mustache is Rollie Fingers. (Baseball Player from the 70's)
Thumbs up for creativity.
Bro, the hairspray idea was great. Didn't think about that. It's helping mine a bunch, it's cheap it's sticky, and it stays for a long time.
+WeCameAsWolves Mate, so pleased it worked for you!
Great video, thanks for posting. Great look as well. Congrats on the job!
Carl Z thanks mate, sadly I've shaved it now. But it's already growing back. I can't help myself.

Here in Straya the best hairspray to use is Tresemme Freeze Hold. Might as well be spray glue. ;)
