      I've been running 30lbs boost(stock is 15-17lbs) pulling a trailer in the desert for over 10 years on the most used, most well proven, best deisel ever put in a light truck(the 7.3 is a Navistar & is in almost every "International" wrecker & school bus built for 20 years) & it has 230,000 miles on it & uses less than a quart of oil in 7,000 miles. It's a 1 ton 4x4 that gets 17 mpg without the trailer & 12-13 with the trailer. It's definitely NOT a dinosaur & it will still be running when the 6.0s, 6.3s, Dura Max's & Cummins have all been worn out & scrapped!

      @@BuzzLOLOL There is no such thing as a 450hp cam or any other mythical magical device. HP is the combination of ALL the components & all must be matched properly. BIG cams are usually detrimental to low compression engines & little cams usually cause detonation in high compression engines. The heads in an engine, like the heart of a race horse, are the main deciding factor. A good set of heads will make more power, regardless of cam, than junk heads!

      It’s an iron block 6.0L.
      Specs are almost irrelevant. It’s 6.0L of displacement at 30psi (2bar) so the twin turbskis are doing all the work. They already said it was a stock bottom end, so if it will actually hold together you don’t really need special parts.

    Nice to see doing something besides an LS or small block Chevy it's awesome although the engine's out of the vehicle why are you not throwing a cam in there that stock piece is a dinky little unit. you know it's super easy to give an intercooler it's on water source you don't have to run it through the coolant system of the engine that just seems dumb all you need to add is a cheap heat exchanger and pump you can do that for like a little over 100 bucks if you want to go super cheap when I made my own kit for my 2011 mustang I went to CX racing and I think I paid a hundred bucks for a decent size liquid intercooler and it was also 100 bucks for the heat exchanger and 50 bucks for their pump although I went through three pumps over 3 years so I wouldn't suggest using cx racing's pump I would use like the Bosch one or something that came on a stock OEM car.

    • @bradgriffith4231
      @bradgriffith4231 2 года назад +1

      Greg Parsons The manufacturers have that pretty well figured out. There are only 2 ways to make more power. 1 is making the combustion process more efficient at converting fuel to BTUs of heat which technically makes more power without more fuel, the 2nd is by burning more fuel to make more BTUs. A better air filter, a smaller crank pulley to underdrive the appliances, a more efficient muffler, etc might make the combustion more efficient & reducing vehicle weight(manufactureres claim 1 MPG increase for every 500 lbs of weight reduction), better aerodynamics . Most other changes, including a "power tuner" boost power but hurt MPG.

    • @bradgriffith4231
      @bradgriffith4231 2 года назад +1

      You'd NEVER end up with an F1 engine, regardless of what you start with. They are big bore, very short stroke motors with electronic valve controls(NO CAMSHAFTS) that turn 18,000+ RPM. They are more like a video game than a race car. When the crash test dummy is out on the track "practising", the engineer is sitting in the pits with his laptop, optimizing the ignition timing, variable valve timing, A/F mixture, shift points, traction control & active suspension. The "driver" basically steers & brakes the "car". The ECM basically does everything else!

    With the liquid intercoolers.. why instead of using the engine coolant that is around 200 degrees to cool it.. why not hook up a secondary cooling system with a remote mount electric water pump, and it’s own radiator that would mount in front of the ac condensor/engine radiator?? And for even better cooling for those hot summer days, drag strip weekends, or the Saturday night beating up rustangs and slowmaros you could plumb a cool can into the coolant line like you’d see on race cars, like my alcohol cuda had on the fuel line that you’d put dry ice in to get the coolant even colder after going thru the air cooled rad.. which you can use regular ice as well, but dry ice lasts longer and you better make sure there’s no leaks if running regular ice because you get some water leaking out and it gets on your tire at 140+ it’s not going to be a good thing at all…

      The factory intercoolers have their own reservoir, NOT 200* engine coolant. FYI, Speed Demon LSR car starts out with a huge amount of ice(something like 100lbs) in the intercooler tank & it's all melted & temp over 100* by the end of it's 6 mile Bonneville pass!

    Evrytime I see people building Mopar engines they use aftermarket efi systems. Are we just locked out of Mopar unless we go aftermarket?
    Any info appreciated. (Would like to use my Mopar components but maybe stock ecu is just not doable. Working on a 318 magnum in a 70 ebody)

      Wasn't that an oldsmobile?

    • @shadvan9494
      @shadvan9494 3 года назад

      307 Chevy was the base v8 in just about everything from 1968-1973 it replaced the 283 as the base engine 1968. The 307 was replaced by the 305 in 1974. The 307 uses the same 3.25 inch crank like the 327 and the 3.875 bore as the 283. It was only offered as a 2 bbl carb. There was never a factory high performance version of the 307. But putting on a 4bbl makes a world of difference. Personally I would like to see a dyno test on a 307, maybe one with some vortec heads.

      @@shadvan9494 I leaned something new today. So what about the 307 that came in like the 80s or so oldsmobile cutlass? Was that at all related to the Chevy 307?

    • @theeoddments960
      @theeoddments960 3 года назад

      @@arnoldis24 the Chevy 307 and the oldsmobile 307 are completely different engines on two different engine lines. The olds 307 is the Oldsmobile small block related to the olds 350 and 403. The olds 307 was used in some Chevy vehicles because at the time they were torquier and had a little better gas mileage. The 307 chevy went out of production in the early 70’s
