I still want to see you do this test with an all cast bottom end 350 WITH RING GAP. since 95% of the time the failure is the rings butting up and breaking the piston. I know Richard Holdner doesn't do anything with any of the LS engines until he pulls them apart and gaps the rings but I have never seen him or you guys gap the rings on these old school small blocks for a test like this. So what will it take if the ring gap is not the issue? Inquiring minds want to know.
I've blown many a mind with an 850 on a buddies 305. Every motor loves airflow, even smaller bores. I used to think, that's too big. I was wrong, I put a Predator on a 289. Makes mad torque and power over a standard 600 or 750 holley or square bore. The predator flows up to 930 cfm, only as the motor needs or can take, so we found to put the largest carb you can fit under the hood and adjust jetting as needed. They're just air pumps...

Manifolds and headers are different. Most of the people you hear talking about headers are talking about after-market modifications that replace the engine's manifold with a header.
Well here you'll have two very different parts sharing similar terminology. Intake manifold and (stock) exhaust manifolds. It only becomes exhaust headers when it's aftermarket, free-flowing tubes to replace the original log.
