Thank you for your incredible contributions to the DOOM speedrunning scene! You did an amazing job on all of them, and if you're indeed taking a break this is the best way to go. Congrats!
Sad we won't get any new runs for a while but its been an honor to watch your runs. I've probably watched your runs about 30 times each :p They always inspire so never think your work was without effect. You are the master doomer, all hail _\m/
Wouldn't call stuff like Metallica grunge, personally. And don't people often talk about the music? Seems to be a common point of discussion. I often think "wow, it's amazing no one's taken them to court over the music clearly violating copyright!" Presumably it's because id Software were so beloved, even big bands were like "nah, these guys are cool, let them do their thing."
I have watched speedrun for a long time, I commented your run a long time ago in my show (your old UV record), I have put Doom II in a speedrun / esport competition I organized thanks to you (a lot of french runners know you and love your runs), I have watch nearly all your Doom II runs (UV and NM), you have been one of my speedrunner hero all those years, the Doom II fans will miss you, but sometimes you have to move on, and that is your call, I respect that, good luck for your other projects whatever they are !
Once again, you show why you're the best speed runner at Doom, period. Always a pleasure to watch you kicking ass on Doom. Didn't know that trick existed on The Citadel (@ 12:36); is that a new one?
I was view #666 lol. I understand the fatigue with speed running. I hope you have a second wind, but if you are done for good, thank you for the great runs. You definitely made a big difference and a name for yourself in this community. Best of luck with wherever life takes you.
This run is beyond comprehension.. seriously.. I say that with ut most respect. What you have achieved in the last 4 years is well... I have no words for. I'm sad to see you say this is the last run. I watched your first demo years ago and right then saw how gifted you were to be able to achieve these runs. You were the first person to inspire me to start recording (I have been speedrunning for years but didn't start recording till 1-2 years ago). So thank you for a legacy and hopefully one day you will return and show us something that we all thought was impossible.
This video results incredible for me. The lasts times I tried Doom 2 in NIGHTMARE! I wasn't even able to finish the god-damned 2nd map! And you managed to beat it in its entirety! Well done, Zero! RESPECT
I sometimes have nightmares about appearing in a 3:42-like area with 0 ammo and health. I'm 31 and I last played Doom 2 as a kid. Thanks a lot, id Software
In my humble opinion, Zermoaster had done MORE than enough to call it a break. If there is a way to go, than this sure is :)...other than a rocket to a face :D Well done master! You deserve a break after all this!
idk... he is a very good doom speed runner, maybe even the very best, but he does seem to leave a LOT of demons left alive to keep invading and destroying earth and mars and which ever other planets they invade and destroy...
John Romero's 'impossible' challenge is lowered even further. Got so engrossed I missed the 2% health moment!. I'm guessing the 4 dislikes are from the Cybies who didn't appear
Nightmare difficulty was created essentially as a joke or so I read. Apparently during the playtesting of the original game some said it was too easy so Nightmare was created to give people a harder challenge. The catch however was that it was never playtested, so when the first Doom II nightmare run came out John Romero was shocked because he never thought it was actually possible
I played doom 2 a lot as teenager. A couple years ago, as adult, I decided to try a nightmare run very inspired by speed running, like, just move as far as possible through the level. After many tries and sweat I managed to finish the game although it took me a couple weeks.
All I got to say, is you're a fucking legend dude. Fuck a bunch of Super Mario Bros speedruns and all that bullshit, this is the top of the fucking line
wow nice speedrun I like how you use the glitches-delay thing = Instead of just popping trough a gap, you stay in there a bit to kill beasts outside it. Very cool.
i wish i could travel back in time about 20 years or so and show MYSELF that clip when i was about 16... to view it back then i probably would have to bring it back on vhs tape! but i'd sure love to see my reaction as a kid
Been replaying this game for a couple hours each night for the last few nights and he caught up to where I was in about 6.5 minutes… it’s like doom guy and John Wick fused into one
Is there a manipulation for the Cyberdemon in the Refueling Base, to make sure he doesn't teleport and troll you? Or do you just have to hope? Always a pleasure to watch someone who knows it by heart do the final section of Tenements. Awesome stuff.
I try to move so that he can see me and starts firing at me, if he is busy firing 3 rockets than it will take some time before he teleports. Doesn't always work, but usually it's not a problem. Thanks!
12:18 I had no clue you could pre-fire a BFG then hit the portal for it to hit on the other side. Edit: After seeing it the first time, I noticed he does it multiple times. That's a super helpful trick.
Zero Master was this single segment or was each map done individually and then compiled into one video? Either way I’m truly amazed but was just curious!
Love watching through these and seeing all the clever improvements you continue to make on this run after all these years. Although I still can't figure out why you use the arrow key to turn before positioning for the skip at 16:38.
The 2% moment a lot of people are talking about in comments is at 10:27
You're my timesaver... Thank you!

@@Walczyk ICH IN FAST TOT!
@@dbodooley infighting + innacuracy from enemies by around 16 degrees from something that is 1 unit wide.
The 2% also the level is called wolfeinstein
i see u have played this game before
He played this game for the past25+ years
Yeah he might have beaten it like a few times
he’s beaten it at least 50 times because he memorized every useful secret on the levels.
Jeff Goldblum
@72ithink it's a huge feat going from casual playthroughs to speedrunning with such low experience, my respects
Thank you for your incredible contributions to the DOOM speedrunning scene! You did an amazing job on all of them, and if you're indeed taking a break this is the best way to go. Congrats!
yeah I'm pretty happy to end with a decent nightmare time for once! and thanks!
@@ZeroMaster Finishes the entire game on Nightmare in about 20 minutes, it's only "decent." lol
@@ZeroMaster Finishing the game on nightmare alone is a feat in itself....haha.
Damn that 2%... little heart attack...
This madman just never stops.
Seriously, your pursuit for perfection is really inspiring.
Congrats on this amazing time! And you deserve a break for all this, you did a lot of things that not many (even the best) players have done. Amazing!
And when Zero Master was born, Hell cried out a named him the Doom Slayer
"A named him"
Sad we won't get any new runs for a while but its been an honor to watch your runs. I've probably watched your runs about 30 times each :p They always inspire so never think your work was without effect. You are the master doomer, all hail _\m/
i can't believe he's still beating (his) records...
Really abusing those vinyls
Ironic it's the Gestapo that almost stop you after mowing through legions of hell...
Pure perfection, rewatching again to cheer myself up.
18:50 Making the archvile open the door like that is really impressive, I've never seen it
You have just given me 22:27 minutes and seconds of entertainment..... Bloody brilliant!!!! Well played.
22:09 Wow! I didn't know this is possible!
The best part about Doom 2 that no one ever talks about? All the great MIDI covers of classic grunge-era tunes
Wouldn't call stuff like Metallica grunge, personally. And don't people often talk about the music? Seems to be a common point of discussion. I often think "wow, it's amazing no one's taken them to court over the music clearly violating copyright!" You mean that lots and lots of people talk about in the Doom fan scene?
@@FFFan3445 or perhaps because Bobby Prince is a lawyer and somehow knows a loophole, if not that. But this hasn't gone without wide mention either.
Kudos on the rad NM-speedun!
does anyone else think that the music in doom 2 was inspired by Metallica?
I have watched speedrun for a long time, I commented your run a long time ago in my show (your old UV record), I have put Doom II in a speedrun / esport competition I organized thanks to you (a lot of french runners know you and love your runs), I have watch nearly all your Doom II runs (UV and NM), you have been one of my speedrunner hero all those years, the Doom II fans will miss you, but sometimes you have to move on, and that is your call, I respect that, good luck for your other projects whatever they are !
Thanks cdv! I enjoyed watching people take on doom 2, hopefully doom1/ultimate doom can be included next time ;)
Once again, you show why you're the best speed runner at Doom, period. Always a pleasure to watch you kicking ass on Doom. Didn't know that trick existed on The Citadel (@ 12:36); is that a new one?
Thanks!, map 19 is similar to map 17 trick, so it was discovered around the same time.
Man, I can't even get this speed on I'm too young to die haha. Amazing! Enjoy your well earned break.
IKR sometimes I can’t take these levels

Congratulation you beat the previuos record!.

Same here! Been following you since the very beginning! Going to miss your runs Zero! Congrats once again!
This is so sick run! The amount of luck, skill and patience is needed to accomplish this! Tens of thousands of attempts, wow... Congratulations!

Greetings from the peruvian doom speedrun community!
Just finished watching this and had to login to comment on how amazing this is. Seriously mindblowing stuff, man. You are a god among Doom players!
Good job on that last 3 blast. It really pissed me off when I have to go all the way to the top if I missed one shot
Brilliant run man congratz. Sub 21 hopefully some day 🔥 🔥 🔥

4 years... SALUTE to your dedication and hard work. Time to take a breather, just wish you went up against Dime on the Speedrun that would be epic..
can we all agree zeromaster is the best doomer of all time?

I can't believe I never tried to beat Doom 2 in NM for all these years. This has inspired me to give it a try!
This guy finished Doom II in the timespan of a lunch break at my job, Jesus Christ.
Congratz on this new record!
Doom and its mods are still my one of my favorite games in its category.
These are like the best graphics than any modern fpv can give, doom will always reign supreme.
see this in 2022 ..when i get boring,i back to see the speedruns from zero master.boring not more,ty zero master :)
Celebrating Doom 2's 30th birthday by rewatching this legendary speedrun!

I'm thinking of "grandmothers react to fps speedrun videos" type of RUclips content.
That was absolutely incredible! Good job.
you are awesome, I cant believe it, for things like these is that I love Doom. Greetings from Colombia
Zero is among the greatest, if not the greatest Doom player.

When I saw the title of this video and the length I literally said 'Oh fuck off' out loud. You're a cool dude, is what I'm saying.
I can't seem to get myself to run through some of those tight spaces like on suburbs.

11:23 I did not know you could hit the switch through the wall like that. Thats insane!
I had to stop by and see the real doomslayer's handiwork
I barely get through map 02 on Nightmare. Death in map 03 is inevitable. I cannot even comprehend how this type of gameplay is possible.
Those monsters are yelping... for mercy
Verily, the slayer hath come!
