This is an incredibly well done rap battle.
Gold's lines are all about how he has worked very hard to make it this far and that red is just another stepping stone that doesn't understand when he's been stepped on. His raps are all clever attacks on red's character.
Red's lyrics are all centered on himself as being so great that people like Gold aren't even an afterthought for him because of his experience and masterful skills, he is insinuating that Gold would be nothing without him. His raps are all centered on dissing gold without directly attacking or mentioning him.
I'm disappointed to have just clicked on this video today, should have done so years ago

To be honest I can't tell if you're serious or being sarcastic
I feel like Red won this one. Gold had good references and a great line like: "They call you Red 'cause you got nothing but periods" and Red counters it with "You think I'd be scared of those?" make it a point that he doesn't care about the little insults he throws.

Red: "I only need six to be worshipped by the masses"
Gold: "You can't amount to half of that, I doubled your badges"

That alst line didn't make much sense to me though. The anime and TCG were arguably just as influential as Pokemon R&B I can't think of a single reason why there couldn't have been more games.

Lets not forget that Gold's the reason Red finally left and got back in the game
Actually, Red is the reason that he finally left Mt. Silver cuz red would only got back to society if someone could beat him. And Ethan is protagonist so it is guaranteed to win. Because of that, when he lost, he accepted that they were stronger trainers than him(but I still think red would win he lost because gold is protagonist) and get back to the society.
Most people don't read the manga. Red is actually the Champion. He went to Mt. Silver to get away and clear his mind. He knew about the extra pokemon. In the manga he became one of the strongest trainers. While Gold in the vido game is the protagonist its the player who beats him. The main question is why did Gold go climbing Mt. Silver anyways. If no one was there he just be a fool. Also in the game it's suppose to be Red and he doesn't say anything because it's your character seeing things.

@Master_guy the thing is we dont know gold's canon team. Since he doesnt show at any other game ever we can only say that his teams contains typhlosion/gyarados/hooh or lugia and 3 pokemons that are special to the playthrough (given eggs, sudowoodo encounter etc) + red usually has the higher leveled team. Thats why I said I think, you cant compare gold to any other character because you know nothing about him

no, reds hat looked that way in the gen 3 remakes, and ash's outfit in XY is loosly based on the male trainer outfit from the XY games (and the red gen 3 outfit is from 2003, while the xy anime is from 2013)

@@sherancarter8382 Pokemon Gold takes place in the Johto Region, but after beating the Elite you also travel to Kanto. Whereas Pokemon Red Only takes place in Kanto.
This means that Gold has, canonically, captured more pokemon as he has all the pokemon found in Kanto+ the new ones from Johto

This was such a close battle; both were great! But I think Gold won. I liked the periods line, but my favorite was "If you think you're Fire, Red, I'mma leave you in Ashes/'Cause Gold's bars are 24 karat!" Those clever puns were what made me choose him as the winner. :)
