Maybe i'm reading too deep into it, but during Poison, when Angel danced with Valentino, he was chained to him and being dragged along the whole time. When Husk dances with Angel, he starts by guiding him by the hands, but by the end of it they're dancing in sync without touching at all. Really goes to show the difference between Angel's relationship with both Val and Husk

2:16 I love that in this scene, Angel's leash looks messy(by Valentino), but Husk's leash looks clean as heck(by Alastor), both show the personalities of two 'psychopathic freaks'.
I think Angels is supposed to mimic bondage because it is Valentino and it would make sense for it to be a shibari pattern. The comparison is super neat tho!

for some reason i used to think it was bc of the rules of their contracts, like Husk is forced to do whatever, whenever Alastor wants him to, which is why the rope is so tight, and Angel’s is because his contract only applies when in the studio, meaning it’s more loose.

I’ve seen some people criticize this song, saying Husk is telling Angel to “suck it up” cause he’s not the only one with problems, and…I’ve never understood how someone could misinterpret a song so brilliantly.
Do I agree that the lyrics make things a bit tone deaf? Yeah, it’s not PERFECT. But with the tone of the song itself, it’s almost impossible not to understand what’s happening here.
Husk isn’t invalidating Angel’s trauma or situation with Val, nor is he trying to compare him selling his soul to Alastor to Angel selling his soul to Valentino, and being sexually abused as a result. Husk can’t relate to that, and he doesn’t claim to. But he CAN relate to regretting past choices. He CAN relate to being in an inescapable situation. So while he can’t relate to Angel’s EXACT struggles, he can relate to a certain extent. And that’s what this song is about.
It’s a comforter. Yeah Angel’s in deep shit, but he’s not the only one. He’s not alone in his problems, and he doesn’t have to keep being alone when there are people who can say “Me too man, it’s gonna be okay”.
Some people are interpreting this song as Husk telling Angel “You’re not the only one with problems, so suck it up and embrace it, you’re not special”.
What Husk is REALLY trying to tell Angel is “You’re not alone, and you don’t have to act like you’re alone. You can let your walls down for people who can understand, even slightly. And if you’re gonna be suffering, might as well suffer with a friend”. THAT’S what this song is about.

You know something I noticed is almost all of Angel's songs seem to start with a euphoric/upbeat tone before gradually toning it down towards the end to show his true despair
But here it's the opposite Angel starts out being offended by Husk but when he realizes the sentiment he started to sing along and both of them are happy towards the end of the song because they understand despite everything there is someone who understands
I take it as a sign that things will get better for both of them
I mean his only song in the show is poison, and addict only has that part after the credits but still a copl observation

I don't see anyone mentioning it here, but Husk makes himself vulnerable to Angel Dust as well. He opens up about how he used to feel like Angel does, like no one could relate to his trauma. Idk how much Angel knew about Husk's circumstances prior to this episode, but Husk opens up about it to Angel - - which he probably would not do with anyone else at the hotel. I think he sees his old self in Angel and that's why he's been so frustrated by Angel in the past.
Despite being able to swear like a sailor and a bit of a grouch, Husk certainly knows how to be classy.

I love that Husk doesn’t try to sugar coat Angel’s situation. His life is fucked up, and telling him otherwise would be total bullshit. Instead, he tells him straight up that his life is shit, but that that’s okay. As soon as Angel realizes Husk isn’t judging him, his mood shifts and he immediately starts to embrace who he is. Their lives both suck in their own ways, but at least they know they’re not alone :’)

@@gamerstheater1187 depends on your outlook. some people can learn to live with it and even recover from it, others take the... deepest way out so to speak. some live with it as a permanent scar, others keeps that wound bleeding while drowning themselves in other stuff. also no matter how you try to avoid it, everyone is traumatized in some way.
family, friends, strangers, physical, emotional, economical etc, there is no palpatable way someone isnt traumatized somehow. you can traumatize a kid with a single story or a grown adult with a close familys death. its down to the individuals own perceptive of how they wanna live their life. for example, ive had enough bad reactions and treatments from women that i cant see myself ever getting a girlfriend, but i would love to have a wife and kids etc.

But isn't the whole message of the show about redemption? When Charlie tells Sir Pentious "It starts with sorry" that's repentance. If I were teaching an adult Bible study, I would totally work Sir Pentious' redemption arc into the class, with relevant Bible verses. John 15:13- "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Alastor is a psychopath, but doesn't seem abusive or violent towards his servants. Husk openly bad mouthed and argued with Alastor in the pilot but didn't get beaten or intimidated for it; rather he bribed husk with alcohol and husk cooperated. Bribery with addiction is a bad thing but constant physical and sexual abuse is much worse.

Yeah. Height doesn’t have much to do with your voice. My mom was extremely tall (much taller than the average tall man) and she was always very easy to read because she got a very deep voice whenever she got upset and the rest of the time, she sounded a lot like Charlie’s pilot voice while my (even taller) grandpa sounded like Twilight from My little pony 😂

If Husker wasn't there Angel probably wouldn't have his redeeming qualities that he has now. I would even dare say Husker did more for him than Charlie did, that's not for a lack of trying or care on her part but Husker was just able to relate to him better on a personal level

Don’t forget, Charlie and Vaggie are the reason why Husked went after Angel to begin with, Husker’s FIRST instinct was Apathy. “It’s Angel, he’ll be fine”. So while yes Husker here is exactly what Angel needs, without Charlie Husk wouldn’t be there.

I love that the whole theme of this song is kind of a wake up call for Angel. He thinks he has to keep his problems to himself because no one in the hotel knows what it's like, and Husk is basically saying "Hello? I've literally been the exact person you needed to help you this entire time, so why don't you just let me already?"

Husk just tells it how it is. He may be in that Hotel because Alastor forced him to, but Husk is gonna tell you what you NEED to hear, not what you WANT to hear. That's why I love his character, he's brutally honest, but honest nonetheless.

I don't know if it's either Keith David's singing, or the lyrics are just relatable to us in this trying time, but I've been listening to this song repeatedly so many times now, I've lost count. But it is definitely catchy and uplifiting.
i hate how twitter's calling this "victim blaming" when in reality the message is, "Yo we're at the bottom and so are a million others. We losers got each other to lean on so lets embrace it"
In a way, I do think this song does place some of the blame on these victims. However, within the wider context of the show and their stories, it's a lot more complicated. Husk and Angel have made some very bad choices, but they made those choices exactly because they didn't have any other better option, just worse ones. It's an illusion of choice we see repeatedly.

From someone not in their position, it’s easy to tell them they have nothing to be sorry for, etc. but for two people going through similar shit, it’s realistic. It’s like they haven’t reached that part of the healing journey yet. Imo 🤗

@@hardouindelagrandiere8446I like how the songs reflect the views of two similar yet different characters. Husk and Angel have different types of trauma yet bond through that. Carmella and Velvet have different views on war since one has been through war and the consequences, while Velvet is willing to go to war without knowing the consequences having never experienced it. Then you got Alastor and Vox who have their own personal beef between one another. I just feel like it’s a cool way to show off characters right off the bat.
The duets in Hazbin Hotel are SO good, and this is my favorite of what we’ve seen so far. Husk is the absolute best friend/bartender a demon could have!

I love that Husk doesn't try and make Angel feel better by being like, 'You're worth more!' or 'You're better than you think!' because then Angel would see right through it, and instead comforts Angel by basically saying, 'Yes, your afterlife is a mess, but you aren't alone'.
And it work's. This song is surprisingly comforting... Maybe because I relate? Yeah, sure! I'm a loser😂

I love this so much, Husk goes out of his way to make Angel feel better despite him saying 'I'm not about to put on a show." He literally puts on a show just to help Angel which is kind of adorable

Husk is so comforting to listen to. I love how empathic he is. It wasn't what I was expecting he really grew on me.
His voice has strayed away from his pilot voice the most (well except KatieXD) and while I think his pilot voice fits his character a bit better, Keith David can't possibly do wong and Husk really climbed the latter in my character rankings :)

Honestly I genuinely never thought Husk would get some depth like this, I just saw him as essentially a gag character or a cynical voice of reason type character. So the fact he got a song like this, especially with the message he has, gives me hope for how the other characters will be played out and developed.
Shows us he does care deep down, and just wants others to be real and have always place their problems on themselves. not realizing they are not alone and they can help each other.

I know a lot of people are on the fence about the new voice actors but I think Keith David is a perfect fit for husk, the slightly deeper, smoother yet still slightly gravely voice fits him so well
I feel like most of the voice acting controversy comes from Angel Dust's VA, because we had that music video that had one VA and then they don't have that VA on the show, but honestly since "poison" came out most of the debacle has died down. Also Keith David is amazing and everyone knows it, so I doubt that there was many protests to him doing any character honestly

I love how by the end of the song Husk introduces much more sweeter and positive words for Angel to hear to “lose your self-loathing, let hope in”.
It goes from “you’re not special” and cynical but Husk teachs that while it is cynical, that means your arnt alone, and the song slowly builds into something very positive. I was so right for having Husk be my favorite character, out of all of the characters, he’s the most realistic.
