Whoever decided to make an electroswing duet between Lucifer and Alastor where they’re constantly trying to one-up each other deserves a raise of at least 3 million dollars.
I was so scared they would've gone a different route making Alastor say "Daddy" instead of "Dad". It would've made that scene so much more uncomfortable.
Love how Luci's attitude goes from "this man is trying to pull moves on my daughter" to "oh thank god my daughter likes girls" THEN TO "OH THIS MAN IS TRYING TO STEAL MY SPOT"
I just love how Alastor clearly couldn't care less about being a father figure to Charlie and just wants to mess with her father, who's the KING OF HELL. The man just doesn't care
Well it's already been hinted at that Alastor is working for Lilith, as she's the only one left in hell that's way stronger than him. So maybe getting Charlie to trust him is part of the plan.
@@andrewmichael9201 Alastor is a great character, but c'mon. Even if he saw that as an insult, what could he possibly do to Lucifer? The most he could do is annoy him...which he has already done.
A lot of people are thinking Alastor really sees Charlie as a daughter but actually don't realize that he was trying to piss Lucifer off. It's HILARIOUS.
The deliberate head turn and eye contact as he said it had me cackling. It's so funny that he immediately HATES Lucifer as soon as he stepped in the door. I'm assuming from fan theories it has something to do with Lilith but whatever the case is- that line delivery was personal😂
Given that Lucifer being dismissive of him seemed to genuinely push his buttons, I wouldn’t be surprised if Al actually did see himself as a parental figure in Charlie’s life, just out of spite. That thing where you start off doing something just to be contrary, then dig in your heels because you’re stubborn, and eventually it becomes sincere because you’re in for a penny, in for a pound. (Also, tbf - all of the sinners in Hell do seem to have “Pride” as a motif in their motivations and attitudes)
He looked annoyed from the very start of the song. I think they're both just jealous of each other. I don't think he really sees Charlie as a daughter, but he may care for her and is genuinely jealous of Lucifer
"I'm singing it, I'll finish it" is the exact attitude Alastor took to "Stayed Gone" and I'm laughing so much that it's now an established character trait of his.
Alastor turning his enemies solos into duets against their will and stealing the spotlight from them is truly an Alastor moment. I wasn't expecting him to be such a massive troll, but I'm fucking loving it so far.

Okay but can we just acknowledge how adorable Charlie looks at 1:02 and also how funny and kinda sweet it is that she doesn't find anything weird about Alastor tucking her into bed and patting her on the head 😂😂😂😂
Alastor is a master manipulator. He saw Lucifer's lackluster reaction to the hotel, so he intentionally started acting like Charlie's 'replacement dad' to make Lucifer jealous so he would choose to help her - and by extension, help whatever Alastor is trying to do at the hotel. He's really good at this lmao
I think that although Alastor is definitely manipulating Lucifer, he also did it out genuine jealousy. Alastor is a narcissist and was jealous Lucifer stole all the attention. He also genuinely looked pissed at Lucifer even when nobody was looking at him, so it definitely wasn’t an act.
Oh I don't doubt any of that. Alastor's first goal was manipulation, then getting some attention and sticking it to the biggest boss of Hell for fun. He's a lot of things at once!@@lolscience1979
@lolscience1979 true. Look at his eye twitching when Lucifer shows up. Also, him not knowing him? His ego was damaged. The leesh being brought up too. That's why he was so determined to show his power off at the end. Insecurity deep down
I like how everyone expected Lucifer to be the most intimidating guy ever but he turns out to be the exact opposite and is just a nervous anti-social dad
Reminder that lucifer has been the King of Hell since the very begining, no one has been able to unseat him, Alistor is using his daughter as a shield from which to chalenge him behind.
@@johnbraithwaite863there was a theory as well that Alastor is on a Lilith’s leash, so maybe his kindness is forced by Charlie’s mother. BTW I believe Lucifer is such a goofster cuz he was an angel long before and he is too strong to care and be intimidating.
I am so glad they made Lucifer such a caring dad. Sure he's kind of a doofus who isn't exactly good at this, but he is legit trying and does truly love Charlie. Also Hearing Alastor use profanity is GOLD. That’s how you know he’s really upset because nobody really gets to him.
To be fair, I'm pretty pissed that Luci and Al didn't get to finish their song. This is the second time Alastor's been cockblocked from finishing a musical number.
The funniest thing about this whole interaction is that it perfectly highlight Alastor’s biggest weakness: his pathological need to be the most important person in the room. He was gone for 7 years, none of the other overlords cared where he went or what he was doing. Demons weaker than him annoying him and disrespecting him? Their screams of agony are broadcast all across Hell. The King of Hell shows us? Well, Alastor simply can’t compete in terms of power, but Lucifer does NOT like the idea of anyone else filling the father figure role of Charlie’s life. So, Alastor tries his hand at taking that spot.
Every winner is someone else’s loser. Alastor assumed he could slip back into the city and immediately cause waves like he did in his heyday, but he’s not the only person who got stronger in his 7 year absence, and there were always more powerful forces (like Lucifer) who could crush him like a bug. Vox and Vaggie appear to be the only people who even cared about his return, Vaggie because she’s obsessed with keeping Charlie safe and Vox because he’s still mad that Alastor refused his offer and then didn’t die for it.
@@Initiallyleo We didn't see the whole effect os his return yet... and well, as Alastor obviouslly don't try to control all Hell or something like that, his return is more like... his rival's problem, so everybody else don't need to drop a sweat. Vox, otherwise, who probably tried to take over all Alastor's domain when he destroyed all the old Pride Overlords, looks Desperate. Valentino looks like holds more on Lust Circle, so he is only entertained by Vox is desperation and anger, as he casually mentions how Alastor almost destroyed Vox in the past
I'm gonna actually go on the limb and say Alastor was legitimately jealous. Not because he views Charlie as a daughter, but because he has pride in his work, and the entire hotel has basically become "his." So Charlie(who's the heart of the whole thing) getting help from the 1 person Alastor truly has no power over is like he's getting cut out of the 1 thing he's genuinely putting effort into(which is supported by him kicking out probably the closest individual he had as a friend, purely because they weren't taking Charlie's dream seriously, and were bringing harm to the hotel).
Oh, there's so much. All of this yes, I also think he deeply fears powerlessness and being dismissed. Lucifer replacing him would certainly sting. I think it's interesting that once he reinforces his value, (by defending the hotel and kicking out Mimzy), he suddenly doesn't give af about Lucifer anymore. OH and we know he's being controlled by someone which he's also extremely insecure and terrified about. I wonder if he's not at the hotel out of his free will, but rather his owner WANTS him to be there for some reason. **cough** Lilith **cough** If Lucifer had successfully replaced him, who knows what repercussions he could have faced for his failure?
@@BuckerydogSchmuckeryDog Lilith 100% has his soul, not even Alastor would go this far JUST for entertainment. Lilith most likely gave him all this power just so he could ensure Charlie's plans succeed, also so he can snuff out any overlords who would get in her way. Alastor doesn't strike me as power hungry, so I bet everything he has done has been under Lilith's watch.
Love the parallels of their last verses with their "father" rivalry. _"Can you butt out of my song?_ *Your song? I started this!* _I'm singing it. I'll finish it."_
I'm both impressed and not surprised that Alastor is actively trying to piss off the Devil HIMSELF for the laugh by saying he's Charlie's "step father." 😂
@GeorgieFl0ydCantBreatheI would rather sink in quick-sand until I suffocate and die, then subscribe to an annoying liar like you. Have a good day, by the way.
With Alastor's own backstory from when he was alive, i feel like this was about more than just him trying to piss off Lucifer for shits and giggles. Him and his mother were abandoned by his father, so that "sadly, there are times when a birth parent is a dud" line feels more personal. He WANTS Lucifer to feel bad about being an absent dead beat. Tbh i love our radio demon more for it
I nearly forgot about that. That makes sense. Not just a lilith thing, but him basically giving a long backhanded lecture to Luci, because you notice, he doesn’t fight him as much at the end of the episode, when they reconcile & speak their minds. They being Charlie and Luci
i would love that idea and was thinking something similar but where did you get the abandoned by his father information? I never knew that was a thing and I don't think its on his wiki

Love that Alastor is just blatantly lying about his relationship with Charlie to get under Lucifer's skin. He has NEVER wanted to be a father figure to the hotel gang, he’s just being a pr*ck to the literal king of hell. And it's iconic.
Funny enough I think his very first line is genuine to some degree. Even if it's only because they amuse him or he was sent there by Lilith, I do think he enjoys his time around the hotel and it's shenanigans.
I think he’s either going to betray them or he’s gonna start getting attached. I think this show is going to end with Alastor getting redemption or something.
@@therealopaartist although, out of all the main hotel cast, I think he'll be the last ti get redeemed. Probably Nifty is the only exclusion. Alastor has only shown that he revels in the pain and suffering of others, whereas the others in the hotel ARE suffering.
@@thegreatmonacage3782many fans don’t know his backstory(when he was alive). Alastor was a serial killer who reveled in keeping police on their toes. The radio was talking about his murders all the time. Alastor was evil even before hell
One thing I noticed after listening to this song a billion times is why Charlie looks so awkward around her dad but is more positively responsive to Alastor. Lucifer is basically trying to show off and fix the hotel without actually addressing Charlie’s problem. He wants to show that, as of the king of hell, he can give her anything and everything to make the hotel look and feel better, even if that’s not really what she wants at the moment. He wants to give Charlie and the hotel the royal treatment, even though she didn’t ask him to do that. He’s trying to get close to her through material means. He doesn’t understand that she needs support and validation, not a fancy upgrade to the hotel. He’s being genuine, but he doesn’t know how to talk to his daughter without overcompensating. Meanwhile Alastor seems to be almost completely disingenuous, but it works because he knows what she wants to hear. He claims to support her and validates her. Not to mention, unlike Lucifer, he ACTUALLY knows her. No matter his intentions or whether or not he’s lying through his teeth, he’s been there “since day 1”, supporting and validating her. That’s why he only brings that up instead of trying to produce material objects like Lucifer (also because he can’t outdo Lucifer with that sort of thing.) Because of this, he legit feels more like a father figure than Lucifer does. Later in the episode, Lucifer did win the little battle because he was able to be more personal with his daughter, but in this song, Alastor was definitely winning.
I think his overcompensation was his second attempt of trying to show Charlie that she shouldn’t work with Heaven. Originally it was speculated that the reason Lucifer sent Charlie to the meeting with Adam was because he didn’t want to deal with his wife’s ex. But after he talked to Charlie, I think it was his way of first showing her that Heaven won’t work with her. That there’s more corruption than she knows. But when that didn’t work he showed off as a way to say “don’t rely on Heaven, rely on me.” He just wanted to turn her down gently. He wanted her to change her mind. After actually talking to Charlie and seeing her passion he then realized that he couldn’t change her mind. That while he wants to protect only her, she wants to protect all of Hell. Even when they don’t all deserve it. I hope we see more of him in the show, though I know Alastor wants to see less of him. Also side note but, I want to know where Eve is. Adam doesn’t really mention her and Lute definitely isn’t her. I know people are speculating that Alastor’s “leash holder” is Lilith but what if it’s both Lilith and Eve? What if they’re working towards a common goal and Lilith is having Alastor work with Charlie to get to accomplish something or having him distract her to protect her.
this is a great analysis. alastor knows he can't compete with any of lucifer's material offerings so he just uses his relationship with charlie that her dad failed to establish instead, whereas lucifer keeps trying to compensate for that with more and more offerings.
@@wilberwhateley7569 nothing, Charlie said that they've never been close. And that he had no interest in her. And they started seeing each other even less when her parents divorced.
Seeing how much he actually cares for her "potential" in the seventh episode maybe he actually cares for her but more as someone he can shape. As a tool he cares about
What if the target of Al's manipulation, at least in this case, was Lucifer, not Charlie? i.e., Alastor was just pretending to make a move on the 'dad niche' for Charlie to manipulate Lucifer into taking a more active interest in the Hotel?

I find it interesting how Lucifer is trying to convince Charlie he is the better father with materialistic things, while Alastor goes the more manipulative route of all the good things he’s done for Charlie/ the hotel, and also talking about ideas such as found family.
Sep, porq necesita mantener a Charlie bajo su radar y manipulación. Sin mencionar que Lucifer es el rey del infierno y Alastor quiere ser el rey del infierno
The way that Niffty looks blank until she processes who all is around her I am 1000% convinced Alastair poofed her into the toilet to pull her out just for that moment, like when he originally summoned her in the fireplace. Both times she just kinda... knew? What he wanted from her.
I think it's more that Alastor is trying to tell Charlie that he doesn't like Lucifer or that he's more reliable than her own dad, not trying to manipulate her or anything
@Kromgar1337A lot of people seem to forget that Alastor is a psychopathic, manipulative, violent demon who absolutely deserves to be in hell. It’s kind of funny that the charm he uses in the show to manipulate the cast also works on real people.
I didn't realize that detail at first. That does add to the fun. Another fun little detail I like is that the cake Lucifer serves has a drawing of him holding Alastor's severed head on it.
Alastor did a much better job of appealing to her because he intuitively understood that she cares more about social bonding than she does about power.
@@blueveins295 Yeah looking at the start, Lucifer's opening is to brag about how awesome he is while Alastor talks about the time he spent with Charlie. She doesn't seem to get that this is all to get under her dad's skin.

I love that Alastor and Lucifer flat out acknowledge they are singing a song. most of the times musicals put a song in and everyone just goes about like normal it was so strange but funny to just hear "can you stay out of my song?" "your song?! I Starteted it!"
Yeah, all the songs in the show actually happen as songs. I'd assume why singing is so prevalent would have something to do with Lilith's influence originally being spread through music, like was shown in the lore blurb at the beginning of episode 1.
Alastor in a nun outfit is something I never would have expected, and the scene with him and Niffty is surprisingly adorable actually, and Lucifer aggressively playing a violin is pretty funny, who knew that Lucifer was musically gifted, no wonder Charlie sings to get her point across, she learned it from her dad
almost all of devil myths revolve around music, Robert Johnson(blues player), Niccolò Paganini(violinist), Johnny(the fiddler), and the beetles (I think)
That's the only way to tell what he's feeling. I assume that whenever he's got angry eyes, he's generally annoyed. And his eyes are angry a lot. The egg boys annoyed him so much he lost his toothy grin and just held a barely- there smile with eye twitches.
I CANNOT get over the little growls that Jeremy Jordan put when he was singing the first verse, like ‘from the big boss of Hell himself’ and ‘because I’m the ref!’ I get chills every time I replay that part. Also the fact that Lucifer’s parts were all over the place with the animation, it was adorable
It seems like every time Luci does the growly voice he’s slipping into the character of being the king of hell all big and scary but he’s a lily goofy guy
It's the contrast between that growling tone and the goofy theater kid voice that makes the fallen angel part of his character believable to me. Very good casting.
I like how Alastor is probably just trying to play towards Charlie's kind-hearted nature and saying he values their relationship, solely to get under Lucifer's skin just cause the King of Hell doesn't know who he is. Plus Lucifer's response towards Alastor's "you can almost call me, dad" line being to aggressively play the violin is just fun
I think it's not just Alastor got offended. He seemed pretty angry even before Lucifer came to them. I think Al has something against Lucifer, maybe even something personal
I love how with both Vox and Lucifer’s songs, Alastor just hijacks the song and perfectly matches the energy and vibes. I think that really goes well with his character
It's probably been said already in the 26K comments here, but.... I really like the lighting in this song. Lucifer is real colors. Honest, at least to Charlie. Alastor is constantly neon. Bright, flashy, and attention grabbing, but a lie. It's a neat bit of story telling through design.
Question though who’s gonna pay Charlie’s child support? Neither of them are what I would really call a reliable adult figure who has the best interests of the child. 😂
Dude literally made a mountain of caviar, got into a slap fight with the radio demon and then, reconciled with his daughter and dipped. Absolute legend.
i like that charlie just instantly forgets alastor's whole stated motivation for helping with the hotel the moment he starts being nice. shes such a marshmallow
To be fair he did everything to help the hotel succeed, and said he would be completely passive about his ulterior motives. Like if the sinners start ascending he isn't going to stop them.
All of his songs are basically that. His songs are either forcing his way into someone else's song and twisting it on its head, or parodying someone else's to have the opposite meaning. In this song, Lucifer is only really focussing on what he can materially offer his daughter, and an intrinsic bond they have based on blood, having had a very estranged relationship with her for a while now. So Alastor chose to sing about found family and more personal support. This says nothing about how he actually feels about Charlie - it's just what she knew she'd respond to most positively, and what he thought would piss off Lucifer the most since he couldn't offer the same thing.
The use of color is really smart. Usually Alastor's color motif is red but for most of the song he is color graded in shades in green, possibly to illustrate he is "green with envy" since he absolutely loves being the center of attention and despises being upstaged by Lucifer.
@@theleafactor Went back to check, it seems like it cycles through multiple neon color pallettes rather than sticking to a single one. Are you moreso referring to the subject matter of Alastor buttering up Charlie to get on her good side?
Oh no just referring to the color change to the neon colors when alastor is singing, that whole color palette is the same one used during his song at the end of the pilot episode. So I think that color choice was just a nod to the pilot episode.
when alastor seems to he doing stuff involving his deals he has a green magic. the first time was when he tried to make a deal with charlie in the pilot and the second was later in this episode when husk brought up alastor being on a leash
@@OliverForrest-u3ftrue but also Lucifer is the Archangel of music, which would explain why Alastor could insert himself into the song but wasn’t able to fully hijack it like he did with Vox
@@Knightmare-77 I think he just created the first musical instruments. "Music" isn't really important enough to get one the main 8 to represent it. (7 after Lucifer's fall, so it is 7 virtues and 7 sins)
I love how Lucifer, the king of hell with more power then Alastor...instead of just using that, he thinks "ah yes, a song battle is the better way to sort this out."
Not to mention he picked a symbol of his own defeat: a fiddle. He already lost one golden fiddle to Johnny when he went down to Georgia. That's why he ditched it to go with an accordion to throw Alastor off key.
Something people don't realize is not only does Alastor say he's like Charlie's dad not only to piss Lucifer off, but also to gain Charlie's trust and favor.
You can tell because when he gets Nifty out of the toilet weird choice but you can tell he’s tryna get her trust because he’s tryna get a good reaction out of Charlie meanwhile it’s different with Lucifer when he hugs Charlie, Alastor is looking for a reaction out of luci which at all points he does when both Charlie and Lucifer are on screen I love the detail
I do definetly feel like this is setting up preparations for whatever alastors arc is gonna be too though. Whether that's him *actually* starting to care about the hotel and charlie and stuff, or his plan starting to be set into motion because so far it feels like he's still getting everything ready for whatever his plan is.
@@Ironmetal015 Probably more like antihero. Not really aligned with or against the protagonist, just has a singular goal and will do anything for it and the alignment doesn't matter. Even if that goal is just entertainment.
...the best part about this song is how much you can't tell if Alastor is singing because he wants to control Charlie or if he just wants to get under Lucifier's skin.
Ok, here's how this goes: We have established that Alastor is in someone's leash, the most probable theory being that said leash belongs to Lilith who forced him to help and protect Charlie and her hotel, given Lucifer's apathy. Alastor sees Lucifer's return as a threat to himself. I mean, he can't compete with Lucifer and if he doesn't prove useful to Charlie, who knows what whoever controls him would do to him.
As a single dad, antisocial and a little different etc, absolutely loved this episode. Seeing lucifer just be a wreck of a dad was amazing. My daughters dreams will always be so important to me. And I'll do what I can to protect her but also know I'll have to let her go out into the world and be her own person.
My favorite detail is the fact that Lucifer has a golden fiddle, a reference to the devil came down to georgia, where he challenges a kid named johnny and if johnny wins he gets the devils golden fiddle.
The fact that lucifer (avatar of pride, here a mentally unstable, depressed father) and alastor (high functioning sadistic serial killer) are "fighting" for charlies attention, even tough alastor is only doing it because he wants to be superior, is so wholesome. I love how they are so similar but on a very uniqe way. Alastor wears black tie, lucifer white tie, they both use walking sticks, have sharp teeth... They even play the instruments that are most resonant with each other (Lucifer plays violin and alastor plays piano). Electroswing is also my favorite genre, so it has to be my favorite so far.
The violin is unique! Its a call out to the song "The Devil Went Out to Georgia" in which the Devil picked this dude in a duel with playing the fiddle. If the mortal won, he'd win the devil's gold fiddle but if he lost, the devil would take his soul. It was the greatest song of its time and I wish more people got to hear it!
It seems to me that Alastor burst into the song not to attract Charlie's attention, but to annoy Lucifer and draw attention to himself. Just look at where Alastor is looking while taking care of Charlie.
I only now realise, that the entire reason Alastor is doing this (and why he hates Lucifer) is because Al isn’t used to not being the most powerful person in the room.
I love the little touch of giving Lucifer a golden fiddle, makes me wonder if it’s a replacement for the one he lost in “The Devil went down to Georgia”

Gotta give credit to lucifer too, alastor is always compose and in control in any situation yet lucifer easily gets under alastors nerves The fact lucifer manage to make alastor curse at him out of anger was incredible
@@Haphu15 I think he cursed due to his ego being hurt, but he wouldn't dare to smack the shit out of the Lucifer in front of Charlie, as he probably would do with any other random demon, who dared to mock him. The deliberate head turn and eye contact as he said it had me cackling. It's so funny that he immediately HATES Lucifer as soon as he stepped in the door. I'm assuming from fan theories it has something to do with Lilith but whatever the case is- that line delivery was personal😂
He really should learn his place considering Lucifer could vaporize him
Given that Lucifer being dismissive of him seemed to genuinely push his buttons, I wouldn’t be surprised if Al actually did see himself as a parental figure in Charlie’s life, just out of spite.

To be fair, I'm pretty pissed that Luci and Al didn't get to finish their song. This is the second time Alastor's been cockblocked from finishing a musical number.
@TheRedMan77 wdym second ? He finished the one with Vox
🙌🙌🙌
I completely agree
That could be the case. This ring of Hell is Pride, after all. The overlords are perfect examples.
@@BuckerydogSchmuckeryDog Lilith 100% has his soul, not even Alastor would go this far JUST for entertainment. Lilith most likely gave him all this power just so he could ensure Charlie's plans succeed, also so he can snuff out any overlords who would get in her way.
Later in the episode, Lucifer did win the little battle because he was able to be more personal with his daughter, but in this song, Alastor was definitely winning.
true, alastor won in song, and lucifer won in the end
only thing lucifer will always win iSss fight

Oh my god lol
Bro’s depression strikes him again
I like how Alastor’s grin never falters but you can see the defiance and annoyance in his eyes.
That's the only way to tell what he's feeling. I assume that whenever he's got angry eyes, he's generally annoyed. And his eyes are angry a lot. The egg boys annoyed him so much he lost his toothy grin and just held a barely- there smile with eye twitches.
It does when Lucifer says "what a bunch of losers" you can see the corners of his mouth are very much down lmao (and he took it personally)
The radio dial pupils and increased distortions in his voice are also a hint he’s close to losing control of his facade.z
Vox **wishes** he had this kind of rivalry with Alastor.

100% as much as i love the latter half - i cant help replaying just that first bit a couple times
The little shake of his shoulders/chest as he's on the throne is 10/10
It's giving Friend like me
I like how Alastor is probably just trying to play towards Charlie's kind-hearted nature and saying he values their relationship, solely to get under Lucifer's skin just cause the King of Hell doesn't know who he is. Plus Lucifer's response towards Alastor's "you can almost call me, dad" line being to aggressively play the violin is just fun
anyone hear the song "the devil went to Georgia"?
Hope you have a great day & Safe Travels!

Radio is pretty diverse so that fits well
He do be hijacking people's songs. "I'm singing it, I'll finish it" worked on Vox but I don't think Lucy would let him get away with it.
I like how Lucifer is a more antagonist to Alastor than Vox
He had done that with Charlie as well, in the pilot his song was a reprise of her "i have a dream", look like he can't sing fully by himself
@@tristancauley9377hopefully he starte a song in the show someday, a full on alastor song would be so cool

It's like the platonic version of "your daughter calls me daddy"
It's probably been said already in the 26K comments here, but....
I really like the lighting in this song. Lucifer is real colors. Honest, at least to Charlie. Alastor is constantly neon. Bright, flashy, and attention grabbing, but a lie.
It's a neat bit of story telling through design.
Fr
I love how Charlie is more responsive and smiling and natural towards Alastor rather than her own dad, showing how she’s moved closer to him. Wow
You can also see how Alastor focuses on their daily interactions instead of what Lucifer COULD do for Charlie and the fact that he's family.
It’s crazy to think Alastor was a more active father figure in just a couple months cause of how absent Lucifer was

i like that charlie just instantly forgets alastor's whole stated motivation for helping with the hotel the moment he starts being nice. shes such a marshmallow
To be fair he did everything to help the hotel succeed, and said he would be completely passive about his ulterior motives.
Like if the sinners start ascending he isn't going to stop them.
her little face when lucifer shows his angelic power and her face and when mimzy shows up is so precious :((
That's the issue with the pacing of the show, between those episodes, months have already gone by, thus Alistor had a lot of time to gain her trust
@onappap and also he seems to have changed a bit himself. At least enough to the point where he suggested to Mimsy that she stay and improve herself.
This entire song is just Alastor doing everything he can to annoy Lucifer and succeeding very well
Lucifer did insult him in the song as a bus boy who could be cooked as food.
I love the irony.
Every song alastor is in just turns into the two singing arguing
All of his songs are basically that. His songs are either forcing his way into someone else's song and twisting it on its head, or parodying someone else's to have the opposite meaning. In this song, Lucifer is only really focussing on what he can materially offer his daughter, and an intrinsic bond they have based on blood, having had a very estranged relationship with her for a while now. So Alastor chose to sing about found family and more personal support. This says nothing about how he actually feels about Charlie - it's just what she knew she'd respond to most positively, and what he thought would piss off Lucifer the most since he couldn't offer the same thing.
66 updoots. Perfect xD
The use of color is really smart. Usually Alastor's color motif is red but for most of the song he is color graded in shades in green, possibly to illustrate he is "green with envy" since he absolutely loves being the center of attention and despises being upstaged by Lucifer.
Also green's the complementary color of red
Interesting point, but my first thought seeing this was it was a call back to Alastor’s song in the pilot episode
I literally just got this recommended this from Satan's part in "Mastermind" and it really highlights how different Lucifer and Satan are

I'm starting to think that Alastor's superpower that made everyone fear him is his ability to take over anyone else's song
He is the radio demon for a reason
@@OliverForrest-u3ftrue but also Lucifer is the Archangel of music, which would explain why Alastor could insert himself into the song but wasn’t able to fully hijack it like he did with Vox
He wasn’t really able to this time though
@@Knightmare-77 I think he just created the first musical instruments. "Music" isn't really important enough to get one the main 8 to represent it. (7 after Lucifer's fall, so it is 7 virtues and 7 sins)
...This is the third time he's done it actually if we count him remixing 'happy hotel' into 'hazbin hotel'
I love how Lucifer, the king of hell with more power then Alastor...instead of just using that, he thinks "ah yes, a song battle is the better way to sort this out."
I mean he probably sees that Charlie cares about everyone in the hotel, so he rather not to do anything to them!
I mean, just look at the way Lucifer acts XD.
Can't prove you're better if they're dead!
Not to mention he picked a symbol of his own defeat: a fiddle. He already lost one golden fiddle to Johnny when he went down to Georgia. That's why he ditched it to go with an accordion to throw Alastor off key.
I like how Lucifer essentially lost.

To be fair, that is his expression to 50% of what is going on in the show.
He's probably had to clean up Mimzy's bullshit a lot.
Husk: Someone please kill me again...
@@Integrous_Melodies The only thing is, Alastor was confirmed not to be a villian. No idea what that implies, does Vizziepop mean antagonist or?

The answer is yes.
*Both.*

YES!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed it! I've shown this to so many friends and family members and not one of them got the reference.
Fiddle, not violin.
