Great review. I've bought this wearable cam sometime ago (in fact I already have an Ordro EP 5, bought before the EP 7), and your review isn't just fair, but absolutely spot on. It's a good cam, or "ok", as you said. I've bough it for professional use, and in my line of work, despite its shortcomings, it suffices. Its weakest point is, as you well pointed, filming in low lighting. At night, without some artificial source of light, it's pretty much useless. But again, as you said, as a budget cam, it's a fair deal, and it does what it promises (except for the 4K, which isn't "real" 4K). Hello, for the low light shooting will improve, and for the 4k, you pls display on the 4k devices can see. If devices are not 4K, they cannot display 4K.
What do you mean that is not really 4K? What resolution did you notice on your tests? The review found by me is "MP4 data was separated in 5 minutes at 4K 60 fps" which is what car cameras do to avoid 32bits limitations. Then you join files during editing. It is even better than Huawei P30 Pro did (tilt after 15 minutes of filming, solved now at P40) and Nikon W300 who stops the movie after 7 minutes and never start again (I returned it)
my opinion EP7 sounds nice but the vision is dark while GP6 audio is so noisy but vision is bright. so in conclusion choose EP7. vision no need to much for adjust
I came here to see if this camera really was any good. "It's not bad. I can jump a little bit" haha :D Thank you so much for this review. It looks like the audio and the video is better than the Go Pro. Excellent. You sold me. haha
I purchased my EP7 primarily to use as the First-Person view for my tutorials. Additionally, I've found it very useful as a head-mounted microphone to use when creating audio for other videos. Check out my review after 2 months of steady use: ruclips.net/video/qQQBoqZQ9dI/видео.html
i and some others think the picture is jumpy when looking both ways in a car etc. is it frame rate? or some other resolution or tracking problem? i rather strap the large camcorders atop my head sans balancing water basins on head. plus i like the ep6 better for not needing a cell phone to work it. although i believe it or they have tracking issues , its not a really very very bad but none the less it is a bad problem.
I just received a brand new Ordro EP7. This is my very short review and complaints: 1) great package. BUT I was not able to disassemble it back into peaces. For long term storage it would be good, to store it in the package. 2) footage is usable only, if taken outdoor. Indoor video & image not usable. Underexposed and lots of noise. 3) When turning head to right, camera captures my nose. Camera should extend further, or recording angle narrower.
Thanks, I'm glad I could help. I'm almost embarrassed that video is getting so many views that was when I was newer to RUclips and not very good at presenting yet. (Not that I'm much better now haha) plus my voice was going out 😬 anyway thanks for watching! I'll be reviewing the insta360 go 2 soon. I believe that one may be better for POV it's less resolution but I think it's sensor is going to be better but we'll find out I'll compare them side to side soon.
It you look a little closer, not to be a stickler haha, but the price didn't exactly go up. That same seller's future sales post you references has free shipping. He combined his average shipping costs with the price of the camera and changed to free shipping.
Thanks for the review, hope you can help with the following: I read that the EP7 auto powers off after 5 minutes of inactivity. Initially the manufacturer stated that this was a sleep mode and the device would wake up when pressing buttons on the remote. And that the auto-power-off time could be changed/turned off. After more questions, they restated that the 5min period is fixed and that you need to press the physical on/off switch again to turn to device on again after an auto-power-off. Given our use case is in an enclosure with limited quick/practical access to the on/off button, clarification would be nice. What is the concrete working of the auto-power off function? Can it perhaps be set to say 20/30 minutes or completely disabled? And is it a sleep mode, can it be woken up by the remote? And using the HDMI output, does that disable the auto power off? Thanks!
So I tested this, it seems the device automatically Powers down after 10 to 15. It doesn't seem to be possible to wake remotely because the Wi-Fi shuts off so you have no way to control.
Thanks for this. Is there any exposure controls ev comp, iso, shutter speed etc? I did notice that it had less blown out highlights than the Hero 6, but at a cost to shadows. Did you try pushing it in colour grading to see if anything could be salvaged from the shadows?
There is an exposure control via the app but that's literally the only picture adjustment available in the camera. I'm not professional enough to mess with color grading. I'm sure a better photographer could make the picture look a little bit better but the image sensor is not the best.
Thanks for this review! I bought it and I find really nice for what I needed. The only thing I would like to know is if it's possible to set a time recording like, programming it to starts a new file recording on every 2min, so it doesn't get enormous video files to handle with it. I didn't find any way to do it on the OD app. If someone have any glue, I would apreciate. Thanks!
Hi mate, I got this same camera, you review just absolutely correct. Just one concern you might check, my camera lense seem to be tilted to the left 3-5 degree. Do you feel the same with yours?
Not that I've noticed, I will check this more thoroughly next time I'm near the camera. It has been slightly tilted to one side or the other before but I just adjusted it on my head to make it straight. But I will test this by setting it on a flat surface and recording to see if mine is crooked as well, but I don't think so.
It stays on pretty well, I would think you would be able to jog. I've never had a problem with the camera not staying on my head but I'm not out running haha, if I shake my head up and down it will stay on pretty much no matter how hard I shake but if I shake my head side to side it will fly off if I do it with a lot of force. The headband is adjustable so it should fit a small or large head.
How do you get it to connect via WiFi so that I can do my adjustments? OD CAM doesn't work. I tried reaching out to the Manufacturer or the seller but no help. Did you have this problem?
After you power it on. You hold down one of the buttons either the record or the photo can't remember. but one of those buttons will turn on Wi-Fi and it'll say it in the earpiece Wi-Fi on. Then on your phone you have to connect to the Wi-Fi network. The password is 1 2 3 4 5 or 123456 can't remember for sure I think it's the one with the 6 after you connect to the Wi-Fi on your phone then open the app back up.
Hi there. Great review and very balanced and fair I feel. I wondered whether you'd be able to answer something for me. Do you know whether the internal microphone works when in live streaming mode? Would like to know whether it is compatible with Skype and other similar apps. Thanks.
I don't know of a live streaming mode in this camera. Maybe if it's connected to your PC in webcam mode you could live stream from it. I've had good results from the microphone in recording mode I don't know why it would be any different in webcam mode but I actually haven't tried it.
@@Crazypostman Someone I know has tried one and they say that when connecting it to a PC via USB cable they can use it as a webcam for Skype or Microsoft Teams but the microphone doesn't work. It does appear as a device in Windows 10 but doesn't actually work. It does work ok in recording mode though. I was wondering if this is by design or whether there's a problem. I've e-mailed Ordro to ask them anyway. Would be interesting to know if your one works ok when used as a webcam. Thanks again for your reply.
Sure I'll try it for you it'll be 8 to 10 hours before I can do it though. another thing to think about it doesn't have very good low light performance so you would want to be in a bright room or have a light in front of you.
@@robertseaton9698 you are correct I could not get any audio when it was acting as a webcam. I tried changing settings to no avail. Windows tried to repair it but said it's audio functions weren't responding.
@@Crazypostman Hi there. Ah that's interesting. I managed to contact Ordro via Amazon and they suggested connecting the camera to the pc via usb and then pressing the 'photo' button to confirm. They claim it should then work fully as a webcam. I'll suggest that to my colleague too, no idea whether it will make any difference but will be interesting to try anyway. Thanks.
Oh yeah....gopro is way better.......but the wearable cam is good cuz u can put it around your head and go with it and I bet its light also but the quality is not the same as gopro
Yes video quality is lower but it serves a purpose, if you need an easily wearable camera then this is what you would need. GoPros have head mounts but this looks more natural than putting a GoPro on your head lol
There's a standard 1/4" camera mount behind the earpiece. It should Mount to any camera mount. But I don't know specifically which one you would need for a bike helmet
Can you tell me some more about its live capabilities? For example, you can connect this via the usb connector to use it as a webcam for live streams. Also apparently you can access the wifi via rtmp for true wireless (albeit probably a bit delayed) streaming? Those are strong features I have not heard about in other reviews.
The USB port allows it to be a webcam so you could use OBS to go live pretty easily. It has a HDMI out on the back also if you can rig something up that way. The camera itself doesn't have any live features that I found. But OBS could be the way to go I've tried it and it works I have a mini Windows computer that folds up like a DS and will fit in my pocket for live streaming from it. But that does use up your USB plug and the battery only goes for around 1 hour. USB power delivery from the laptop might be a little low kind of iffy in this situation. Maybe you could buy a splitter and it would still work and charge at the same time but I have doubts That's possible.
@@Crazypostman It's good to know re the hdmi output! If the hdmi output is clean (ie they don't have a timecode, text or other junk over the top of the feed), that's very useful. Means you have the ability to put it through a usb hdmi capture card for better quality. Also thank you for your reply too! With a thin usb cable, perhaps it could be lightweight enough to use. According t o the product description you can charge and record, who knows for sure though.
No not officially, I suppose you could always screen record your phone displaying the live image but that wouldn't be very high quality and I don't think the sound comes through the app so you wouldn't have any sound.
Si se dieron cuenta que aparecer un OVNI en el min 3. 08 en el video sale de izquierda a derecha arriba de los árboles véanlo sé que está asombroso veanlo
Honestly I haven't ran it from start to finish on battery. But it seems okay I haven't felt like it's ran down too quickly. I would say it would do around 60 minutes. One benefit of this you can run it while it's charging with the power bank in your pocket That's something to think about.
Thanks for the quick reply buddy. 1 hours isnt to bad i suppose, and the power bank idea is brill. i do a lot or filming with Rc cars. I tend to fix my action camera onto my handset, but its surprising how much this effects your driving. I only seen this camera today whilst brousing the net and it looks pretty good. Is the 1080p and 60 fps acurate do you think ?
Yes GP video quality is better. EP 7 video quality is not as good but it's not bad especially with lots of light. But if you want a POV camera it's easier to wear the ep7 on your head then a GoPro head mount.
Not very easily but maybe possible, it has a webcam mode so if you plug it into a PC you can use it as a webcam but the audio doesn't work so you would have to have another input for your audio. So technically yes you probably could live stream it using something like OBS studio from a PC it just wouldn't be very easy to do
I can test this but it'll be a day or two. I've never recorded until the battery was completely dead. I don't mind testing this for you. Just remember you're getting kind of a low-end image sensor in this camera. Low light is pretty bad and it's HDR ability is not very good. But if you're outside in lots of light the image looks very usable.
Definitely do a GoPro 7 if possible. By the way I'm doing your battery drain test as we speak so far 4K 30 has been running for 1 hour and 40 minutes and it's still going.
As for the focus distance I've never actually tested the minimum but I would imagine if you stayed at least 12in / 35cm back I'm sure it would focus. Maybe even closer I just haven't tested
I have got this camera and extremely disappointed with , Iam a surgeon and I wanted to get up close phottage of surgical field,it has magnification feature work through the app connected by WIFI , the camera connection to WIFI can be unreliable and this is a big disadvantage, secondly it does not have auto focus and the image can be out of focus frequently, I do not know how to open the camera to adjust the focus, and you mention the problem with stabilization ,it is claimed to be 4k but it is far less resolution than that.it is work in progress the idea is good but it is a terrible camera with the current model.

a tough question, that's $100 more than I paid for it. I suppose if you really want a POV I found this one for 195 amzn.to/3kZ3tzV . It's footage is acceptable in 4k as long as you have lots of light. But at $230 you're getting into the range of a decent used GoPro you can pick up a used GoPro 7 silver even cheaper 199 on Amazon amzn.to/3f4zQJI less elsewhere, you can just slap one of those on your forehead with a strap.

Hello, ep7 can be a webcam to live stream, you pls find the steps on my channel, thanks.
@@Crazypostman You pls connect ep7 and a power bank, it supports video recording while charging.
I was thinking the app could livestream from your phone. But can the gopro livestream?
The EP7 can't livestream, But the GoPro can!
@@Crazypostman the gopro doesnt have a night vision?
Great review, thanks
thanks
Can you record to your phone via bluetooth
No not officially, I suppose you could always screen record your phone displaying the live image but that wouldn't be very high quality and I don't think the sound comes through the app so you wouldn't have any sound.
_thanks for info,but if you don't like EP7 can I have it?😅_
While it's not the best camera sensor in the world it's still useful to have if you need both hands free and a POV shot. 🙂
very good. thanks
Seems like the GP6 has better light sensitivity.
Hey bro! Can you live stream on Instagram or Facebook with this camera?
No
Good review
Si se dieron cuenta que aparecer un OVNI en el min 3. 08 en el video sale de izquierda a derecha arriba de los árboles véanlo sé que está asombroso veanlo
That's awesome video
Need a camera for hiking/camping feel like it would fall off my head constantly.
It stays on pretty good.... But if you get too active you probably will have problems. Maybe a GoPro with a body mount?
@@Crazypostman Yeah you're right. I'll check out gopros instead! Thanks for making this video
Nice honest review dude. I think for the price its good. What is the battery life like ?
@@tiborvon I think it operates best in the higher resolutions. I would say 4K 30 is its best. The 60 fps stutters sometimes.
Mmmmmmmm. 30 fps isnt really good enough for me, i need the 60. Especially as i often zoom in or slo mo when editing my video.
The EP7 is amazing but it seems it doesn't have video stabilization
It does have some stabilization. It's just not the best
GoPro 6 vs ORDRO EP7
The result is that GOPRO 6 wins ??
Yes GP video quality is better. EP 7 video quality is not as good but it's not bad especially with lots of light. But if you want a POV camera it's easier to wear the ep7 on your head then a GoPro head mount.
Can you use this for live streaming????
Not very easily but maybe possible, it has a webcam mode so if you plug it into a PC you can use it as a webcam but the audio doesn't work so you would have to have another input for your audio. So technically yes you probably could live stream it using something like OBS studio from a PC it just wouldn't be very easy to do
I'm interested ep7 becoz of handsfree..
Yes it creates a pretty good POV video as long as there's lots of light.
Go pro has more DR.
Ep7, Gimbal look defenitely "not there" compared to GP.
May be EP8 could have updated sensor, and gimbal too.
Price is fair.
i think the positive of ep7 is form factor.....i don't believe anything this small with this quality currently?
Low light capability and stabilization GP is better. While interms of vivid color EP7 is better.
Agreed, the ep7 low light is pretty terrible.
Well, I like the form factor but GP6 has better image quality
What is battery life? I mean if you keep recording then how many minutes or hours you can continue recording as 30fps and 60fps?
I've never actually tested it in that manner. I have gone close to an hour on 4K 30. So at least that
@@Crazypostman We want to buy it, but can you record on both 30 and 60 and would you reply how long it records on each charge?
I can test this but it'll be a day or two. I've never recorded until the battery was completely dead. I don't mind testing this for you. Just remember you're getting kind of a low-end image sensor in this camera. Low light is pretty bad and it's HDR ability is not very good. But if you're outside in lots of light the image looks very usable.
@@Crazypostman So if i have option to buy either this or Gopro 7, what is your suggestion to buy or buy both?
Definitely do a GoPro 7 if possible. By the way I'm doing your battery drain test as we speak so far 4K 30 has been running for 1 hour and 40 minutes and it's still going.
Can i use this record for oral surgery operations ? Can this camera focus closer distance?
it's not a very high quality camera sensor but in your situation you would be using lots of light so it would probably produce a decent picture.
As for the focus distance I've never actually tested the minimum but I would imagine if you stayed at least 12in / 35cm back I'm sure it would focus. Maybe even closer I just haven't tested
Thank you 👍
How conect with the smartphone ?
1 Download the app,
2 connect to camera Wi-Fi
3 open app
Crazypostman whats is name the app ? Thanks 🙏
@@nengahsuambawa8343 on Android it's called "OD Cam" blue icon
Crazypostman , i used ios
@@nengahsuambawa8343 sorry I have no experience with iOS.
EP7 is much more vivid in color than GP6.
camera nice
Hii i just bought this camera
I am from indonesia
Camera image just very noise. And no auto fokus
Quality like 3 mp camera .i felt
Yeah I think the cheaper units don't use high quality sensors. Possibly 720P upscaled
They still sell the ep7 online for 100.
Would you recommend paying $230 for this product as of today!
a tough question, that's $100 more than I paid for it.
@@Crazypostman thanks, I really need a POV ...but the huge jump in price for this cam is unbelievable...lol!
❤️👍🏻
GP6 seems bright than the EP7.
Greeting from Indonesia
Wow, greetings! Crazy how just a random guy making a video in some desolate corner of Oklahoma and it's seen in Indonesia!
@@Crazypostman i saw ads in my FB about ordro and i search in youtube,, i watch this video,, nice comparizon info,,
i still love Xiaomi Action Cam and Fimi Gimbal Cam
blacks are crushed on the ep7 but go pro is just awful with highlights and that. Ep7 in some ways looks better because its more consistant as go pro just blown out whites but the contrast is fine in the shadow.
Horizontal stabilization seems to be not the best..
EP 7 sound is better and quality video is more realistic, more natural!
U are smart
GoPros there made in china too they are called Grey cameras on eBay get a cheap price on eBay they come from China but they are not the same cameras that are to be sold in America market they are toned down so they do not record is good especially at night time full price to get a good camera US dealer and you know what on ebay and you got it cheaper for $119 so yeah quality is not US standard quality for cameras that is a Chinese standard for cameras and you're buying the ones that are sold in China ones that are sold actually in the United States camera dealer will be a lot better quality my China but are made for the standards for the United States because that's why some cost more because they are made for the standard of the United States the cheaper ones are not made for the standards of the United States and are not supposed to be sold here by eBay or anybody from overseas
