I was thinking of the thrifts type of videos too that you and LGR make - but yes I'd hold off until we see how the EP7 works, some of those charity shops are a bit on the dull side (in every sense of the word).
So if the camera has a native 4 MP sensor it isn’t shooting real 4K video anyway. A frame of 4K video is roughly 8 MP. The 20fps spec could be caused by the internal upscaling it’s performing while recording. 4 MP comes out to about 2.7K in video terms, so presumably that mode is the one using the sensor’s native resolution.
"Who would shoot vertical video?" Oh, don't get me started! Does anyone else shout at the television when one of those ridiculous portrait video clips turns up on the news?
I can understand portrait video for face-to-face video phone calls, but NEVER for anything else. We see in landscape vision, our eyes are horizontally next to one another, we do not have one eye above the other. Portrait video is totally incompatible with TV screens and computer monitors. It makes zero sense. It is an indication of a general dumbing down. When everyone used cameras to take photographs and videos they knew instantly that if you wanted a portrait picture instead of landscape all you have to do is to physically turn the camera through 90 degrees. But with phones, people expect the software, their apps, to be able to do these things. I remember asking someone, why don't you shoot video on your phone in landscape, and she said, "I don't know how to do it on this phone"! As I said, it's dumbing downm de-evolution. People are getting stupider and stupider.

Could you to a quick demo of using it to repair something ? I have looked for a head mounted cam to record service/repair work and this looks perfect to catch everything, but how well does it work at recording at arms length (50cm should be ok for this) or when I am looking at something a bit closer. Nothing fancy just a quick recording.

I feel like this would be pretty cool for car journalism coupled with a couple of go pro cameras. It could give you some cool shots of a drivers perspective while they talk about driving the car. Usually the up-top camera is too awkward for smaller hard-top cars and it has a weird perspective that doesn't feel natural. This feels a lot more natural.

Just bought Ordro EP7 camera. It's amazing! Very light & compact, sooting perfect 4k video! It has micro-HDMI output so it can be used for live outdoor streams, I guess. Will try to use this feature in my VLOG
Did anyone spot it or question it (as they well might if you had a phone held up)? Image quality looks fairly standard for this type of the product (always a bit over-sharpened in my opinion) but the colours look very nice on this. Very true to life.

I like it because driving your car with a camera on windshield it only showing one direction and being on your head you can look around and see more of your surroundings .
I'm sure that you've already seen tons of comments saying this, but I cannot watch the video; in the app, I get a "this video is unavailable on this device" error. In a browser, it just does nothing. Edit: works now.
Need some sorta image stabilization. Otherwise, a nice wearable camera. Not that I need it. But it's nice. Type-C port for charging and LED (or maybe IR LED?) for lighting on the right side would be nice too.
Hoping the image stabilized version is reviewed soon. I have been looking at this model on aliexpress and intend to use it for onsite repair work. Your video of this model definitely put the brakes on my purchase. My needs require stability and emulation by software isn't going to cut it. Thank you for saving me from wasting time and money on this model. Looking forward to your review of stabilized version!
This was an interesting video, I could possibly see myself buying the EP7 and using it to record paintball or Nerf games when there's an event going on near me here in the Riverina (NSW, Aus), since the gimbal stabilisation would help counteract the shakiness of a bobbing head when moving on the field. Also would be useful for when riding my cycle around town or such as well, in case something happens.
Sort of thing you'd probably want to wait a generation or two before you pick one up. I'd like at least 4K/24 personally, with image stabilization. Well, I say that, but I wouldn't really get much use out of it. Especially if they don't fix the perspective to get around glasses being visible on the side.
I had a dream once in which my normal, everyday vision appeared like the playback from a camera like this without any image stabilization. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary during the dream, just walked around and completed normal tasks. One of the worst headaches I've ever awakened with. Inherent image stabilization - something not to be taken for granted.
Great review Mat. Its amazing, but not a surprise that an awful lot of these mini budget cams sporting 4K never live up to that spec, esp. on their frame rate. I know its a U tube rescaling but apart from the jerky 4K video its res. quality (to me) looked nothing better (in fact a lot worse) than 1080P footage. On the other hand the audio is very good, and yeah who shoots vertical video on their phones - everyone almost!
Another negative is it's easier to see you speed as a dash cam replacement. They will get better, black and white and a ir head light might help a lot.
If the manual lists a 4MP sensor, then it doesn't even have enough pixels to produce a native 4K image at all, regardless of what tricks they play with framerate. 4K (in the most common and lowest-resolution variant) is 8.3MP. The "2.7K" mode would be the highest you could use and have roughly enough pixels to legitimately pull off, but based on the image quality it doesn't look like it's close to achieving that, either.
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for, I want a camera I can clamp to my hat bill when doing repairs on some machines or if I’m in a building alone. Incase I am blamed for something.
@@darajovanovic2714 FFMPEG is quite universal tool for video manipulation with many filters, one of them being deshake filter. Sadly there is no graphical interface to easily use it for most people. At one side it makes sense, it's so universal you probably couldn't even make anything like that user friendly. On other side there might be ways. Some programs use ffmpeg in background but usually offer only very basic file conversions, usually even with no filters to apply.

If this tech was more compact it would be better then body cams, often the issue with body cams is the events that take place are not always directly infront of the officers body and especially in close scuffles or shootings where the firing posture is at a 45 degree angle.
You've got your own set of auditors (police reactions to public photography) in the UK
They seem to love carting around "Look how big my Camera is" size.
Great video. I'm looking for a camera to film my puppet building and I think this would be perfect. Not much walking about involved so the stability issue won't be a big problem.
By the looks of it Mr. Techmoan has been assimilated by the Borg.
Retep4565 Yesr will it play on my switch
I'm getting major "Universal Soldier" vibes from this. I want one!
this would be ideal for recording my wheelchair view when out and about or any art projects i would need to get the battery pack though as 2 hours just isn't enough great video
Interesting that Amazon are now offering the ‘plus’ version of this with EIS for £119.
When at 10:30 he started walking and saying " now you notice one feature this camera is missing; image stabilization", I was like well driving up the shoddy UK roads (5:15 , wtf) already has shown that.
I've had one of these for a couple years now that I use when cycling as a kind of bicycle dash cam. Works great :)

Hi
I am very new in exploring technology, and often when I look for videos they blind me with science and I can't understand, regardless how many times I go over it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this demonstration, it was precise it was clear, my friend Zacit to me.
In the future if I'm looking for any technology has showed to check you out.
It was brilliant thank you you take care Now ❤️
look forward to the ocular implant review.
Techmoan at 60p? Yes please!
Huge fan; Thanks for all you do, Tech.
I can't watch this video. It says it's unavailable on this device (tried on both desktop and mobile)
Wouldn't play on mine this morning, but it's working now. Not sure if it changed anything, but it started fine after I set the resolution to 480 instead of auto.
@@HoleDweller Yeah. I could watch it too during the afternoon. Maybe some format conversion on the server side wasn't done yet
Watching a review of a 4k recorder in 360p because RUclips is awesome as always...
I get an error message on iPhone in USA: “This video is unavailable on this device.”
Interesting. Perhaps try and watch it via the web browser or try a thirdparty app like "NewPipe"
Got the same message when chrom-casting to my TV from a Samsung in Sweden. It was watchable directly on the phone though.
The USA is a foul place.
I had a surprise when I noticed you driving past my house on Schleswig way in Leyland ha ha. Love your channel im a retro tech fan too. I used to love going into second hand hi-fi shops in the 90s. I've still got a lot of technics separates and loads of different speakers. Those were the days.
It makes me subconsciously nervous watching you drive. Despite knowing better, my brain keeps thinking, "He's driving on the wrong side of the road!"
I’ll wait for your verdict on the 7 serie. That might be nice for biking videos.
Thanks for sharing.👍🏻
" This video is not available on this device." hmm never seen that before
Region locked to the UK for some reason
@@FnordOok I'm in Portugal, on a Samsung Galaxy. I can watch it
@@halfmanhalfpuppet3641 PORTUGAL, CARALHO! :)
@@halfmanhalfpuppet3641 odd.. well it's locked out of the US at least then. I had to fire up the VPN set to the UK to watch the video.
I'd buy it. 1080p recording was surprisingly good considering the cost 👍🏻

3:25 It seems to jiggle around a bit as your move your head. I hope that's not a problem in the video.

Just bought Ordro EP7 camera. It's amazing!
Very light & compact, sooting perfect 4k video!
It has micro-HDMI output so it can be used for live outdoor streams, I guess. Will try to use this feature in my VLOG
4:00 We are borg. You will be assimilated...
Resistance is futile
Or in the Doctor Who universe, "You will be upgraded. You will become like us. The Cyber Race shall reign supreme."
Did anyone spot it or question it (as they well might if you had a phone held up)? Image quality looks fairly standard for this type of the product (always a bit over-sharpened in my opinion) but the colours look very nice on this. Very true to life.
Says "This video is unavailable on this device." on my iPad Air2 iOS 13.3.1
2:04 I've noticed that in China they refer to a micro-sd card as a "TF card". I saw the same thing on my 3D printer and it was confusing at first. Any idea what TF stands for?
It's like the 1980's imagining what tech will be like in the year 2000. Doomed from the start.
Great video, as always. I'm in awe of your editing, it must take hours. Not a bad price for the features.
But ... whats the battery life on this device?
Wao, thats a sweet gadget, and I only see this thing getting better over time. Would be interesting to see some Hat / Cap with this sort /type of tech built in. It would make more sense, bcs you wont need that extra gear to mount it on your head, and field of view would be better. OIS should be default feature for devices like this and maybe some better night mode options.
That footage is straight up un-watchable! So unstable, I feel like I'm getting seasick
It's fine
There are such things as video stabilising apps. Just saying.
I think this is very watchable it's look like most auto-blogger type content.
This should be good way to show how ergonomic/comfort car is, if u get a shitty visuals u know this ride like a wheelbarrow
The walking footage was hard to watch, but the other stuff was pretty good.
Thanks for reviewing this device, I'll watch for an updated review of the new, image stabilized unit next.
After "This week," I expected him to say "I'ave been mostly..."

I bought it via eBay imported from China...Which was nice.
The footage in the car was far better than I expected, looking forward to see you review the model with stabalisation.
can't even watch it on my phone

Great review as always! It’s a challenge to find a product where budget and great combine.
Everything is reversed. You're driving on the wrong side of the road... And your car 😂😂😂
(How many trolls won't get this, I wonder?)
So glad that I'm not the only one who thought Borg when first seeing this camera.
Im really looking forward to the EP7 video with image stabilisation
The microphone on this little camera is actually quite amazing
What a super cool thing, love it. But I'm interested in the steady version works before buying one though.
Do you think stepping up from U3 card to a higher spec might allow video capture closer to the advertised?
Love your videos mate. Plus nice to see a bit of Dunkirk Hall near Moss Side off the dual carriageway. It was an unexpected highlight for me!
I like it because driving your car with a camera on windshield it only showing one direction and being on your head you can look around and see more of your surroundings .
Would love one for my workshop.
I like that you can see in the rear view mirror while shooting through the windscreen...
4k 29fps still looks fine to me. Having recently done some filming for security purposes, resolution is more helpful than frame rate, in my opinion
Except it's barely 3K ! Which you'ld expect of a 4Mpixel sensor. 1080p = 2K = 2Mpixels. 2080p = 4K = 8Mpixels .
For typical action cam usage, why not gopro+head/chest harness?
I had a dream once in which my normal, everyday vision appeared like the playback from a camera like this without any image stabilization. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary during the dream, just walked around and completed normal tasks.
One of the worst headaches I've ever awakened with.
Inherent image stabilization - something not to be taken for granted.
Thanks for the video Mat. I look forward to the video with the image stabilisation. Best wishes.
For stabilization you can use ffmpeg with vidstab filter (vidstabdetect + vidstabtransform) or just simpler (probably not so good) deshake filter.
What is deshake filter? Is it the special tool?
@@darajovanovic2714 FFMPEG is quite universal tool for video manipulation with many filters, one of them being deshake filter. Sadly there is no graphical interface to easily use it for most people. At one side it makes sense, it's so universal you probably couldn't even make anything like that user friendly. On other side there might be ways. Some programs use ffmpeg in background but usually offer only very basic file conversions, usually even with no filters to apply.
I believe you mentioned the spy glasses at the start. I had those and my problem was the camera set too high so I'd have to hold my head down more than normal. I also have the Bluetooth earpiece, again another problem was it was too loose on the ear and kept falling off. I think I'll try this, thanks
Took a while but this video is finally available for me to view. 😁
