Honestly you‘re right there’s nothing to argue about the fact that it is wider on the body but for me and a bunch of guys that i‘m playing is pastel and factory the „pay to win“ and i think for some others out there as well because of the similarities it shares with the 99 and in some sense with the iron sights (and im not taking the weapon body into account just the pure iron sights) on the stock being round and straight on pastel perfection

I think it's more about the reticle. Two straight poles for the irons feels better than the curved ones in my opinion.

I got it randomly, and have settled on it as my preference. I like the extra space right around the crosshair. Feels more useful than the other stuff to me.

I like the "Arctic" skin equipped on the CAR since it reminds me of the R99 skin in the Season 4 BP which I'll never ever get :')

It's the only one I use anymore, I have the reactives, 2 base game legendaries, and a recolour. It's a testament to how temporary most event skins can be when there's pay to win skins
I use arctic on every weapon, in my white office. So clean!
season 3 had a few bangers in it thsts the season I started I still use the iced out pathfinder skin and the banner frames for gibby and octane. I also still use octane blue rareity skin once in a while.
season 4 tho the r99 skin is the best p2w iron sight in the game I'd argue. i use it over the season 7 level 110 skins the iron sights are good on them and they look cooler but the s4 skin has the best iron sight hands down.
There’s more around it sure but the actual sight itself has more view to it and personally for me that makes tracking a whole lot easier
A legitimate question: who uses guns for their irons sights, excluding the Wingman? Most of the time you’ll find a Holo or 1x in a bin 20-30 seconds later, and on the guns it matters for, like shotguns and SMG’s, you’ll usually end up hipfiring. Obviously there are exceptions, but I don’t see why people would waste resources for a minor advantage rather than use skins they ENJOY VIEWING, which is the point of skins. I just don’t get it
Edit: Ok apparently this is a very heated topic and I suppose that yes, for some people having clean iron sights works much better than any 1x or Stock sight. Interesting
Tbh man I play ranked and is d1 and every time I switch to a weapon in someone’s box they always have some type of p2w skin. So there’s your answer.
i do. On some guns like the 30-30 repeater, sentinel or longbow good iron sights make a HUGE objective difference. most importantly they give me more confidence. And that leads to better aim, decision making etc. If that results in me surviving 2% more hot-drops. then that's hella worth it the investment.
stopped using most the 1x sights in pubs so I get better at using guns off spawn without attachments and genuinely feel like its helped so much, used to hate the havoc, hemlock, 30-30, flatline, lstar iron sights etc but now it doesnt feel nearly as detrimental and so much more confident jsut finding a gun and ammo off drop and fighting in ranked and pubs.
It’s a combination of preference and what objectively gives you an advantage. I can’t hit a thing with the wingman ironsights however when I play on my Smurf to get my friends through diamond, the stock skin feels 10x worse.
off drop fighting maybe, if an enemy lands with and you pick up a gun that has a bulky design and iron sight that you do not feel comfortable with (default r9 and wingman skins for example) your chances of winning that fight is slightly lowered as opposed having a cleaner iron sight and also I personally enjoy using the gun without the optic sometimes so having a nice iron sight helps

I think it has to do with the iron sights. Specifically the straightness right below the two aperture prongs(dk what to call em) the original has like a W with spaces below the prongs left and right but that skin to the right is flat below the prongs. I feel like that helps level your aim more.
If I knew this before. I wouldn't have wasted 1200 crafting materials on factory new 😔

i got factory new from pack, not gonna lie, i hate those iron sight so much that i never pick car in game without scope on

This is so weird cause I had the one skin that came with the Ash release bundle and just sucked with the car, then recently got the factory new and have improved drastically since I've started using it. Idk I think it's all preference but I don't think it's that bad

having vertically more space between the weapon and the red dot is one of the biggest competitive benefit a weapon skin can provide imo.
the stuff left and right is rather in the peripheral vision means not that important. same for r99 "rule of law" btw still ppl prefer it. yes enemies can hide behind it, just like behind the stock skin. thats why you should generally not ads for long right? :)

I would say that it’s more of a sidegrade than an upgrade, everytime i pick up a car that has this skin, i cannot see shit with it because its more of a preference.
I find it years easier to aim with pastel perfection than the stock model. That little curved iron sight sucks ass

i just use it for the middle part because by the time i realise there is someone on my left or right and try to kill them they will 1clip me. if they are not in the middle of my reticle there is no point of seeing more for me
Agreed. I have both, Factory New and Sour Squeeze, and prefer the latter (and despite the base optics). SS just makes it seem easier to hit and track your targets when all you've got are iron sights.
I feel it's better than regular iron sights because you see more around the dot: that's objectively undeniable, the Square on the pastel perfection skin around the dot leaves more room for vision than the U-shaped one of the regular skin. That's why lots of people prefer it and I prefer it myself. While the area covered on the pastel perfection may be higher, where it actually matters, it is in fact lower, so that's why I feel it's worth crafting.
I'm glad you go over this because I don't get this kind of information from anybody else.

The only thing that matters here is the reticle. Sure some prefer the twin pole than a standing reticle. but if you look at what's supporting the reticle, you'll see the clear difference. The stock one has a round standing pole, but its surrounding support is hollowed out visually so you can see your target. The Lulu skin, twin pole is supported by a huge flat box that takes away 50% of your visual. That's huge.
Personally i think it's still better, considering what's worth for me in the topic of iron sights, is how much room does it have around the crosshair, not necessarily if it's a bit bigger on the peripheral vision side. So to sum it up for me : More room around the central dot = more better. like with "The Continuum" Spitfire skin for example.
To be honest.... I love this skin's iron sights.

Better doesn't always mean less on-screen bits when ADS, although it usually does. It often has to do with how the eye is able to naturally pick up on the front sight post through the rear sight aperture/notch, and how easily it is to track objects through the sight picture.
The default skin for the CAR may be less obscuring, but it's also very busy. I've never used the Pastel Perfection skin, but I definitely think I would. The vertical lines of the rear sight block more-or-less line up with the front sight post, drawing the eye in.
agree with your opinion, and tbf i have 3k crafting metals unused and havent crafted any car skins, but seeing the comparison i would take the pastel over base skin
Just a small difference doesn’t mean it’s bad.
It *does* look like it’s got a little bit of a cleaner iron sight if you’ve already acquired your target, but the extra width is undesirable. It might still help some people better with the sight though.

Once you are aiming in you should already have a general idea of what's in front of you, making the spacious sight a lot more preferable. The tiny space blocked on the right doesn't really counter that imo

Definitely think it’s more about the reticle part itself but I get your point. I don’t think the extra space on the side matters too much since most of it is underneath the sight. If it gets in the way then you’re most likely aiming too high.
I got this skin in the beginning of S12 and I was very excited to use it since I noticed the iron sight looked different but as soon as I went to firing range I despised it, it blocks so much around the dot that I have never tried using it on BR, whats weird is that 2 of my friends prefer it over stock, and when I play with them they constantly ask for me to give them that skin when they pick up a CAR, they're confused on why i think is much worse than the stock iron, so I'ma send them this video to show them.
the sight itself being more open definitely makes a difference but not enough to choose it over a different skin you might like better
I crafted Pastel Perfection because of a band called Pastel * Palettes . The iron sight was just a bonus tbh (Pastel palettes is a Japanese band in an anime called BanG Dream)
Noticed this before with comments you've made about ironsights. You put space around the gun above the actual sight. But for seemingly most people, it's the actual sight that's more important. Hard to objectively say which is more important but most people seem to prefer to be able to get a clearer view for beaming the guy in front than for seeing the next guy they might be shooting. Only exception is the wingman because of the weird way you basically aim during the recoil.
I love pastel perfection for the colors. I absolutely HATE the iron sights on it. I have that skin and the one with better iron sights and I honestly like the empty space it gives you on the sides of the irons for the other skin
idk, not having that rounded part blocking the enemies body makes it a lot easier to track targets
This makes sense. I've been using that skin for a couple months after I saw it recommended, but just today I was thinking to myself that it actually sucks.

it is definitely preference, i always hated the car, but i crafted the skin, and now i shred with the iron sights, i could never use it with stock iron sights before but holy shit im goated with the new ones

I think you got it all wrong, you want an ironsight which can help you TRACK the enemy, not see if they're to your left or right. I personally don't give a shit if my weapon blocks all the view on the bottom of my screen as long as the ironsight is more like a reddot than a flatline ironsight.

i care more about the look of the gun rather than what small of a advantage it gives me. These ''pay to win'' skins just dont really make a difference and having ugly guns just isn't worth it in my opinion.

I crafted the pastel perfection thinking I would like it more and I absolutely hate it! I really do feel like I lose so much visibility looking through it's iron sights and couldn't beam anybody for the first game I tried it. Switched back over to the original iron sights the following game and dropped 14 kills and 3700 dmg LOL
I used to hate CAR
iron sights, but now I personally don't mind them. The CAR is way better for hip firing anyways, so ADS is less needed than maybe a Flatline.

I don’t know if anyone noticed this but the other legendary skin is actually skinnier than the factory new and the original so if you use a red dot or a holographic You can see more which is the only skin that does that

I held off on crafting the Pastel because of the same reason you said, but I got it recently and personally it feels way better. I'm not a fan of how the original ironsights have a weird double dip/U shape going on, the straighter sight feels better.
I wish there were more “weapon” looking skins in the game. So many look like I’m using a banister from a Victorian era home as a weapon rather than an actual gun.
Or they look like one of those toy guns I had as a kid where you pull back a cocking mechanism to shoot those rubber darts that stick to the metal fridge

I bought the pastel perfection skin because I liked the color scheme a lot and once I got into my first game and grabbed it and seen the iron sights I was disappointed. I don’t even run the skin anymore because the sights are so bad. With a scope the skin is great because it removes the blocky backend but it just wasn’t worth dealing with the iron sights in the early game for me. Now I just use the epic tier one from the battle pass for this season, I think it uses the stock iron sights though.
I kinda want to see some Apex gameplay with an eyetracker to see which parts of skins actually prohibit vision. I'd agrue that everything that isn't in the center of the screen, let's say a circle that covers 5-10% of the screen, is completely irrelevant when aiming down sight.
They should add some feature where you can change weapon skins from players' current collection in firing range to test each of their iron sight
I think the CAR has the worst irons of all the SMGs, but if I had to pick, I’m going with the stock irons all day. I run the sour squeeze skin and tried the pastel skin yesterday and I felt like it’s way too bulky.

the car doesnt really have a crazy pay to win ironsight yet, just checked the "Judgement Day" skin which was included in a bundle with a skin of Ash and its the same as Pastel one
i legit just like the colors on pastel i couldn't care less about iron sights. I need the extra zoom from the blue reflex sight to use the car well

Either way, the skin from the pirate event was the best, it took away the bolts on the side.

As someone who uses factory new because I think the skin… looks… pretty… you know… the reason we’re supposed to use em, I can say I definitely think it’s got a much bulkier iron sight, it’s noticeably bad but, don care, skin pretty.
sight picture is more important than screen blocked thats why the classic is over the holo, why the Brusier is over the 1x-2x and the Ranger over the 2x-4x
personally, I do prefer these iron sights over the stock, but I do agree that they cover a lot more of your visibility
No just no the pastel is still better with the normal iron sight i couldnt hit shit now i can at least hit my shots with it but i guess that doesnt even matter because often people will use optics like 1 or 1-2 or 2 on it so yeah its a 50/50
I prefer the skin over the default cuz I think the space in the middle makes it easier to see but yeah not everybody likes it and it's just up to personal preference

Were I still regularly playing, and paying for that matter, I think I would prefer the legendary over the stock because something about that u shaped sight really messes with me.
i crafted the moghany one, the gunmetal and wood one, it has the stock ironsight but looks a lot better than the other ones

I disagree, if you look closely the curved part on the bottom of the default weapon skin takes away approximately 20% of the view on the iron sight compared to the legendary weapon iron sight. You can clearly see that in 0:22
I rarely run sights unless it’s a bruiser or digi, but I hate stock iron sights on the CAR, pastel skin is the only reason I can still use the CAR
I really hate that the gaming community has exploited cosmetics so hard that theyre pratically pay to win now; however, whats worse is that these big gaming companies not only let it happen, but encourage it, just to line their pockets. Its really sad. I miss when these games used to be about skill rather than just buying and exploiting cosmetics

That’s what I meant sorry I craft them aswell and those battle pass crafting points when you change your region to Belgium are so handy .only usually spent coins on battle pass ,I’d probably only pay for a skin if it was a old reactive one which returned but don’t think that will happen

I always see the p2w skins better just because of the iron sight, not the size of the skin or something like that, at least for me is easier to track people and land my shots if my iron sight is simpler than just a circle or an U 😅 (sorry for the bad English, not my main language)

I got this skin out of an apex pack and after using it I can definitely say it’s worse. The design and colours are cool but the actual sight is more cluttered and also feels blockier in general. Honestly unplayable
