11:57 To clarify, I'm saying that any and all unapplied spells left in people's inventories from they days they used to drop should become tradable again. With the way I said it, it sounded like I only wanted to make spells tradable so that my next point would make sense. If you have spells in accounts you haven't logged into in years, you shouldn't have to worry about them disappearing anymore, that system was dumb.
also: spells themselves should be all year round, but not the actual effects you see in game. i think doing that would just add in more visual clutter and make the stupidly high prices for spells even more stupid.
I'm of the opinion that not making something available just because the people who already have it will either feel less special or lose theoretical money is stupid. It's a video game, not a your monopolized stock portfolio. P.S. For how small this channel is, this video was really well made 👍
i own a spelled item i bought for around 30ish keys and i agree, i loved spelled items and allat but seeing all the spell traders cry if they came back would be funny
I really want spells back, I hope for it every halloween. Lots of good new ones on the workshop, I would love to add a spooky medi-beam to my medigun. I don't really care for items keeping their value, but I would still be happy with all the old spells no longer being obtainable and only having new ones.
I felt your pain, when you said, that you miss your Spiral Sallet. I used my Halloween boss hats and most of the hats i got from Poker Night 2 for halloween transmute to get fucking bird heads, which I got bored of pretty quickly.
@@JuneJuleyVT I heard that you could still get the items if you play the game through the Steam Family system. I'm not sure if it would be worth it with the 365-day cooldown, though.
As a spell weapon owner, I REALLLLLY want them back into the game. Whether they just implement the system for it again or come out with brand new spells, it would be so good to get them again. If they did just add the old ones back, for existing ones, they should get a new quality, like how all pre 2011 crafted items became 'Vintage" when the crafting costs were lowered. Having them become like "Cursed" or "Erie" or something would be a nice touch. Even if original spelled items could be used all year to distinguish them would be cool. Distunguish them apart enough with cool stuff and they'll still be saught after. For Halloween in general, I think that they should introduce a poll a month before the event, so people can vote for what maps stay and go from the map pool. There's wayyyy too many in rotation now, and a big chunk of them aren't interesting or fun. Completing the contracts is also a huge undertaking. But with less maps in the pool, have spells be obtainable from halloween pumpkins as a very tiny chance to drop, like the rate of unusuals or something. Also massively agree that a lot of the items should be declassified as halloween restricted, so much stuff never gets used bc of how tame it is for newer halloween stuff
oh man... thanks for making this vid- i genuinely forgot i still have a mercs muffler with the die job spell applied to it! its a funny thing to have applied it too but its probably my favourite cosmetic in the entire game :) the old halloween events still hold a special place in my heart though... there really was nothing like them back in the day and those old gift messages were always so much fun to keep an eye out for! i have no idea how i got my spell originally, i probably found it on the map somehow... but i did recently repaint my scarf and the spell still stayed on it so thats a good thing to know i spose! :) thanks again for the vid, new players must be reminded of what we have lost
In my personal opninion you could add them back (with a downside to the market). 1. Every halloween a player has a chance to recive a spell from the halloween packages. 2. Drop chance to get them is EXTREMLY LOW (the same chance for an australium to drop). 3. Only one Spell can be found during Halloween of any type once per player. This is there so that the spells still someehat exist and still could be applied to new or older cosmetics (it may reduce the value of some items but this is still reasonable as it will be difficult to obtain one).
My take on this is to re-add the Halloween spells but make them _different_ from the originals (maybe give the old ones a special effect like with vintage items?) so that it won't affect traders and so that the average person can actually get to use them.
@@RomanCollapses during halloween? most halloween maps/cosmetics already make the game a shitshow if you aren't playing on a decent pc. I don't think it would really change anything.
Don't forget the collector 's kits I will never be able to afford to complete my collector minigun collection... No collector brass beast, no collector Natasha... Waaaaah! (Congas away as Johnny Bravo with a Halloween spell dyed hair and spelled normal strange minigun)
I think an even easier solution is make any spelled item that already exists have the effect at all times, and make any new spelled items only active during scream fortress/full moon
I absolutely LOVE voices from below on medic! I see it around from time to time, and find that its such a shame any item that had potions on it always has a crazy price due to hoarders and "Whales" that deprived the market of the spells.
I think a good idea to bring Spells back into the fold could be to have all the new effects be Enchantments instead and keep the originals as Spells. It'll preserve rarity of those items, plus you can detach Enchantments from Halloween specifically and have them be another cosmetic category, like Unusuals are.
I've bought spells for high amounts before, and low amounts when they were still coming out back in 2014. Guess what, I'd still want those same old spells back. Small price to pay to get funny spells back.
I'm actually lucky enough to own an unusual with a deeper voice spell. Although finding someone that would pay extra is tricky because of how obscure knowledge about spells is becoming.
I was a collector of spelled weapons and cosmetics! I still have all of them and In all my time I have only lost two. It was my first and second I ever got, I lost them to a scammer. Though their BP was trade locked and they were permanently banned so even if I can't the stuff back I take comfort in the fact they can't do anything with them. Still it is a shame, it was on an unusual front runner, I believe it had Team Flamey foot prints and the effect was orbiting planets. The other was on a baby faces blaster, I think it had exorcism on it.
If they had a crate that dropped only spells, and it dropped every year, that'd be cool. I already have tons of spelled items so I'm kinda sabotaging my own wealth, but it'd be nice to be able to put spells on the items that didn't exist until after spells were discontinued.
If only those spells were available so that newer players like I (I joined at the tail end of 2022 after I got my PC for Christmas of that year) can acquire them and use them.
oh the high-end traders can sod off.. imo, they already have australiums, stranges, unusuals, killstreaks, & warpaints (and any combination) to sell for.. a bundle of SHINY pennies. i think they can loose a particle effect that can only be seen for a MONTH at a time sides, after digging into all the craftable/droppable items that were lost from this.. crist why? it'd be perfect to have them return. heck, what'd also be a cool change is if halloween restricted cosmetics could see other halloween restricted cosmetics year around (akin to what you had suggested with the pyro-vission goggles). or at least tie that option to the contract earnable halloween items. IE the merasmas, monoculus, & HHH head/hat cosmetics
Tbh I would like spells to come back. I keep getting friend requests to buy my spelled painted/foot-printed veil but like I wish it was an unusual veil cause I have a strangifier for it so to have all of them on a cosmetic is pretty cool. Having another ref sync is pretty cool I was thinking they should unlock all previous crates and make a crafting recipe that would bring back 5 crates using refine but it random and will usually spawn crates that are currently being dropped. So more gambling
I remember joining a server for trading these and finding the meme channel was the edgiest place on the channel that I'm pretty sure got me out on a watch list for even being in, good times
Since collecting all the stars of the Halloween Contracts has no meaning besides finishing them faster, especially when considering that those contracts will reset each year, then how about they'll reward the player with a random tradeable halloween cosmetic or tool? or perhaps even introduce the spells again in such a way? Collecting all the stars will take time and effort, and the bonus reward for doing so will probably also be only one item a year - this will give every player dedicated enough with completing the contracts to 100% a chance of winning a spell, if they wish to do so that is, while at the same time also keeping the prices on spelled items in check, but that might not be the most ideal way of handling the whole spells and spelled items situation. xD It was nice to hear about your ideas and opinions on the topic of spells and the ways one could introduce them into the game again and how it could be handled after.
Personally, I just think they should just have spells drop either from the gargoyles (make it so that a more special gargoyle drops every so often alongside the regular ones; like a super gargoyle that acts like the old gift too) or be a reward from packages/transmuting/bonus uncrate. If we want to try to maintain the "special" aspect of old ones, we can mark old ones (like the text for "limited winter 2014 items" and such) or even make newer ones untradable, so that the market is at least a little less flooded; we have more spelled items but we don't have the spells proper on the market. Personally I'd rather they just put them in all the way though. I feel like the only reason the spells became "rare" was because valve didn't know where to implement them in the big overhaul with the contracts and just never got back to it; they weren't meant to be rare in the same way old unboxes or unusual are. Also so agreed on the achievement thing lol, I miss so many of my achievement hats
I feel like a really easy way they could not screw over traders AND bring back the spell system is by making every item that has a spell before the update to bring them back have the Haunted quality (or a new entirely different quality akin to Vintage)but who knows I'm not a tf2 trading expert
I collect spelled Alien Swarm Parasites, I've been collecting them for years now. When I first started I could them for 2-4 keys each, nowadays I'm lucky to get one for 10 keys
as I see it it's a very missed opportunity that the Spells that give your weapons special attributes isn't attached to the contractor somehow as a reward for doing some task that it asks of you
I think another good way to bring spells back without destroying the market would make be to make spells drop via a Halloween Contract. Halloween map contracts need only one star to unlock so maybe they can add special 5, 10, 15 star contracts which reward a random spell for completion. Also to make absolutely sure that the traders don't get into a fit over the spell economy they can do what they did with the Gibus and have spells that existed earlier than this hypothetical Halloween update become "Undying Spells" or something.
Spells have always annoyed me. I had *one* when they came out- a green flamethrower effect. I applied it to my strange Rainblower and for all of a week or so it had an awesome green fire effect. Until they patched it out so that the Rainblower couldn't be affected by that spell anymore and I just lost it entirely.
Simple solution for the traders/collectors: Rerelease spells with "2.0" in the name. Values might go down a bit as many people will care more about the actual effect and won't mind having "Exorcism 2.0" on their weapons, for example, but collectors would absolutely still value ones that *don't* say 2.0
I think bringing the spell system back could be done if they make it aquirible in a different way, kinda like Festive vs Festivized weapons, that way the items still have immense value as being old and vintage in a way (as well as potentially being a luxury item), but also the newer generation of TF2 players can enjoy it as people did in the past (I for one, joining during tough break, had JUST missed chances to get spells sadly)
They could make a system that og halloween spells that appear during their respective have their own symbol and recurring one's that show up again after the event they're introduced in have a different symbol. That way traders are happy, the rest of the tf2 fandom is happy, and Valve
They could reintroduce 20 to 25% of the spells, new or old, per year. Then have a 4 or 5 year rotation of spells in perpetuity. Include texts for new spells that says "2025 Edition" or smth.
friend had an idea for wave 666 to be added to mann up every halloween for a chance to get a spell for a reward at the same chance as an australium on expert
Bring back the spells as new indexes, change the old spells to have (original) in their name. Any of the original spells or items these spells are applied to get the yellow "limited" text like the original hats and old festives but instead of yellow it's the same green as the haunted quality. Boom fix'd. Sincerely the guy with a spelled Collector's Nessie's Nine Iron that makes the unusual you unboxed this halloween look like massed flies.
I think that thanks tot he Engine upgrades, we SHOULD get the Halloween spells back as Item Drops from Halloween Cosmetic and Warpaint crates. Maybe also as a new Gargoyle crafting option during Halloween as well. maybe even a random award for Contracts or level up during Halloween as well. I don't care about the traders, I want more options.
I miss these. I still have several items with spells applied! Unfortunately one is the cow mangler with pumpkin bombs… which overrides the effect so it’s useless. Lol, I have a Nostromo on a Palmer with green flames I renamed “Chemical thrower” though, and it’s the best thing ever! It also applies on full moons. I also remember the gifts too. Though I love having exclusive items, I miss them so greatly I’d be willing to give up that exclusivity if it meant I and everyone else could enjoy the different spells again. I was sad when the spells I had Left unapplied in my inventory disappeared… they could just make them super rare or something…
The issue with reintroducing spells lies in the items they could be applied to. Objectively, spelled effects on skins or newer hats often just look... unattractive. Some of these exist due to a myriad of glitches and unholy summoning circles conjured by the dark forces of VaticanCity. Admittedly, that's part of what makes them unique. Seeing a Gun Mettle skin with a spell applied is undeniably cool, but if spells became common, good lord, it would be heinously ugly on every modern item. I understand the sentiment, though-I remember starting out in this game and seeing Strange Originals on the community market for $60. Now they're $300-$350. The rarity and absurd cost of Double-spelled Originals or Australiums, to the point where they're as expensive as buying a car, is almost comical. If spells could simply be applied to any item at will, it would certainly lower the inflated prices of some of these rarities. But in the end, Valve is unlikely to take any significant action. If they do reintroduce the system, it'll probably be in the unfortunate predictable way we all expect.
bought a Strange Killstreak Carbonado Botkiller Rocket Launcher Mk.I with pumkin bombs and eyelander with exo. by acident from the steam market in 2015. guess I lucked out lol
@@kking1173 yeah that would be really cool, I feel the same but also on the huo-long heater. I'm really sad they didn't get that as a spell, I thought of an interesting in my head pseudo spell for it where the outer fire ring part of it is a spooky green and the bottom of the ring is like a green pentagram forming if that makes sense.
I really wished valve would bring back being able to obtain spells like these, even if they would maybe be changed to be different from the originals. Current market is so manipulated by malicious traders that want to take advantage of people wanting to discover spells, it's sad and horrible.
These kinds of videos on the old halloween spells always make me sad, it's what the vast majority of people want, it would finally be something of value and notoriety added to the game, it would add more players to the game, all good things. But they will just flat-out never do it out of pure laziness since the only other drawback is that preserved rarity but there are many ways to keep that rarity towards current spelled items. Between a new quality similar to "vintage" to things that are tradable will always have value despite a not tradable or marketable available version. Hell, one way to actually increase value of spelled items but unfortunately drastically reduce there numbers would be to be able to transmogrify 3 spelled items for 1 random spell like halloween transmutes, or maybe even a trade-up where it will cost 10 but the more of 1 kind of spell the higher the chance of getting it. My point is they won't do it cause they won't do anything and it has nothing to do with preserving rarity.
I adore spells, not so much the price. I hate that hoarders and delusional people are ruining them, the spells extractor is an idea but i dont think it would make spells cheaper, it would make lower tier spells cheaper yes but it would ruin the value of post lifes or very high tier spelled items which deserve their value for their rarity or because of the fact they are anomalies and shouldn’t even exist in the first place. If spells are to be added again they should be different than og spells, traders get to keep their high value shit and the people that dont want to spend an entire decent all class unusual’s worth of keys in a funny hat with purple flames only visible in official matches for about 1/12 of the year get their spells.
In my opinion the "existing" unapplied spells that are still untradable till this very day should become tradable, becouse they were dropped when the spells were a thing, it only makes sense that way, no introducing new ones or dropping og spells, just make existing unapplied ones tradable, Case closed.
Paid 180 keys for a haunted cursed voodoo sniper soul with corpse grey footprints and voices from below worth it? yeah, someone's trying to sell a unique equivalent for 250 keys lol spell market is dumb
Spells WILL NOT COME BACK. There is a clear economy surrounding them, and there would be 0 incentive to ever release it back since it wasn't being sold by Valve directly.
Economy of the game is smuggling or bot type nowadays. Metal is dead. You cant craft new hats. So why we should care? Or we can just make old spells glow stronger, or else benefits.
I wouldn't say metal is dead, if anything it feels more like a proper cents item, get enough and you can me strange weapons and strange parts and also plenty of non unusual outfits for your Merc it's just not something to turn reliably into keys anymore

Include texts for new spells that says "2025 Edition" or smth.
friend had an idea for wave 666 to be added to mann up every halloween for a chance to get a spell for a reward at the same chance as an australium on expert
thx 4 letting the new gens know bru
Bring back the spells as new indexes, change the old spells to have (original) in their name. Any of the original spells or items these spells are applied to get the yellow "limited" text like the original hats and old festives but instead of yellow it's the same green as the haunted quality. Boom fix'd.
Sincerely the guy with a spelled Collector's Nessie's Nine Iron that makes the unusual you unboxed this halloween look like massed flies.
love your cruelty squad demo man cosplay
I think that thanks tot he Engine upgrades, we SHOULD get the Halloween spells back as Item Drops from Halloween Cosmetic and Warpaint crates. Maybe also as a new Gargoyle crafting option during Halloween as well. maybe even a random award for Contracts or level up during Halloween as well.
I don't care about the traders, I want more options.
16:39 I AGREE I MISS MY GIBUS AND MERCENARY BADGE PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES 😭
I expeianced the deep voice thing with an engie in MvM once, I was so confused the engies voice was so strange, now i know why :o
Yep, thanks for increasing price of my spelled items
or, just have new spells. that way it doesnt fumble with old spells
If they do reintroduce the system, it'll probably be in the unfortunate predictable way we all expect.
yee i wish spells were back. and old unus too.
i spend recently like 250 keys on spelled items..
Could try to put wave 666 on Mann up and make spells but make them drop more rare than any Australium
bought a Strange Killstreak Carbonado Botkiller Rocket Launcher Mk.I with pumkin bombs and eyelander with exo. by acident from the steam market in 2015. guess I lucked out lol
i want to have green fire idc what anyone says cmon
Green fire do be pretty cool, I have it on my nostromo napalmer
I want to see spectral flames on a Dragon's Fury.
@@kking1173 yeah that would be really cool, I feel the same but also on the huo-long heater. I'm really sad they didn't get that as a spell, I thought of an interesting in my head pseudo spell for it where the outer fire ring part of it is a spooky green and the bottom of the ring is like a green pentagram forming if that makes sense.
underrated channel
I really wished valve would bring back being able to obtain spells like these, even if they would maybe be changed to be different from the originals. Current market is so manipulated by malicious traders that want to take advantage of people wanting to discover spells, it's sad and horrible.
this is why i do not buy items for video games, especially this one. it's a racket
Paid 180 keys for a haunted cursed voodoo sniper soul with corpse grey footprints and voices from below
worth it? yeah, someone's trying to sell a unique equivalent for 250 keys lol
spell market is dumb
Why We are not strike to get back the spells to be obtaniable
its simple how we can get them back without fucking up economy, just add new effects, thats it..... where is my nobel prize?
Spells WILL NOT COME BACK. There is a clear economy surrounding them, and there would be 0 incentive to ever release it back since it wasn't being sold by Valve directly.
Trash opinion.
Economy of the game is smuggling or bot type nowadays. Metal is dead. You cant craft new hats. So why we should care?
Or we can just make old spells glow stronger, or else benefits.
I wouldn't say metal is dead, if anything it feels more like a proper cents item, get enough and you can me strange weapons and strange parts and also plenty of non unusual outfits for your Merc it's just not something to turn reliably into keys anymore
word
Thell prob never re add them cuz of item scema exploits.
Like We so do whit the bots to kick all the bots
Wait I have a festive FAN with exorcis, how much is that worth?
no they dont
Spells don't add
W vid!
Agreed
