Thanks! What a truly inspirational ride. Kudos to both Ollie and Conor for showing us that no matter the conditions, we can conquer any challenge. Very motivational for sure!!! Thanks GCN for another excellent video. 😍
Thanks so much for your support! Conor and Ollie absolutely loved making this and without the support of the GCN community it wouldn’t be possible. 🫶
Like father and son)
Sepp, thank you so much! That's super kind of you - really appreciate the support. Loved making this one (despite the conditions!) plenty more to come! All the best, Conor
A fantastic “Connor & Son” adventure.
Always nice to get out with my son! Thanks for watching, Conor
I saw this comment first and actually believed it, until I recognised Ollies voice.
Thank you for capturing what it's like to do a slightly stupid adventure together with a friend on a bike! All the moments stopped or going slow in the rain, at a shop, eating a huge meal, wringing gloves out, eating whatever your friend brought, keeping the morale up - they're just as much of the story as the drone shots of the incredible landscape you get to ride in. Last weekend it was easy to ride on a mountain with a friend at -7. This week it's hard to get myself out the door on my own at 10 - the videos get better and better!
Thank you for the encouraging words! We just love to ride bikes and spreading the love makes us so happy
Positive vibes only. Another long form video kicking it out the park from GCN.
Thank you so much
I've seen several of these, enjoy the effort, the B roll, epic scenery. These trip episodes would be far more interesting if you wove in a lot more on the logistics side of things. What did they do with their bikes at the inn to ensure they were secure overnight? Did the gear dry out overnight/did they have to carry spare clothing/what? Even if it was carried in the camera car, that’s fine, say so. They were soaked through, early and consistently. What gear failed and what different gear would they select next time? Yes, we get that they muscled through, survived, and had an epic time, but…you get the point. It would also be nice to see what happens when you have cars coming up on you on the narrow country roads that GCN are frequently on. Do you pull over and stop? Do the cars pull into the oncoming lane? Probably a mix, depending on circumstances, but still, for those of us who don’t have the experience on those roads it would be interesting to actually see this, from time to time.
Epic father and son adventure. Wales never fails 😅 and need more adventure videos from GCN.
A boy and his dad taking on the elements. Brings a tear to my eye. Congrats to Connor ans Ollie. Job well done. ( oh, and credit to the crew. You captured the landscapes beautifully.)
Wales is a magnet of a place to ride, the scenery is just off the scale, the isolation, the fellowship you feel with the people you meet in the crazy remote spots you find yourself in .. . but damn it can mess you up with how steep it can get ... well done gents
Wales! A beautiful country. We are truly blessed in the UK, people who complain the UK has nothing to offer have probably never stepped foot out of their own back yard, if they have it was most likely in some kind of motor vehicle. The variation of terrain & scenery we have within a couple hours travelling in any direction can't be found anywhere else, it's incredible. I love my country! Can someone please do something about the weather though 😂. Great film guys. I love that Oli's accent comes out when he's having a good time!
As lovely as Wales is, the weather is rubbish, I’ve just done a month in Xabia that’s what winter riding should be.
Started watching thinking I should go for a winter overnighter too. Finished watching and perfectly happy to wait a couple of months
right!?
I moved from the UK to California so I can’t complain about the amazing roads I get to ride on, but when I see the beauty the UK has to offer it always makes me a wee home sick. I always make sure I ride when I visit. Keep up the awesome work chaps.
Growing up in north and mid-Wales, lots of these roads and places are very familiar. The rain and grey days can be dispiriting but it is a wonderful area for cycling (as long as you like steep hills and narrow lanes). Great to see GCN giving it some love. 👍
Exactly the same pal
Born in Splott, Cardiff, now in Caernarfon-for a small country, Wales has it all, hills, mountains, rivers, beaches, castles, forests, lakes and sheep!!!
you know what they say, Wales never fails!
From experience, that ride was ridiculously harder than they made it look. Fab video and genuinely inspiring.
No, not at all. Nearly 200 miles in 2 days.
Another brilliantly produced video. Thanks GCN
The quality is amazing. These videos are beautiful.
GCN is not only a goldmine when it comes to Cycling (obviously), but also a channel that features such beautiful surroundings that it can be equated with National Geographic!
Wales provided pretty much every season for us on this ride! Views were incredible and when the cloud cleared, I've never seen light like it. Thanks for watching, Conor
Connor: The sun’s come out
Sky behind him: Grey wall of clouds
It's all relevant haha! I was so happy at this point just to see glimmers of light! Thanks for watching, Conor
thought the same!
Watching these long journeys is always a treat.
As I’m watching this video from Canada right now is -16C outside and I have about 40cm of snow in my back yard. You chaps look considerably colder. Credit to you both a cold wet ride is miserable and a legitimately tough. Great video.
Me too. Can’t wait to see green grass and for temperatures around zero…..only another six weeks to go!
Thanks Bryce! I'd love to try a super cold trip like this.. fat bikes + snow. Must be such an experience! Thanks for watching, Conor
Connor needs to do the Tour Divide. It just seems so up his alley. I can't think of another event that has the spirit of exploration.
The gentle giant and Ollie take on a Wales adventure in the middle of winter... I grabbed the popcorn and was not disappointed. This is like one of those adventures you do with a mate who is way more into it than you are, but you do it anyway. Great video!
I’m not sure which was more wonderful: the camaraderie, camerawork or resilience. Thank you for sharing your epic adventure.
Kudos to Coner and Ollie for undertaking this ride for our entertainment. I loved the video and thank you both for doing it. It's inspiring and you both made me laugh out loud 🤣. PS you make a great father and son duo 🤣.
“The sun’s come out” means something altogether different in Wales 🤣
Fantastic! Husband was excited to see many of the roads he used crossing Wales in 2024, that hill out of Machynlleth is a total beast. Using local hotels and Inns is a great way to support the local area and ensure options for the next riders exist.
What a magnificent trip. I am inspired to follow your lead. In the summer of course, I'm not a complete lunatic😀
Well done to Connor for not bonking and have his mittens on a string though his jacket, I haven’t seen that since 1976!
And well done to Ollie for doing it in what looked like summer kit.
haha... did this as a back up specially for this ride.. worked a treat! Some things just don't need fixing! Thanks for watching, Conor
Now these are the videos I like to see on GCN!
Love these slower paced adventures! I'm not much of a competitive speed racer, so I enjoy these types of videos. Thanks guys!
OUTSTANDNG cinematography in this video. Give your camera/video team some lovaeand a big raise. WOW!
Once again GCN puts out another fantastic video, Ollie you're magnificent, Conor , what a brilliant Dad, so look forward to content like this ,love it
I'm just lucky to have a son that enjoys cycling too! Thanks for the watch, Conor
So it's Heartbreaking to see two men in a cold wind weather on road bike travel packing travelling across Britain. So beautifully scenarios and good sky! GO GCN, maybe 500 km 2 days.
It really is amazing ❤
Thanks!
Thank you for your support Blake!
Just remember the next time you are cold and tired on one of these epic adventures that this is your JOB and the rest of us would love to have it. Well done.
Moved from the UK many years ago and now live in Perth, Australia, and watching this video while it's 40 degrees outside 🥵, I couldn't imagine riding in such cold / freezing temperatures 🥶 GCN your videos are bloody awesome, love watching these adventures. Keep them coming 👍
Great and very inspring video. Shows that my decline in riding in Winter is more linked to attitude than I would like to admit.
BTW I was thinking about getting an indoor trainer for ~500€ for next winter Season. Or should I spend the money on proper winter clothing and push through? Thoughts Anyone?
Thank you so much for the support! Regarding the €500, it all depends on how dedicated you will be to going outside? The good thing about an indoor trainer is that you can easily hop on it at any time and ride, whatever the weather. Poor weather may still be a blocker to you getting outside, even with the right clothing.
It’s not an easy decision! Alex has a video coming up soon that may help you with this exact situation!
Conveyed the challenge, the misery, the beauty and the elation ... and the importance of teamwork. Excellent.
Thanks for sharing your adventure, boys. I needed that in the middle of a long, freezing New England winter.
I did a lone Christmas, (summer), months tour across the north and south islands of New Zealand with two small panniers. It was in the early 2000’z and it was like living life to the maximum possible extent. Just stopping every night in motels, or B&B’s, living by the seat of my chamois and enjoying the massive expansive varied Kiwi landscape. It was a pure pleasure. I used to ride into town every night, pick out 3 accommodations, then stay at the best of the 3 that night. All the kind Kiwi people were a pleasure to deal with and were very easy to get along with. I would say the south island is more scenic and with much less traffic is safer. I had tonnes of little adventures over there and would encourage anyone to try it out, with or without company. Like the Welsh trip of dad n lad, you will never forget a special road trip👍🏼👍🏼
Bike packed Lon Las Cymru a while ago, Chepstow to Hollywood but sensibly over 4 days and in the summer. Most excellent adventure.
Epic was very appropriate. Enjoyable and inspiring.
GCN at its best!! Two beasts on cycles with excellent attitudes through tough conditions. How they stayed on the saddles with such big huevos is beyond me. Conor, you and Ollie are ready for Unbound now! Go for it!
Conor get's cold sweats when he hears Unbound mentioned!
Thanks so much DickSpencer... was an epic ride, loved sharing it with Ollie! Thanks for watching. Still building myself back up to take on Unbound again. One day for sure though ;) cheers, Conor
You guys are nuts, do it again in de summier and then compare the rides. You guys rock.💪
It would probably be the same weather.
It's inspired me to do a longer ride in a couple of weeks, but maybe not 300km! Well done, thanks a lot.
I love cycling through central wales, I love the remoteness of it! The brutal hills, there is nothing quite like it!
it is a very cool place to ride!
@ yes indeed I’m very lucky to live in South Wales, always great to head north on the bike
Thank for the inspirational ride. Loved the drone shots. Beautiful country side. Looking forward to set up my own winter treks with a buddy.
Nice! Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed it while spinning on my stationary bike. Snow and ice here.... Good stuff GCN for sacrificing Ollie and Connor.
Lovely, beautiful ride. I love these long form videos. I love these epic journeys. I used to live in the coldest city in Australia - Canberra. Many minimum temps below freezing in the winter. Lots of frosty mornings. Sometimes snow. I had good clothing and good lights, so I liked riding in winter. Loved it actually. Fortunately I never had to ride in snow. I kinda feel sorry for Canadians having to deal with snow and ice. Best to just stay off the bike in those extremes. If you continue to ride you'll eventually break bones. If you really need to exercise, visit a swimming pool and do some laps. Or go jogging. That's serious exercise, which will really sort you out.
When riding through that sloppy mud/slurry, using bottles with dome covers over the nozzle is essential. I did the Lon Las Cymru last year. My gloves were like Ollies at one stage. I was wringing them out by making fists. I stopped for an athletes steak bake in Greggs in Builth Wells and changed my gloves to a dry pair. Having warm dry hands rejuvenated me. Good video guys
Connor and Ollie great video gentlemen. Epic winter challenge!!
What an adventure! Loved these two father and son together. Staying warm is quite a task in those conditions. Glad it didn’t snow on them
The rest of us wished it had snowed on them!
Excellent ! Two men who know how to take on a challenge.
Enjoyed this video very much.
Reminds me of the “old “ days ;-)
Love Every One on the GCN Crew… But gotta admit… Riding “Any” Ride with Connor would be… The Best of the Best 👍💪🚴♀️🚴♂️🚴♀️🚴♂️🍻
one thing is certain, lots of action, laughs and possibly disasters!
aw thank you, that's super kind!! Thanks for the comment... would be great to get that ride in one day :) Cheers, Conor
Nice to see you both riding my local roads, well done 😊
Hiya guys. Absolutely inspiring. Re the landscapes pictured, the greenery is very brownery 🤔
Lots of rain but landscape looks baked.
Having ridden through the Brecon beacons in chilly weather I'm seriously tempted to do this ride now although I may take some warmer clothes as I'm a tad older than I was. I love these videos, it must be said, for always adding some inspiration and bringing some new ride ideas and also the presentation, fun to watch. Well done guys keep it up.
Bikes in the shop right now getting a tune up. Ill be riding it by Wednesday. Trails on the weekend. Great video with amazing landscapes
Nothing better than a long ride with your mate
Ollie (in the beginning): “I've been wanting to go on a proper bikepacking trip with you for ages!”
Me (thinking): Who are you and what have you done for Oliver Bridgewood?
Conor (in the hotel): “I'm glad Ollie persuaded me to stay in a hotel”
Me (thinking): Oh, he is the real Dr. Bridgewood after all!
My thoughts EXACTLY!
So true. Ollie in a tent, no chance
@@gcn Dr. Bridgewood's is always the voice of reason 🤓
great bike ride and cinematic setting to do again in the summer when everything is in bloom.
Nice ride to do in the summer!!!! Forget it in the winter 🥶
Fantastic in every way. This is why I love bikes like the Grizl because you can relax & go anywhere on them
Beautiful photography! Thanks for the video.
Zero degrees and rain is about the worst condition, the water will be ice cold! Greetings from Scandinavia. If it gets much below zero the air have less humidity.
Thanks for another top GCN production!
Thank you! This is exactly what I wanted from a cycling show. Top Gear on pedals. Thanks!
Glad you like it!
Another great video guys! Well done for finishing and showing us what can be done on a bike, and what a lovely place Wales is……And all in good humour😊
Again and always. Great video work. Ollie as Connor’s son made me do a spit take. Too funny. Awesome adventure, great work!!
A "Proper Adventure" indeed! Great filming, and inspiring tenacity. Well done lads!!!
Great video guys. Your camera work brought out the beauty of Wales, even in the cold wintry conditions. Nothing wrong with your effort of the Welsh words Connor.👍
Great achievement and well done to you both for seeing it through. The chippy tea sounded awesome!
Great video as always. Living in the South West USA, I just couldn't imagine riding in England weather like these guys do. Rode outside today, and it was sunny with not one cloud and a temp of 71f/22c. 😊
Absolutely lovely movie, my dudes! Epic scenery, good conversation, and tough riding. Very inspiring!
Really loved this video. More please like this. Impressive doing it in such cold and wet conditions. Kudos.
I live for videos like this. Settling down with a coffee for 25 mins. Cheers guys
Beautiful country and excellent videography to capture it. Your spring cycling adventure (I'm from Canada) is inspiring, and perhaps something I might like to take on some day.
That was brilliant! Definitely inspiring to do some bike packing adventuring! Not sure about the cold though especially after the 35° days we have here right now 😂
Amazing ride gents! I must say, even though that looked hard, you do have the greatest jobs on Earth...
Indeed, #WalesNeverFails. I've bike packed and bike toured those same roads and the riding is truly epic, tough, beautiful and sooo well worth every mile. Well done boys!
More like this...real people, real world
Great content guys
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you
It's awesome seeing Ollie excited to bike pack. Looks like the boys had a lot of fun. Love these kinds of videos!
Great work by the camera crew and editing team
Thank you!
Such an awesome ride! We've got some amazing routes right across the country. Fair play on attempting the pronunciations too - not easy 👏
these adventures are truly the best . well done to both of you.
Beautiful scenery and excellent photography. Thank you.
Thanks
Thanks James. Dan
Superb Vid GCN absolutely loved it 😁
thank you!
Best do this route is the summer!
Great video - Ollie never gives up
Fortune favours the brave 💪. Very much enjoyed watching that, great scenery captured ever so well…. And yes, very much inspired me to do something similar.
Well done boys, you should be proud of yourselves for sticking with it and following through, despite some really rough conditions, most of us would never consider adventuring like that in.
Absolutely brutal. You should feel a sense of accomplishment. Great video and beautiful scenery.
This video shows what a difference a positive attitude makes
Absolutely breathtaking scenery
That looked like an excellent ride and the footage was stunning. Well done. One of your best videos to date.
thank you!
„I prefer improper weather“ is a line for the ages 😂 Well done Ollie and Conor, it made me want to pack my bags and go on a big trip.
This is GCN! Inspirational ride. Great content! Thanks guys!
Devenitly love this adventure videos. Wales is assume even in Winter 🥶. Great ride!!!
This was lovely, well done, thanks. I've ridden a lot in mid-Wales. Fantastic place to ride.
Brilliant content in my home country more content like this guys channel is superb well done.
Much appreciated!
Love these adventure videos GCN! Keep up the good work and thank you.
This is my favorite content from this channel. 🙌
